Thank You, I Love You, Please Forgive Me, I'm Sorry...

I want to express today how much I love the energy of the Ho'oponopono 'mantra/prayer/blessing': Thank You, I Love You, Please Forgive Me, I'm Sorry. If you're not familiar with this healing process, here is smthg I wrote about it in "Raw Emotions":

Thank You, I Love You, Please Forgive Me, I Am Sorry
One of my favourite ways to dissipate awkward energies and painful emotions is to share these four blessings: thank you, I love you, please forgive me, I am sorry. You may recognise this as the Hawaiian healing process of ‘Ho’oponopono’, which is based on loving yourself and accepting responsibility for all that is within your reality. There is a wonderful story that accompanies this prayer. One ward for the ‘criminally insane’ in the State Hospital in Hawaii was home to those patients who had been declared more or less ‘untreatable’. A healer went to work there. He never met with any of the patients. He simply went and sat in an office and read over their medical files. As he read, he felt loving compassion and blessed each of them repeatedly with the healing prayer: ‘thank you, I love you, please forgive me, I am sorry.’ The transformation in the patients was remarkable. Their conditions shifted to such a degree that in the end, the hospital ward actually closed, as there was no longer any need for it…WOW! I love that story - for me it totally conveys the message of the power of our thoughts. So, next time you feel anger, disappointment, jealousy or resentment towards others, perhaps try saying this prayer - either out loud or internally - and watch the energy transform… You can find out more about this simple healing technique at http://www.ancienthuna.com.

Thank YOU. I Love YOU. Please Forgive Me. I'm Sorry. :)

So thank you for your kind words and honesty, I read your book at a shakey time and it helped me a great deal.

Today was 'officially' the last day of the 2010 Vilcabamba Raw Food Gathering...what an experience this has been, these last two weeks ;O
It seems there were around 120 or so 'raw' visitors here in the last couple of weeks and today we closed this phase of the gathering with a wonderful 'closing circle' :) We have shared many adventures and delights together in the last days: zip-lining, hikes, horse-rides, farm tours, talks, singing circles, massages, spa treatments, movie nights, potlucks, parties, meditations, work/playshops, yoga classes, healing sessions...what a blessing :) ...and there seem to be emerging intentions to play the game again next year too...more details to come... ;)
For now, there are many pictures on Facebook and the Raw Gathering Ning Community to peruse, plus I posted a set of pics on Flickr HERE and Mr. M has been posting videos regularly from here over at www.TheRawFoodWorld.tv - enjoy :)

I trust y'all enjoyed a delicious Love Day yesterday, whether your twin flame is with you in the physical or not...
I enjoyed a really luscious celebration with Mr. M - I think quite definitely *the* yummiest Valentines I've ever experienced :) I had *no* idea what we were doing with the day - Mr. M had secretly planned out a whole day of joys and I was simply called on to let go and enjoy the flow - I LOVED it...I started the day by handing out chlorella tablet samples from a basket to people at the Ojai farmer's market as we shopped (my universal greeeen love offering for the day ;), then we shimmied off south, first meeting with great friends and marvellous floral displays, then lunching at the ever-divine Au Lac :) :) :) Onwards to a fabulous Cirque de Soleil show in an actual circus tent, with spectacularly inspiring feats and tricks on stage from the uber-talented performers...what an amazing way to celebrate :)
When I was growing up, I'm not sure I ever once received a Valentines Day card - this was always a very painful time of the year for my fragile ego, so it is a genuine, nourishing joy for me now to have my beloved in my life to celebrate with, every day and especially on this day...I feel very blessed :)

Sending *YOU* all love, light and joy tooooooooo,

Monarch-Wolfe LIVE Call TONIGHT :)

Mmmmm, we had a wonderful time at the Living Light Expo in Fort Bragg last weekend. Thanks be to all of you who came along to play, or watched via the online streaming.

