Road to Hill 30... I mean, Recovery.

It's been so long since I last posted again. I've been through downs, and stuff,, and I'm not sure what the future holds for me right now. I am trying not to go back to my old self-destructive ways with limited success.

Anyway, my main point is that the WCG 2005 Grand Finals (held in Singapore!) is over! I went there on the first and last days, took some photos (including two of the silver medal Wilson "Tetra" Chia, 24, won for Singapore in Dead Or Alive: Ultimate). Feeling a bit bored now that it's over, perhaps I will go to Sitex to check out AnimeXtion or something. :)

I'll see when I can post the photos I took during WCG 2005 up. *procrastinates*... Next year, perhaps? Hehe.

Congratulations to Wilson for doing Singapore proud, winning our first medal ever! And thanks for letting me photograph the medal! You're so nice! :D (That lucky guy... being dragged away by a CNBC Asia correspondent for an interview even as I was taking photos, hehe. :) ) Ah well...

Bah.

I got kicked out from OCIP. Period. Not even allowed to stay on and help. And it feels weird not watching anime anymore. Peacemaker Kurogane ended, Scrapped Princess is ending, and Godannar, with all its busty women and mecha and stuff, damn, I can't watch. :( Oh well.

So much...

So much has happeend since my last post. Promotional exams were over, I went to watch Corpse Bride (not bad!), splurged on a 1/100 HG Destiny and Strike Freedom, and stuff. Enjoyed a few days of hardcore playing and stuff, although at the back of my mind I knew I was dead.

OCIP meetings, yadayadayada, then came today. The dreaded return of the test papers. I'm probably down for 3 R-papers (Reassessment Papers), judging from my current results of O for Physics, F for Math and Chemistry. Which is not good. I cannot promote to JC 2 with this grade, but I don't want to retain either. No use now blaming who, or what, but it's my fault totally. I... think I regret some of my actions... damn, what am I doing? Mr Chad Goh told me to pray for my Geography and General Paper (GP) which I would, but I do not have much confidence in them as well.

*sighs* If I retain and repeat JC 1... one year deferment from NS. My friends will be in JC 2. I... I probably will lose everything Jiayu has stood for at this point. No use complaining, really. And a whole load of other stuff. New syllabuses, and all. I think I will abaandon my OGL application. To think I was full of dreams at the start of the year but never really worked for them. I have no choice... this chance just slipping away from me just like that. I worshipped my OGLs and stuff. My dad had threatened int he past to withdraw financial support if I retained too... And i don't have the courage, or 面子 (face) to face my teachers.

Bah. Hmm, no use complaining, right? But... but then, if there is no such use, why does it... exist? I don't know, it's so complicated... I don't know what to do now. Everything is bleak. Aaahhh...

Oh, Open House was fun though. Running from Air Rifle to OCIP booth to Physics Society booth was... exceedingly tiring. :P Threatening people to go shoot by aiming our weapons at them was... fun. Thought of it but didn't do it haha. Oh well. Did I mention that I replayed Runescape again, died early and lsot things which were valuable to me at that point? Although I shouldn't be talking about games now...

Alright!

Okay, so from the papers, we have learnt that the VJC campus moblog (sorry, no links, can anyone provide one? :) ) has won prizes for best JC blog and most popular JC blog in the recently concluded first-ever National Interschool Blogging Championships (I copied this from Digital Life). Glory to us!

And our DOTA (Defence Of The Ancients) team got National Champion at the World Cyber Games Singapore Finals! Too bad it is an unofficial game, but being national champions is enough. :)

I know these people. :) Congratulations to them for having done VJC proud. I want to be like them too, but I guess I suck at well... everything hehe.

As for my life, it's just plain boredom. And I haven't really started on studying yet. Don't really know where to start, how irritating. Not much else to post about so, back to the hiatus thingy again. Will be posting whenever I feel like it!

Maybe I should turn this into a military commentary blog? Hmm... the newspaper ran an article about the F-15T today... (T for Temasek)

PostPostPost!

Just decided to pop by for kicks. Promos coming but not studying yet. Completed Jedi Academy once again. Geography Field Trip to Kuantan and Kota Tinggi was fun, one fine day (I'm gonna procrastinate) I'm going to to have to upload some pictures. Hehe.

Ciao once again.

One Month... and a hiatus.

Finally, I have decided to come back here and post. Too lazy to post nowadays.

Anyway, Temasek Seminar rocked, National Day was very nice, Science Carnival was okay, Singapore Open Shooting Championships was a flop, and I'm geting busier and lazier and also playing Fire Emblem. :P

On another note... someone from my flick has given me "hentai" for a middle name. Hahahaha.

Oh, and being the lazy bugger that I am I probably won't post forever, so here am I telling all of you that I'm will be goign on an indefinite hiatus. Bye people!

Multi-post again! AGAIN! :)

Here goes yet another multi-post. I'm either too lazy to blog nowadays or simply too tired to do so. Heh.

July 16th

Trained for the first time with jacket today. 50 shots. Using Jung Seong's suit plus Nicholas' (seniors from long time ago) pants. Jung Seong's jacket was Nicholas', and he found his shoes so I'm wearing a, how do you put it, 'complete suit' lol. Coach says my rifle is too far from my body and I twist my hips too much. Need to arrest those.

I then went down to Lido to do PW with Daryl Thanks to the National Day Preview, the bus was stuck in a traffic jam to make way for the Mobile Column. Still it's ncie to see tanks and stuff rolling past your average bus. But it took me and hour and a half just to get from VJ to Orchard. Daryl and I were caught in the same jam on our way back and I reached home at 2130 (boarded bust at 1950). Cooked one of the best instant noodle meals I ever had in my life (two packets, prawn and chicken, and the egg was simply beautiful... I must master this skill of putting egg into pot! :) ). Then I fell asleep after bathing.

July 17th

Japanese lesson. Work is piling up because I haven't been keeping up. Slacked the rset of the day when I was not supposed to, and ended up not doing my tutorials. I should start getting worried, damn it.

July 18th

Normal Monday. Got scolded by Mr Chow because (he was already in a bad mood since my class fouled up the previous week's experiment) I was the last (I'm usually one of the last few anyway) to complete teh practical, and after about 1.5 hours. I'm worried for my Physics SPA (Science Practical Assessment), and at the same time, felt a little unfair and stressed due to Mr Chow's scolding, why?

Went down to see if anyone needed coaching for Interhouse Air Weapons Shoot but apparently all the bases were covered. Just helped out with some loading, and we played with the pistols for a while later. Hehehehe. I'm getting tired again nowadays.

Also, we've got 2nd for the Temasek Seminar Tagline Competition! Hell yeah, nice work, team! Although this means that we'll have to revamp our presentation, but being 2nd rocks. Hehe. NJC (National Junior College) was the first while PJC (Pioneer Junior College) got third.

July 19th

Busied myself with a bit of Temasek Seminar stuff after school, but mostly air rifle things. Coaching, and shooting pistols. Using Shawn's pistol with the uber-grip done by Eng Keat, I shot 70 with it! Damned cool and nice, hehe. What else is there? Stoned a bit here and there at school with Zhen Iang but otherwise there was nothing. Maths teacher caught me not doing my work so I have to show her TWO tutorials tomorrow. Boy, is my head going to crack.

Oh well, found out that I got an A2 for GP. Not too bad I guess, and my classmaets tell me I'm the only person to get an A for it in my class. After the initial fanfare (theys aw my 39.50 compo, I myself think that's quite a good mark) died down, everything went back to normal. I know I musn't get cocky, and I really hope to maintain this kind of standard. Heh.

I realised that there is not time to train for the next two weeks since I'm involved with so many things. Suddely life has gotten busier. Hmm, what would happen during the Singapore Open? I feel handicapped without training, looks like I'll have to make full use of the days and times when I am free.

July 20th

Mrs Chan announced our win during morning assembly but most of the people didn't know what the competition was about. Plus, I think she distorted my name a little. But whatever, UI don't mind, hehehe.

Managed to scrape through the tutorial by cracking my head in the morning and copying the rest of those that I didn't know from my friends (Thanks!). Which reminds me, I still have one part undone. Shit. Schol was as usual, although i find myself unable to understand lectures these days. Is it because I refuse to understand them? Argh, bloody hell.

Couldn't help officiate during the Interhouse Shoot (I really want to!) thanks to Temasek Seminar. The price of glory, like I always say. Got dragged away by Physics Society for a while but after that it was full-force into the Seminar discussion. We're on our way to changing the presentation, mmm...

July 21st

Normal day again. Got back Geography papers at last, bloody hell I am half a mark away from a C grade. Miss Tham says they will ROUND DOWN which makes me all the more pissed. I didn't have the answer script with me so I couldn't bargain for marks, bah. Gotta accept this I guess. FODD is the final score, doesn't look good, does it?

Temasek Seminar again, this has been coming out of my mouth for quite a few days. I have good people on my team, really, good and talented. Work is in progress, and I hope we can dazzle the other JCs as well as the Minister of Defence on the big day. Other than that I think there's nothing else.

This should be it, ciao!

