my love affair with this hairy creature started in 2007 when i went Shanghai Nantong for an audit job.....
WAHAHAHAHHA. yes its hairy crab that i loveeeeeeeeeeeee~~~ my audit client treated the audit team to tons of freeeee hairy crabsssss back thennnnnn ohohohohoho~~
my parents have not tasted hairy crabs before, so i bought Groupon $28/crab at Old Hong Kong Restaurant, Raffles City Shopping Centre.
Papa Chan struggling with the crab, i asked for the crabs to be "dismantled" before serving cuz my other family members have zero idea how to.
Fummie Chan's identity kept under wraps because he is underaged, and mainly because i have not spoken very well of him in this blog all along. wahahahahahhaha~
as usual, Papa Chan cannot take a good photo.....
take 1 - i wasnt ready yet.
take 2 - top of my head gone.
take 3 - much better but my crab is blurred. sigh. beggars cannot be choosers.
anyways, hairy crabs usually served 1st, before all other dishes. they are always steamed to preserve the natural sweetness, along with vinegar. but i usually eat it plain without any sauce.
this is what i love MOST about hairy crabs! the roe! omggggggggg yumsssssss! the little bits of flesh inside the crab is super sweet and yumsssssssssss too! okay ran out of adjectives. HAHA
though it was a great hassle to peel off the shells, totally worth the effort!
over-zealous Mama Chan also ordered a ton of other dishes, we were absolutely stuffed. the other dishes were okay, i prefer their dim sum though. Old Hong Kong is more famous for its dim sum, i think. bill came up to $272 in total. *broke*
oh, did i mention that this delicious dinner is to celebrate Mama Chan's 52th burfdae? keke Happie Burfdae, Mum! *hearts*