Mr. M and I had a booth, both gave talks and we even did a food demo together, demo-ing how we eat raw on the road ;) LOL - this was GREAT fun and we're actually considering now doing more food demos at our talks...we'll see how that unfolds... This was the first time we'd ever done a food demo with a live audience and we had NO idea how it would go - we felt like 5-year-olds let loose in a professional culinary school...and yet it went very well, seemingly and the audience seemed to genuinely love the chia pudding and apple-flax meal samples that we passed out :)

If you'd love to watch all the talks and food demos from the event, you can visit the Living Light site HERE and sign up to get access to all the yummy info. For the months of September and October you'll have 60 days to re-live the expo as many times as you like... ;)

Enjoy...

Mmmmmm, here are a couple of really sweet messages that came in recently about my book 'Raw Emotions':

"My husband and I are working through Raw Emotions (yes, we're doing the assignments!) and are being unbelievably changed. My husband has been reduced to tears by a number of the passages... just a-ha moments... just being able to name the box, if you get me. Thank you for writing this and for being such a positive female influence for me, my husband, and my daughter!

Many sweet blessings to you..."

Lisa Marie

"I have been wanting to thank you for your Juice Feasting handbook and also for Raw Emotions which have both helped me in my journey immensely. Raw Emotions has been 'someone' to turn to when I felt that I couldn't break the pattern of overeating, it has been a rock to me, providing I have the strength to cling to that rock - which I did, everything is ok. There is so much to thank you for but really only one thing - thank you so so much for being you and for sharing your self and making such a difference. You have helped me change my life.

Bless you wise woman Angela"

Love Laura xx

Awwwwww, thank YOU, lovely si*stars* :) My heart glows to know 'Raw Emotions' is helping catalyse significant shifts in people's lives and realities – LOVE it :) You can get the book HERE if you haven't delved into it yet...

There’s a book review I’ve been wanting to write here for a few weeks and it has felt challenging for me to get the words down that I want to use, to express how I feel about this piece of work. I think I’m ready now ;)
Evie’s Kitchen’ is UK raw food diva Shazzie’s latest book and it is all about raising healthy, happy children. This book had a huge impact on me, smthg akin to the effect I felt when I started to read the ‘Anastasia’ books. Once I started reading, I just didn’t want to stop, it felt like such a magical piece of writing to dive into, so rich, sincere, flowing with love, fascinating insights and inspirations.
The ‘heroine’ of the book, Evie, is Shazzie’s gorgeous little daughter, who is now four and a half. In this book, Shazzie shares from her heart about how their journey together so far has unfolded, along with masses of interesting info on natural parenting. Shazzie covers pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, co–sleeping, baby carrying, vaccines, natural healthcare and lots more. She writes with the abundant love and care of a mother, especially offering unparalleled attention to detail about all the nutritional needs of a growing little one – Vitamin D, B12 issues, protein, minerals – she covers it all. I also loved the section where Shazzie reveals what is in her ‘medicine chest’ and explains how she makes use of products like MSM, colloidal silver, vitamin C and so on as natural ‘medicines’ for friends and family. In one section, Shazzie shares the story of Evie’s first few years here – pre–womb, in the womb and outside and I found this a very moving tale to follow, truly shared from the heart.
The latter part of the book contains over 180 raw food recipes all designed with children in mind. These are the things Evie has been eating since she got here (other than breastmilk ;)... The recipes are conveniently divided up into ages, e.g. things to start offering from 6 months, from 1 year etc...
The luscious full–colour vibrant photos make this book an absolute visual TREAT – the recipes all look amazing and most of them of course have very simple ingredients, as they were formulated with children in mind – yummmmm :)
I absolutely LOVE this book. I feel like it will be my closest handbook as and when we start to bring children into this world and I’ll refer back to it very often. I actually feel compelled these days to send this book to raw women I know who are pregnant, or people who are raising children and could use a bit more vibrancy on their plates ;) There is just SO much amazing info in here that I feel it’s essential reading for anyone wanting to raise healthy little ones...
One little suggestion for anyone in the US especially – the measurements in this book are in the metric system, not cups/teaspoons etc. SO, our best suggestion for you if you’d like to use the recipes in this book is to get hold of a simple little set of measuring scales for your kitchen (if you don’t already have some), so that you can measure out the ingredients.
As far as I know, we are the only people currently selling this book in N. America and we’re very happy to have it on offer...it is a true raw GEM :) You can see more about the book and purchase copies HERE. We've already gone through boxes of this book since it was released, it is very well loved :)
I truly hope you fall in love with this book too and appreciate it as much as I do. Thank you so much Shazzie for sharing this work of love :)

