In Sickness and In Health...

We (my colleague and I) have been going to KPJ Seremban after work for 2 days in a row already. Hopefully we don't have to go there today. Two of my senior colleagues were admitted. One due to chest pain, and after diagnosis, it is a heart attack. Apparently one of the veins has two blockage. She underwent angiogram and was disharged yesterday. The same day another senior colleague was admitted due to abdominal pain. After check up, it is confirmed she had kidney stone in her urinary tract and she is now pregnat. Therefore the Dr could not conduct x-ray to determine the exact location and size.

Nowadays, we see people dropping like flies, mostly due to common diseases. My colleague, the one with the heart attack is actually an active person. She always ride bikes, jog and she rarely eats out. But still, she gets it. What is the determining factor to stay away from all this illness? My thinking is combination of good lifestyle, healthy eating habit (yeah...cut down on the seafood y'all...that will settle in your veins) and last but not least pray hard!!

I am for sure struggling on the lifestyle bit. Its very tempting to use the elevator instead of staircase even just one floor away. I arrive to work quite early and always park at the nearest spot, so why not park a little bit further, and walk a bit? hhmmm...worth a try..

Sakit ooo....

I hated in when kids from other class roaming in front of my class holding the green card. I prayed very hard for the card is not mine. On some occasion, yes, I get the call. There I go, walking extremely slow to the school's dental clinic. The next thing I know is I saw this smiling monkey spinning around so fast that it makes me feel dizzy.

I have been neglecting dental care since like forever. I brush my teeth, I did not floss, I never went to bi-yearly dental check up. I sucks at being adult if it means taking good care of my tooth. And today I have one molar being taken out, no turning back, it could not be saved anymore and with that I void my fast for today, it hurts!!! I am writing this as a reminder to myself as the anesthetic is wearing off, I am in deep pain....I cannot take leave, have so many things to attend.....sakit!!!!!!!

That Literally Hurts!!

I have been having lower back pain for quite some time and after some visit to my local doc, she refered me to a specialist, an orthopeadic to be exact. I did an x-ray but nothing conclusive comes out from that. As follow up I went back for MRI and the results were not good. My lumbar section from L3 all the way to L5 has evident signs of wear and tear. That explains the back pain, at times it is so serious that I just could not get up.

According to the doc, its irreversible, and it is permanent. I was prescribed with some pain med and patches for my back. Ordered to attend physiotheraphy, which I will start next week. For now, am no longer in pain but was advised to be extra careful in all my activities. I can no longer slouch...(which I don't think did anyway), no more heavy lifting (I admit to be doing this quite a lot..even when I was small).

If I'm not be careful, the pain will come again and definitely affect my daily routine. I promise to take good care of myself. Or course I will, after looking at the medical bills, well the company is paying but, after two visits, the bill was around RM1400++, includes all MRI, x-ray,consultation and also the meds. Physio is not included yet...haish...

Spend last weekend catching with some old frens who is due to deliver this May. She didn't even get maternity benefit from the place she is working right now, nor does her hubby. Boy, am I grateful to be where I am now and I have to make the best out of this.

p/s: I have not been using my dental benefits for the past 2 years...am going to start.

Oaty Morning

Am at work on Friday morning, the day before the long CNY break. It’s rather quiet, and my breakfast ‘kaki’ is not in.

  • 9.30 a.m – decided to have a look at pantry, see what they have left. Hopes are high as my stomach starts singing, only to be disappointed by the cleaned trays, no more left.
  • 9.40 a.m – went out to the canteen, waa…so many people, yet no one I know. Have a peek at the counter, no kuih, all heavy stuffs, uh-uh….no.
  • 9.50 a.m – walk back to office, first time ever regret that I missed breakfast
  • 10.00 a.m – decided to have my OWN made breakfast and voila…
Recipe:
1 packet of 3 in one Instant Quaker Oat Chocolate flavoured
10 tbsp of Quickcook Oatmeal
1 whole mandarine oranges (free supplies for the CNY)
1 cup hot water

Am I healthy or what :)
