Of course, I would forget my camera for the holiday. It is probably better that way considering all of the other messes I dealt with while we visited Tyler's family in Wyoming during our Thanksgiving break.
We left on Wednesday evening after Tyler got home from work. The car ride was fine-thanks to the DVD watching capability in our vehicle. We stopped for Wendy's in Evanston, then on to Grandma's. Thanksgiving morning, after a rather sleepless night, things seemed normal. The kids were enjoying playing with cousins and excited to learn how to play the Wii. We prepared for Thanksgiving lunch and went over and started eating around 1:00pm. After we dished up each of the kids plates, we noticed Spencer didn't want to eat a thing. He, of course looked tired and acted tired and ornery so I decided to hold him. He was in my lap for a few minutes while I ate and then yacked twice. Milk curds all over me and him. I pushed my dinner aside and decided I wasn't hungry anymore. Tyler helped me clean it up, we stripped Spencer of his wet clothes and he fell asleep for a while. I continued to hold him and we enjoyed sitting in our little corner as not a lot of people knew he had thrown up. A short time later he yacked again, this time more and more came out. It was horrible. We held him and cleaned him up the best we could. Again, he yacked more--this time I was by the big huge garbage can--and I still couldn't manage to get him to hit the trash can. It was all over my shirt, a portion of my hair, the floor, or course all over him. I was ready to go back to Tyler's mom's place, until, Tyler's cousin who lives close and Great Gma saved me with a shirt and jacket. I washed a bit, changed, and held a fevered sick Spencer. It was not fun. Finally, after games, visiting, and eating(I managed to eat a bit more), we went back.
One of us were always holding Spencer with a towel to protect the furniture, and carpet at Grandma's house. Thank goodness I did remember my Tylenol and Motrin of which we needed the entire rest of the time we were there. Spencer threw up more and more until the next morning. He finally stopped throwing up. He started to play a little, but wasn't much himself as he was still fevered.
I got up, after a rather crazy and sleepless night (Tyler, Spencer, and I slept on the two couches as to be close to the bathroom in case Spencer yacked again)to go for the shopping adventure with my in-laws. It was an experience to remember and we were glad that Brad came and drove as the roads were icy and there were some who had slipped off the road. Friday was a lazy sit around day for the most part. Later that night, after a game we had played, Brynn yacked up twice. At this point, Tyler and I split with each responsible for a kid. I took Brynn. She yacked 5 more times that night, but managed to make each of those into a bucket which we had for her. She slept on one of the couches and I slept on another. Tyler managed okay in the room with Spencer.
Saturday morning, Tyler's sister Heather's little girl yacked. We had decided to go back home on Saturday morning. We felt bad that this had spread, but we were in close quarters. No yacking in the car-yeah!!! We got home and things seemed to be okay. Spencer and Brynn still running fevers, but were eating a bit and not yacking. At approximately 3:00pm. Tyler noticed that Spencer had an airsoft gun bee-bee stuck way up in his nose. We don't even have one of those guns in our house, but Braden and Karson love to collect those darn bee-bee's. Needless to say, we took Spencer in to the doctor and they got the bee-bee out, and at the same time they tested him for Strep based on symptoms. He was positive for Strep! At least he was on medication and I felt like I was on the better road.
Saturday night, Tyler was up several times yacking and fevered. I woke up fevered because I was shivering in bed. I was too tired to actually go and get medicine. I stayed in bed until I couldn't stand it anymore and took my temp. I was 102.5. I took medicine and quickly went right back to bed. Tyler continued to eat nothing all day and have it coming out both ends. By around 5pm, he was feeling better and hoping to go to work on Monday. I was fevered and stayed on top of the medicine all day long. I never threw up, but had a throat that was fiercely sore. Braden prepared breakfast and lunch for the kids and was an awesome helper. Off to bed that night with Spencer on the rebound. Braden and Karson still healthy, Tyler, Brynn, and me still fighting.
Monday morning and Spencer's Birthday, Tyler went into work and felt pretty good. I felt horrible and went to the doctor. I got a shot of penicillin and sat sickly the rest of the day. I did manage to get a batch of dishes done that evening and made an easy quick Alfredo dinner, and a cake. I also went to the store and got some balloons and wrapped Spencer's gift.
Tuesday morning early, Braden runs up the stairs and yacks! Ouch, he didn't avoid it. He stayed home from school and had a few more bouts of it. He felt fine Wednesday and went to school. Brynn still has this darn fever that won't go away and he throat is yucky and red. She is put on an antibiotic as well. Thank you for modern medicine and good doctors.
Wednesday, just after midnight, I am up with the wet vac sucking up throw up from Karson. Disgusting!!! It has finally been through our entire family.
We are all feeling better. Thanks for letting us come and spend Thanksgiving at your home Grandma Jan and Grandpa Brad. We appreciate all you did for us. It was fun to see cousins, even if it was short. Sorry we were sickly.