All love,
Angelalalalalaaaaaaaaaa. xxx

Who'd like a slice of Raw SPAM...???

HELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :)))
I’m back :) Apologies for being suddenly ex communicado this last week – Blogger decided to run some tests on this blog, checking for spam – well, I guess they realised in the end that no raw foodist would likely be spreading SPAM around ;) LOL...and so we’re back in business...yeeeee-HAH... :)
I hope you’ve had a great week – we’ve been having fun. We went down to Christchurch, further south in New Zealand, where we spoke to a lovely group of vibrant beings...we heard some great healing stories, including a plumber whose knee was so inflamed, he could barely touch it or walk – he felt like he’d ‘tried everything’ to relieve it and didn’t know what else to do…then he heard abt the idea of colonic irrigations to relieve stress on the body and ‘unplug the sink’ of the blocked-up colon ;) I guess maybe it appealed to his plumber’s mind and he got to work on making his own enema kit from a few things he had laying around, used the enema and found that within 2 DAYS his knee was back to normal :))) WOW – we love hearing stories like that :))) People picking up simple concepts, taking responsibility for their OWN health (instead of turning to a doctor/allopathic pills, for example) and relieving their symptoms…beautiful :)
Thanks to all of you who came along to the talk...we speak next in Golden Bay on April the 13th, then Wellington on the 19th, Melbourne on the 23rd...see you there…??? ;)

Ok, hold on tight for an unprecedented TRIPLE-whammy of food logs today:

On April the 3rd I had:

1.5 quarts water
1 quart watermelon/tangelo juice
1 pint cucumber/dandelion/lettuce/spinach/cabbage/carrot juice
about 12 fresh figs, straight from the trees
2 cups water
3 cups cucumber/dandelion/lettuce/spinach/cabbage/carrot juice
little bowl of Mulberry magic: dried mulberries blended with sesame seeds, water and spirulina
little meal of pumpkin seeds with wakame seaweed fronds, then avocado, karengo seaweed and apple slices stuffed in romaine lettuce leaves
1.5 quarts water

on April the 4th I had:

1.5 quarts water
2.5 cups watermelon/orange juice
1 pint ‘Chocolate Milk’: spinach/romaine/carrot juice
bowl of figgy pudding: fresh figs blended with oranges and lucuma/maca/vanilla/cinnamon powders
2 cups water
1 tbsp green powder
handful of wakame seaweed with pumpkin seeds
2 cups rooibus tea
½ a watermelon
1 quart water

We had a really interesting link sent through a couple of days ago from Kate Magic. CLICK HERE and see which way you see the dancer twirling – clockwise or counterclockwise? People who mainly use the right side of the brain (creative, flowing, intuitive, open) see the dancer turning clockwise, whereas those who tend to be in their left hemispheres (logical, linear, detail-orientated, data-crunching ;) see her spinning counterclockwise. What do YOU see? I think this is fascinating. When I first looked, I only saw her spinning clockwise, on and on for ages, then suddenly it flipped, when I was laughing at one point, then after a while, back to clockwise...the Monarch on the other hand was flip-flopping between each direction from the outset – I guess that makes him...ambi-hemispherical or smthg ;) It was very interesting to be looking at the same image at the same time, with one of us seeing it going in one direction and the other in the opposite direction – wow ;) For those of you who are interested in hearing more abt left/right brain antics, you can check out the video from Jill Bolte Taylor on TED.com that Mr. Monarch recently recommended on his blog – he LOVES it ;)