*brushes teeth like crazy*

Ok, so for the first time in four weeks, I get to train. Was fatigued very quickly and did badly for the last 15 shots, all over the damned place. And I'm supposed to coach people tomorrow or perhaps in the future. Damn. VJC ARC is now in a resource-conservation mode, since the important event (the Nationals) has concluded. We have temporarily suspended the services of our coach which means we'll be going coachless for a while. We'll see how we can do. :)

Other than that it's your average Wednesday. Chewed on a very potent slice of garlic during dinner, maybe Mom didn't cook it properly? *shrugs* It was a little spicy and well, weird and acidly (I don't know how to describe it!), and after eating an apple I had that garlicky aftertaste in my mouth, something which has not bothered me for a long time. I hate that aftertaste, it simply stinks! :) Hmm...

Maybe I should brush my teeth for the third time tonight again.

Ah well, goodbye, and goodnight for now. :)

Wednesday, July 13, 2005

I am getting too lazy to blog daily.

Hmm. I guess from now on, until I can get back into the groove of blogging once a day, I shall blog multiple days all at one go. Hehehe. Here's what happened:

9th July

Let's see, what did I do? Day Two of IP Open House. Reached school at 0830 but everything actually started at 1000+ I moped around and wasted my time, then... I saw that the school was not as filled as I thought. There were indeed MUCH fewer people on Saturday than Friday, thanks to the other educational institutions holding similar test and open houses on Saturday. Although the New Zealand students who were here on an exchange programme came down, otherwise it was just... well like normal. Heh. Hmm. Mrs Chan made a good choice in extending things by one day.

Mass-dancing with the IP students and others was fun. Inearly forgot the dance steps so it's good to "revise". That got me into a "high"... damn I felt good. The gang of us (Caryn, Rhesa, Min Ning, myself, Benjamin and Mavis) headed to KFC, where we had lunch and... ooo... played Uno! :) Here comes a game which I finally know, and can have fun with and laugh about. :) I actually enjoy these good times, really. Compared to the humdrum and shit back elsewhere...

10th July

Japanese lesson. Loads of work piling up. Dying. Gundam SEED DESTINY is getting nice, the plot heats up with a great battle. Hmm, I think I slacked all day though. As usual.

11th July

Mr Chow gave back the Physics papers today. I DIDN'T FAIL! WOOOHOOO!!! Although 54% isn't that good of a pass... It's a "D" grade. I'm 10% below class average prompting Mr Chow to comment that I was "below average". I guess he's concerned over students' grades, and yeah he shit-canned me a little for doing poorly in my exams :(. F,O,O,D is now one more step closer to reality, when I meant it only as a joke. Damn. Somehow felt bored so I didn't train, entering my fourth week of not training already. Gee, I actually feel stressed.

12th July

Normal day. Only thing is Project Work. We are now pretty screwed thanks to the points Mr Chow raised. Deep shit, my group is in. This is not good. Hmm... didn't train today too.

13th July

Today. Short day. I got canned by Mr Chow again. He's also telling me to drop subjects. I don't want too. So I have to work hard. But lazy me can't bring myself to it. Damnit... Hmm. Couldn't finish watchign Equilibrium today though, we have to do it on Friday. But it's a nice movie so its worth the wait. Hehehe. There's always Wikipedia. There was also Physics Society farewell party today. Basically junk food, packet drinks, pizza, and Coca-Cola outside the S&T (Science and Technology) Centre, the place which I call (affectionately) our "base of operations". Not too much interaction though, between the juniors and seniors. Heh. And our cute 2004 vice-chair is leaving, won't catch her around again except in school. LOL.

Ah well. Came too late to train, but got briefed on the VJC Inter-House Air Weapons Shooting Competition (I believe it's politically correct to call it as such). Everybody, join this! *official pluggage* Although, hmm, training will be disrupted, and it's not too long till the Singapore Open...

We'll see how things go then. Otherwise it's pretty well... normal today I guess.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lots of "I guesses" and "Hmms", I have used. I think there is something more that I want to blog about but I can't remember what. There were certain events over the past few days worth mentioning but I forgot about them so I can't blog :P And, well, I'm a little too lazy and unwilling to comment on newspaper articles so I won't do those.

To the Americans, Canadians, Spaniards, Japanese, Chileans, Colombian, Dutch and even the occasional Uruguayan who come across my blog, thank you very much for visiting! :) You guys have fun too okay? :D Same goes for all my foreign friends. :D

My world has come crashing down around me.

It has been 6 days since I last blogged. School has started, although at a slow pace since there are still competitions going on, and also the dreaded return of the papers. Let's break it down day-by-day.

4th July

It was the Youth Day holiday (strangely, as my cousin complained, the polytechnic students dont' get this) and there was no school. Met up with Angel and Daryl at Orchard Road MRT to begin collecting data for our Project Work stuff. Had to go to Lido to check things out too. I'll have to do the surveys later. Got lost for about 20 minutes before finding Cathay Cineleisure, where I arranged to meet my cousins to watch War Of The Worlds. None of us had the sense to buy tickets early so we ended up watching it at 1645.

Spent 1430 to 1645 eating lunch, and tackling Crisis Zone at the arcade. Between me and Chong Yang, 8 tokens for 2.5 stages (total 3) which shows how sucky we are... Other people can play Time Crisis 2 with just one token. Arcades must have earned money through newbies like us. Alvin dao-ed (ignored) me when I waved hi, maybe he didn't see. Oh well. Anyway War Of The Worlds is a pretty nice movie. It keeps faithfully (as far as I know) to HG Wells' novel written in 1898 (correct me if wrong!) although now set in a modern, post 9/11 context (Spongebob cartoons, anyone?) . Several parallels are drawn with terrorism, and the final story is more about the parent-child bond and of survival. Steven Spielberg, you rock! :)

Didn't do much after that, reached home at around 2000. Slacked as usual.

5th July
School starts, the official first blow was dealt with the return of the Math papers. I got a nice F, 21/100. Was expecting that but hoping to get 30, an O grade though. Heh. It al boils down to practice. I slacked so much that I did nothing. Nothing much went on that day though. I struggled with trying to Math tutorials at home but couldn't work it out. I'm screwed.

Oh, and for GP we watched this damned cool movie, Equilibrium. It appears to be an indie-film (independent) and wasn't released in Singapore. It stars Christian Bale (Batman Begins) way before he became well-known. The film describes mankind, whom, after suffering World War III, decides to go to the extreme and take the right to feel out of Man's hands. There is no emotion, but peace. People who deviate from this are arrested for "sense offence" and are handled by law enforcement teams.

When they fail, Libria (the new world order, seems focused on America though) has it's elite weapons: The Grammaton Clerics. Unfeeling, and cold, and with a mastery of the arts known as gun katas which allow them maximum efficiency in aking down multiple groups of enemy, these people are used to keep the population in check. People administer themselves daily with doses of a drug called Prozium (Trivia: Prozac and Valium, both antidepressants) to supres their emotions.

When our leading actor, Cleric John Preston, fails to take his dose one day... he is awakened to a new world. And he rises up against the restraints of the old. Although we've only watched half the movie, it' is super-cool (I love science fiction :D) and stuff. There's the link to dystopia which we'll be covering in GP, so I guess we watched it. We haven't finished doing so though.

6th July

Nothing much today, just loads and loads of breaks and the occasional lecture in between. Temasek Seminar went well, our presentation being rated as "having a high chance" to make it to the top 5. Yay! If it does, I'd be so damned happy. Well done, team! And the participating students were split up afterwards in a roleplay of sorts, in a mock press conference between the MINDEF (Ministry of Defence) and MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the press and public. The focus of this year's Seminar was about the tsunami relief efforts.

It was fun trying to crap out answers. I was "chosen" to lead the MINDEF/MFA team so I guess this puts me as the Chief of Defense Force. Hehehe. But it was fun. Really! From this Seminar, I indeed did learn one more aspect of the SAF: It's human side, and how the armed forces give Singapore her political space amongst all the other countries. We won't be sidelined, and will remain plugged into the world system, and have decision-making and ngotiating rights because the SAF gives us our sovereignty. Mmm... that's the exciting thing of today. I really hope to work in the armed forces in the future.

To quote Alan, my deputy leader for the tagline competition presentation team, from his blog:

"Had these SAF people come down for this pre-seminar workshop. Mostly VJ alumni...but they were super friendly and cheerful. Kinda makes you think the type of SAF propaganda is changing. Ok, fine... it's not nice being so critical about them. But it was good as a whole. Had this press conference thing simulating the one held on Dec 27 after the tsunami. Hot, exciting and we got skewed up, down, centre. Bah...but we took it with grace...and it was a helluva fun."

7th July

Nothign much. Second blow dealt with O for Chemistry. I didn't study much and practice, it's my fault... But I don't want to drop a subject, need to take S-papers or my scholarship and career is gone I guess. *sighs* I'm super-screwed.

8th July

Slack day today. VJC IP Open House Day One was fun. Manned the ARC booth and got people down to shoot, where we tried to spot potential shooting talents. I do hope they can make it back so we can see them. Saw Claudia too, managed to get her friend and herself down to shoot (she shot pretty well! Because she was using my dear 308579. hehehehe :P). Too bad she quit Japanese class, we all miss her... Forgot to take her contact details though. Maybe I should hunt for her in TKGS. :P I guess I don't mind that she lied that she was in Secondary 3 when she was actually inS econdary 2...

Mr Chow dealt the third blow by telling me that I failed Physics. But I studied for it and practiced! Albeit not a lot... but what the hell.. He said it as though he was joking, I don't know what to believe. I'm super-super-screwed. *sighs* Less games? Missed Inuyasha and most of Shaman King today since I napped from 2100 to 2345. Bah. I'm just making myself go down the drain. Didn't go to class barbecue because I was sure my Mom wouldn't allow it, and damned right I was. *sighs* :(

See you for now, I guess. Heh.

