Where do I start? So much has happened these past few months I don't know where to begin. Our little boy Porter is growing up fast and brings so much joy to our little family. He is 9 months old and has mastered crawling. There is no where he can't go! Once he has his mind set there is nothing that can stop him. =) Porter has an obsession with cords. From cell phone chargers, to the Hair dryer cord, he loves any cord he can get a hold of. He also loves cat toys. It's funny to watch porter swing around a cat toy and have both of our cats sway their head back and forth as they watch him play with THEIR toys.
Through our short time of knowing Porter we have discovered that he has a great love for music....haha, and animals. He gets so excited when we crank his mobile to the point where he giggles and screams with excitement. There are times when he is crying and I know that as soon as I crank the mobile, life will be good according to Porter. As I mentioned, he is a huge animal lover. We have two big American Bulldogs, Tank and Bailey, and he will get so excited when they come say hi by sniffing his face. He just thinks it is the funniest thing. And then there's the cats. We have two cats, Marco and Bella, Marco being the patient/I'll take whatever attention I can get, and Bella being the "I dare you to touch me" kind of cat. Porter likes to see just how much hair and skin he can grab in one handful. We are trying to teach him the word "soft!"
Porter looks forward to bath time! He could spend all day in the tub if I'd let him. There are times when Randy will put him in the tub and read his school books while watching him closely.
We have been introducing Porter to a sippy cup and he has done very well with it. I am not as worried now about transitioning him from bottles to the sippy cup. He now has four teeth that have just recently come through so he will be able to start eating more chunkier foods. yaya!
Porter is such a great addition to our family and we love him so much. Seeing Randy with Porter just makes me fall in love all over again. He is the best Dad in the world and I know there is nothing he wouldn't do for his little boy. I love to see the way Porter's face lights up when his Daddy walks in the room. It makes me excited for the future to think of how many things Porter will learn from his Dad and how many messes he will make in the process.
Several months ago we decided to do what some say as "the impossible". We sold our house and moved onto 12 acres in Golden Valley, AZ with no power, no water, no internet, no local phone, and no propane! Call us crazy.....yeah! We found a mobile home that needed some TLC (carpet, paint, tile, roofing, windows, etc.) and moved it onto our 12 acres. Our property is beautiful, right up close to the mountains. We have the most awesome view outside all our windows. After our house was moved onto our land we had just a few weeks to get it all fixed up, get ourselves packed and moved in. It was a very stressful time! It wasn't just thinking about the basics but we had to think about where our next shower was going to come from, how we were going to keep our food cold, etc. There were times I felt like we bit off more than we could chew.
We now have propane, a windmill, a solar panel, a generator, water (we have to haul it), wireless internet (we are getting real internet and phone installed in a few weeks) and a home that is livable. We do not have power all the time but that is a work in progress. I can't tell you how excited I was the day we had hot water =). All through out this adventure, I find myself constantly saying "I knew I married the right guy". Randy can do just about anything! I don't think there is a leak he can't fix, a shed he can't build, and a hole he can't dig! He is the handiest of all handy men. I am blessed to have such a talented husband.
