We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine...
Great song, see a very silly version of it here:
Today B1 and B2, aka the Bananas in Pyjamas got to go on a submarine. Yup! No foolin'!
Click on the pics for a closer look-see. Here they are in the boat that takes them to the submarine...
And here they are inside the submarine going down to 100 ft so we could see all the different kinds of coral and fish!
The Bananas thought they submarine was very kewl and had a great time! They loved it that there were so many blue fish and yellow fish that matched them, LOL!
Until next time...

Wow! 20!
Yup, that's what everyone says, Wow! 20! as in you've been married for 20 years? Congratulations!
On this day, June 25, 1989, DH and I got married.
By the time we celebrated our 4th anniversary in 1993, I had just brought home from the hospital (the week before) our youngest child. Yup, we had 3 kids in just under 2.5 years. 15 months apart between child #1 and #2 and 15 months apart between child #2 and #3. It was absolute chaos during those years let me tell you. Now the children are 18, 17 and 16 and I wonder where on earth did the time go? If you see it flying by please let me know, LOL.
So that's the reason the 5 of us are in Grand Cayman right now. Celebrating 20 years. Wow! And the reason for the pic of Pepe Le Pew and Penelope is that as kids growing up these 2 cartoon characters were on our all-time favourites' list because they're playful and romantic. So now you know! Until next time...

They are so excited to see the ocean, they've been jumping up and down and driving me crazy for days! LOL!!! Of course that means the 5 of us are going with them too. The laptop is coming too so I can keep up with my bloggy friends. And of course I can post about the adventures of B1 and B2 on vacation. Until next time...

Cat Update
I wasn't able to go to our weekly Wed night quilting get-together this week because our family was celebrating my youngest teen's 16th birthday. I have good news though, remember last week when I posted about the teal cat quilts for my friend J's friend whose house was entirely destroyed by fire? I you don't know what I'm talking about read my post here. Anyway J was at the quilting get-together on Wed and look at what she brought with her:
The lap-sized Cat Quilt and...
The queen sized Cat Quilt.
I think they turned out awesome! J does have to quilt them first before she gives them to her friend. J's friend will be so thrilled to get such wonderful gifts. Thanks to Myra for sending me copies of the pics. Until next time...

16 and 10
Today is my youngest teen's 16th birthday! OMG I can't believe it! My youngest! My baby! Where on earth does the time go? But I must say I am in awe of what kind of person my birthday teenager (and 2 siblings) will be as an adult. The glimpses are so wonderful to observe. My kid s are not perfect by any means but they're awesome! Yes, I know I'm biased!!! LOL The type of birthday cake requested is Spice Cake with Peanut Butter frosting. Will get that done this afternoon so there will be birthday cake for after dinner. Dinner request was not to go out to eat but to stay home for a spaghetti dinner. Whatever the birthday kid wants, right? LOL

Block 9
Summer has finally arrived in my part of the world with temps over 25C (77 F) for more than one day in a row! As a result not much time has been spent in the sewing room because I'm outside. You have to take advantage of the warm weather because our summers are so short. The only bad thing are the mosquitoes....
I did manage to finish block 9 of the FQS Designer Mystery BOM, I've got 3 more to go and then I can put it together! Take a look....Click on the pic for a closer look. I really like how this block turned out. Until next time...

Cats and Teal
At our quilt get-together on Wed night (last night) we power-sewed to help J assemble a queen sized quilt and a lap quilt for her friend who lost everything in her home due to an electrical fire. The friend is staying with J while her house is being rebuilt and the quilts are a surprise. So you can imagine how difficult it was for J to keep this project a surprise, LOL
The recipient of these 2 quilts loves cats and the colour teal so that's why it's predominantly teals and blues. Here's the lap quilt before adding the 2 borders....Here's the queen sized bed quilt almost finished at 9 pm at the end of our evening, just needs the piano key outer border on the top and bottom added....At the beginning of the evening none of the cat blocks were sewn together although they were already divided into rows and the rectangles in the piano key border were only cut and not organzied into rows to sew. Binding for both was also cut and sewn as well as the backings and batting. So when you take that all into account I think we did really well. J went home very pleased with the progress we made. I should also mention that we all volunteered to make the cat blocks and also cut rectangles for the piano key borders. It was a lot of fun! Until next time...

On My Design Wall
Take a look what's on my design wall.....All of my disappearing 9-patch blocks that I worked on at the Mini-Retreat on Sunday. Rearranging blocks has started and is ongoing, LOL
Tonight is our weekly quilting get-together and we're going to power-sew tonight. J is hoping to assemble and sandwich a quilt that she's making for a friend who lost everything in her home to an electrical fire (thankfully she was on vacation when it happened). A special quilt and gift for a friend. Until next time....

Mini Retreat
Yesterday was our mini retreat day where we sewed, ate and talked like crazy from 9 am to 4 pm. My main project that I worked on was my disappearing 9-patch. I completed sewing the 9-patches and then cut them apart into 4 pieces each. Then the fun began, rearranging them into a random pattern that I liked. That part was hard! At the end of the day I had half of the quilt laid out. I'll have to clean off my design wall and rearrange them on there here at home.
Here are some pics of some show and tell that we had at show and tell at the end of the day...Until next time...

Tagged Invite-Don't Open Email Invite
I can't believe how dumb I am sometimes. I received 2 emails from quilters I know that 'invited me to see their pics'. So I went for it. After I registered and saw what was going on I deleted my account. But it probably already did it's damage. Argh! So if any of you recieve an email that's an 'invite' from me don't open it, delete it and make it spam! For further info read this helpful post that Crispy wrote and a post from Michelle here that explains it very well.
My apologies to my quilter friends that read my blog.
Until next time....

Fabric Basket
I actually spent time in my sewing room yesterday afternoon and look what I did...I finally got around to making this fabric basket based on a tutorial I first wrote about here. If you want to go directly to the tutorial click here. It was so much fun and quick to make up, instant gratification! A quilter needs that once in a while, eh?
I also decided to change up my blog background, do you like it?
Now it's time to figure out what projects I'm going to take with me to a Mini Retreat Day on Sunday, maybe I should make more fabric baskets and ignore all my UFOs, LOL! Until next time...

Mail Goodies
Last fall, while attending ISQSC in Fargo ND, I saw a Bunny Hill Design pattern called "Postcard Cuties for Winter" and instantly fell in love with the sample of the quilt all done up. Unfortunately that vendor was sold out of the pattern and none of the other vendors had it either. I was confindent that I'd track it down once I got home. No such luck there either! So, what's a girl to do? Keep it in mind while surfing the internet, right? I found a shop that had the pattern while doing one of those online quilt shop-hops. I ordered it and it came in the mail. I'm just delighted with it. Wanna see?Time to go for our weekly Wed quilt get-together. Maybe there will be some show and tell and then I can post some pics later! Until next time...