Monday, July 04, 2005

Stupid shit.

I've been enjoying myself, yes, during this long weekend. Thanks to the fact that my Dad isn't around. Games galore... hehehe. Had Japanese lessons today (damn, it's tough! I'm getting lost) and lunch with cousins and Grandma (maternal) I've always felt closer to my maternal-side relatives. Mmm... things like these are always so wonderful...

Hmph. It's no wonder why Asian Dads get a low rating overall when it comes to being graded by their children. He, the freaking-oh-i'm-so-great-i'm-the-lord-of-the-house-and-you-have-to-listen-to-me-because-i-control-you-until-the-age-of-21, lord just came back from Phuket on a golf trip. Hmpf. All because I sleep late and play too much on my computer. I know it sucks, hey, I know i'm addicted, but still I know my limits. I don't go overboard yet. Who cares whether the daughters of your damned friends sleep at 11? I don't fucking care.

I may sound immature and shit now, I don't know. No one understands my own private world I guess, is it my fault? Mom has also become less lenient nowadays thanks to Dad. I have to learn how to wake up myself. Sure, that's a great skill but... Argh.

Fine, my fault. I don't recognise the good things they do to me, only the bad. Ahh, shoot me then. *rants*

After so long...

Posting back here again. I decided to start studying after all but I guess my mid-years won''t be good. Maths and Chemistry are confirmed failures, meaning I'll have to go back to Math tuition after trying so hard to get away from it. I hope I don't fail Geography or Physics, although I lost quite a bit of marks here and there due to blanks and incomplete answers...

Ah anyway there's a 4 day weekend for us, due to Friday (I don't take Chinese) and Youth Day. Stresses for Temasek Seminar, less day to do things. Went to the Zheng He exhibition today with Mom (Friday). Didn't see much though, it wasn't very interesting.

Although I did learn some Swahili: Hakuna matata = no problem, simba = lion, rafiki = friend, jambo = hi! Lol. I still am a little lazy to blog, after a long hiatus and I can't think of other stuff. Am gonna stay awake for a while more... anwyay, ciao guys! :)

Still slacking

1 week more. I'm a goner. Got myself a new counter by the way. Hmm. Haven't been blogging much. Didn't do much on Father's Day (I kinda forgot, really) and somehow I don't feel guilty. Evil me, I guess, but it shows the strained relationships out there some bit, doesn't it? *rants*

Maybe I shouldn't do this here. It's kinda sucky. Ah... whatever. Heh.

Doing nothing.

Goner. Damn. What the hell?

Wednesday, June 15, 2005

Nothing. NOTHING!!!

I didn't do anything yesterday, neither did I do anything today, other than watch Zipang (new anime), about a Japanese Aegis cruiser that gets sent back in time to World War II. It gets embroiled in the Battle of Midway, episode 2 is a must-see. Wonder what they'll do. Other than that I've been boring myself and not studying. Damn, I'm gonna die.

Monday, June 13, 2005

Woah, multi-post.

Went to Changi Naval Base on the 9th as part of the Temasek Seminar pre-seminar visits. I wished I had gone on the tour to the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Squadron though, heh. The trip was pretty standard, a presentation, then a tour on a Landing Ship Tank which I have visited before and a short ride on one of the FCUs (Fast Craft Units? The landing crafts, anyway). The stairs were pretty steep which made me wonder whether I would fall off if I was serving on board in a war situation. We got to see more of the internals, like the bridge and quarters, unlike the last time during National Day a few years back (or was it Navy Open House?) where I saw more of the weapons. Nothing much, other than a few talks with some of the military officers (the scholars) and bringing home a small goodie bag. Yep, that's about it. Slacked the rest of the day off.

Friday was Nationals Selection Shoot, from 1400 to 1800. Reached home at 1930. Shot an amazing 508/600, giving 8.4 per shot. Hmm, even Mr Chow said it was a great improvement. :) Hopefully I can maintain this. It;s my first time breaking 500! And if I had blogged all on that day, I would have blogged more but it's officially Monday mornign now (although I still see it as Sunday) and I'm too lazy to blog more.

Going on, Saturday. Shot like crap today, even coach said I normally didn't have so many miscued shots. Weird. Maybe I wasn't concentrating enough. Lunched at Mos Burger Parkway with Yin Cheng, Eng Keat, Daniel, and the two of the three VS guys who got selected to represent the VS team in the Nationals, and who were training with us during the holidays. I believe they are called Dennis and Yixiong, lol. Not too sure yet. :) Anyway I didn't make it to the team, which means I'll have more time hopefully to mug. Heh. Better make use of it. Hmm, For Air Rifle Male (ARM) I think only myself and Benjamin were not selected. I'll have to work hard yes?

Then Sunday (today, as I see it). Japanese lesson, then slacking. I gave up on playing Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter even though I had a joystick emulator because the game kept hanging, which vexes me. Hmm, bye for now!

Thursday, June 09, 2005

Hmm. Hmm.

Trained today. Didn't train for so long.... and I actually shot damned good today? A few strays, but nice overall, nonetheless. If I can continue like this, concetrating each shot, gee, I'd be happy. :) Scored 43/50 without jacket for coach's 5-shot competition format regimen. Without jacket coach told me to hit 40. Guess I hit it. :) Although I took longer to aim and trigger off than I liked...

Here goes:
1. "For your first competiton shot, load."
2. "Attention! 3, 2, 1, start!"
3. (All fire off)
4. "Stop. Roll back"
5. Everyone announces score.

*sighs* If I did this good every time... :)

Was lost as to where to go for lunch and decided to head to Parkway. Ended up eating lunch with Roxanne and Yuen Siang (they're... a couple. I crashed. :P) at KFC (Fast food...noooo!) Walked around with them for a while, and saw this cute scene:

Two kids, a boy and a girl, most likely only 8 or 9 years old, were fighting. The boy was holding a stick a la Darth Maul and his lightstaff. And the girl was whacking him with another stick. Reminded me of Qui-Gon Jinn's duel with Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menance. It was cute and funny, really, except "Darth Maul" was the one doing the retreating while "Qui-Gon" was slashing at "his" lightstaff hilt. Laughed. Roxanne and Yuen Siang (both apparently, not Star Wars fans...) saw it but I guess it was more significant for me. :) I laughed, and waved at the kids before moving on. Heh.

Then I came home and slacked again. MUAHAHAHA. God, I really need to start studying... *sighs* Oh well...

Mom and Dad quarrelled again...

Slacker...

Another day where I didn't have to go to school. No more of these days in the near future... and I slacked and didn't study. Really need to start studying. Heh. Ciao!

Monday, June 06, 2005

No school, no training, no nothing!

Finally a day when I don't have to go to school at all. Hehehe. I slacked instead of studying, all the way until night. Watched Independence Day for I think the 9th or 10th time and I still can't rememeber Bill Pullman's cheesy speech he made on top of an F/A-18. Hehe. I always get excietd near the end when they actually start whacking the aliens... nice. And the people all over the world cheering... lol. Spotted some Harriers (AV-8B for US) amongst the attack force too I think.

I also finally understood what the Japanese officer was trying to say: "...5時間始る" -> ..."begins in 5 hours." How nice. :). Stoned and searched for Kiddy Grade pictures like crazy (It's really nice and the girls are sexy :P) while adding them to MSN display pics. Felt guiltyfor no reason, and rounded it up with a picture of Kurogane from Tsubasa Chronicle. Hehe.

I better start studying tomorrow. Signing off!

One of the many double posts once again...

Double posting. :) Didn't do much on Saturday. Went down to Yishun SAFRA (my Dad sent me there, thanks :) ) to help track Shaun's grouping for the NUS Shoot. Fancy asking a rifle shooter to track a pistol shooter, but oh well. :) It's a good experience, really.

I kept changing my positions since it was difficult to find a good place to look at his cards AND track the grouping quickly. I ended up borrowing a pair of binoculars from the Jurong JC coach... and he very kindly lent it to me. (Thanks man! :D) That made my job a whole lot easier...

Sad to say, VJC didn't perform really well in the shoot. Even if we removed the secondary schools and NUS/NTU our placings were less than satisfactory I believe. I won't put my official word on that, but what's over is over yes?

I didn't stay for prize presentation (I'm not involved anyway) and instead went back to VJC with Miss Lee while helping to lug the pistols (5 cases, she took 2 and me 3) back. We took a cab back and she made small talk along the way. I tell you, it's scary to talk to teachers you ain't very close with. That's just me. Furthermore I didn't really understand the topics she lectured on (she's a Chemistry teacher) and I obviously can't like, say it out right? Hehehe. Tried not to reveal too much, hehehehe. :)

As for Sunday (its 0426 Monday now) there was Japanese lessons, then lunch at lemongrass Thai Restaurant with my cousins. :) THen I came home and slacked. Mars Attacks! was lame. Heh. Tsubasa Chronicle, interesting as ever. Hmm. SEED DESTINY was okay, the plot thickens, and it was a little sad, but Shinn's an ass still. Hrmph. And then my Mom just woke up and discovered me at the PC.

:P Need to sleep now, see you all later! :)

What did I do today?

Collected my O' Level certificate in Dunman High and played soccer with a few of my Secondary 4 classmates. Goalkeeper/defender once again letting in a few goals :P. Didn't really lose my touch since I slept well the previous night :) *sighs* Enjoyable, I miss playing soccer despite my skill level being lousy. Too bad we can't play soccer in VJC (can't use the field unless its P.E. lessons, and only with permission).

