I hope that everyone takes a little time today, tomorrow or some time soon to make some notes about what you'd LOVE to manifest and focus your energy on in 2011, plus perhaps a sweet little GRATITUDE list for honouring all the wonderful things you were able to experience this year...

For now, I'd love to sign off blogging for this year with the same beautiful quote that I've finished the last few years of blogging with too:

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light;
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

With brightest blessings for a superb New Year,

It's that time of year when many people are in gift-seeking mode, myself included ;) I thought it might be fun to give a list of some of the top gift ideas that come to mind for me at this time of year - perhaps this will offer some extra inspiration for some of you out there... ;) Here are ten of my favourite items to give, in no particular order:

What is *Your* Morning Routine?

I posted the article below in my latest newsletter
I wanna share it here too for those who may have missed it - enjoy ;)

In one of our recent online videos, Mr. Monarch mentioned that I do a certain routine every morning and there have been a number of messages since then enquiring what this routine involves, so I thought it might be a grand idea to share some info on that today...I'm going to cover here the first three things that I do each morning (after emptying my bladder, of course ;) This is not presented as a "prescription" for morning management - I would simply love to share what I personally choose to engage in immediately after rising, as so many of you were asking about this - perhaps you may find some inspiration herein ;)

1. Tongue Scraping - I *love* tongue scraping. This is an ancient "yogic" practice of using a scraper of some kind to remove any unpleasant build up on the tongue that has accumulated overnight during the detox phase. There is usually a thick-ish layer of white/yellow 'sludge' that can be easily and quickly scraped off and rinsed away... Personally I use one of the Dr Tung's stainless steel scrapers, which last for countless years and it feels *so* good to me to remove that layer of detox waste from my tongue and freshen up my mouth a bit before I start to ingest anything new - I don't want to take all that sludge back down into my body when it has worked so hard all night to bring it all forward for elimination... ;)

on September the 25th I loved:

1 quart water
3 cups watermelon/orange juice
prune soak water and YUMMY soaked prunes
cup of amazing tonic elixir ice cream from the Longevity Tonic Bar
2 cups water
bowl of kelp noodles with spicy sunflower seed sauce stuffed into romaine leaves and nori sheets, with cucumber on the side, followed by a little cupuacu spread from Gnosis
2 cups water
1 cup kefir

on September the 26th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
2 cups watermelon juice
3 cups greeeeeeen juice
bowl of kelp noodles with spicy sunflower seed sauce stuffed into romaine leaves and nori sheets, with cucumber on the side, followed by a little acai powder
2 cups water
*amazing* "$18,000 Jing Master" elixir from the Tonic Bar at Longevity :)
2 cups water

2. One Quart Water - It feels vital to me to drink a sufficient amount of water first thing, to set me up well for the rest of the day in terms of hydration. The appropriate amount for me at this point in my journey seems to be around a quart/litre of water. Drinking water is the next step for me after tongue scraping...I've usually been asleep for around 8 hours or so, which means for that whole time my body has been receiving no liquids and has also been in detox mode. If I make sure I get that quart of water in first thing, it helps to flush those toxins through and set up my hydration for the day...over the years I found that if I don't set myself up well for the day in this way, I would feel more irritable and prone to headaches during the day

on September the 27th I appreciated:

1 quart water
3 cups greeeeeeeen juice
bowl of Lydia's Berry cereal with fresh blueberries/peach and almond milk :)
2 cups water
cup of coconut kefir
can of freeze-dried durian with a few brazil nuts :)
2 cups water

on September the 28th it was VERY hot and I was blissed with:

1 quart water
1 quart watermelon/orange juice
1 quart watermelon/orange juice
3 cups greeeeeeeeen juice
1.5 cups spicy hazelnut milk
can of freeze-dried durian with sample of *amazing* new raw "gourmet" coconut butter ;O
2 cups water
cup of coconut kefir
2 cups water

