Last Sunday was one fun Sunday for me plus the other 2 friends of mine (cmah & pera). It was a day where fun and fitness was working hand in hand. We participate in the Batik Fun Walk event. The event was a wonderful gathering of friends and families who made the effort to promote Malaysian batik in a fun way.
When we arrived at Malaysia Tourism Centre, the dressing up had begun in earnest. We were each given a complimentary piece of sarong, a bun, a muffin, a bottle of mineral water, our participant number (mine : 285) and a lucky draw number which we dropped into a big box.
Every participant put in their best effort to add some batik elements to their sports wear which is why the event is named "Batik Fun Walk" . It is supposed to be a fun way to promote our very own batik while being healthy at the same time. It's quite amusing and interesting to watch the people around you being creative with batik. There are all sort of styles and fashions these people have come up with. Have to say batik made heads turn that morning. Wear it short, long, wrap around the waist and on the head . It promised to be different walk which non competitive, fun and to top it all, wear Malaysian batik and do it in your own style. Shout out for Malaysian Batik.
Before we start the long catwalk, all participants loosened up their joints with an aerobics instructress (by Lisdawati). The music got everyone moving and in the mood. The walk was flagged off by the MC. Started from MaTIC and snaking through Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan P. Ramlee before ending at the centre. Anyway, it was a good 2.3km walk. After the competition, there's a performance by the Astro's reality show artists (Erul, Ema, Hazama and Fina).
The lucky draw was eagerly awaited. So many prizes were given away and the grand prize was an LCD TV. My friend got lucky that day. Her numbers are up. Lucky you my dear. I hope this is gonna be one of my annual events every year, InsyaAllah.
And now, without further ado… pictures!