I also miss the sound of fighter jets (F-5s, F-16s, the occasional F-15 or F/A-18, even the Rafale and Eurofighter, the CH-53, the P-3, the C-130, the E-2, the Fokker 50, the UH-1, the AS-550 Super Puma, the CH-47 Chinook, and the occasional Fennec) and other aircraft flying over our school. You only get to see (not hear) civilian aircraft lifting off from Changi Airport in VJC... heh.

Hmm, we played then had lunch at KFC (Kallang) in the afternoon. Then headed for home and basically slacked my way then. Hehehe. :)

Double post once again.

Hmmm... double post since I didn't post yesterday. I trained, then... where did I go? I forgot. Did I go to Parkway and browse Star Wars books at MPH? Now ait... that was another day. Oh, yes, I went back to Dunman High to see if there were any Scout activities. Despite me not being a Venture, I'm still somewhat attached to my unit.

Found some guides and Tee Yan, a friend of mine (he returned as an NPCC Cadet Inspector but he will be posted to some other school soon) and had a talk with him. I actually wanted to have lunch over at Kampong Arang and eat some iced-jelly (icejelly as we call it) but ended up eating one of the leftover packets of chicken rice from the NPCC. Felt bad and wanted to pay but Tee Yan told me not to. Oh well, heh. On my way home, I SAW MOBILE FIGHTER G GUNDAM ON TVMOBILE! Man, that's so cool. I want to watch that series too. Music was a little soft so I couldn't catch the beat and it was english-dubbed but it looks good... heh.

No training today because I am not involved in the NUS Shoot :(. But at least I got to wake up late and not go to school or soemthing. Mom dragged me out for lunch at Swensen's to celebrate her birthday, then I rushed off to do some Project Work discussion and went back to Crystal Jade for dinner with Mom. Happy Birthday Mom! Sorry for the lack of cards and whatever, but you should deserve a break sometimes. :)

Bought a Star Wars book on the weapons and stuff used but it doesn't cover RoTS. Damn. Maybe I'll buy it again when they update it fully. But it's good enough, at least it covers the New Jedi Order's story arc about the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, although at the time of writing the last few books (Force Heretic series, Final Prophecy and Unifying Force) had not been finished so the Vong invasion hadn't been repelled. That book cost me $50 with no discount, probably because of the pictures and stuff. :)

Hmm.. now I've got some light reading to digest in addition to mugging. Yay lol. :)

Still Slacking

Trained a bit, shot like shit (as usual?) and completed Jedi Academy today. Gonna do it again using Dark Side powers and dual lightsabers this time... hmm...

Nothing else to blog about. :)

Sunday and Monday

Japanese class on Sunday, then lunch with Eugene-san and his girlfirend (chicken rice, barley water, his treat -> thanks a lot! Really. :) ). Came home and played Jedi Academy all day.

Trained on Monday (well it's Tuesday morning now though) then went home Parkway all aloen and lonely to eat, then came home, played Jedi Academy, had dinner with Dad and his China business associate at Tatsu Sushi and came home again to play Jedi Academy. Gonna watch SEED DESTINY and Tsubasa Chronicle now. :) Yay! :)

Interesting

Double post for Friday and Saturday

Yesterday there was a final briefing for the Temasek Seminar. It was regarding the field trip to Changi Naval Base and stuff. There was also this tagline competition thing with the theme Singapore: More Than A Red Dot. I was made the ad-hoc leader for this and was left to coordinate meetings to think of the tagline.

Mrs Chan gave us a half-day yesterday and we were dismissed at 0950, which meant just a Chemistry Lecture for me. I then tried to coordinate the meeting and we started off discussing. After that I went down to the range for the 1st of 3 Nationals selection shoots. I shot a 487/600, average 8.1 (down from 8.2 last week) because I was feeling nauseous throughout. Mr Chow attributed it to the heat (yes, I've now experienced first-hand the heat in the canvas jacket while in the VJ range) which I wasn't used to at all, being my first time in the jacket in the VJC range.

I was super-tired towards the end and very nauseous. I fought against it, but failed at the last shot where I triggered off too early and shot a 0. The shot grazed the top of the card. What a waste. Anyway, I probably can't go for the Nationals but I'll do my best.

Coordinated another tagline meeting at night on MSN, never before having sent so many SMSes in my life. This one was much more successful and we ended with a tagline out.

As for today, I trained, had to re-sight my gun because I think Li Zhe changed it but I sighted a lot. Too much and it wasn't really centred yet. This frightens me... Perhaps its my sight relation that's the problem. Ate at Parkway KFC after that despite having a mild sore throat.

Then came home and completed the download of Jedi Academy. Man, it rocks! :) And then had another meeting to discuss the rationale of the tagline. I tasked the final job to my deputy leader, Alan, who's a good guy too. Great ideas and stuff. :) Mr Ho Wei Kang, one of the teachers-in-charge, was observing us and in the end he commented that we were pretty good and far surpassed his expectations. That's a good thing yes?

And so this thing is coming to a close... yay! :)

Bored stiff.

As expected, there was no full day or half day off today because of the loss. The principal, Mrs Chan snapped at us on stage for suggesting something "ridiculous". I didn't thinkt hat she could do that. Fierce. Heard that she cried yesterday. Hmm... *shrugs*

I slacked through the whole of today not doing anything. Didn't go down to support the hockey finals because I wanted to train. But I ended up in the library talking to Joel Boon (my primary school classmate, secondary schoomate) until 1700 and when I went down to the raneg they were ready to close. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

This, plus the headache that has been bugging me since morning. I actually reached home quite early today at 1800, one of the earliest since the last few months. Heh. :) That's all for now, I feel so bored and shit... slacking, not wanting to do homework. Yay.

Wednesday, May 25, 2005

Damn.

We were dismissed at 1030 tody (0950 for most of clasmates who don't take Chinese) because the principal wanted to like, thank us for all the support we have shown for the sports' teams matches and stuff, and we were in the top 4 for many of the sports. :) Ostensibly the main reason was probably so that the whole school would be free to go down to the National Stadium to support VJC in its soccer finals against the upstart MJC (no offense to any Meridians :) )

It was a very close match. Close and exciting, both teams played well. MJC with two national players versus VJC with one national player and the defending champion. We fought hard, and equalised even past the first set of 5 penalty shots in the shootout. But we eventually lost 6-7 on penalties and were national 2nd. Sadness was written on everyone's faces.

It was so excitingm we cheered hard, banged our drums and pails hard, shook our shakers hard... but alas, Fortune did not smile on us. I read on a book about commanders just hours ago in the library and it said that "Fortune is an essential part of any combat action" or something to that effect. Indeed, luck is an important thing.

I said 'hi' To Alvin, the Students' Council President but he didn't reply. Maybe he was sad perhaps my greeting didn't sound good to him. I don't know. I still stand by my action, being my normal, happy self and running away from my problems as usual. We must move on. If I offend you, Alvin, I'm sorry. But this is me, and I guess, in a way, I was trying to cheer you up. :)

We have to move on. And as for the Cheer Up Asia thing I mentioned a few blog posts ago, I finally found my second chance to sign up through the CT Council. Yay! :) Thanks guys!

That's it for today.

-Signing off with a little bit of wounded pride- :)

PS: Let's see if we have a half-day off tomorrow (full-day off is impossible because of the loss). And then there's the first out of three selection shoots for the Nationals. I know my chance of entering is slim but I'll do my best.

Theta

Hehe. Random title. School was boring. Did good for my first 20 shots then bad for the next 20. Am semi-holidaymood-ish already. There's only a half day tomorrow so that we can all go and watch VJC take on MJC in the soccer finals. Go guys! Other than that the rest of today was... normal.

Finally learnt how to post pictures here. Now I msut find out how to interface my digital camera with my PC... so all of you can expect more pictures! :)

Test post of picture.
Posted by Hello

I sense a disturbance in the Force...

I went to Tampines Mall today to watch Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (henceforth referred to as "RotS") with Jonathan. :) We met at around 1015 and bought tickets to the 1140 show. But we had to sit in the second row from the front, it kind of strains the neck, and you can't see the whole screen...

Too bad I guess. The person at the counter told us (albeit a little rudely, IMO) that if we wanted better seats we could have watched it in the evening. Right...

Anyway, I'm sure the newspaper reviews have summarised everything, so I won't need to say anything about it. In short, it rocks! The mood of course, was dark, and it was quite sad to see the Jedi die. One of the most impressive scenes I guess would be the one where Anakin marches up the steps of the Jedi Temple with an army of Clone Troopers in tow. Here, we see the final transformation of Anakin to Darth Vader as well as the birth and eventual separation of the Skywalker twins. :) This movie really rocked. :) I doubt there'll be a similar series of movies that would have a similar impact on the world, at least in the near future.

From 1015 to 1140, we basically spent our time at the arcade playing the shooters Crisis Zone and Time Crisis II. And wasting coins and watching other people score so much more than us in the same game. LOL. Thsoe guys are veterans man, I tell you. :) And we walked around and even visited Toys'R'Us. (Is it spelt like that?) I must say that the Gundam model kit collection over there is not as good as that of Parkway's Isetan, but similar to those in Popular (Marine Parade). I hear Metro Sengkang has loads mroe, I must go there some day. :) Oh, and I actually saw a HG model of Meer Campbell's ZAKU Warrior Live Conert Version lol. Imagine a pink mobile suit.