Ok, left-brains at the ready – more food logs to digest...

on April the 5th I had:

1.5 quarts water
2 cups watermelon/orange juice
1 tbsp green powder
bowl of blended apples/mulberries mixed with ground flaxseed and spirulina
1 quart water
meal of cucumber yum: grated cucumber, mushed with avocado, finely diced onion, mixed sprouts and karengo seaweed, stuffed in lettuce leaves, with wakame fronds and pumpkin seeds on the side :)
1 quart water
2 pears
1.5 quarts watermelon/orange juice
2 cups water

on April the 6th I had:

1.5 quarts water
1 quart watermelon/tangelo juice
24oz celery/parsley/spinach/lettuce/sprouts/carrot juice
belly-full of fresh figs picked straight from the trees, along with the first persimmon of the season, a little handful of delicious concord grapes and 2 apples – YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :)
1 quart water
20oz celery/parsley/spinach/lettuce/sprouts/carrot juice
cucumber yummm: grated cucumber, mushed with avocado, finely diced onion, mixed sprouts and karengo seaweed, stuffed in lettuce leaves, with wakame fronds and pumpkin seeds on the side :)
1.5 quarts water

I’m VERY excited to announce that there is going to be a RAW OLYMPICS taking place this December, from the 13th -17th, at the Kalani Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii. WOW :) I hope we can be there...spaces are open right now for people to register to attend, compete and get involved in any way that helps their right brain hummmmmm ;) The basic idea is that raw foodists’ bodies, abilities and health can literally be in a different league to other athletes – so, let’s gather all those on this journey who might want to sweat, bounce and jiggle together, on a more ‘even’ playing field of all-raw kiddies ;) I am particularly intrigued by this event, as I’ve long felt drawn to suggest there ought to be a ‘Cacao Olymics’ event at the Raw Spirit Festival, wherein participants would ingest large amounts of the ancient brown stuff and see what super-abilities pour forth, as they go about tasks like high-jumping, long-jumping or rope-skipping ;) LOL...well, while I still think that would be fascinating to witness, I’m also delighted to see that someone is taking the far more sensible approach of simply having a RAW Olympics, not based around cacao ;) Hmmm, I wonder if the attendees will be ‘tested’ for cacao before participating...???
You can explore more at http://www.rawolympics.org.

On April the 7th I had a juicy day of:

1.5 quarts water
60oz watermelon/orange juice :O
2 cups water
16oz celery/parsley/spinach/carrot juice (potassium broth)
1 quart beetroot/celery/apple juice
1 tbsp wheatgrass powder
3 cups watermelon/orange juice
3 cups zucchini/carrot juice
2 cups water

on April the 8th I had:

2 cups water
1 quart nettle tea/water
3 cups watermelon/orange juice
3 cups celery/dandelion/lettuce/zucchini/carrot juice
handful of fresh figs, 3 outrageous ripe persimmons, 2 apples – all picked by hand, straight from the orchard – BLISS :)
3 cups water
3 cups celery/cabbage/zucchini/lettuce/carrot juice
bowl of cucumber yummmm: grated cucumber, mushed with avocado, finely diced onion, mixed sprouts and karengo seaweed, stuffed in lettuce leaves
3 cups water

Thanks for all the juicy feedback that continues to flow in about ‘Raw Emotions’ – it’s so rewarding to hear about your experiences. One blogger, Tanisha, had this to see about the book:

“This book is by far one of the best books I have read on how to stop utilizing food as a comfort. I bought this book and 3PM on Saturday last week and finished reading it by 9PM. It is not a short book but it kept my attention. Angela talks about how we use cooked foods to comfort us, and gives tons of tips on how to push away the food and eat only when necessary.”

