Degrees, Please...

Thomas and I graduated this week!! Boy, is that a relief! We spent the week at graduation activities. Wednesday night I had a wonderful dinner/program with just my own social work class because we weren't allowed to have our own graduation this year. We had a catered dinner and desserts and then our families came to join us for a program and reception. I was asked to speak and one of my favorite faculty members spoke also. I was really nervous preparing all week but I think it went okay. I barely made it through it without bawling! We were "hooded" here since they won't do that in the big college graduations anymore.

On Thursday we packed for China all day and then attended BYU Commencement where President Uchtdorf and Elder Nelson spoke. We then went to Mimi's Cafe with both of our parents and both sets of my grandparents for dinner. Friday we attended Convocation where we received our diplomas (of course just the covers). Since no Bachelors students were allowed to walk before any Masters students, Thomas and a couple other social work spouses had to walk a couple people behind us, but it was close enough. I got to sit by Thomas down on the floor of the Marriott Center for the rest of the thousands that graduated from our college. It was so long! We then went with our families to Applebees for lunch. It was a fun week! Saturday brought more packing, meetings and rehearsals and we leave for China Monday!

It's a....

GIRL!!! We are having a baby girl!!

We are so excited! I totally knew it too. The baby is on the right track, with no problems to report, and is moving around like crazy in there! And no, we are not telling what the name is... but I love it!

A Busy Week!

I cannot believe it has been so long since my last post... so much has happened!

Baby update: I am now 20 weeks along and we go in for our first ultrasound tomorrow! We are really excited. I am feeling better, but still not great. I am now able to function almost normally with only the occasional horrible day of throwing up.

Virginia update: We found a wonderful townhouse style apartment in Richmond that we love! It has three bedrooms and a basement with a big family room, so we have plenty of space for anyone who wants to come visit us. We will be living in the same complex as a lot of other LDS dental student families that have a good mommy support group. We are excited to have access to a pool, tennis courts, lots of lawn and a big playground. Also, Butter Cat will no longer be a contraband kitty!

We plan to send Thomas, his sister and nephew across the country in a moving truck on July 9th and I will fly out on the 13th with Butter to meet them. We are excited to move, especially since we now have a place to stay. I am not planning on looking for a job until after we are used to having a baby in the house. Thomas will start school on July 28th.

School update: This week is really exciting since we are both graduating!! Finally! Thomas will get his Bachelors in History and I will get my Masters in Social Work. We have both been really stressed finishing up finals and papers but the end is in sight! We are excited for a fun week filled with celebrations and family.

China update: We are headed to China in one week! We will be there almost a month with the folk dance ensemble. There will be lots of performances and some opportunities to meet with members and other dance groups. I am nervous about traveling (we will be taking 7 planes and have bus rides) and fear I will be quite ill a lot of the trip. We are also nervous about the food (lots of seafood, strange delicacies, and spicy food, all of which will not go over well) and have begun packing quite a bit of snacks. But who could pass up China?? We will hopefully find a place to post during the trip to keep everyone updated.

Job update: As of tomorrow, both Thomas and I will be officially unemployed. Scary! I finished up my internship two weeks ago and finished up my tap class at BYU last week and submitted the grades this week. Thomas will finish at Tahitian Noni tomorrow- they aren't letting him come back after China unless he reapplies, which looks dim since we'll only be around for a month. So... we will live off loans, hooray! We are pretty scared, but hope that paying our tithing will reap some blessings.

Well, that is all for now. We will hopefully have some good news after our ultrasound tomorrow!
