50 Things Happenning to me recently
I realized that I have not blogged for a very long time. So I guess I will be putting everything in bullet form to summarize it.
Maybe let's start from around April before my exams started...
1. Completed Jaume Torres's 100 levels of liposome quiz. A lot of calculations at the later levels which was tedious but can be done using excel.
2. For tuttiquanti, I managed to hit level 30 but I realized that you need to get at least 40% of quiz in order to enjoy the reward of 50% score in the overall CA marks.
3. Jang Geum Suk came to Singapore while I was at NTU, going through the virology past year papers with Jie Yun and Mei Hui.
4. I am disappointed with mastering comm's resume results.
5. I got a B grade for my resume.
6. I got a B minus for the case study assignment from mastering comm.
7. Although oral results not released, I can tell that I have done badly. But I don't care.
8. Jie Yun sent an SMS to me on that night asking me whether I think I have done badly for my oral. Jie Yun was really stressed about the oral results. But I replyed her not to think about it anymore.
9. This semester, most of the modules that I have taken are on MCQ except for bioinformatics which may a bit of written work to be done.
10. Lynn sent us some notebooks from Korea.
11. Biophysics paper was really difficult to do.
12. Not enough time to complete the biophysics paper. I have given up for most of the 3 marks MCQ. I just randomly fill in the answers.
13. Bioinformatics is okay except for Dr Mu Yuguang's question.
14. Li Jiming's questions were rather predictable.
15. After Bioinformatics paper, we went to the toilet located near the swimming pool and this was really my first time seeing a swimming pool.
15. Biochemistry paper was also okay as we were prepared for the MCQ questions.
16. Immunology paper was the most unexpected of all my modules.
17. Immunology paper was more difficult than the CA paper.
18. KLaus's questions on interpreting the FACS plot was really difficult to me.
19. B cell questions are also difficult as well.
20. Virology paper was rather straight forward.
21. Virology paper is the only paper that I have left early.
22. After I have finished my exams, the only module that I am really worried about is biophysics only.
23. I have watch You're Beautiful during my exams.
24. I really want the pig rabbit from the drama.
25. Junsu and his brother, Zuno came to Singapore during my exam period.
26. Lina came back with a sore throat after Zuno's showcase.
27. I feel sad after finished watching You're Beautiful. So I decided to watch again.
28. I bought the ipod touch recently.
29. ipod touch was really funny to use, very cool.
30. I have put in You're Beautiful into my ipod touch.
31. We have celebrated Mothers' Day over at Grandmother's house.
32. Yan Xia was not able to attend the celebration because she was at Japan for holiday.
33. After Mothers' Day celebration, Peh Ching, Lina and I went to Suntec.
34. We took the Circle line MRT to Suntec.
35. My first ride with Circle Line, damn fast.
36. Lina and I bought a Strawberry Shortcake for my mummy's birthday.
37. Strawberry Shortcake from Four Leaves was really very nice.
38. I have cut my hair.
39. This is the shortest hair I ever had since primary one.
40. Later RTC part-timers and I will be celebrating birthdays for Affiq, Michelle and Tang En.
41. My results released recently.
42. I got A minus for my Bichemistry.
43. A minus for Virology.
44. A minus for Bioinformatics.
45. B minus for Immunology.
46. C plus for Biophysics.
47. I am glad that Biophysics passed.
48. No more Jaume Torres.
49. No more Biophysics.
50. YEA!!!
I guess this is the amount of things I have recorded down for myself.

