my hairy love affair

my love affair with this hairy creature started in 2007 when i went Shanghai Nantong for an audit job.....

WAHAHAHAHHA. yes its hairy crab that i loveeeeeeeeeeeee~~~ my audit client treated the audit team to tons of freeeee hairy crabsssss back thennnnnn ohohohohoho~~

my parents have not tasted hairy crabs before, so i bought Groupon $28/crab at Old Hong Kong Restaurant, Raffles City Shopping Centre.

Papa Chan struggling with the crab, i asked for the crabs to be "dismantled" before serving cuz my other family members have zero idea how to.

Fummie Chan's identity kept under wraps because he is underaged, and mainly because i have not spoken very well of him in this blog all along. wahahahahahhaha~

as usual, Papa Chan cannot take a good photo.....

take 1 - i wasnt ready yet.

take 2 - top of my head gone.

take 3 - much better but my crab is blurred. sigh. beggars cannot be choosers.

anyways, hairy crabs usually served 1st, before all other dishes. they are always steamed to preserve the natural sweetness, along with vinegar. but i usually eat it plain without any sauce.

this is what i love MOST about hairy crabs! the roe! omggggggggg yumsssssss! the little bits of flesh inside the crab is super sweet and yumsssssssssss too! okay ran out of adjectives. HAHA

though it was a great hassle to peel off the shells, totally worth the effort!

over-zealous Mama Chan also ordered a ton of other dishes, we were absolutely stuffed. the other dishes were okay, i prefer their dim sum though. Old Hong Kong is more famous for its dim sum, i think. bill came up to $272 in total. *broke*

oh, did i mention that this delicious dinner is to celebrate Mama Chan's 52th burfdae? keke Happie Burfdae, Mum! *hearts*

juliet qian finally met her romeo!

kekekekeke *heart heart heart*

i swear i didnt go to the Citylink area on purpose! was already going there for my mum's burfdae dinner (next post), and thanks to Soot who showed me the 8days ad for this event, i just went there earlier to see my Romeo! hehe~

he was supposed to appear at 330, i was there at 340pm. really not much of a crowd, just like maybe 8-10 of his fan club members and other random public. i was front row even though i arrived 10min late. oh man, lidat how to win Top 10 Male Artiste this Star Awards??

Bobby Tonelli was there too! definitely a head-turner~

after just abit of waiting, my Romeo appeared! he had a short interview with Yasmine the DJ, telling the crowd that his dad named him after the car Alfa Romeo. and he was really short and fat when he was a kid, totally undeserving of the name. wahahaha

look how he turned out now! wahahaha really quite tall. i have issues with his outfit that day, no WOW factor, boringgggggggg. and its a super wrinkly weird khaki pants. but nevermind! i heart his persona nonetheless!

then he played Spot The Difference with the audience. no, i didnt volunteer to play the game wahahaha.

and its phototaking session!

my one shot and i looked FAT! fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

okay let me try and hide my fat areas:

HAHAHAHA. *HEARTS* LOL. he is literally tall, dark and handsome! keke~

apparently i have to donate $10 to charity for a photo opportunity with Romeo, but nobody collected the money from me and i dont know who to give it to, so i ended up leaving without paying. =__=  sorry my Romeo, i didnt mean to hurt u that way~~~~~

so happy i finally met my Romeo!! Terence is so not helpful..... WAHAHAHAHA.

learnt in AMS #6 - the finale

and of course the finale is about the RED LIGHT DISTRICT! keke~

1st stop of our Red Light District walking tour was a condomerie.

okay honestly i dont remember what the cutie tour guide said about the condomerie. maybe something like Amsterdam red light district practises safe sex so no prostitutes will not have sex with u without a condom.

condoms in all funky shapes and sizes! one in Statue of Liberty. hahaha i have zero idea how that can be used.

cutie without glasses and styled hair! SUPER CUTE RIGHT?? one bimbo thing i learnt in Amsterdam is that there are really alot of cute Germans around! LOLOLOLs.

anyways, he was telling us abt the funky genres of porn in Amsterdam, like granny porn???!!! eugh.

there was one porn shop there who had their poster signboard removed recently due to public outcry because the signboard was too provocative. but u are in the RED LIGHT DISTRICT, for crying out loud!

Oude Kerk (old church), ironically located in Red Light District. i vaguely remember hearing something like the prostitutes and customers will go to the church to remorse for their sins so "business" at the church was good, but please dont quote me on that haha.

anyways, prostitutes there run their own "sole proprietorship" business and they have to own licence for that, its to prevent sex trafficking/slavery. and i think licences are only issued to EU members so there are no Asian prostitutes there.

sexxxxxx showwwwwww. nope never go in, just passed by. apparently they perform some funky acts on the stage, probably like in Bangkok but more tasteful? donno.

i heard if u are too shy to attend the sex shows with the masses, there are small private booths there, u can put in afew euros to watch a less spectacular performance from a peekhole for a few minutes.

did u notice the window displays that the prostitutes will stand infront of to lure customers? right beside Moulin Rouge:

but those were not opened for business yet, curtains will open when the prostitutes start work. either not opened yet or all are "doing" customers hahahaha. we were warned that if the curtains are opened and u took a picture of the prostitutes, will get middle fingered or splashed with pee, so i didnt dare to try.

prostitutes there charge about EUR50-80 per session, and survey found that one "session" with the prostitutes took less than 10min. if u are rude to the prostitutes, they can sound an alarm and centralised security will come running after u! lols.