3. Yoga/Meditation - Daily yoga/meditaton practice feels very important to me too - this is another component that feels very key for me to engage in, otherwise I will feel a lot less 'connected' during the day, more easily side-tracked, less centred and so on... Personally, the framework for my yoga/meditation practice is The Five Tibetan Rites series of stretches, which is an ancient set of movements said to help increase longevity and keep the chakras spinning in alignment. Over the six or so years that I've been practicing these moves daily, I have adapted the process to better suit my personal flow and lifestyle, including adding in various extra moves/stretches to the original five movements, plus also combining my meditation practice WITH the movements, to create a kind of flowing, moving meditation... To me, it feels soooo good to stretch my body out well after a night of sleep, to ground back into this physical reality and at the same time to be meditating on my intentions for the day, to set myself up for a fun flow ;) Perhaps some day soon we'll make a video to show you the exact moves I work through in the mornings, for now though, HERE is a great website to check out the original series of Tibetan Rites and HERE is a video of the Giannis demo-ing the moves too...
My meditations/visualisations involve a lot of gratitude, love and healing energy. I ask for love, light and healing to be sent through my body and being for this whole day, then send this same energy through to various friends, family members, animals, people who spontaneously come to mind and so on...I wrap up by asking for plenty of grace, love, compassion and so on to be available to me during the course of each daily experience, to help me show up as the brightest version of myself I can muster ;)

By the end of this kind of morning routine, I am feeling refreshed, rehydrated, back in my body, centred, filled with love and joy and ready to get to action...if you're feeling that *your* morning routine is more characterised by things like alarm clocks, rushing, stimulation and stress, then I hope you may find some inspiration here to seek more serenity as you ease your way into each day... ;) ENJOY :)

All love,
Ms. A. C. Stokes-Monarch. xxx

Awwww, I received *such* a sweet message from one reader, Laura, a few days ago...Laura came to hear us speak on the west coast some days back and at one point in my talk, I was mentioning the power of the simple "Ho'oponopono" prayer and the impact it can have on healing relationships...Laura took all of this onboard and here was her message to me a couple of days after the event:

"I wanted to say a special thank you for sharing the Ho'oponpono healing prayer of "Thank You, I Love You, Please Forgive Me, I'm Sorry".

I had been very sad lately, as I hadn't heard from my dearest, and closest friend in over two weeks. I decided, after your talk, to go to bed that evening visualizing my friend, and saying the prayer over and over sending him my love, gratitude, and compassion.

Imagine my surprise, and delight, when I finally received an e-mail from him the very next day. I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened the e-mail, but it was full of gratitude and compassion towards me - asking for my forgiveness.

I would say that is one powerful prayer! It certainly seemed to work!

Angela - I'm sending you, and Matt, my gratitude as well. Thank you for being there for the raw food community. You bring joy to my life, and many others, daily.

With Love and Gratitude,
Laura H."

LOVE it, thanks so much for sharing, Laura :) ...and if *you* are unfamiliar with this simple prayer, you can read more abt *my* use of it in an earlier blog post HERE - enjoy :)

All looooooooooooooove and resonating delight,

Animal Healing Meditation

WELL...we're mid-tour now, back on the road and we just enjoyed a full-on day of juicy flow here in Seattle at the International Day of Juice Feasting...info on our remaining events in the next couple of weeks can be found HERE...we hope to see you at an event if you're able to make it along :)

For now, I recently experienced another powerful meditation that I would love to share with you here. It involved clearing energy connected to all the animals I took part in consuming as I was growing up. I understand this may not be something everyone chooses to connect to, so please do skip over this section if this doesn't resonate for you...
The suggestion for this meditation was given while we were driving on our current tour and passed by one of the large two-storey animal transport trucks with all the holes in the sides. I am grateful that on this occasion, as I glanced up, the truck was empty...just seeing these vehicles always stirs up such deep grief and anger in my being though and this time, as I was breathing into that space, the suggestion was given for me to clear connections in my own energetic field towards all the animals I ever personally was involved in consuming in some form or another as I was growing up.
(continued below...)