Thanks Tanisha :) You can check out her whole post HERE and if you have not yet delved into the vibrant flow of Raw Emotions yourself, you can pick up your own copy HERE.

ENJOOOOOOOOOOOOY :)

Reviews, RawMan and a Recipe :)

Raw Emotions’ has been on sale for about 3 weeks now and the feedback for it continues to GlOOooOOOOOooWWWW :) Thanks to all of you who have been letting us know what this book means to you and the shifts you are setting in motion in your own lives as a result of reading... :) Here’s what Sara in Italy sent us:

“Ciao Angela, I have read your new e-book Raw Emotions, I have to say that it is the best raw food book I have ever read so far (and I have read many :), you have done such an amazing work and I could totally relate on everything you have gone through. Very, very good job! Thanks you so much for it! Sara”

WOW, thanks Sara, feedback doesn’t get much more rewarding than that ;)
Uber-slick ‘Green Living’ site GLiving also recently posted a nice little article on Raw Emotions too, called ‘Raw Emotions: Got Food Issues?’. You can check that out HERE if you didn’t see it on their site yet: http://gliving.tv/bodydesign/raw-emotions-got-food-issues/

I love the last paragraph especially:

“It actually sounds like worthwhile reading for non-overeaters. After all, we all have issues, regardless of how they manifest themselves. And the fact that this information is coming not from a scientist crunching data in a lab, but from a living, breathing woman whose body is her showroom gives it credibility.”

LOL, thanks guys ;)

On March the 29th I had:

1.5 quarts water
1 cup cucumber/spinach/lettuces/beetroot/carrot/pak choi juice
3 cups beetroot/apple juice
bowl of figgy pudding: fresh figs and dried mulberries blended together and swirled with spirulina powder – WOW :)
1.5 quarts water
20oz spinach/carrot/pak choi juice
bowl of cucumber yum: grated cucumber mushed with sunflower seed pate, avocado, finely sliced onion, mixed sprouts and karengo seaweed, served in lettuce leaves
2 quarts water

While we’re on the subject of little reviews, dear Melissa over at ‘RawMom’ recently posted a write-up of her experiences learning to play and dance with some of our poi. You can check that out here:

OOOOOOO and while we're on the subject of fun YouTube vids, I would HEARTILY recommend you tickle your amazement nodules by checking out the spectacular 'Adventures of RawMan and Green Girl', made by Ron Gilmore and recently shown at the Raw Film Festival - WOW :) This 7 minute short is JUST like an old-style superhero animation - with RAW superheroes :))) LOVE IT :) We just watched it tonight and were repeatedly exclaiming 'WOW' out loud - thanks for sharing, Ron, I think it's AMAZING :) You can see it HERE:

on March the 30th I had:

1.5 quarts water
slice of watermelon
20oz spinach/pak choi/carrot/cabbage juice
bowl of figgy pudding: fresh figs blended with fresh oranges, lucuma/yacon/vanilla/cinnamon powders and spirulina :)
1.5 quarts water
20oz romaine lettuce/dandelion/red pepper/carrot/cucumber juice
bowl of cucumber yum: grated cucumber mushed with sunflower seed pate, avocado, finely sliced onion, mixed sprouts and karengo seaweed, served in lettuce leaves
2 cups water
½ a watermelon
2 cups water

Ok, one final special treat for today...many of you seemed to be intrigued to know the contents of Mr Monarch’s spectacular spontaneous Easter surprise cake. WELL, charmer that he is, he pieced together the recipe for me to pass on to you – SWEET :) Here it is:

Ext-RAW-dinary Easter Layer Cake

*Blend 20- 25 Turkish dried figs in enough water to create a creamy consistency.

