Everything but Kitchen Sink

I don't know how I would fit all the stuff I would want to take with me traveling on a motorcycle.
I'd be the dorky biker with a big trailer being pulled behind :D

This guy had to pack well - or maybe he didn't pack well cuz he took too much, huh?

He really doesn't have all that much... compared to other bikers i saw though, his looked over flowing.

Long line at Men's Restroom?

Hilarous to see! While traveling last week I stopped at a rest stop near the SD border on I-90. As I was heading toward the women's bathroom, a gentleman opened the men's bathroom door and was stopped in his tracks. There was a line that reached back to the door! The women's bathroom on the other hand was empty!

The reason the men's bathroom was so busy is that the Sturgis Bike Rally was going on last week. Women do attend the rally too, but I'm sure that the majority of Bikers are men. Hence, long line at the men's bathroom and empty women's bathroom.

Also, I learned that while driving on the interstate it isn't wise to get into another lane with bikers in front and behind you. They drive in "packs" and don't like to be split up.

It was interesting to see all the bikers though :)

Over-Active Automatic Toliets

Here's a quick post on a topic that I thought of while I was traveling back to SD from CA.

Now this has happened to me before the recent trip, but I think its really funny/annoying.
For the people who sit on an automatic toliet - beware! Some of these toliets flush in mid-stream! I don't appreciate the sudden "swoosh" or the bubbling beneath.

Has this happened to any of you? Do you know what I mean?

So the question also arises, Are automatic flushing toliets for the best?

Bumps

Bumps, not the mumps. Remember when there was a recent mumps spread in the Midwest earlier this year? A person's glands would swell up around his or her neck if they had the mumps.

I woke up one morning and realized that that the back of my head was hurting. This was new, kinda scary, and a matter of concern. The thought was that these bumps were glands that were swelling up to help my body fight something. We thought this for quite awhile.

But, this is what I think now it most likely was.
The bottom bone on my head was swelling from stress. Heat stress...life stress...travel stress...etc. The muscles attach to the ligaments, which attach to the bones. Well the body sees them as one unit (so the chiropractor explained to me). The muscles I suppose try to deal with the stress and pass it on to the other parts of my body.

The stress ended up at the bottom bone of my head, and affected my sleeping, thinking, and so on.

Anyways, Thanks for the prayers :) Hopefully the stretches that the chiro gave me to do will continue to help.

Laughed so hard, "almost" peed...

Evening before last, we (Tim Jr. and his parents) were sitting in the living room having a time of reading together. It was a nice time where we had our Bibles in our laps and we were discussing the Word. The conversation drifted a bit - not sure the series of topics that led to where we ended up.... But Tim Sr. mentioned, with a slight giggle, a bumper sticker they had seen earlier that day.

It stated, "I'm driving so fast because I have to go poop!"

Immediately I burst up laughing like I was "on the banks of the Hanky Panky." It became one of those Reada laughing spurts, where its hard for me to talk... and then, it becomes hard for me to breathe... and then, well, I try to stop because I realize I have the urge to go the bathroom! And well, while the tickling laughing continues paralyzing me, I try to pause and get to the bathroom.

I'm not sure what makes laughing so contagious? But it is good medicine!

Um, yes, I say "almost" peed... giggle, giggle, because, any person, (I assume mainly women here) knows what I'm talking about with the "almost." However, maybe not all people have had this experience of uncontrolable laughter mixed with full bladder syndrome.

I did make it, Whew! The "almost" did almost wet the couch. But let me tell ya a short story of my parent's experience with the uncontrolable laughter mixed with full bladder syndrome. This will be short, cuz I need to go "visit Long Beach" pretty badly right now. 'wink'-'wink'

My mom was far along in the pregancy of one of us kids, and one afternoon, she sat on my dad's lap. I think he was sitting in a recliner or something. Anyways being the silly guy he is, he started tickling my mom. Well, she had a full bladder. A sensitve, pregnant style, full bladder to be exact! Yep you guessed it: no "almost" for my mom that day. My dad suddenly started to feel a warm sensation spreading across his lap. I can so picture this event happening!!

