Bus Story #4.2
So I was on the bus again yesterday and took a later bus than usual cuz I went shopping...anyways, guess who I saw on the bus?? The boy who got robbed!
I wasn’t sure if it was him at first but as the bus got crowded, I noticed that he removed his backpack and carried it on his front side. Then he looked over at his friend and sorta chuckled. It had to be him I thought….and I was right! (I had to ask as I had been wondering if he ever got his "wallet" back). Anyways, he did manage to chase down the guy (like they found him) but he got away. Luckily, the thief threw what actually was his mp3 player by a tree as he fled. Furthermore, “Shawn” (the guy that got robbed) is a Korean exchange student whom just arrived in Vancouver for exactly two weeks when this occurred. Poor guy. What an awful welcoming. I assured him that most Vancouverites are actually nice folks and what happened was just an anomaly. Hope he doesn’t give us a bad name...

Beautiful day...
Wished it was like that yesterday at the Sun Run. Congrats to all those that ran. I was there as a volunteer at the finish line and watched about 47000+ ppl cross. That is a whole lotta people!! Pretty amazing to witness. It was also quite exciting to see the very first guy run across (<30min!!). I was glad to see a couple familiar faces too. I even saw my brother's friend from way back. Everyone looked so tired but happy!
Although I didn't get to pass out water for the sunrun and have the ppl that are passing by just grabbing it right out of my hand like I wanted to (something that I have always wanted to do), I was able to get the whole sun-run-volunteering-thing crossed off my list. And watching all the runners and walkers yesterday made me realize that I actually want to participate next year! So here we go...let's see Susan do a 10K run (or walk... ;D ). Now that would definitely be something for me...See you all next year!

Bus story #4
Rode the bus home today. Nothing usual. Crowded bus, people everywhere. I had to stand near the back exit where there was the most room. Anyways, I noticed this man that was standing kinda close so I looked up at him. He looked back with a smirk revealing his missing tooth. He was dressed pretty raggedy and gave me a bad feeling. As a result, I took a step back to get some distance. He was invading my bubble. Didn’t like it.
After that I minded my own business and continued on with my scenic ride of Vancouver traffic. When I looked around myself again minutes later, I realized the odd man is now on the other side me (how he got there without me noticing, I don’t know) and proceeded to exit the bus. As the door closed behind him, a gentleman yelled out to a boy left of me and goes “that man’s hand was in your bag!! Hand in bag.” The twenty something asian boy was totally out of it as he was smiling back at the fellow. I had to shout and gesture to him before he finally checked his backpack. Then a bunch of us yelled, “Stop the bus!!! Stop the bus!!” (as the driver had no idea). Once the bus stopped, the asian boy hurried off along with another 3 or 4 more guys following right behind him. Off they went running down the street to chase down the bad guy in hopes of getting a missing wallet(?) back. I don’t know what happened after that as the bus continued on its way but it was so nice to see there are still complete strangers that would ban together in mere seconds to assist another stranger. What good samaritans!!