*Pour mixture into a big bowl and add:
2.5 cups of dried mulberries
1/2 a cup of diced dried figs
4 tablespoons of almond butter
2 tablespoons of tahini

*Let it all soak for at least 4 hours.

*Return to the mixture and throw in a tablespoon of vanilla powder, then mix thoroughly.
*Divide this mixture up into two bowls, making it ALMOST even but not quite.
*Add 1 cup of yacon powder to the bowl that has less in it and mix thoroughly.
*Put a layer of the ‘non-yacon’ mixture on the base of your display plate, then a layer with the yacon mixture, then the rest of the non-yacon mixture
*Then spread the rest of the yacon mixture around the entire top of the cake as a frosting.
*Decorate with dried or fresh fruit pieces, or as desired :)
ENJOY :)

Goddess Gaia Rising...

WOW, what a yummy first couple of days of life-out-in-the-world ‘Raw Emotions’ has enjoyed :) Thank you all SO much for all the beautiful comments that have been coming in – I’m finally getting somewhat caught back up with email again now ;)
Here’s a moving comment left anonymously by a dear soul, on this blog:

“I've started reading raw emotions, and it is truly a blessing. Reading it gave me new insight into my situation, and the courage to think about leaving an emotionally toxic relationship I have in my life (one with a person) and an equally abusive relationship that I have by punishing myself with food. Thanks Angela! Although the focus of your book isn't toxic people, the healthy, loving ideas in it give readers the tools and the confidence to reclaim their lives from toxic people, abusers, and addictions.”

Wow, thanks for the feedback and all blessings to you as your own healing unfolds...
Here is another sweet little review a reader in Alaska recently posted to her blog - http://rawfoodcoldclimate.blogspot.com/ :

“I purchased Angela Stokes Raw Emotions today, and it will be my trusted companion for the rest of this journey. I know this is my key to moving forward in the face of an amazing upwell of emotional detox. This book inspired me to break out my highlighter by page 10, the back of page 18 has a poem that I will keep to myself written on it, and by page 21 I was truly connecting to the heart of where I am right now.”

Thanks Kristi – I hope you continue to enjoy the book :) If you haven’t delved into Raw Emotions yet, you can see an excerpt HERE. Enjoy :)

On March the 9th I had:

1.5 quarts water
½ watermelon
16oz celery/lettuce/cucumber/parsley/carrot/ginger juice
bowl of grated cucumber mixed with avocado pieces, mixed sprouts, karengo seaweed and finely chopped cilantro, served in lettuce wraps and nori sheets
1.5 quarts water
16oz celery/lettuce/cucumber/parsley/carrot/ginger juice
bowl of ‘gingerbread’ yum: soaked goji berries blended with pine nuts, served with fresh raspberries and banana pieces – YUMMM :)
1.5 quarts water

On another subject entirely, Terri wrote in to say:

“I have another question for you....Where do you get your clothing? What is it made of?
Terri in Texas”

Thanks for the Q Terri. I love beautiful clothing and was often frustrated in my obese days with the limited range of clothes on offer in stores for ‘plus sizes’. Since losing the weight and changing about 10 clothing sizes in the process, I’m now MUCH happier with the clothing choices available ;)
When I first started to fit into smaller clothing sizes, however, I felt quite overwhelmed by all the choices available. I found it hard to focus – it seemed like there was suddenly just so much choice. I also felt uncomfortable still in stores with smaller sizes. As a teenager, I had many unpleasant experiences in clothing stores, feeling awkward and out-of-place while I waited for others to try things on – I always felt shame and avoided the shop assistants, who I feared were disgusted by me. I’ve since slowly softened into the idea though that it is actually ok for me to be in those stores and my awareness of what I really want in life has slowly refined too - so, these days I am delighted to make very specific choices about the clothes I purchase.
I choose almost only organic cotton, bamboo or hemp clothes and aim to buy from small retailers, whom I preferably meet in person. I want to adorn my body with clothes that have been made with love and consciousness, rather than in a sweat-shop by someone who is unlikely living their passion. I am completely willing to pay more for a few beautiful pieces of well-made, loved clothing, than get many cheaper, ‘empty-feeling’ pieces. Life is all about choices and we vote with our ‘dollar’ every single time we buy things. I want to feel great about the choices I make and the businesses I support, so that’s why I aim for eco clothing companies. The mainstream cotton industry is one of THE most polluting industries in the world, with shocking rates of cancer among workers. So, even if I see GORGEOUS clothes made with 100% cotton and it’s not ORGANIC cotton, I’m not really interested these days... My ‘wardrobe’ (read: 'backpack ';) is still in transition though, as my older garments are phased out and all new eco-purchases are added in, as I find garments I really resonate with. As for second-hand clothes, or those made from RECYCLED materials – I’m definitely open to those options too...
Here are ten of my favourite eco-clothing makers and suppliers to check out, in no particular order:

Mountains of the Moon - hemp, organic cotton and more
Organic Avenue - FABULOUS eco-outlet in New York
Sweetgrass - long-lasting, durable hemp clothes
Texture - 2 sweet girls in the Pacific NW making 'clothing with a conscience'
Under the Canopy - eco-underwear - oooooo lala ;)
Spellwear - magical hemp clothes made from the UK
Ecolution - more yummy hemp creations
Rawganique - HUGE warehouse of eco-clothes, based in BC, Canada.
Not Just Pretty - absolutely FABULOUS site also in BC, PACKED with eco-clothes
The Natural Store - UK based with lots of great UK eco-labels like Ciel, Enamore, Gossypium.

Juicy News, Green Powders and Gifts from Gaia...

OOoooo La Laalalalalalaaaa – we are now officially launched into liquid world with the start of the Global Juice Feast yesterday on March the 1st. Globaljuicefeast.com is all a-buzz with activity and I’m happy to hear that many of you have also been enjoying listening in to the set of JF conference calls we just put up on the RawReform store. I have three pieces of yummy juicy news for you today:

1. We now have the first, FREE conference call up there for download too. This was the hour-long call we did prior to recording the main set of 4 calls and it’s available now as a free download from HERE. We also put together a little package of all four of the main conference calls for a reduced price of $35 for all 4, instead of $10 each if bought separately :) YAY – you can see that package and access all the juicy info HERE.
2. Those juicy yumsters Justin and Heidi over at RawFoodRightNow.com just posted their review of my book ‘A Juice Feaster’s Handbook’ – thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it :) – you can see their review HERE.
3. I’m also happy to say that I’ve reached a personal conclusion about my participation in this year’s GJF – I’m going to have a straight juicy day once a week – most likely every Monday, depending on scheduling and starting TOMORROW :) Back on the juices for Ms. Stokes on the ‘morrow…yeeeeeeeeeee-HAH… :)

On March the 1st I had:

1.5 quarts water
1.5 cups nettle tea
3 mandarins
20oz celery/cucumber/parsley/kale/radish/lettuce/carrot juice
bowl of raspberry bliss: soaked dried mulberries blended with fresh raspberries, with LSA (ground linseed/sunflower seeds/almonds) stirred in, plus more berries for chewability
1 quart water
2 cups peppermint tea
10 amazing, dark prune plums
18oz celery/cucumber/kale/apple/ginger juice
½ watermelon
1 quart water

Here’s a quick reader Q from Mary:

“A question> How do you consume your green powder? I have been taking it regularily now for some weeks just in water, however, I certainly DO NOT enjoy the taste and sometimes it can make me feel a bit nauseous. You do have any tips on how to do it better? Blessings, Mary”