on September the 9th we were still travelling and I loved:

1 quart water
2 cups greeeeeeeen juice
big handful of cherries
fresh fruits with raw almond butter: peach, figs, blueberries, little slice of *amazing* Coconut Creme Pie from Cafe Gratitude :)
2 cups water
can of freeze dried durian
2 cups water

on September the 10th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
1 quart watermelon/orange juice
kelp noodles with a spicy sunflower seed sauce, stuffed into lettuce leaves with an assortment of pickled veggies on the side, followed by a few slices of dried mango
2 cups water
3 cups greeeeeen juice
1 cup coconut kefir
mug of "sleepy" tea
1 cup water

I stopped eating animal products (except bee products) around nine or so years ago and was trailing off my consumption of them for a few years before then...however, as a child/adolescent, if a meal didn't contain meat, it seemed incomplete to me...and as most of the animal products I was consuming back then were highly processed and factory farmed, I shudder to think how many other beings' lives went towards my intake back then...many thousands for sure...lives almost certainly taken with no sense of respect, honour or gratitude for the animal.
So, a few days ago, I chose to feel into this meditation and indeed experienced very healing and powerful shifts as a result. I asked to be connected to the energy of all the animals I had ever been involved in consuming and was met with strong visions of countless masses of cows, chickens, pigs, lambs and other animals all assembled together and facing towards me. There was an overwhelming energy of intense fear and sorrow. It moves me to tears just to recall this interaction. I focused on these beings and began to send forth light, love and healing into the space between us, especially using the Ho'oponpono healing prayer of "Thank You, I Love You, Please Forgive Me, I'm Sorry". The more I repeated this prayer internally as I connected with these animal souls, the lighter the energy and the vision seemed to become - it felt to me like the animals were very happy to be 'acknowledged' finally for the role they played here and there was a great release of tension and fear energy.
(continued below...)

on September the 11th I appreciated:

1 quart water
mug of herbal tea
3 cups greeeeeeeeen juice
cherries, figs and blueberries with raw almond butter
2 cups water
2 cups greeeeeeeeeeeeeen juice
shared yummy raw meal at Thrive restaurant in Seattle including kelp noodle dish, salad and "nachos" with dips, followed by a little handful of dried jack fruit pieces
2 cups water

on September the 12th it was the International Day of Juice Feasting and I enjoyed:

1 quart water
shot of wild grass juice
1 quart watermelon/orange juice
few more shots of wild grass juice
3 tbsp spirulina crunchies
1 quart greeeeeeeeeeen juice
kelp noodle meal with sunflower seed sauce, stuffed into nori sheets and piled onto cucumber slices, followed by a little acai powder
mug of herbal tea
1 cup water

By the time I was finished sending these healing prayers, it felt like there was a very light and 'familial' bond between the animals and I - like the sense of relief and unity that can follow when people settle their differences and find love with each other again. It felt like a very rewarding experience and one that I am very grateful to have been led towards - this felt like an important clearing to me and I hope that any of you who are also drawn to such a meditation find it to be enriching for your lives too. Imagine what kinds of shifts might occur worldwide if many humans were to begin to connect with the souls of factory-farmed animals to initiate healing...I give thanks to all whose lives went towards fuelling my body and I send infinite love to all animals everywhere, humans included... ;)

All love,

Life Without Electricity... ;)

