Hey all.. sorry for the real dusty blog.. has been quite a time since i last updated. Anyway i came across this feedbacks from a person on the job availabilities for a biotechnologist.
Below is what basically she sums up on the biotechnology field.
By Aline Cecylia L (Spain)
Hi All, I guess i have the luxury of calling myself both a molecular biologist and biotechnologist and i would like to share something with you all.I did my bacherol degree in Tanzania and we were the first intake for Bsc.Molecular biology and biotechnology.we were only 22 students,14 males,8 females!!..We suffered the same problems you are facing, there was no or little exposure on biotech, and we wondered where we will get hired. But at the end i believe we begun to think positivl and it worked.See,you have to look at it from another angle, say, what is biotech?broadly you can say is the application of molecular techniques to a discipline,e.g pharmaceutical biotech = application of of biotech to pharmacy, fermentation biotech(fermentation),angricultural biotech(agriculture),food industries...the point here is,these disciplines were there before biotech.Biotech is modern,it modernise these disciplines.and because of this it takes time to gain the popularity biotech deserve.Back to my story,I got a job as a molecular biologist in health research center working on malaria, several of my classmate also got jobs in research centers(and there are very few research centers),3 went directly for masters, in short ,in a country where there is a little or no exposure of biotech,we got JOBS!!.Here is how i see it,WE BRING SOMETHING EXTRA UNIQUE to the hiring table,we look at things from molecular level.a drug making company can hire a pharmacy graduate but, they hire a biotech student(no offense to pharmacists)..lets not talk why..but u know!!,fermentation/brewery can hire microbilogist but they hire a biotechnologist..Heck!!we can genetic rec/modify the microorganism u use for fermeting...blah blah...again,the point is WE BRING SOMETHING EXTRA!!SOMETHING NEW!!..the jobs are there my friends, whether its in researches,industries..or forensics!!So do not worry my friends..we have been there,we are still there..but there is a light at the end of the test tube!!My Msc(biotechnological engineering) and working title for my PhD is PhD(Molecular Modelling)..i also did few cert. courses in forensics. My advice, get well versed in biotech, and where u can apply it...and the job are there for you..just have confidence!!
Phew!!!..........................its a long post!!
So for those of you who doesn't know what is all biotechnology about, maybe this will enlighten u all =P
P.S : In other words, i am unique too~~ *wink wink*
Went for a supposed-to-be one day roadtrip in Penang. Woke up about 8.3o am.. went to a friend's house to meet and started our roadtrip at 9.30 am. So happy was i don't have to be the driver of the day. Hop into a cute kancil and set we went. =P The actual plan was to visit the Tropical Spice Garden, Butterfly Farm, Fort Cornwallis and proceed to the famous mee soto at Fort Cornwallis.

Hey to all my beloved readers.. Sorry for the extremely late entry.. Was quite busy/hectic for the past 2 weeks.. Lots of reports and presentations to do..
From Penang Times Square, we proceeded to Queensbay Mall. Thought of just having some window shopping. Mana tahu, eyes ithcy, hands itchy, I ended up buying Croc shoes. =.=" There is this promotion where the second pair of shoes you buy, you will be entitled for a 30% discount. So ended up buying this shoes :
Thats all for now. Hopefully more updates in the near future.
Cheers!!

YOUR LIGHT SWITCH IS YOUR VOTE
This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.