Hmmm...well, to be honest, I just eat green powder with a spoon, straight from the package...LOL...I love it – especially the wheatgrass powder we have here at the moment – it is sweeeeeeeeeeeet – gimme a spoonful of that any day over fresh wheatgrass juice ;) Green powders can vary HUGELY in taste though, depending on which you use – an algae, like spirulina or chlorella? Or grasses/veggie mixes? Or smthg that has a huge range of ingredients in it? Personally, I prefer the tastes of ‘cleaner’ green powders usually – like straight wheatgrass, or straight spirulina for example, rather than complex mixes. I do REALLY like Greener Grasses which is from Healthforce Nutritionals and is a simple blend of 6-8 grasses, no fillers...I find that the taste of green powders starts to get a bit ‘messy’ usually when there’s dozens of different ingredients, besides which, sometimes I really wonder about the body’s ability to decipher the mixed messages in smthg complex like that… ;) So, it really all depends which green powder you’re using...for example, I really don’t appreciate much the taste of chlorella – whereas I LOVE spirulina and can often be found with a green ‘spirulina’ mouth when supplies are nearby ;) If it’s spirulina you’re dealing with, I’d suggest a very simple recipe is to mash up an avocado and stir in 1 tbsp of spirulina and the juice of one lemon (or half, depending on how juicy it is). I used to eat that every day at one point – LOVED it :) Other ways to get more green powder into your life: throw it in smoothies/juices or sneak small amounts of it into sweet meals (e.g. sometimes we sneak some extra greenery into things like the ‘blended mulberry’ meals we make, or ‘apple flax’). If you use small amounts of green powder like that, with stuff that tastes yummy, you’re getting your extra nutrients in, without pulling ‘yuck’ faces ;) Also, the ‘nauseous’ reaction you’re having could be for a number of reasons – it might be you’re simply using a powder that doesn’t agree well with you OR it might be that the power of those greens is creating a little detox reaction in you…
Hope that helped – I’d recommend getting on the tasty greens, like Greener Grasses – or better yet, go mainly for FRESH greens, rather than powders anyway ;)

on March the 2nd I had:

1 quart water
3 cups nettle tea
3 mandarins
20oz celery/cucumber/kale/apple/ginger juice
bowl of the Monarch Savoury Speciality: grated cucumbers, avo, sunflower seed pate, garlic, spring onions, arugula, mixed sprouts and karengo seaweed, wrapped in lettuce leaves and nori sheets
1.5 quarts water
few slices of dried papaya, ½ tbsp green powder
bowl of mulberry fruit bliss: soaked dried mulberries blended with fresh blueberries and served swirled with fresh cherries and a little LSA (ground linseed/sunflower seeds/almonds)
1 quart water

I am feeling SO blessed and blissed in this little corner of paradise we currently find ourselves caretaking...this morning I awoke and wandered out onto the dewy grass for my morning yoga and was greeted by a graceful slither of rainbow, positioned directly in the space between the trees that guides our view down to the ocean...quite, quite beautiful...it only lasted a few minutes...I took a photo – you can see it here to the right – not sure if you can make out the rainbow from here – I hope so :) Then this afternoon I went for a delicious wander in this local area and found my way into an incredible grove full of ENORMOUS old rocks and unfathomably twisted trees that have worked their way up from the floor of this shady grove towards the sunlight way above, clinging to the sides of the rocks in the most bizarre formations – it’s an incredible little pocket of life there…take a look at this picture I took and you can see one of the trees with these huge roots stretching all the way down to the ground down the sides of this boulder...it actually almost seemed like a film set, the whole place – it was just so amazing to think that a place like this actually exists, untouched, except for a pathway to gawp from... ;)
While we’re on the subject of beautiful, inspiring locations, dear ladies and gentleman, we have a request for information from a dear raw chap who is seeking guidance on places to enjoy in Kauai for extended stays this summer...anything yummy to share? Or raw-friendly places anywhere in Hawaii would be interesting to know about for that matter...please send any leads to angela@rawreform.com and I’ll compile all the info and post here – thanks :)

One love,