Our electricity went out recently for about 24 hours...it was a very interesting time...as it turned out, it was just an issue with OUR electricity (we thought everyone in our area was affected ;)...it's all fixed up again now, yet that day or so without electricity was such a valuable experience and eye-opener for me...mostly it showed me how bizarrely attached we are to electricity...it inspired me more than ever to get solar panels in place...and it was so interesting to me to note how the use of electricity is so deeply ingrained as part of my daily life that I couldn't even immediately identify if something involved the use of electricity or not...hmmmm, that might sound odd...let me try to explain further: I was acutely aware that something was different in my surroundings and it was now necessary to first question whether any action I wanted to take was currently going to be possible, with no 'current' ;) The answers to these questions were something I found that I actually needed to think about, e.g. "I want to use the toilet, is that possible?" Yes, the toilet doesn't use electricity. "I want to make a smoothie, is that possible?" Answer: No. " I want to go and buy something at the market, is that possible?" Yes, money doesn't involve electricity...and so on - I found myself questioning everything - electricity is so involved in so many aspects of my life and I'm so used to it just working that I couldn't instantly distinguish which activities involve electricity or not...if you haven't recently experienced life without electricity, I can imagine that this all maybe sounds quite odd - I encourage perhaps living for 24 hours without electricity though, to try this out and see how it feels to you... ;)

Now, I was considering this reality that I currently experience, in contrast to, for example, someone living in a tiny countryside village somewhere, who may use electricity for one light bulb for example. I imagine for them that in cases when the electricity is absent, it seems *much* easier for them to go about their lives as usual and they're very aware of what the impact of the absent electricity means - it just means no light bulb, which can be easily replaced with some candles or smthg similar - no big deal...whereas for us, electricity is the "hidden component" behind so much of what we're involved with daily that life becomes a little bit confused without it... ;) lol...

On July the 16th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
1 cup *amazing* granadilla/mandarin/orange juice
2 cups 'tree tomato' juice - nice ;)
2 cups greeeeeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
water of a young coconut, 1 tbsp bee pollen
2 cups greeeeeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
little bowl of mango/avocado ice cream, a papaya
20 chllorella tablets
shared cucumber salad meal with Mr. M, followed by a hand-stirred 'yumpot' of tahini mixed with maca, honey, chocolate extractand cinnamon
mug of horchata tea
1 cup water

Another aspect of life that became very apparent to me during this recent power 'outage' was how peculiar and blessed our online connections with other people all around the world are...when the portal to that huge inter-connecting web of individuals was snapped away at the trip of a circuit breaker, I suddenly felt this huge amount of gratitude for the connections we are able to foster through the internet with so many amazing friends worldwide...I reflected on life for raw foodies 20 or so years back, when internet access was a very rare thing indeed and raw foodies were few and far between, supping on wheatgrass juice and probably feeling kinda awkward ;) We are SO blessed to be able to share info and connect online as we do these days and to use this connection portal to arrange to meet people in person too...wow, we are so very blessed...may we remember this ;)
One friend was telling me recently that his impression of how things will likely unfold in the coming years in terms of energy/resources is that most likely power-outages, water shortages and so on will keep on getting more and more frequent...there will be no 'advance warning' about this, things will just gradually go more and more in that direction...so...bring on the solar panels and may we appreciate all the connections that we do have, while we still have them ;) lol...

on July the 17th I loved:

1 quart water
2 cups greeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
3 tbsp spirulina crunchies :)
water of a young coconut
a papaya
gorgeous salad straight from our garden - WOW :), followed by a hand-stirred 'yumpot' of tahini mixed with maca, honey, chocolate extract and cinnamon
2 cups water

on July the 18th I appreciated:

1 quart water
little cup of green juice
little cup of sugar cane juice
water of a young coconut
2 cups cucumber/sugarcane/lime juice
2 small papayas, 3 granadilla
1.5 cups almond milk with cinnamon, cardamom, stevia and maca :)
shared cucumber/jicama salad with Mr. M, with almond/dill 'cheese', stuffed into nori sheets, followed by a hand-stirred 'yumpot' of tahini mixed with maca, honey, chocolate extract and cinnamon
1 cup water