There's another story similar to all this that I could post, but maybe later :)
I gotta go!

The McConnaughy Men

This is a great picture of 3 generations of McConnaughy men...

This was taken Monday, July 24th at Tom and Sue's house.

They have grapefruit trees, and orange trees, and cats, and dogs, and a big semi, and Wi-Fi, and a swimming pool, and ah it was a fun time being there.

Gotta Love Eureka!

We made it back to Eureka today... Saturday! I am very thankful to be back. By the way I made it to Eureka, CA on June 10th... Tim asked me to marry him June 12th!!! We left for LA July 20th for his sister's baby shower. And now we're back in Eureka. Why am I so happy?

Well while the rest of the country is in a lasting heat wave - hot - hot - hot, Eureka is cool - nice - very nice. Its just about 9:30 pm and the temperature is 56 degrees F.

I didn't do too well with the heat. Saturday at the baby shower I must have overdone it and got too hot... Then some glands on the back of my head swelled up... which gave me throbbing headaches. Usually when I have had them swell up before, they went away. But I've had a big bump on the back of my head since Monday the 24th. Iburporfen (sp?) helped with the pain...
I'm hoping being in cool Eureka will help. I loved the traveling to be with Tim's family - lots - but I am thankful to be "home!"

(yes I am orginally from SD, where it gets really hot in the summer... so why am I not doing well in the heat??? that's a good question, eh?)

Sat for 3 hours

Well, where do you think I sat for 3 hours? In front of the computer you may have guessed.

I was reading up on a American/Chinese who is or was an aethist, gay, filmmaker. That is if he is alive still.

He was doing a documentary on underground Christian churches in China and was arrested back in February 2006 in Bejing, and has not been heard from since.

His story and past postings were interesting and at the same time hard to process. You see one of his blogs before he was arrested tells the story of a his shooting film of a "house church" meeting. During this gathering of about 20 or so Christians, the police came to harass the group. He had started the filming, and then went to take a nap in the other room during sermon part. Shortly after he awoke the cops came, started their harrassing, and finally noticed his camera.

That's when the focus of one angry cop turned unto him and his taping. He refused at first to turn over the tape, but in the next room, the very same room he was earlier taking a nap in during the preaching of God's word, the tape was turned over. The threat was given, "You don't want to mess with us."

After the cops left, the group prayed and were strengthened from this event like so many other persecuted Christians have been in the past. This filmmaker witnessed all of this... fully awakened.

But this man...
It's blowing my mind now to try to imagine what the Lord is doing in his life right now.

wow
maybe I'll try to comment more later on this...

May the Lord bless you -
His Truth be known

Dreary Days...

The sun peeked out a bit last evening in Menno, but otherwise its been kinda dreary here. Rainy and chilly has been the weather since Tim left to go back to California. Well, I'm definitely sad, but things will be alright :) He made it there safely - Thank the Lord.

We will both have some time to reevalute things and um... miss each other terribly.

Here is someone else that is missing Tim...
:)

Maybe the sun will come out tomorrow?

Good Morning :)

Good Sunday morning :) I usually don't mind getting up in the morning. But I would love to take a nap a couple of hours after I have gotten up. I like naps :)

The doctor gave me permission to take some naps - YEAH! But on a weekend, when I'm not working I'd like to get some stuff done. (Like finish painting my kitchen) But the doctor also said to not do too much. :( bummer...

You see, this all started last Thursday morning when I awoke and discovered a bump on the back of my head. Scary! no doubt! It comes and goes still today. The doctor's visit yesterday though was good. She said that the lab tests show that I am fighting a virus similiar to Mono and the bump is a swollen lymph node. The virus will run its course but shouldn't take as long to recover from as what Mono would have.

Thank the Lord! In His name we can be healed. So I'm praying that the virus will go away soon.

Time for church :) Thank the Lord for that too!

Finally

Well I finally have the time to start a blogger. I usually just have made the "more than comments" on my boyfriend's blog account. But its time I suppose. Everyone has to start somewhere. So here is the start, and now I'm not sure what all to say. :) Happy blogging?
