1) Maarten van der Weijden fought cancer after Sydney 2000 n came back to Olympics @ Beijing 2008 to claim gold in 10km marathon swim.

2) Natalie du Toit lost half her leg in a scooter accident in 2001, n resumed swimming training 3mths after e accident. e 1st female amputee to participate in Olympics, she was ranked 16th in e 10km marathon finals, amongst able-bodied competitors.

they look damn gd tog. n the best thing is they kept winning medals tog, 1st n 2nd, thus beautifying e medal ceremony (to make up for e ordinary-looking chinese gymnasts).

they've got e looks n skills, n they'r damn young (18 n 16 respectively), so i guess it highly likely they'll turn to showbiz. most likely to become e nx britney spears, be careful~

i've been so engrossed in watching e olympics lately, it's uncontrollable!

080808: Opening Ceremony

i taped it down, but my tape went bonkers, so i oni get to watch e 1st half of e ceremony n e ending part where Li Ning ran one freaking round to light up e torch.

my old man gushed so much abt how awesome e opening ceremony is, but im quite indifferent abt it. any ctry with tat much population n wealth can do it lorz.

Gymnastics

even tho im not realli sure how they judge whether a routine is excellent, it's juz damn enjoyable to watch those gymnastics put up those beautiful stunts. all eyes glued to tv lorz.

watched e Korean male gymnasts fall frm e rings a couple of times. poor things, tat image is gg to get repeated over n over again on tv. some of em quite cute de wor~

Michael Phelps is damn gross, he gets gold in EVERY single event n breaks WR along e way. pls do his doping tests with extra caution.

Pieter van den Hoogenband, my favourite hero at Sydney Olympics, losts 100m freestyle, his best item. he used to compete alongside Ian Thorpe & e great Alexander Popov, but now he's just a mere 5th in e race.

oh oh! my new fav swimmer, Kosuke Kitajima! he's like much shorter than e average caucasian swimmers (178 vs 190+m), but he still wins! omg so li hai!

Starhub Digital vs Channel 5

i've always been resistant towards chging from analog to Digital Cable, cuz of e hassle blahblah~

UNTIL! Channel 5 do away with e showing of e 200m breaststroke finals (kitajima!) n started showing their lousy sitcom! argh! chged to Digital e next day. stupid Channel 5!

btw! i realised i can stream live olympics frm HD5 at client's place, n have been streaming since wed. a small window at e bottom of my screen, peeking at it occasionally while working. hee~

Basketball

i agree with Lulu tat it's sooo exhilarating to watch USA play! they'r like a circus performing stunts instead of playing bball lorz. phenomenal!

Lebron James is fantastic lahz, i tink he seems 2b better than Kobe Bryant. had a hard time recognising em at first, cuz e whole Dream Team somehow look e same. haha~

hope Dream Team meets a worthy opponent real soon, it's getting boring to keep seeing em thrash all others.

Cycling

i din exactly watch e race, juz caught snippets of it. but i tot it'll be a fantastic experience to have a cycling race thru all e historical monuments n all.

Table Tennis

my snr was so excited abt Sg winning at least a silver medal on Fri, even tho she's juz watching e scores on e website n not e live streaming (HD5 was showing weightlifting instead, duhz)....

me: so excited for wat, they'r not Singaporeans.

me: nurturing is possible anywhere with money. i tink it's 50% talent (which is not Singaporean) and 50% money (which is ours), so u shd only be 50% proud.