After the movie we had lunch and stoned around at the arcade again. I debated whether or not to spend more money to play, and in the end decided to tear myself away from that money-sucking place. I also didn't buy the Star Wars trilogy music compilation (although I wanted it badly, plus those from the three prequels)... that one cost a bomb at $70.90. Hope they release a compilation of music from all six episodes as well as VCDs/DVDs of them, I'll buy them then. :) Together with the anime I want to accquire. :) The bomb will become more expensive by then, heh. :)

Reached home at 1640 and napped till 1710. Stoned around and watched Tsubasa 7 and SEED DESTINY 31. Hmm... plot develops in Tsubasa, while the Destroy Gundam is revealed in DESTINY! It's so freakin' powerful. Here's it's new designation: Gigantic Unilateral Numerous Dominating Ammunition Fortress. Scary, huh? :)

Sunday, May 22, 2005

Hehehehe...

Had Japanese class as usual today. I don't know why but it seems a little subdued, but only a little. :) John-san and Alfred-san are still the funnymen. :)

I gave up and decided to quit C Math tuition for good today, but my mom made me promise that I will not fail that subject for the Promos (promotional exams). Looks like I'm on my own, better work hard, heh. :)

Had dinner at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia (International Buffet) with my cousins. Apparently one of my aunts suggested going there. Hmm... the food was pretty nice and I enjoyed the time spent with my cousins. But I have a bad feeling we will be revisiting that area for AR JTS (Junior-Treat-Senior)... shelling out $40 per head is a lot. :(

I tried to look for the songs "Quiet Night C.E. 73" and "Shinkai no Kodoku" when I came home. I found Shinkai and a fake version of Quiet Night. Then I realised I had Shinkai long ago together with Gundam SEED DESTINY's OST II. So if anybody has the REAL Quiet Night please send me! Or at least tell me where to get it... I want it so bad... it's a very nice song. :)

That's it for today. :D

Saturday, May 21, 2005

Not bad.

I reached school 13 minutes late at 0828. Mr Chow wasn't too happy, but I managed to rush in, get my stuff out and all of us headed off to CDANS for the friendly shoot. Coincidentally, the bus that we took was the same as the bus that sent the soccer match supporters back yesterday. I wanted to say "hi" to the driver but was too busy and stuff to do so.

Apparently we were only given (45 minutes? 1 hour? I have no idea) to shoot 30 shots (for males) and 20 for female. 2 shots per card plus sighters. I was pretty much calm today on the firing line but I got rushed near the end as time ran out. Looks like I need to plan properly... and shoot faster, the coach said. Took me a great effort not to distract myself though.

In the end, I shot a 248/300 giving me an average of 8.27 per shot. Not too bad, at least it was better than the 7.78 I shot at the CDANS Monthly Shoot two weeks before. I was quite satisifed with my performance despite not achieving my target of at least 500/600, or, translated, 250/300. Hmm. One must be content. :)

Other than that, the rest of the day was boring. My parents and I tried out the new Japanese restaurant at Chinese Swimming Club (it's open to the public! :) ), Tatsu Sushi (達寿司). We realised that one of the sashimi chefs there used to work in the Japanese restaurant near my home that we frequented until it closed down. And then when he walked past my mother struck up a conversation with him. :)

Singapore is indeed small. :P You can like, meet people anywhere coincidentally or something, heh. And that's all for now. :) Bye!

[lazy]

Friday's post

Today was a lazy day. Chemistry SPA Skills C, D weren't too bad (I hope) and after that I rushed the GP Essay. had to go for match support again but the bus left without me for basketball since I was at the photocopying shop printing something. Anyway our girls (?) lost to HCI 34-68. So I kind of slacked at the library while doing Project Work.

Took the bus down to support the soccer semi-fianls (our class was originally assigned to go there) against NJC. We beat them 3-1. Really good match, with its exciting moments. NJC put us on the defensive for the first half of the game and scored the opening goal, but we equalised, then proceeded to crush them in the second half. I was cheering like crazy. Even Mrs Chan (the principal) came. She sat pretty near my class, and I guess she heard our cheering. :) Mr Chow of course, shouting as usual during matches.

Was on a high and pretty happy as we returned back to school. Managed to squeeze onto the bus (thanks councillors, you know who you are!) and engaged in idle banter with the driver. He said I was "handsome" but "like Osama's brother" since I didn't shave and my mustache was growing all over the place. Heh. Funny guy, the driver is. Those sitting nearby laughed too. One guy concluded that he was from VS (Victoria School, with all its lame/funny people :P) but apparently he didn't study (or so he claims).

Returned to school to find the armory locked so I couldn't train. Foudn otu also that everyone was going for the friendly shoot with the other JCs tomorrow. Wish me luck, I guess. :) Then I returned home early and slacked. That's all for a fast blog today, signing off!

Thursday, May 19, 2005

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith opens today!

Yes, it official opens in Singapore today! I hope to catch it soon... And as for today, we were slated to go for match support, to help cheer on the hockey girls in their (semi final?) match against NJC. We were glad to skip lessons, but it was kind of wasted since out Geography teacher was on MC... and our skipping of the lesson made no difference.

We won 2-0, and I must say, the NJC cheers sounded weird. Lol. Maybe I'm too used to listening to VJC cheers already... (no offense to any NJCians who may happen to come across my blog :P)

I didn't train today since I didn't feel motivated enough. No idea why. Was pretty tired too... Oh well, there's always tomorrow I guess? And there's gonna be SPA again tomorrow, I need to mug for it somehow. That sucks, I am afraid of it now that I have flunked one Skill B...

I'll need all the luck I can muster tomorrow. :)

Bored.

I am bored and I have no idea what I am doing. *sighs*

Science Council Investiture was... closed-door. I am officially installed as the Secretary of Physics Society...

And I'm so hyped up over Star Wars after The Straits Times (Life!) ran an article on it. Yay. :)

Not much more to blog, except maybe that we replaced the wooden top of the tables at the range with a cloth top. Stripped off the wood, stuck on the cloth. The glue stank. Wonder how people can get addicted to glue-sniffing.

And that's really about it.

EDIT @ 2359: I knew I shouldn't have slept... but I gave in and then failed to watch Shaman King, the conclusion of the battle between Tao Ren and Yoh. Damnit. Now I only kenw that he drew the match and somehow got into the next round. Ugh. Why am I so crazy over this? Because it's really nice and cool and stuff. :) Heh. Oh well. I feel stoned now.

Nothing to blog about today. Didn't shoot too good today. Probably won't be getting jacket in a while since all are taken and I'm too small to fit into the rest. And that's about it. Downloaded the Star Wars Episode II: A Lost Hope parody after reading about it on Yahoo!News. Quite funny, it is. :)

Indecisiveness

The normal dreary day today. There was this event, Cheer Up Asia where they were looking for volunteers to sign up as cheer-dancers (different from cheerleading), marshals, ushers, youth ambassadors and so on. Some of their people came down to speak to us. I was indecisive as to whether to go or not and made my decision too late, so I didn't get to pick up the form. Oh well. We'll see how things go...

My flu nearly killed me today since I was sneezing all over the place. tried to train and shot badly with a 69 for scoring. The 7-shot groupings weren't too nice either. Other than that there isn't much to blog about today, save for the fact that there's this interesting piece of news posted over at Gunota's (http://aeug.blogspot.com) about a Gundam-like robot being developed by this Japanese guy.

It actually walks and can fire projectiles from two guns which are controlled from the cockpit. I saw the videos... very interesting. I want to see it for myself.

Points to note:
1. I try to correct the name spellings where I can, but for the others which I have not watched or heard before I have no idea what their exact names are, so please advise!
2. The Surname is usually put in front of the given name for Japanese names, but in here most of them are arranged in name-surname form.
3. The names in bold are those that I know of, AND have seen either on TV, newspapers, the Net, or some research that I may have come across.

EDIT @ 16/5/2005, 2222: Wishlist: SEED DESTINY girls, Evangelion girls, Tsubasa Chronicle, perhaps? And many others. :)

Normalcy

Didn't blog yesterday because there was nothing to blog about. Trained, didn't shoot because Li Zhe came the same time that I did and I let her use the rifle. Everybody had separate plans after training so I was left to go to Parkway Parade alone when I bumped into Yong Sheng, who also came from DHS. :) Air Rifle senior too, I look up to him pretty much. :) So I had lunch with him and made some small talk. Then we left and the rest of the weekend just flew.

Resumed Japanese lessons today after missing one week due to the CDANS Monthly Shoot. Gee, they learnt pretty much. The classroom is now totally filled due to (I think) students from other classes switching to this Sunday slot. Now sitting beside me is this middle-aged woman who has weird bangles on her left wrist. I can't talk directly to Jefrrey now but what the hell. A couple also came and took the seats beside Eugene, so Claudia couldn't sit with us and the four of us were kind of split. Hmm...

C-Maths tuition was still okay despite my initial misgivings about it (as usual). This is one day where I was actually cleare-headed enough to try to remember my mathematics stuff and attempt some questions. Apparently I'm shitty enough to forget most of the stuff. After tuition I went for a haircut. I found out that "herworld" and "Cleo" magazines, although written (by females?) for females, were a pretty nice read (was bored so I browsed through them. :P). At least we guys see things from the female point of view (-> flame me for this if you disagree :P) and whatever. My point is, reading this allows us to understand things more. Heh. And kill time. And I slept during the haircut (as usual) albeit fitfully (as usual too)... :P

Reached home, stoned and watched Deep Blue Sea at night. Still slacking now. :P Got Episode 6 of Tsubasa pretty quickly so I watched it too. Interesting stuff. Mmm... *signs off* Makes me want to try to find the music albums already.

