Adoption Update - Beau Finds the Perfect Home - and A Girlfriend!
Beau (sitting on the floor) is a 7-year-old Bichon who lost one eye to glaucoma. He came to Paws in August and is just the sweetest little guy.A champion cuddler, Beau gets along with other dogs, doesn't mind gentle children, and loves everyone he meets.
The catch? Beau's previous owners didn't teach him to eliminate outdoors, so he has occasional accidents inside.
Our 1st goal was to try to housebreak him. Not an easy task in a kennel filled with 20+ other dogs who also needed attention. Goal #2 was to find him the right home - one with a patient owner who would continue the task of working with him until he understood that eliminating outside was oh-so-much-better than doing so inside - also not an easy task.
This past Sunday, Paws held its 3rd Annual Bark in the Park fundraiser, and Beau was one of the shelter dogs who attended. Aside from the fact that his "Adopt Me" donation vest was stuffed to the brim with donations (he's a charmer, I'm telling you!), he attracted quite a following of people interested in him... Including this lovely couple who have a very sweet and loving 7-year-old Bichon of their own! Was it Karma?
Beau, Molly, and this couple spent quite a while together at the park on Sunday. One thing led to another, and by Wednesday Beau not only had a wonderful new home, he had a new girlfriend, too! Just look at the smiles on all four faces!
I love a happy ending, and I don't think it could have been better than this!

We're Honored!
Our friends at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life gave us this great award! What a sweet thing to do and a wonderful way to end a week. We want to thank them from the bottom of our hearts!

So, I'm going to focus on seven of the great dogs at Paws and share things about them!
1) Apple has been at Paws for some time now, almost 1.5 years, and he doesn't deserve it! Apple's only "crime" is that he doesn't care for other animals. He's perfectly housebroken, doesn't destroy a thing when left alone, cuddles with the best of them, and is extremely playful. He's the perfect companion!

2) Bandit has been waiting for his forever home for over six months. He's a loving, sweet, and playful Pit Bull mix who will sit on your lap for hours. He loves the company of other dogs, and would appreciate a home with a yard and maybe a playpal for a good romp!

3) Francois, a Mastiff/Pit Bull mix, has also been at Paws far too long. He was abandoned one day and was found tied to our fence. This fella can hold three tennis balls in his mouth at once! He's definitely a favorite at Paws!

4) Gizmo, a beautiful Siberian Husky, originally came in with her dad. He has since been adopted, but Gizmo is still with us. She's a gorgeous girl, and would love to be in a home with someone who can spend time with her as she loves people!

5) Mikey! Oh, what a teddy bear! This boy is everything you could ever want in a furry companion. Housebroken, cuddly, lovable, loving. Why is he still at Paws? He's nine years old, and has lots of spunk. Throw a tennis ball and Mikey is at it. Fill up the kiddy pool - well, just look at the picture!

6) Sweet Pea is (shhhh!) my personal favorite. She came to us after a volunteer found her wandering one freezing cold night during a snowstorm. It was obvious that she had recently had puppies, but they were no where to be found. Sweet Pea was thin as a rail, her ribs poking through her skin. I remember taking her in that night; I'll never forget the look of gratitude in her eyes when I set up her kennel with food, water, and a huge, fluffy bed. She sank into it with a sigh...

7) Whitey Ford! Yes, this dog is dressed as a Yankee, and he's as playful as one! This senior boy came back to Paws after being in a home for 10 years. He's an MVP in our book: Most Valuable Pooch! Whitey keeps his room spotless and loves going for walks, but isn't too fond of sharing the spotlight with other animals.

Adoption Update - Colby
Colby found love with a great family, and I think his ear-to-ear grin tells it all! For some reason, I think there might be future arguments about whose lap Colby gets to sit on... :)

From what we hear, he's living the good life of belly rubs and long walks, visits to the beach and romps in the park. Good for you, Al!
Adoption Update - Charlie
Charlie was only at Paws for a couple of weeks, and he had a chance to slim down a little, find a home, and make a lot of people happy. (He's wearing an e-collar because he had just been neutered.)
You'll recall that he came to us after his human passed away, which is difficult for a dog, but Charlie didn't have to wait long to find love all over again!

Sadie
She was at Paws four years ago, and was then known as Ally. Her most recent owners had to give her up when they could no longer care for her.
I wish I could scoop up this love bug! Sadie is THE best cuddler in town.
She's a "petite" Pit Bull, small in stature, only about 45 lbs. But she's big on love. And can she smile!
Her red and white markings are stunning, and there's not much she wouldn't do to please you.
We think she might get along with some dogs, but an introduction would be necessary.
Sadie is about four-years-old, spayed, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. If you want a playful, yet cuddly pup, this is the girl for you!
Charlie
This four-year-old sweetie is now on a diet. :) He likes friendly dogs, and gentle, quiet, youngsters.
As a chubster, Charlie would love to live the life of Couch Potato. But, a home with a little activity - a daily walk - would be best for this cuddly fellow!
Marvin
He's now grown into a beautiful two-year-old Yellow Lab with an ear-to-ear grin! This boy needs some basic obedience training, and you'll have a great companion.
If you have the time to invest and you're looking for a great walking partner, Marvin could be The One!
Chico
Chico is a 4 1/2 year old Lab/Retriever mix, who is the gentlest boy in town. Sadly, he spent most of his life ignored in a back yard. But you'd never know it the way he showers you with love and affection when he greets you!
He's about 75 lbs., and he walks well on a leash. I think this boy would love a family so he can be the dog he never had a chance to be - toss a ball, cuddle, go for walks - that's what Chico would love!