Something interesting!!!
An Atheist Professor of Philosophy was speaking to his Class on the problem Science has with GOD, the ALMIGHTY. He asked one of his new Christian students to stand.
---
Professor : You are a Christian, aren't you, son?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor : So, you believe in GOD?
Student : Absolutely, sir.
Professor : Is GOD good?
Student : Sure.
Professor : Is GOD ALL - POWERFUL?
Student : Yes.
Professor : My Brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn't. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?
(Student was silent)
Professor : You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fella. Is GOD Good?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Is Satan good?
Student : No.
Professor : Where does Satan come from?
Student : From...GOD...
Professor : That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this World?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And GOD did make everything. Correct?
Student : Yes.
Professor : So who created evil?
(Student did not answer)
Professor : Is there Sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the World, don't they?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor : So, who created them?
(Student had no answer)
Professor : Science says you have 5 Senses you use to Identify and Observe The World around you. Tell me, son...have you ever feen GOD?
Student : No, sir.
Professor : Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?
Student : No, sir.
Professor : Have you ever Felt your GOD, Tasted your GOD, Smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any Sensory Perception of GOD for that matter?
Student : No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.
Professor : Yet you still believe in HIM?
Student : Yes.
Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing. I only have my Faith.
Professor : Yes, Faith. And that is the problem Science has.
Student : Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?
Professor : Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as Cold?
Professor : Yes.
Student : No, sir. There isn't...
(The Lecture Theatre became very quiet with this turn of events)
Student : Sir, you can have Lots of Heat, even More Heat, Superheat, Mega Heat, White Heat, a Little Heat or No Heat. But we don't have anything called Cold. We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero which is No Heat, but we can't go any further after that
There is no such thing as Cold.
Cold is only a Word we use to describe the Absence of Heat.
We cannot Measure Cold.
Heat is Energy.
Cold is Not the Opposite of Heat, sir, just the Absence of it.
(There was pin-drop silence in the Lecture Theatre)
Student : What about Darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as Darkness?
Professor : Yes. What is Night if there isn't Darkness?
Student : You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the Absence of Something.
You can have Low Light, Normal Light, Bright Light, Flashing Light...
But if you have No Light constantly, you have nothing and its called Darkness, isn't it? In reality, Darkness isn't. If it is, you would be able to make Darkness Darker, wouldn't you?
Professor : So what is the point you are making, young man?
Student : Sir, my point is, your Philosophical Premise is flawed.
Professor : Flawed? Can you explain how?
Student : Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality. You argue there is Life and then there is Death, a Good GOD and a Bad GOD. You are viewing the Concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure.
Sir, Science can't even explain a Thought. It uses Electricity and Magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one.
To view Death as the Opposite of Life is to be ignorant of the fact that Death cannot exist as a Substantive Thing. Death is Not the Opposite of Life, just the Absence of it.
Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your Students that they evolved from
a Monkey?
Professor : If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the
argument was going)
Student : Since no one has ever observed the Process of Evolution at work and Cannot even prove that this Process is an On-Going Endeavor, Are you not teaching your Opinion, sir? Are you not a Scientist but a Preacher?
(The Class was in uproar)
Student : Is there anyone in the Class who has ever seen the Professor's brain?
(The Class broke out into laughter)
Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelt it?... No one appears to have done so.
So, according to the Established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have No Brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?
(The Room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable)
Professor : I guess you'll have to take them on Faith, son.
Student : That is it sir...Exactly!
The Link between Man & GOD is FAITH.
That is all that Keeps Things Alive and Moving.
That student was ALBERT EINSTEIN.

Presentation, Tutti Quanti
Yesterday, I was focusing on tutti quanti instead of rehearsing for my speech for today's presentation. I spent 6 hours, from 2pm till 8pm to reach level 20. I was really happy. After that, I happily watch TV and did not practice my speech again.
Another happy thing was that while I was doing tutti quanti, my sister passed me a package that was sent from Korea. Lynn has sent us some notebooks and she wrote a letter that addressed all the 5 of us. I missed her a lot. I informed her over the msn that I have received the package already in case she thought the package was lost along its way to Singapore.
This morning, I woke up early just to revise again my speech. We were the first group to present. But, there was one problem, i.e. we do not know how to set up the vcr thing. Huang Peng, Lynn's friend, together with another 2 classmates helped us set up the thing.
During presentation, I was very nervous. Because I was holding onto the cue cards, I have higher tendency of keeping looking at the cards instead to maintain eye contact with audience.
The second group was a group of Indonesians and Philippinoes who loves to role play. Especially the last speaker, the way the last sentence was said sounds like a news announcer. He said ' Thank you and have a good day!' That was rather funny. My friend nearly laughed out.
At the end of all the presentations, every group gets to take a look at the feedback that the tutor has written. So I have a lot of ticks for improvement and only a couple ticks for good. Jie Yun also gotten almost the same results as mine. But I don't really care much.
But, Jie Yun actually sms me at night, asking me whether we did badly for our presentation. I realized that she really worried about her grades for that module. She was afraid that the presentation score might the entire thing down. I can tell that she really care about it. But there is nothing I can do other than getting her to focus on other things like BS209 biochemistry report and liposome quiz.

A B'day Party
Just came back from the party and I have mixed feelings about. So...the birthday girl is from my JC, we are really very close but not in contact often. I was really surprised to receive her invitation and immediately decided to attend her party. But I have foreseen that it will be an awkward situation with her relatives and her university friends around as well. Because I was her only JC friend to attend her party.
Most of my JC classmates did not attend her birthday party, last minute said not coming. So I was the loner without any friend to accompany. Shean tying was really nice to accompany me. Heng Qian, the limelight for today, has to play her hostess role well. So we dun really have time to catch up. When I was alone, I distract with the food I have taken.
I met Bee Yan and her boyfriend as well. Bee Yan is also my JC classmate. She changed a bit, I guess. But we did not talk.
After I have felt that I have stayed long enough, I informed Heng Qian and Shean tying that I need to leave.
Many weird feelings after I have left that place. Not enjoyable but I at least get to see my good friend, totally unchanged and happy. So, I was really happy for her.