Unlucky Friday 13th

Today was the short Friday, but I screwed it all up. In the morning, it was announced who got into the House Committee. Apparently my classmate Joyce became House Captain of Draco. Now we'll have some heavy firepower to bring down on Mr Chow, the Ursa Housemaster. Rawr. Hehe.

Why did I screw Friday up? Becuase of the damned SPA (Science Practical Assessment). It was supposed to be a simple experiment, and titration, no less. I am pretty confident in my titration skills, but today has made it just the second time in my life that I have failed such a thing. I suspect it all staretd with me not capping the standard flask and thus allowing the iron(II) ions in dissolved iron(II) sulphate to oxidise. But my friend didn't have that happen to him. All in all, I followed every single instruction but failed to get the end-point. I restarted the experiement 15 minutes before time was up and screwed up the last bit too thus affecting the level of marks which I would get. Plus I did not write the colour change (damn it, I was busy memorising it!) of the solution which thus affected my report. Level 3 is the highest I believe I can attain. This does not forebode well for my Chemistry "A" Levels (yes, it's part of them that's why I am worried) and I believe I only have a second chance at Skill B. I cannot screw that up, neither can I for any other thing. *sighs* I cried after the experiment.

I must thank David (student councillor whom I know) and Hong Jie and everyone else whom I've poured out my troubles to, for helping me with recovering from this setback (it may be small, but I got hit hard). *sighs* All I can do is to move on.

GP made me ask myself why I blog. I have no answer to that, but I guess I have become one of many "exhibitionists", to quote and change Mr Lee's words a bit. I willingly type all of these and post them on the Net for all to see. If I wanted to read it myself I would have kept a diary but I guess typing is more fun than writing :). Oh well. I shall continue though, and perhaps one day I'll find the answers I seek to everything. Including my purpose on this planet, and what I am doing, since I have endured bouts of self-doubt and worthlessness everytime (even today...) but that's not for you to know.

I shot pretty well during training (finally my 30-shot grouping is of an acceptable standard since I concentrated most of the time and didn't have much stray shots. :) Positioning seemed to be right too). Although as time went on, I deteriorated. Ended with 2 x 10-shot scoring, with scores of 78 and 79/100 each. Hmm. Normal standard. :)

Went out of the range at 1800 plus and headed off to the squash court (I visited that place at 1500 too) to watch Samuel and co. who had been playing squash since 1500. They learnt it fast... and towards the end I tried to serve but my lousy ball sense (ok may I wasn't really trying hard because I was a little embarrassed with Michelle and my Maris Stella friend -> I don't know his name, I just know him. :P) prevented me from doing so. Heh.

Went home after that, slacked and watched the last episode of Beautiful Illusions (the 2100 show on Mediacorp Channel 8). It was nice and sad, but marred by the stony acting of the supporting actors (those minor ones... some may criticise me as having no right to comment but hey, I want to. :P). And then here I am blogging. Nothing else now, guess I'll sign off. Catcha 'all later!

Hrrrmph? Know, do you?

Had my NAPFA 2.4km run today. It was slightly drizzly, but the weather was cool and nice for the run. Our PE estimaed that our times could improve by up to a minute or so. And so I pushed myself. Harder than I've ever done so before. I finished 27/43 in a time of 11:35, which I guess is not bad for myself, at least its a C and I can get a Silver Award for the test (my Standing Broad Jump dragged me down). I usually run around 12-minutes plus, closer to the 13-minute side though. So the weather plus my pushing myself contributed to this good timing. I was pretty much nauseous for about 30 minutes after the run, which Daryl (a track and field athlete so he knows better) attributed to me eating breakfast, and then running so all the blood is at the legs and not so much directed around the stomach. Thankfully I didn't vomit.

Strangely I did not fall asleep much throughout the day and was pretty awake. But I flopped my training making one stray shot after another and blasting a relatively large hole for 30 shots. I know I start out well, then get shittier as fatigue wears me down... Need to combat that.

Bought today's edition of The New Paper today (people buy it to read soccer news, but not me) because of its 20-page Star Wars special. Yay, Star Wars mania! I'm SO gooing to watch Episode III on May 19 or later. Anyway, I shall end with the Jedi and Sith Codes:

There is peace
There is no ignorance
There is knowledge
There is no passion
There is serenity
There is no death
There is the Force

-The Code of Jedi

Peace is a lie
There is only passion
Through passion

I gain strength
Through strength
I gain power
Through power
I gain victory
Through victory
my chains are broken
The Force shall
set me free

Double Joy? Heh.

Short Wednesday today. But by Physics Lecture I was already super-sleepy and I didn't understand a word of what the lecturer was trying to explain. Guess I'll have to stare at the nots on my own later.

Anyway, today was the speech-cum-Q&A for the Physics Society exco. I only wanted to run for committee member, andyes, the five of us had to make a small speech, and answer some questions. I basically talked about myself, leadership positions held, my experiences and all. And then the final question, which came from Ying Ying, the Vice-Chairperson (She's from China and she's extremely cute I must say... Shh, all who read this don't let it leak out! :P): Did you volunteer to be the Draco mascot during Sports Day?

I didn't really hear the question but I answered to the effect of "yes" and my part of the interview ended. Hehe. I didn't even know that it ended until she said "thank you very much..." LOL. :D Oh well, in the end I got more than what I bargained for. I was elected (final decisions made by the outgoing Exco) to the post of Secretary. Now I really have to plan my time properly...

As for AR, did some light training today (actually went down at 1600+) and stuff. Ali felt that I could start wearing the jacket (top) already so I am going to start training with one tomorrow! Yay! It's going to be hot... too bad the VJ range is not air-conditioned. But if it was I'll probably sneeze and feel too cold to do anything. Heh. So double joy for clinching a post in PhySoc exco (I'm not kiasu or what, but... there's nothing to lose yes? Mei Yan told me that :P) and getting the jacket.

AR training schedules are beginning to heat up due to the upcoming, uber-important National Inter-School Shooting Competition (or whatever it's called). Mr Chow wants to gauge our attendance levels and performances over the next few weeks to decide from among the seniors and juniors, 20 shooters to represent VJC in the competition. With my skill level I doubt I can make it but it doesn't harm to try. I have a bad feeling that my attendance has been taken wrongly though, because the seniors reprimanded us for poor attendance rates (I know I came only thrice last week for the other weeks I go down every single day except Monday and Sunday...)

Oh well. There's also the Mid-Years to mug for. I have to plan everything well (or so I say, most likely I'll procrastinate, hehe. :P)

That's all for now. Signing off!

[no title]

Yesterday was the long and usual draggy Monday> I had an attack of the "Monday blues" and didn't feel like doing anything (even rushing incomplete homework) throughout the day. Felt damend bored and stuff. Didn't train and instead went to support the soccer match, VJC vs. MJC. They have two national players and we, one. But we won them 3-0. The last goal was especially exciting. The striker (don't know who) shot, it got deflected by the goalkeeper who went groundwards, and the striker managed to place another shot even when two defenders were bearing down on him. Absolutely fabulous.

Dad took me out to eat Japanese food again since Mom didn't cook. I went home and fell on my bed and conked out at 2145 for no reason. Woke up at 0430 but decided to sleep all the way.

And today, yes. Same day at school. I trained and shot 81 today. Back to the no-jacket days. Jung Seong tells me to find my "natural position" and I wonder how in the world am I to do it. Not exactly sure how to, but I guess it will be the position where I don't have to move the sight much after attaining stability. And stability occurs only for that few microseconds...

I have decided to run for Physics Society exco. Hopefully no one else runs (including me, already 4 people running for an estimated 4 posts) otherwise my hopes may become very diminished. But this means I may have to take some time off training (it's not as if I'm uber-good now, remember I still don't have a jacket) to plan Science Council stuff, if any. I just added one more thing onto my schedule and that means less online game-playing. :( Heh. That's about it I guess.

On a side note, SEED DESTINY 29 was a totally confusing episode which raises a lot of questions...

Multiple postings

6/5/2005

That day was a short day. No half-day, but I only had two periods of Chemistry Lecture to attend after which there were four periods of break, since I did not have Chemsitry SPA (Science Practical Assessment) that week. So basically I wasted my time while trying to think of a Project Work idea my group could work on, then it was off for the NE (National Education) trip to OCS at SAFTI-MI. Skipped GP and Geography by the way.

There, we were split into several groups and led around by different OCTs (Officer Cadets). There were other JC's too, namely NJC (National Junior College) and SAJC (Saint Andrew's Junior College) people. The OCT in charge of my group was this person called Yeo Eng Kuang. Ours happened to be an all-male group, and we were given brief introductions of places and landmarks and stuff within OCS, including making a trip up the SAF Tower (? Forgot the exact name) and stuff. Only the top 10% of each OCT batch get to climb the 265 steps (each step symbolising each day of the the OCT training course) to the top of the tower.