Sugar
This little Maltese was given up by her owner who couldn't take her with her when she moved.
Sugar is a tiny gal, who really needs to gain some weight. She was a picky eater when she first came to the shelter, but now she's starting to eat a little better.
This sweetie would do best in a home with older children who understand that a small dog isn't a toy, probably ages 10+.
Sugar will be spayed next week, then she's ready to go!
Adoption Update - Ziggy
Ziggy's new mom had a Pit Bull for about 12 years, and her son was only eight years old when that dog first came to live with them. As you can imagine, her loss hit them very hard.
Enter Zigster, and the smiles were back on their faces! Even Ziggy is smiling! Yeah, everyone is happy!

Adoption Update - Annabelle
Annabelle, now known as Sydney, has a sister and brother who are beautiful Shelties, and some feline siblings as well. Sydney's mom reports that our spoiled little girl is finally eating better (she experienced a poor appetite at the shelter), but wants to be fed like a true princess: from a spoon!

Colby
Well, Colby is a happy dog! He's happy in your lap, near your side, in your lap, on a walk, in your lap - you get the idea, right? He's a friendly, affectionate, and - well - happy little guy.
Colby will be three years old next month. He's been neutered and is up-to-date on his vaccinations. He has tested positive for Lyme, but he's asymptomatic. He was found to be positive during a routine vet visit, and is currently being treated.
The only time Colby isn't happy is when he has to share food and treats with another dog. Then, he's very UNhappy, and he shows it, thinking he's as big as any dog in the place!
So, if you're looking for a smiling Pomeranian, Colby might be the guy for you! Just hold the treats until the two of you are alone!
Update - Gracie
Remember this dog, with the sad, dull, and patchy coat? Gracie had lost most of it to flea allergies. It didn't dampen her spirits, but it did take away from the beautiful personality that she has.
Well, Gracie came for a visit this week, and look at her today:

Charlie and Oliver have become fast friends and can't play together enough! This picture was hard to get - there aren't many moments when they're actually sitting still!
Buster, the Parson Russell in the second picture, was adopted in 1999 from Russell Rescue. He likes to get in on the action, too!

Annabelle
This vociferous young lady weighs in at just 3 pounds, and is four months old. Full grown, she should weigh about eight pounds.
She has all of the characteristics and tenacity of a full-sized Aussie - the voice and tendency to dominate are definitely there!
She's a lovely little girl, and already has a ton of applications in on her. What would you expect? But I hope people realize that size doesn't matter with this pup; she's a HUGE dog in a tiny body! :)

Meet Al, a cute and happy little terrier mix! He looks to be a Westie mix, and he's got the market cornered on gentlemanly good looks!Al was given up by his owners because they had to move and they couldn't take them with him.
This little guy seems very sweet, but he's nervous right now as he settles in at the shelter.
He's not a fan of cats but he likes other dogs and has lived with children as young as 9-years-old. He himself is just 2 1/2!
Al has to be neutered before he's placed in a home, and he's up-to-date on all vaccinations.
I think he'd make a nice little companion for someone!

Ziggy
A five-month-old AmStaff mix, he's already been in one home, but as he grew, he became a bit much for the dachshund pair he was living with. So his original foster mom decided she should take him back, teach him a few more manners, and find him a more appropriate home (she's one of PAWS's BEST volunteer/staff members!).
Ziggs needs an owner who is experienced with the breed. The perfect owner will be a good doggie leader and provide structure and training to our mushball. Ziggs is highly food-motivated, so training will be that much easier!
Ziggy can live with older, calm, and dominant dogs who will keep him in line and remind him that he's not the boss.
As I said, Ziggs is a mushball and will definitely wiggle his way into your heart! He gives the best kisses and cuddles! Typical Pit Bull - love with fur!

Rochelle
Rochelle is very, very shy with humans but she flourishes when around other dogs. She's not at all aggressive to people; rather, she shrinks away. We've gotten to the point (in just 1 1/2 weeks) where she'll greet me when I walk into her room, which I think is wonderful progress.
Outside with other dogs, she plays just like any dog - running, grabbing toys, play-bowing. It's a beautiful sight! Sometimes I wish they could talk or I could read their minds. I wish I knew what makes her shrink away from people. But I know that the right home - with another dog or two - will bring out the best in this girl!

Doc
Doc had a hard start in life. Sick and left to die in a municipal shelter, PAWS pulled this starving puppy and literally saved his life. Now, Doc has gained weight, confidence, and the love of everyone at the shelter.
This Boxer/Pit Bull mix is smart as a whip and with obedience training, this energetic pup will be one amazing companion! He also has play pals at PAWS, so we know he gets along with other dogs!
Doc is about a year old, neutered and up-to-date on all vaccinations.
Bailey
Big, goofy guy, looking to be your only love...
Bailey is a yellow Lab who loves to play ball. And I mean LOVES to play ball! You can toss the ball for hours on end, and he will run to get it, drop it at your feet and look for more. He was brought to PAWS when his owners moved and couldn't take him with them.
The only problem with this perfect fella is that he does not get along with other animals at all. If you can provide a home without animals for this guy, you'll have the undying affection of one great dog!

Bella & Bindi
Bella and Bindi are mom and daughter Dachshunds. Bella (black & tan) is about 7 years old, and Bindi (red) is about 5. They came to PAWS after being pulled from Easton Animal Control.
Aren't they gorgeous! We have to place them together because they're extremely bonded to one another. They're a riot to see together from playing to cuddling together for a nap.
We suggest placing these little ladies with children 12+. They're spayed, up-to-date on their vaccinations, and just waiting for the right home!