Lynn flying off to Korea
Yesterday Lynn fly off from Changi Terminal 3. She took the Singapore Airline plane. A lot of her friends sent her off. We were all happily sending her off, no sad scenes, no crying scenes. But I will missed her since she will be going for around 5 months. I guess she was really happy yesterday and I am glad too. She brought along the photo that Jie Yun has given her. She also really that there was a message from Jie Yun at the back of the photo. All of us knew already except for Mei Hui but I wonder she will open the frame to see the message as she claims that she will accidentally spoil the frame if she tries to remove the photo.
We did not really get to talk to Lynn much but we have taken some pictures with a lot of passengers and their families and friends walking here and there. We feedback her on our Biophysics quiz which was happened on the Thursday. The quiz was really screwed.
I reached home around 12 30 and there is work on the next morning. Really tiring.

MRT Trip to Jurong East and Percy Jackson
A rather rare occasion to see Serene and both of us are taking the train towards Jurong East. I was the first to notice and called her. We sat down and talked about the recent happenings. It was so long ever since we gathered for Ting Shu's birthday, which was like two years ago.
We were chatting about our JC classmates and stuff. She told me about Valarie, who was studying in a private university. The two of them still in contact, I guess. Vimala, my project work group leader is currently at Singapore Polytechnic, same as Serene. We were also talking Heng Qian and Li Ren no longer together but not too sure of the reason.
Very soon, we parted at Jurong East. I went to board the train toward Joo Koon to submit my Bioinformatics report before meeting Peh Ching at north Point to shop for formal outfits. Lina got the movie tickets at AMK Hub for Percy Jackson.
The movie was really very good and the effects are really good, very similar to Harry Potter 1 and 2 given that it was from the same director. But, the effects can only be seen clearly in movie theatre plus the good sound system. Really worth the money to watch it in the cinema for at least once.
Story is edited a bit so it does not really follow the book. The furies and enemies following Percy Jackson and his friends are really very scary. But the part with Medusa was really very funny.
The movie is really a must watch movie. Maybe I might want to watch it again.

Recent happenings!!!
Just started school last week. Seeing new professors and some with very weird accents like the Italian professor with a German accent. Timetable is really sucks!!! Almost every single day I ended up going home late because of lectures ended at 5.30pm. My friend and I have to deal with the peak hours at Jurong East MRT Station. Lynn is going to Korea University this year March and I knew she is really excited and elated about it. I am envious about it because the results over there is not calculated into GPA.
This semester I will be taking a module which I hated the most - Biophysics. Although it deals with mostly calculations, but I am really bad with physics related topics. Immunology is equally as bad because the lecturer talks fast and I can't make out what she was trying to say at the other time. Advanced biochemistry was very dry was the very first lecture. Bioinformatics and virology were okay for the time being. Matering comm module was okay as well but there are about 1000 students taking this module at the same time. So we are using the largest LT of NTU for our lectures.
Last Thursday I was working after my mastering comm lecture. Very tiring after schooling. I was dozing off on the bus traveling toward RTC. Met Kanna on the way as well because he board the bus at Kranji. Thursday night was not very busy. But there are 2 set menus that I need to memorize because these were new things to me. No buffet for that night due to the small crowd coming in. SCDF people coming in at around 5 plus. 22 pax coming at around 8 plus to celebrate birthday. 10 pax coming in at around 7.30 to celebrate birthday as well. Luckily it was busy especially with Ann around. Shan doing cashier that day - special shift - he was very blur that day. He made 2 mistakes with my orders. First mistake: He keyed no spicy instead of no satay for the nasi goreng order and he trying to smoke his way out by blamming for my handwriting. Second mistake: Sirloin steak medium well he keyed well done. And he got nagged by me and scolded by Kanna. Uncle See made some Avocado blended with ice-cream and milk for me and Doris before I left cafe at 10pm. Very nice and refreshing drink and it was not very sweet.
As for Friday afternoon, I went out by myself to 313 to shop at Forever 21. Met Lynn and her mom there as well. I have gotten myself a $40 jacket and a long sleeve shirt. Then I went to RTC to collect my salary. At night, went shopping at Bugis with Peh Ching and Lina.
For the entire Saturday, the 3 of us went to East Coast to support Wendy because of the Ngee Ann Poly's bazaar. But we got lost for about 45mins before we reach there. I have gotten something from Wendy's booth and Lina has gotten the biggest cinnamonroll as her late b'day gift from Peh Ching and Wendy. After having our dinner at the coffee shop at Marine Parade, we took a bus to Somerset. We met Michelle and her friend at 313. She was on her way back home after the make-up thing. Afer that we proceed to 313 and spent like 2-3hrs over at forever 21. I was helping Peh Ching to find CNY dress. The 3 of us did manage to get something from forever 21. After that, we went to New Look. We tried the shoes over there. I kind of this pair of boots and it was around $54. It really looked nice but I did not get it yesterday. Peh Ching was onto the 4 inches heels which really looked got on her and she really can walked comfortably with heels. Lina was onto the low cut boots but those shoes she has tried were really more expensive than the one that I was onto. She planned to go to other places to look for her ideal shoes.
So, this were just what happened to me for the past one week and I have yet to complete my tutorials and textbook reading!!!