I brought my digital camera along and was more busy taking pictures than listening, heh. All in all, it is an interesting place and the life there doesn't seem too bad (what, no training from 1000-1200 and 1300-1530 because it's hot and cadets may get heat stroke and stuff. Safety is really not compromised here). But training is tough... I do hope to get in here when my time for NS comes. On a side note, my neighbour Wen Guang actually got posted to OCS after his NS...so I guess that's a good thing. I would have blogged more but I'm too lazy, can't really remember stuff and was too tired to do so on that actual day. Oh, and I tried out the M-16 again. Heh. Oh, and I'm too lazy to figure out how to connect my camera to the computer so there probably won't be pictures for quite a while.

I accepted Kang Hong's invitation to attend VJC's Drama Nite 2005 (he got tickets and no one wanted to go with him) on impulse. We chatted as I had dinner, yes that was nice. :) It was really worth it though! The two plays staged by the VJC Drama Society were excellent. Choon Yong (don't know him, but I've seen him around in school before though) is really going to become a legend after starring as a transsexual. He did it with gayness of 1000%, and in the ending scenes he actually wore a small top (those for the girls), a bra, a short skirt and no briefs. Everyone could see his buttocks after he stood up from a sitting position near the end. Hehe. Anyway it rocked. Seriously. Reached home at 2300 and fell unconscious after watching Shaman King.

7/5/2005

Nothing much to note. I screwed up training again and then celebrated Mother's Day at my paternal grandmother's house with all my paternal cousins whom I've never seen in YEARS. Yeah yeah yeah bla bla bla. But...I was offered a chance to enter a competiton for AR! (to replace Caryn, who couldn't go) A minor one, but still important because it would be the first time I would be wearing the full jacket, pants and boots. The CDANS Monthly Shoot (May). I got all jittery and stuff though, worrying about the competition which was held today. I decided to copy Japanese notes from Eugene-san next week.

8/5/2005

The shoot was today giving me the chance to skip Maths tuition too. Reached school at 0840 to find nobody there, so I waited till around 0900 for Jeffrey and co. to arrive. Packed up my stuff according to a checklist (Jia Ying told me to make one, thanks!) and headed for the CDANS range at Bukit Batok. I would be wearing Yin Cheng's jacket, a new pair of pants (no one could fit into that pair I heard) and Jerome's boots. I used Yin Cheng's rifle case too.

Boy, was the range cold! It was raining in the morning too, and I quickly changed into my "battle gear" (long-sleeved shirt and track pants) once at the range. Warmed up, changed into the jackets, and soon we were on our way to shoot for our details. I shot pretty well for my sighters, and the first few shots, afterwhich I deteriorated. Bad focus and I was worrying about what others thought of me, Mr Chow observed. Guess I'm not too used to the jacket yet.

I was distracted (no, I shouldn't have been) by this old man in the lane beside me. He stopped after every few (bad, I noticed) shots and stuff. He was using an air compressed pistol and he looked pretty stressed. I knew I shouldn't have looked at him... I MUST FOCUS ON MYSELF AND MYSELF ONLY! *sighs*

Finished the Monthly Shoot and was ranked last among the rifle shooters with my wonderful score of 467/600 giving me an average of 77.833/100 for each of my series, and 7.833 for each shot. At least I maintained my standard (my average was only slightly better than what I could do without a jacket). Hmm. Wonder if I would actually get to train with jackets from now on. Even if I don't at least I got a feel of it. Oh well, it's over now. I collected all sorts of shots from 10-pointers to 3-pointers (shot 3 of those :( ), heh. Amazingly, Rhesa got second among the student pistols' category and Jeffrey got first. :)

Went to Parkway Parade after that with those who shot in the competiton. Left after a while to visit Popular hoping to find a copy of Edge Of Chaos: Independence War, but it wasn't there. Met this guy and chatted with him about Gundam SEED DESTINY, then I went home.

Now there's work to do... and also to consider whether or not to run for Physics Society Exco. That has been troubling me for a while now and it sucks. :( Oh well, I guess I'll sign off here. Sayonara!

Bah.

Long, sleepy day. Scraped through NAPFA Test (I forgot what it stood for but it's a test of physical fitness)... with the highest award possible now being a Silver. Hopefully my 2.4km run would bring me a D grade at least... (12:53). Did 42 (teacher gave me 43 :) sit-ups in a minute, jumped 222 cm in a single leap, did 6 chin-ups (sucky! I counted 7 but the teacher said 6 :(. ), completed 4 x 10 m shuttle run in 10.3 seconds, and attained a distance of 39 cm for Sit-And-Reach. Really srape through lol.

And I woke up in the morning only to have a cramp in my right calf. After the jump my left rear-thigh muscle cramped. Yikes. Not good.

Then the day dragged on culminating in everybody falling asleep during Geography tutorial. I lasted till 1520 before starting to fall asleep. Heh.

Went down to the range and shot, but simply couldn't focus. No idea why. The "keep a song ringing in my head" doesn't seem to work so well now. I think I need to shoot quickly, since I seem to have spent a slightly longer time on my shots, plus I must take note of my positioning.
Hmm, did a pretty-average 77/100 for 10-shot scoring, down 7 from my first high of 84. That sucks. And that's pretty much it for today.

Going to OCS (Officer Cadet School) at SAFTI-MI (Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute - MI = ?) tomorrow on a field trip. So even if there was a half-day off (VJC Choir got Gold With Honours at SYF Central Judging) it wouldn't affect me... :( *sighs*

Oh well...

Science Quest XI

I was pretty much waiting for Science Quest XI to be held in the afternoon. Gave me something to look forward to. I was excused from GP because of that, and didn't go down to CDANS to participate in the mini-competition for AR. But yes, it was fun in a sense.

Physics Society was in charge of invilgating the participants as well as marking the Physics component of the paper given to the participants. I was deployed as a marker, while my friends Alon and Poh Ying were deployed as tour guides. They got to eat... LOL :P. It was a little boring having to patrol the lecture theatre every once in a while, and getting stumped by the questions the candidates asked, but yes, it's a new experience. At least now I know what it feels like to invigilate, and to be invigilated. :)

Then came the marking of the papers. The papers I received came from Beatty Secondary, Nanyang Girls' High and I think Catholic High. Sadly, the Beatty Secondary girls (or at least those that I marked) didn't do well, obtaining negative scores for the MCQ (multiple choice questions) section and a zero for the Physics component of the structured questions since they didn't do anything or scribbled some gibberish. Kinda reminds me of what I do during Math exams. The other schools did better.

Dunman High sent a team too, and I recognised Xun Yong (ex-Scout junior) from amongst them. Sadly, DHS flunked today's competition, obtaining a team score of 90 out of a maximum of 320. A far cry indeed from the victor's (Raffles Institution, RI) score of 213.5. Interstingly, RI beat Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) by 3.5 points. HCI could have won, theire first three individual scores were pretty good. Then an idiot had to score 30 points to bring his team down. Heh.

There was prize presentation and stuff after that, and I slept through most of the speech given by the guest-of-honour, a certain Professor Chia from NTU, NIE. (Nanyang Technological University, National Institute of Education?). Bad to sleep through speeches.

Reflecting on my behaviour during marking, I think I could have done better. I was laughing (a little) at the low scores of the papers I marked (since I've never seen a negative score before, I bet no one has) and treated it with a cavalier attitude. Although I did my best to mark it to the best of my ability, I felt that I could have done better and not be so rude... :( Mmfff... improvements...

I left school at around 1800 and headed for Dhoby Ghaut MRT station to meet up with Jonathan. Unfortunately he arrived half an hour later than expected due to him having to eat dinner (I'm not blaming you, Jon... it's not your fault). We made our way to Istana Park, but I saw the long queue of people outside the Istana opposite, and decided to go home instead of queue along to get into the Istana to pay my last respects to Dr. Wee since there wasn't time to wait. Heard that VJC was looking for volunteers to go though. I even kept my tie after Science Quest so that I would look presentable in the Istana but it wasn't used in the end. Wasted.

I salute you, Sir...

And so intrepid Jamal slept on the bus and reached home feeling totally deflated and stuff at 2015. And then after dinner and slacking in front of the TV, he blogs at 2210. :)

Need to watch Shaman King and stuff later on. Things are heating up in SEED DESTINY and Tsubasa too... yay! :)

Happy!

Not bad. Skipped Math tutorial today due to the 22nd Students' Council Investiture. Made me a little jealous but... oh welll, whatever. :) I'm getting around to photocopying my lost Math stuff, and there's still that elusive thing which I lost. that cannot be recovered. I rememeber mentioning it to Li Seng then I forgot about it again. Generally okay day though, although Mr Chow chided me for not studying for the Physics Lecture Test which I most likely flunked. Looks like my definitions were wrong, plus I didn't do half the paper...

Headed for the range to train again, first time I am doing two-shot scoring. I did that right after 5-shot grouping which wasn't too fantastic. But I shot damned well today! I got 84... not bad for a non-jacket shooter. All I need now is to be consistent, even Jung Seong (senior) told Mr Chow that I should be ready for a jacket already. Mr Chow wants me to be more consistent since he thinks that I seem to have "a thousand and one things" on my mind everythime I train -> Quite true... I need to clear my mind really. Be focused, dude. You can do it. The jacket is coming... :) I hope.

Looks like Dr. Wee due to complications arising from prostate cancer. He seemed to have been well-liked by everyone from the newspaper reports and interviews I've been reading and hearing. I think I will make a trip down to the Istana tomorrow to like, pay my respects to a great leader and stuff. I should, as a Singaporean. Hmm. I wonder if anyone would want to go with me...

Xenon (Randomness!) All good things must come to an end...

