Christmas in Cedar.

Even though we were small in numbers, we still had a great time on Christmas Eve at my parents home in Cedar. My sister Kim and her family joined in the evenings festivities. First off was the christmas concert showcasing all the amazing talent in our family. I say that with a little bit of sarcasm--we are not very talented. Although, my nieces and nephews are getting pretty good at the piano and it was fun to hear them play.

Whitney started us off. She did great!

Erik thought it would be fun to take a piano class for beginners at BYU, so he had to show us what he had learned so far. Pretty impressive!

Ella even joined in and showed off what we've been practicing at home!

Brad and Erik serenaded us with the guitars and we joined in singing some Christmas hymns.

Next up was the scripture story and nativity.

Lauren and Ella were the sweetest angels I ever did see.

Our tiny nativity--with no wisemen and only one shepherd. We worked with what we had!

After the nativity scene we jumped in the cars and drove around looking at all the lights around town. There is one house up on the hill that we always have to make it to. I think about every inch of their yard and house is covered in lights! Pretty sure you can see it from the moon. Every time go look at this house I just can't help imagine what their electric bill must be the month of December!

Ella and Uncle Erik right before bed time.

We made sure to leave Santa with yummy cookies and snacks for the reindeer.

Ella helped compose a note to Santa with special instructions for the reindeer.

Christmas morning. While growing up, we had to get a picture at the top of the stairs before we went down and checked out all of our presents.

Yup, Santa came. He even took time to write Ella back!

Ella and I look a little tired!

She beat everybody at Hungry Hungry Hippos (and only cheated sometimes).

We stopped by to visit with my grandparents. We sure miss being close around them!

I got to go to lunch with some of my girl friends at the place I worked during high school and up until I had Ella. It was so much fun. We stayed way too long and laughed way too much. I have known most of these ladies since our elementary days. I love these gals. And we missed those who weren't there!

One afternoon we took all the kids to a place full of big slides and bounce houses. This slide was so steep. Ella was brave and went down it. She had a look of terror on her face all the way down and spread her legs out as far as she could to keep herself from going too fast. I think she inherited the lack of doing anything scary or daring from me!

One of my sisters and I got brave and went down the tall slide. It really was scary! I screamed the whole way down.

We made yummy s'mores one night in the fireplace. Delish!

Ella and Halle catching a ride on Brad.

Lunch with Grandma, Mom, and all my sisters--minus Lyndsie who was on her way to Texas!

On our last night in Utah, we went over to my sister Kim's house and played on their new Kinect. We thought it would be fun to watch my parents bowl. We were right. It was fun. My mom was really good, and my dad....tried really hard. All the nephews would chant"Strike! Strike! Strike!" for my mom and "Do your best!" "Do your best!" for my dad. It was great. It was pure madness with all my family in one room, but so much fun!

Dugway Christmas.

We were so excited to head out to Utah this year for Christmas. It had been 2 years since Brad had been back to Dugway and 1 1/2 years since Ella had seen most of her cousins. We could not contain our excitement for weeks before our trip. We flew into SLC to spend a week with Brad's mom in Dugway. We had SO MUCH FUN and were always on the go.

Ella was fantastic on the flight. She was so excited to be on the airplane.

Ella was also so excited for lots of snow. She enjoyed throwing snowballs, making a snowman and snow angels and even enjoyed shoveling the snow!

We had to make a stop by our fun cousins. Here is Brad and Steph. These two are goofy together.

Ella loved having Gracie to play with. They couldn't stop giggling together!

We sure wish we lived closer. These girls loved to play together.

Brad's all-time favorite mexican restaurant is the Red Iguana in SLC. It was a must that we stop and eat there. We were lucky to meet up with our great friends David and Erin. We miss them!

Next stop was Temple Square. It was beautiful as usual, even in the cold rain.

Grandma Sharon took us to see the Nutcracker. Ella loved the beautiful music and ballerinas. Our friend David, from the picture above, set us up with one of his classmates that works backstage with the ballerinas. During intermission, Ella and I got to go backstage and see all the costumes and watch the ballerinas practice. It was so neat. We were so grateful for the experience.

We also headed out to Heber for a ride on the Polar Express a.k.a the Heber Creeper. Ella was really looking forward to this. This was our first time on a train.

Brad and Ella before boarding the train.

Mrs. Clause stopped by for a quick photo. She was lovely.

Ella told Santa she wanted Hungry Hungry Hippos and Squinkies!

Opening presents at Grandma Sharon's. We got spoiled as usual. Ella was in heaven!

Brad and Ella made this snowman. Utah was having some weird weather. It would snow then rain then snow then rain. The poor snowman just kept tilting more and more the whole 2 1/2 weeks we were there!

December.

December is always an exciting month. And this one did not disappoint. We started things off with a hair-cut. I am partial to Ella's hair. It's hard for me to say goodbye to her long strands, but since she has only been getting a trim once a year she was definitely in need of one.

Before.

After.

December is also when we have to start doing more activities inside. Some friends invited us to "All About Kids" and we had a blast playing on all of the big blow up toys, slides, playhouses and giant foam pits!

Ella is a little bit terrified of the giant slides so she goes down backwards and spreads her legs out as far as she can to slow herself down. She always has a look of terror on her face on the way down, but it doesn't stop her from climbing back up and doing it again!

Jumping with bunny on the trampoline.

We also had a breakfast with Santa at our church. Ella is always a little skeptical of Santa and is never all that excited to sit on his lap.

This year was no different. She was NOT about to get too close. And I don't blame her. Have you ever noticed I am never the one taking Ella to see Santa??? I have a strange phobia of people in costume. It doesn't matter what they are: Santa, mascots, disney characters--I stay away from them all. Scary!

Brad showed her that it wasn't so bad.

I was excited to get a good picture...from a distance.

Fabulous 4 Year Old Photo Shoot

We have a great friend, Susan Lookhart, who is great at taking pictures and we had her snap a few of Ella. She did a great job. We love all of them!
