but i AM super overwhelmed by e bloody work & travel. there's juz sooo much to plan n arrange lahz! me ting n dar decided to chg to land at JFK instead of newark airport cuz we wanna take thai air.

int'l airlines landing @JFK: thai air, korean air, JAL, northwest, SIA.
int'l airlines landing @newark: eva, SIA, northwest

eva air is juz sucky in our opinion, n SIA n northwest are juz too ex for us to afford. thus we chged our plans to take thai air n land at JFK instead.

we all prefer thai air's aircrafts cuz it's new n supposedly more comfy n there's personal inflight entertainment for everybody! e disadvantages are tat thai air is more ex than eva n JFK is further than newark frm our destination, wildwood.

we gotta take a bus frm JFK to wildwood on our own. bloody speedwing (they finally answered my phonecall) told me tat bus ride will take 8hrs frm JFK to wildwood, but it'll oni be a 2+hrs bus ride frm newark to wildwood. wtf. thai airways better be worth e much longer bus ride n dearer air tix man.

eh but frm e map, JFK don seem taT much further frm wildwood lehz... mayb trashy speedwing made a mistake. they suck. hehz~

we were irritated by tat bus tat we'r supposed to take too. e bus schedule is simply not user-friendly.

tell me, isit cuz girls realli suck at reading schedules or wat? argh~

plus e 3 of us needa go check out travel guides to roughly see where we wanna visit, prepare our luggages, fill tons of admin forms, go for some bloody compulsory orientation at TOA PAYOH (!!!), blahblahblah. n e fact we have a money-sucking agent who alwayz don pick up phonecalls doesnt help. hehz~

after long periods of hibernating at home on wkends, i finally had an all wkend out!

sat: mj session at sissy's hse

after 'consistently' losing $$ at e last few mj sessions, i finally emerged as e biggest winner! muahahaha~

e guyz suck in mj lahz, whenever me n lulu play with em we cfm win de. no kick lehz... can u guyz go n brush up ur mj skills anot... LoL~

there was tis round where horse threw a card which nobody in their right mind will throw, n allowed me to game. so he had to pay $6.40 on behalf of everybody. tat resulted in me winning $14+ when we were juz playing 10, 20 cents. wahahaha~

we ordered e mediterranean feast as dinner cuz i tot e starry munchies looked cute, but it turned out 2b juz star-shaped hash browns tat were pretty oily. oso tried e spanish seafood pizza n din realli like it.

sun: shopping with yul

havent met up with yul since ages man. e ironic thing is tat i knew mz n lam thru yul, but i meet n tok to mz n lam more often than yul lorz.

anywayz... yul juz came back frm taiwan, n she bought me kanebo mascara frm xi men ding!

i suggested having pepper lunch for lunch, cuz mz said it's nice. i tried e curry beef rice n yul tried e cut steak. nth special lehz, besides e fry-it-urself concept. taste was alright oni, beef was pleasantly tender tho.

after lunching n some catching up, we went on a shopping spree!!!

my gosh, i juz LOVE tat guess wallet!!! sooooo prettyyyyyyyyy lahz!!! i like i like!! it's alwayz a go-gaga session whenever i step into a guess outlet man, their wallets n bags n watches are all sooooooo remarkably nice lahz!!!~

went koolook to check out their sunnies, mite wanna buy one to block e american sun.

i tell u, branded realli is branded lorz. their sunnies are nice, n wats nicer is e brands' imprints on e sunnies.

imagine paying $300+ cuz of e imprints... but they'r nice lorz. esp e dior one, super bling n super chio!! pity im not filthy rich... hehz~

lam was complaining to me tat she cant slp in on recent saturdays. waking her up is tis...

e cacophony of JWSS band, who trains regularly at e field beside lam's hse on recent saturdays.

no, im not cohabiting with lam. i juz happen to live in e block nx to hers. hahaha~

anywayz... i said it's cacophony cuz it's not veri pleasant to e ears. tink tats cuz e band is new (cuz i've moved here for 5yrs n tis is e 1st yr im hearing their military band) n thus not veri adept at playing symphonised military band music.

i got bored awhile after watching em rehearse their thing thru my window, it wasnt a military band performance exciting enough to interest me. music not there, neat marching non-existent, donno wat their formation represents...

guess e reason why im so critical when it comes to tis is bcuz i was from a sec sch which has an excellent military band...

e Bukit Panjang - Teck Whye Band is a frequent winner at SYF band competitions, alwayz glorifying my sch (bukit panjang govt high, not teck whye -_- ) with their exceptional achievements.

after watching e BT band perform a few times, at SYF band competitions n national day parades, i tink they'r realli pretty gd. their performances nv failed to captivate me, veri enjoyable.

n in my probably biased opinion, JWSS band still has a long way to go...

of cuz BT band wins in all aspects! haha~

see e BT band guy in total white? e guy with e baton/stick/wand?? i forgot wat he's addressed as... captain or leader? ahh wateveR. my pt is tat everytime e gals will be swooning over him cuz tat guy will look cool with e white uniform n doing his acrobatic throwing tricks with e baton/stick/wand. hehe~

but horz, BT band was disbanded in 2003. n after bukit panjang military band became independent, they din win as much accolades as last time. sigh~

aiya, if e strong bands don go their separate ways, newbie bands like JWSS wun have chance to shine oso mahz, rite... haha~

stime ago i watched e victoria's secret fashion show on channel 5 n it was absolutely fantastic. it was so fantabulous tat me n my dad cant keep our jaws shut throughout e 1hr show. haha~

e models were (n still are) ravishingly gorgeous, great bods, great faces, great hair/s (?) n great outfits (or e lack of). tat is bcuz they engaged top supermodels like...