I just played and played PU 2 for the whole of today. Didn't do anything else. Lost my Math so I can't complete my assignments. Need to think of PI for PW... :( Shit.

EDIT @ 2210: With a heavy heart I type out this edit. Singapore's 4th(? -> Will update when information arrives) President, Dr. Wee Kim Wee, passed away (from some disease...) early this morning. He served as President of the Republic of Singapore from 1985 to 1993. According to the news, he was known as a people's President. I first saw the news crawler when I was watching DragonBall Z in the morning. I guess I don't really know much about him since I was pretty young at the time he stepped down from the Office of President, citing health and other reasons (I was what, 5?) but still, there is a tinge of sadness there, yes? News At Ten (Channel 8) is now doing a special report on him, probably pulled from the national archives.

On another note, I wonder what it would be like if one of our national leaders passed away... (Oh God, please don't hunt me down for this! I apologise beforehand!)

Hmm... (2)

There was no Japanese lesson today. Yonekura-sensei is probably vomiting blood at home over our lousy hiragana writing. lol! 御免なさい! (Gomen nasai; Sorry!) Hehe. So I spent the morning learning badminton in the hall of Maha Bodhi School (my 4th Aunt is the secretary of the alumni association there) (yes, I suck at it, I think I suck at everything I do, even the sports I play. Lazy me. :P) So my 6th uncle was like teaching me how to serve and all, then we just whacked shuttlecocks to and fro and I monkeyed around a little with my cousins. :) Kinda bushed after that, lol.

Had to go for C-Math tuition too and was struggling to stay awake (as usual) whiel trying hard to remember (and not remembering) my formulas and methods and stuff. MY MATHS FILE IS STILL MISSING... how I wish I could just find it on the road or something. *sighs*

Other than that, it's a mundane day. I rediscovered the fun of playing Parallel Universe 2 (the right way) after quitting Parallel Universe 1 three years ago due to losing ALL my items from a server crash. Hope it doesn't happen again, lol. :) This game is promising. Gonna watch Tsubasa later on. Yay!

Holy Shit...

Friday, 29/4/2005

What started off as a short and happy day ended up in disaster. School was short, and Mr Lee our GP tutor decieded to cancel his lessons since "half the class wasn't here." And we ended two periods early for the VJC Annual Track and Field Meet. I changed into the mascot suit (brown dinosaur, kinda had the jaw ripped a little but fixed it with masking tape afterwards) at 1415, and went blind for the rest of the meet since I didn't have space to put on my spectacles. Wasted, couldn't ogle at the girls during the cheerleading routines.

The first event was the mascot race. Draco (my House), Lynx, Ursa and Pegasus' mascots agreed to mob the Aquila (hehe Santosh, who didn't run and walked :P) and Phoenix mascots (Nicholas, track and field captain, he wore only a biker helmet and spiked running shoes while people like me were running barefoot with socks, otherwise the heat from the track would barbecue us) :P But the plan failed because everyone was charging. So I charged too and ended the race 5th... or 4th I can't remember. All I know was that the suit was super-hot and I was sweating all over. My singlet (need to wear less clothes in suit) was totally wet!

So Draco was overall last. From overall champion to overall last. Kinda sucky, but its because no one particiapted in events that could earn us house points. Anyway there's still next year... Heh. And I'm attached to the suit already. I don't mind being the mascot again next year if no one wants to be. :) I even did Whiney Whiney in the mascot suit! :)

When Sports Day ended, I went to Burger King @ Parkway with some of the Pegasus people (I'm from Draco) since Kendrick and Stephanie were around. Felt a little out-of-place, but who cares? Left at 2200 and reached home only to discover to my horror that I had mispalced my Maths File (and some other documents, I don't know what) in school. I took a bus and headed back to school, but couldn't find a single thing. I searched the dustbins, and everywhere I thought possible, but nothing. I then headed to Burger King but did not find anything either. I returned home worried. And that's about it.

Normal day. Still worried about Maths file but cannot do anything about it. Generally OK during training although I made a few strays. Listened to the AR Exco nominees make their speeches, too bad I cannot vote next Wednesday since I won't be around. maybe they'll let me vote externally.

Got the AR Jersey (it was pretty big, maybe I should have taken M) and changed into it. Went with the AR peeps to have lunch at the hawker centre at Marine Parade Central. Returned to Han's (behind NTUC) and saw that the AR people who went there hadn't left. Michelle joined in too (she quit AR... :( ) and then Michelle, Min Ning, Rhesa and myself went to Parkway Parade to stroll. Headed into Swensen's at 1528. The girls wantd to get some food but Rhesa and me didn't have money. In the end, none of us ordered, and just drank some water before leaving Swensen's. :P

Swensen's staff: "Thank you for coming!"

Us: "You're welcome."

LOL. Met some of Joel's friends doing street evangelism. Getting people to join a church huh... Maybe I need something to propel me to reach for what I want to achieve in life. What is that? *shrugs*

Left Parkway at 1630 and returned home to freshen up for dinner with my grandmother and cousins. I forgot to greet my grandmother... luckily she's kind and understanding woman. :) I did greet her in the end though, heh. Then they went to Parkway AGAIN... lol. I might get sick of that place...

Short post for today since I'm too lazy to do anything else. :)

Move on?

28/4/2005

Hmm. Thursday is uaually a long and sleepy day for me but I didn't feel THAT sleepy today. Maybe it's because it rained some bit... hehe. :) So the day went by. I missed copying some Geography notes (damn, I hate this! :( ) but yeah...

Tried on the dragon suit that I am supposed to wear for tomorrow's Sports Day. It's brown, damned hot, and I can't wear my glasses with that thing. Which means I'll probably be blind during the meet. And there's the mascot race, 100 metres... hopefully I don't finish last. MR Chow might just use his sarcasm on me again.

Zhen Iang told me earlier that the shortlist for those who made it into the second round of AR Exco nominations would be up today. And came up it did. 12 people were running for 7 posts, and two were eliminated from Round 1. Zhen Iang and myself. He wasn't too happy about it, neither was I, but I guess it had to happen since I didn't really know how to go about my interview. My bloody soft voice, indecisive answers and all. I guess I have to move on. I wonder if running for Exco in Physics Society is still open? Maybe I should try for Vice Chairman or something. Hehe. But AR takes up most of my time... and yet I'm not in exco. Perhaps I should just stay a happy person like Ali and Jerome, whom I think don't have other CCAs... At least I don't have to make a speech and face everyone's questions on Saturday. Hehe. I really wanted to be a Range Officer though. Let's see who gets that job.

Oh well. It was still sad though, but I know it's my fault and nothing else.

After training I went back to see the Draco cheerleading thing and to offer support and stuff. this girl, Joanna (?) fell while doing stunts (we're like n()()bs [newbies] compared to the other Houses, but I guess we're still cool!) and hit her head. Not good. Hopefully she'll be able to perform tomorrow and stay fine and genki ( -> Japanese for general wellness and fineness :P)and all. I hope I can fully get into the role of mascot tomorrow too (shit, how to act cute?) and drink lots of water and all (I don't wanna dehydrate!)... Wish me luck folks... Hehe.

Still need to think of PI too.

[note to self: water swirling in different directions, teach children about Earth's hemispheres?]

I left school at 2115 hours while the rest of Draco cheerleaders were still practising. Managed to catch half of Inuyasha (still slept through the first part... my body seems to give way at 2250) and Shaman King. But I missed yesterday's great battle between Yoh & Amidamaru and Tokagero... sadness. Hehe.

I guess that's it for now. :)

Simon and Garfunkel

Note that my title has totally nothing to do with my post. Who were those guys anyway? They sound familiar. Anyway, here's me, blogging about well... nothing much. Draggy day, flopped the interview for AR Exco (I basically answered the questions crappily and allowed myself to be shot down each and every time), now I'd be damned lucky if I got my post. Everyone else's interviews went fine, the seniors were laughing and making jokes and all... :( Gah. And I was the first to go on the line...

Flunked the Physics Lecture Test too. Despite not studying everything, I was pretty confident about it. But I took too long to complete the questions in front, and I missed out on the rear half the paper. Bloody freakin' hell. Hopefully I pass... If I fail Chow's probably NOT going to kill me, but it'll further worsen my image I guess. I'm so kiasu huh?

*sighs* So bored and sick of life and stuff. Sometimes it happens. And I shot well...average today. Scattered some shots on my white card (IMO, 7/20 shots were out) and blew a hole on my black one (a bit big for 20 shots, but I started re-sighting my rifle only on the 13th shot) which improved results a little.

That's about it.

News-wise, I am just lazy to comment on stuff even though I do think about them soemtimes. Well, just for kicks, the newspaper (The Straits Times) carried a report today that stated that the Taiwanese navy could hold off a Chinese naval/air attack for two weeks, and made it sound as if it was very important. What, two Kidd-class destroyers being the linchpin of the fleet? One Kidd-class shooting down 19 aircraft and 16 missiles before being sunk? The Americans and Taiwanese must have overestimated their strength. The Kidd-class is a pretty old piece of junk (the US built them 20 years ago according to the report) and I doubt even with modernisation, it could be that powerful. But then again this is a simulation. They probably projected some simulated Chinese battle procedures in. On the battlefield, however, things change. The actions of every individual shape the battlefield and may cause it to flow in a different way from that of the simulation. The report didn't state the parameters under which the simulation was conducted so I cannot comment further.

This concludes today's post. Tata!