some of the prostitutes were really hot and pretty and good-figured, some were really cheap and slutty-looking, and some were simply not for the faint-hearted. there were transvestite prostitutes too but we didnt get to see them, and previously there were also male prostitutes! eye-opening huh?? hehe~

i have zero tweets but yet i have 6 total strangers following me, twitter is a weird worldddddd lols. dont intend to tweet too actually, only downloaded it for the sake of him!!

oh my Romeo~~~~~~~~~ *heart heart heart*

this is YET ANOTHER hint to Terence Low.................. shit, i forgot Terence's full name! lolols.

my Romeo tweets funny stuffs! keke awww~~

and now on/off i will catch him on his new channel8 show, #ittakestwo (i know hashtags now okay! LOL)

also am watching this on xinmsn! wahahahaha total Romeo fan! the super blatant windows 8 ad placements in the short drama turned me off bad though.

ah Romeo, Romeo~~~~

learnt in AMS #5 - coffee shops

coffee shops in Amsterdam dont really sell coffee, they sell marijuana. shops that sell coffee are known as cafes, i think.

somehow i didnt take a photo of any coffee shops there, ripped a photo of a one prominent coffee shop off Google:

this one with an ironic name is located in red light district, if i remember correctly.

i do have one of cannabis ice cream though:

according to cutie tour guide, marijuana is still illegal in Amsterdam, however, it is decriminalised. which kind of means that as long as u are not too blatant about it, u wont be prosecuted.

and apparently, people who smoked weed do not get aggressive, they get "happy" and sluggish, so it is not as detrimental as hard drugs. whatever that means. haha.

if u are wondering, i didnt try any. lols. but the smell was really distinct once u walk past, it is a funny smell different from cigarettes. interesting city!

romantic date for 3

Da Paolo Ristorante @ Chip Bee Gardens - my current favourite ristorante!

Cod for Ray the burfdae boy, really fresh and succulent!

some lobster-ish risotto for Sissy. not bad, not overly creamy and the lobster is sweet~

apparently im not supposed to let Dydy know that we visited this restaurant because he is supposed to bring Dydy there but he never did, and he ended up visiting with us instead. so this post shall serve as a blackmailer against him - dont ever piss me off, Sissy!! MUAHAHAHAHA.

my gnocchi in mushroom sauce! Ray said he never like gnocchis until he tried this! yums!

oh and did i mention that the ambience in this restaurant is really romantic? haha warm lights, quiet serene place, and is quite atas. slightly more expensive but totally worth it! i would highly recommend this ristorante for dates! haha~

Daily Scoopz for dessert, afew shops down from Da Paolo. okay boring colours but it really was a wonderful way to end off the splendid dinner!

Ray's vanilla and kahlua. seriously i swear Ray pointed to the white ball and said "kahlua and vanilla, *points to white ball* this is vanilla"

i can totally tell which is vanilla, Ray. LOLOL~

Sissy is boring as ever, only eats chocolate ice creams....

and im as exotic as ever, lychee and coconut. hahahaha. the coconut one is veriiiiiii yums! aww feel like going back there again! lets go again when Lulu is back??

learnt in AMS #4 - narrow houses

once u start to walk about in Amsterdam, u will realise that houses there are super narrow.

according to my super cute and super blond German tour guide above (KEKEKE), Amsterdam houses are as narrow as can be because taxes used to be imposed based on how wide your house is! naturally everyone build their house as narrow as possible!

so doors cant fit large furniture and thus they ingenuously installed pulleys/hooks on e top of their houses to do heavy lifting! how cool is that~~

can u see the hooks on top of each and every houses? one hook per house....

there they are! cool huh? i didnt notice the pulleys until the cutie mentioned though. ahehehehe~

learnt in AMS #3 - cars dont kill u

but bicycles do!

there are more bicycles than cars roaming in Amsterdam, bicycles travel at higher speeds than cars, and they have no regard for pedestrians.

for the 1st 5min i was bit impressed by their environmental-friendliness, but after that it just gets annoying, really.

and apparently they spend alot of money pulling out thousands of bicycles from the canals of Amsterdam every year, all thrown in fit of anger/revenge/fun or just by accident.

and there are signs on shops/streets that says no to bicycles! lols okay to be honest i only realised those signs after i came back and looked through the photos.

can you spot Rong's reflection off the window display of a bow shop? keke~

so people, watch out for bicycles in Amsterdam!

what an eventful and fun day!

it was pouring right before we board the yacht, but super luckily the rain stopped right before we set off and remained rather rainless throughout the whole 4-hr yacht trip!

the sail out gang! hehe.

love this photo alot! so drama poster-ish! the captain took this for us, he owns 3 yacht in total (2 for rent, 1 for personal use) and this yacht is $0.5mil cash upfront okayyyy!

lastly, my sail out nails, proudly and pro-ly done by myself:

ohohohohoho~

yacht trip - checked! though i had to pay for it myself instead of getting it free.....

learnt in AMS #2 - pannekoken

found this famous Pancakes! house featured on the TripAdvisor while roaming in Aamsterdaam:

its a cosy little cafe *hearts*

with a whole variety of pancakes at affordable prices!

actually i wanted to try the Dutch pancakes, but i chose the least adventurous of all:

raisin and apple. wahahaha. i didnt really like it though, wayyyy too sweet and too floury.

Rong ordered an even unadventurous type of pancakes: American. wahahahaha faints. hers was even  sweeter.

the real Dutch pancakes actually look like this:

comes in sweet and savoury versions, just like the usual crepes we have in Singapore. think i prefer good olde crepes though.