LOVE this 20-minute video with Jamie Oliver posted recently to TED.com, sharing his views on the obesity epidemic, disease and teaching children about food. Jamie lays out all the facts in his simple, down-to-Earth, Essex-boy kinda way ;) Some of the images and stories he shares of morbidly obese people in the USA are truly moving, for me at least...and the footage of children who are *clueless* as to which fruits and veggies are which is jaw-dropping for me too...wow, what a bizarre situation we've gotten ourselves into as a species...and Jamie is here as a no-nonsense beacon of clarity for simple food...how *wonderful* to see him invited to share on this topic at TED - love it...I hope you enjoy this video too (thanks to Ricki for sharing this link with us ;):

Gratitude

We survived a pretty intense car crash tonight. Our car is probably 'totalled', along with the car that hit us and thankfully there were no major human injuries…some cuts, aches, shock…mostly I'm feeling extremely grateful to be alive right now – experiencing something like this really helps puts things in perspective ;) This is the first car crash I've ever been in. I feel grateful right now for the opportunity to still be here and sharing the message I share…to still be able to dance and sing in this body…I note the fragility of life and I give major gratitude at this time of 'Thanksgiving' here in the USA, for the opportunity to simply be here and share, make, do, create, love, flow and enjoy…may all blessings be with all of you as your journeys unfold…

on November the 21st I loved:

1 quart water
2 cups goji berry juice blended with Marine Phytoplankton, Etherium Gold, Merlin's Elixir
30 chlorella 'nuts', 2 tbsp bee pollen
2 cups greeeeeeen juice: celery, cucumber, zucchini, fennel, leek, romaine, ginger, lemon
3 cups water
plate of YUMMY raw potluck food in Maine, including the BEST raw apple pie I've probably EVER had from Aimee (who apparently has a raw recipe book coming out soon – yeeeeee–HAH ;)
3 cups Aimee's 'Happy Tea'
2 cups water

Following this car crash today, we're most likely going to be Juice Feasting for at least a few days from tomorrow, to help our bodies to heal asap...and as you may have heard already, "Dave the Raw Truck Driver" has called for next Sunday, November the 29th, to be an international day of Juice Feasting, in honour of healing and also celebrating the work of the lovely Dr. Gabriel Cousens...so, maybe we'll still be JF–ing by then and perhaps you'll join the live, juicy celebrations kicking off all over the place? That would be delicious...to read more about this event and find out WHO "Dave the Raw Truck Driver" is, if you're not familiar with his awe–inspiring story, click HERE – enjoy those juices ;)

on November the 22nd I enjoyed:

1 quart water
cup of 'Happy Tea'
30 chlorella 'nuts', 2 Tbsp bee pollen
bowl of yummy chia pudding: blended together apples, persimmons, dulse, sunflower lecitihin, hand mixed in a bowl dry chia seed, mesquite powder, cinnamon powder, ashwaganda, maca, then added the blended fruits etc, stirred into yummmmmmm ;)
1 quart water
30 chlorella nuts, 2 Tbsp bee pollen
2 apples with two new cookie samples
3 cups goji juice with Marine Phytopankton, Merlin's Elixir, Etherium Gold
3 cups water

on November the 23rd I loved:

1 quart water
3 cups greeeeeeeen juice: celery, cucumber, fennel, spinach, parsley, romaine, ginger, lemon
an apple, 30 chlorella tablets, 2 Tbsp bee pollen
AMAZING gourmet raw meal with Jody Allen of LovingLifeCafe.com – raw tacos, cream of zucchini soup, cheesecake and ice cream – WOW – she's an amazing chef :) http://www.lovinglifecafe.com/new/
1 quart water

Here's a sweet old song that I heard recently, which really moved me – as I listened I felt my soul yearning to get to our land in Ecuador and enjoy a simple, grounded community life...I hope you enjoy it too – perhaps as you listen you may feel called to reflect on how blessed we all are to be here now...I know I am… ;) Turn up that volume and rock out your gratitude ;)

All love,