my dad was taken aback when i told him tyra banks won e 1st America's Nx Top Model, cuz he tinks she's not pretty n is kinda fat for a model. i juz wondered why VS used a model with such huge boobs. her bras were humongous lahz, not a pretty sight on e runway...

anywayz... e show was veri excitingly planned, with e right music playing at e right time n they've got stage layout/design done up excellently.

ricky martin crooned a latin number, with lotsa underwear-clad dancers rubbing against him as he sang. but he added on to e VS appeal nonetheless, cuz, oh com'on, juz admit tat he's hawT too. hehe~

heidi klum's husband, seal, oso sang a song in e show. he's e black guy with sth on his face. cant be bothered to look up on him (since e focus here is on e chiobus), but im guessing tat he was being disfigured or wat lahz.

they r like beauty n e beast lorz. but they look sweet together n seal sings well, so i shall give em a break. haha~

adore e themes in e fashion show too. veri nice!!

i hate visiting my ah ma in SGH. i hate seeing her lying on e sterile hospital bed looking all frail n weak. i hate tat she's feeling nauseous cuz of e anaesthetics.

i hate tat half e family was crowding around her bed cuz she juz had an operation. i hate tat everybody's tokin her when she's supposed to abstain frm toking to alleviate e post-operation high blood pressure. n i hate tat i cant figure out how to off e lights at her bed so tat she can rest well.

equally unbearable to me are e sights of patients with tubes n bandages, of patients looking pained n lost, of nurses with expressions tat resemble tat of queen of spades, of family members looking as worried as yusof ishak on a S$10 note, n of bloody rascals asking nurses how to switch e tv in e dayroom for patients to channel 8.

e whole SGH compound juz make me feel so gloomy n depressed.

hypothesis development

at 1st i wondered if e above was juz an isolated case, then i recalled numerous other occasions when i felt e same way. n they mostly took place in government hospitals. tis led me to generalise n obtained e following hypothesis...

H0: Government-linked hospitals are gloomier than private hospitals.

methodology

all my notable visits to hospitals are included in e sample events. tho e sample might not be representative of the whole population n may not be accurately extrapolated to other situations, but i don give a hoot. haha~

every sample event is rated on e royal gloom index (invented by yours truly), where:
0 = zero gloom
10 = ultimate gloom

e degree of gloom constitutes a few elements, namely:
1. amt of pain suffered (emotional & physical)
2. no. of hospitalised days a.k.a. time taken to recover

results

since gpte is smaller than ggov, H0 is accepted. gov-linked hospitals are indeed gloomier than pte hospitals.

conclusion

possible reasons for e above results:
1. pte hospitals mostly attend to A class patients, n A class rooms have doors tat are alwayz closed, so i cant see e other patients n their sufferings.
2. all e ppl around me tat needs 2b hospitalised for high gloom index reasons juz happen 2b not affluent enough to admit into pte hosp.

so... prep yourself b4 visiting a gov-linked hosp, lest e gloomy atmosphere catches u off-guard.

despite hoping tat i wun hafta visit hospitals for high gloom index events anymore, im still gonna visit my ah ma in u-noe-where now.

(yes e applied reseach proj part is full of bullshit, but if u see thru e bullshit u'll find tat parts of it are sincerely true.)

atrocious english in harvard

i donno if drama reflects reality, but i certainly hope not.

e characters in love story in harvard are supposed to be harvard undergrads, but their english suck. seriously, those koreans speak atrocious english. i mean, harvard undergards are supposed 2b crème de la crème rite? so their english cant be any worse even if they'r asians rite??

n even tho e scriptwriter noe e actors n actresses cant speak english for nuts, they still put in long strings of english for em to recite. my goodness.

e oni korean who speaks gd english in e serial plays a mere supporting role.

but she's pretty, n has an MBA from harvard in real life. ahhh... speaking of brains n beauty.

e female protagonist is prettier tho, realli realli pretty!

e law debates are interesting (but u hafta read e subtitles to understand wat they'r blabbering abt), n it's heart-wrenching to feel e inexhaustible love e protagonists have for each other. nv failing to amaze me is how e romantic protagonists can love each other soooo strongly.

BUT! why muz one of e star-crossed lovers alwayz contract some terminal illness?? tats soooo typical! time to acquire some new ideas already!

i used to find kim rae won pretty gd-looking in my little bride, but he's not as good-looking in love story in harvard...

in fact, i find e supporting actor better looking.

im abit overwhelmed after reading e travel guides... bloody uncle sam is vast man, realli vast.

distance is gonna be a huge problem. we can walk, but we'll probably die if we were to walk to every single place. we can take bus, but heard tat their buses come every hr (!!!). e subway is another option, but e stations are alwayz a distance away frm e intended destination. how how how... haiz~

visited EVA Air's website n found out tat all e carriers i'll be taking are old carriers, with no personal inflight entertainment n e seats are (almost) cushion-less with little legroom. haiz haiz~