Nope it is not about The Lock Up themed restaurant in Japan but i was locked up in my university.
As u all know, currently i am in Institute of Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM) in USM. Yeah only the institute's name itself already sounds canggih/sophisticated. Well i don't deny that it is the best institute in USM Penang itself. It even has an huge elavator in it although it is just a 2 storey building. LoLz
Well since the name itself is already "canggih", the security there is even more "canggih". All the doors in INFORMM is programmed at such it will automatically unlock at 8 am and also automatically LOCK at 6.30pm sharp. Other than those time it is unlock, which means in other words if it is lock, one have to use it's ID card to scan and open the door manually which i have yet to receive my ID card.
So on Thursday itself, as i was having quite a number of workloads, i totally forgot about the auto-locking system of the door. So after happily finish all my stuff, i walk towards the exit entrance and found myself LOCKED UP in the institute. I looked at my watch and it is already 7 pm. wtf.. It was really nerve breaking at that time. I don't want to stay overnight in the institute although they have showers and etc facilities in it for all those scientist to overnight if they are too tired. So i ran around to see if there is any samaritans who are not back yet. Luckilly there is a staff who is still inside the building and he kindly scans open to unlock the door for me. If not, then i think i would really have to overnight in my institute. LoLz
Anyway on Friday night, i went to the Food Fair organised by the state government in PISA Penang. Basically the place was quite huge with more than 100 stalls i think. There are also a stage performance and i love the trio girl bands singing English songs.. Pretty girls with good voices... Sangat merdu betul nyanyian mereka tu. Besides that, there are also cultural performances, "balitong" sucking competition, hotdog bun eating competition in 3 minutes and others more..
Below are some pictures..
P.S : ANyway i have put up a new song in my blog titled "The Show" by Lenka.. nice song though.. Love it.. ^^
It was a long weekend.. Nothing much happened. No juicy gossips.. LoL. Anyway went to Queensbay Mall on Monday night. Wanted to buy some T-shirts but ended up going back empty handed. Went to Esprit, nothing which i like. Same goes to Jusco and Padini.
Friday
The famous bull for the year 2009 by Ivory Properties i think..
Anyway i saw a food outlet in Times Square named Haven's Delight.. they sell ala carte and also buffet style.. i think something like Tao. For the buffet it is RM50++ perperson and they claim that they have more than 200 dishes to choose from Japanese, Shanghainese, Western, Chinese bla bla bla.. So anybody who wants to go there and try, do give me a buzz.. =P
Some pictures from USM Penang..
Big freezer/cold room
Multi-purpose lab..
The neat yet gloomy corridor...
Exterior pictures coming up..
Yes i am growing horizontally lately.. getting fatter day by day.. all my jeans are like so tight and sexy now after wearing them.. i think my waist is getting big. My face is getting rounder now. I think my whole body is already in the process of taking shape into the "lau fu tze" assistant.. the short and fat guy one.. I really need to do somthing about it..
Exam results are released today.. I have yet to collect and check my results from the exam division though.. Not yet. Don't have the courage.. However i am still curious on how fairly i did my exam.. Sigh.. I think i am going to loose tremendous weight after seeing my results.. but i don't want to be slim due to such reason!!
Arghhhh someone please stab me right now.. >.<
What more can i say ? Cron*es? Co*rupti*ns? After the food complaint by a student in New Straits Times, now AIMST is in another pot of deep shit.. Lolz.. oklar.. maybe too rough for a word to be used.. let me say it in a more subtle way.. perhaps AIMSt is in another controversy.. =P

MIC education arm under probe
KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman Commercial Crime division director Datuk Koh Hong Sun yesterday said police had spoken to MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu on allegations of criminal breach of trust in the MIC's education arm Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED). He said investigations were centred on the alleged CBT and not into alleged construction cost over-runs involving MIED's Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology. -- Bernama

Two MIED execs under probe over missing RM5mil
KUALA LUMPUR: Two senior executives of the Maju Institute of Educational Development (MIED) – the education arm of the MIC – are being investigated for alleged criminal breach of trust by the Commercial Crimes Investigation Department.
The two, who hold senior executive posts, are alleged to have taken out more than RM5mil from MIED’s account.
Sources said the money was allegedly transferred into another account, purportedly belonging to one of them.
It is learnt that MIC vice-president Datuk S. Sothinathan lodged a report when he learnt of the missing money.
Sources said MIC top brass also found several documents missing during a routine internal audit.
Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Koh Hong Sun confirmed his officers were investigating the top executives but declined to elaborate.
According to Bernama, police sources revealed that commercial crime officers had spoken to Samy Vellu for five hours at the MIC headquarters on Wednesday and that some files on MIED were taken to aid in the probe.
“The Bukit Aman commercial crime division director is directly monitoring the investigations. This is a big case. We might also question several other MIC leaders on the case.
“Once investigations are completed, we will talk to anti-corruption commission if there was a need for further action.
“It is also monitoring the case and if we need its assistance, we would ask it to move in ... only if the need arises,” said a senior officer involved in investigations.
Samy Vellu, it is also learnt, has briefed the MIC central working committee on the visit by the police to the party headquarters at its meeting on Thursday.
MIED, which runs the Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology (AIMST) through MIED Capital Sdn Bhd, has been mired in controversy after it was revealed that the cost of AIMST doubled from its early estimate.
Last December, Tan Sri M. Mahalingam, a signatory of MIED cheques, was removed as MIC treasurer-general by Samy Vellu who said the move was part of an MIC rebranding exercise.
The party president had also said that there was a need to inject new blood into the party.
MIED chief executive officer P. Chitrakala Vasu, on the other hand, has been asked by Samy Vellu to go on leave since the controversy broke out.
Chitrakala had received and replied to several show cause letters from Samy Vellu.
