NIS 2006 finale

(recent posts will be dedicated to THE beloved club.)

it was quite a success. difficulties were handled well, n there wasnt any major crisis. i hate to admit defeat, but last yr i faced crises NIS 2006 nv did face. then again, dey avoided those crises cuz i gave NIS 2006 advice based on my experience last yr mahz... hehe~

tis yr NTU was nowhere in contention for e challenge shield man, cuz we have 2 good shooters n 1 underperforming shooter in aLL our teams. room for improvement...

SAFRA & HomeTeam are oso nowhere in contention for e challenge shield, to our surprise. NJC won e challenge shield, with HCI trailing closely behind.

HCI has vv strong rifle male shooters, all of whom can hit above 97% accuracy. n NJC won medals in every single event. how to fight with em sia... nvm, nx yr, nx yr.



also horz... tis yr e bus uncles are being super obnoxious as usual, n ditto for e VIP who attained e 'Dr.' title. wth is wrong with these ppl?? (notice e irony: dey'r frm 2 rather extreme ends of e social hierarchy, but yet they share such blatantly repulsive similarity. hehz~)

me: cuz ahz... last yr we nv pay em, but tis yr e sch offered to pay em.

mr lee: (to mr tiew) wah... see, my ex-student is so smart to tink of tis!

me: so do u need me 2b present on e last day of NIS?
calvinnnn: at least be present for e 2nd half of e day lahz
me: but for wat sia? all i do is bum around n play poker.
calvinnnn: no wat... u need to act as my safety net, to provide assurance.
me: huh... how is playing poker a form a assurance? haha~
calvinnnn: by playing poker u'r sending a strong signal to others, u noe. e signal is tat u'r veri assured tat im executing NIS well, tats why u'r relaxed enough to play poker mahz...

i heard alotta sec sch & jc female participants were swooned by tis yr's NIS chairperson. guess calvinnnn will be v effective in attracting girls to enrol into NTU ARC huh. wahahaha~

juz realised tat ingrate din thank me in his thank-u speech, n took zilch photos with me during NIS. baH~

NIS 2006 part 1

end of day 1. it was not as bad as i thought it wld be.

e bad

1) e subcommers scratched e bus when loading logistics. sorry, uncle!

2) subcommers are rather slack. they'r mostly frm my "fav" ctry n they'r best at using "eye power". but oh well, i did try to ask calvinnnn to get frens as subcommers. (there'r times when nepotism works better too)

3) some of e detail 1's target cards are wrong. rifle cards were given to pistol shooters.

4) majority of subcommers & main commers have no shooting backgrd n hafta learn everything frm scratch.

5) detail 4 is too much of a chapalang detail. lanes are oso not arranged properly, e rifle & pistol participants are not separated nicely n there's a male participant right smack in e middle of e female participants.

e good

1) scoring machines did not break down n scores r mostly correct.

2) there's less chaos as compared to last yr, tis yr's NIS committee members are calm-er than last yr's. but tat mite be cuz there's not much hiccups so far oso lahz.

3) received help frm lotsa helpful kinda souls, eg. coach kasmijan & siti, mr eddie lim, etc.

4) welfare of e committee members much better taken care of. e welfare officer bought beehoon & iced milo for every helper. but i had to drink 2 packets of iced milo cuz i asked mr lee to buy for me without knowing that e welfare officer oso bought iced milo for me. hehz~

5) no angry participants or teachers-in-charge. phew~

6) e NIS main commers managed to get some slp e nite b4. last yr's main commers were so nervous most of em cant slp e nite b4.

so tired... i woke up at 645am tis morning n juz reached home at 7pm man. but i had fun slacking around e safra yishun range with my main commers. it's e 1st time tat me n my main commers can slack during a club event. e bond among my main commers is realli gd i muz say.

(note: my main comm is different frm e NIS main comm. e ppl in my main comm is different frm e ppl in e NIS main comm. separate entity but all belong to e same legal parent. haha~)

i hope NIS 2006 will end on a happy note tmr! aza aza fighting!

finally watched my 1st R21 film in e theatres! n they din even check my ic lehz... i look so old mehz... hehz~

anywayz... these are my tots after watching e show...

1) it's not as boring as ppl have told me lorz. i don understand why most guyz said bbm is boring. how can guyz be bored when there's boobs baring scenes?? haha~

2) finally understood e reason behind my fetish for gay films... e gay protagonists are alwayz cute!! jake is damnnnnn cute can?!

4) was pretty disappointed by e humping scene tho. it's a lil too abrupt.

if i were male i'll be freaked by e notion tat my colleague will suddenly crave 2b humped in e middle of e nite. wahahaha~

5) heath n jake muz have been cowboys in their previous lives. they look damn gd with e cowboy look.

7) ting likes e scenary in e film, tho to me it's juz...

8) wonders if all yankees mumble in e 60s. thank goodness for subtitles!

love is in e... neighbourhood?

it seems tat valentine's day is a gd day for ppl to get attached. heard tat lotsa fresh couples "emerged" after vday last wk.

it also seems tat ppl are getting attached to their neighbours. yester's was e 2nd pair tat i've heard, but i bet there's more out there.

mayb i shd keep a lookout for potential full time boyfriends in my neighbourhood too.


singletons hate it when everybody around em is attached. baH~

but still...

all hail e prez

i juz finished awarding merit pts to all significant members in e club. about 45 ppl in total.

one point's difference can determine whether a person gets a hostel room of his/her choice, if any room at all.

i feel powerful.

i heart homo movies

i was instantaneously excited abt watching brokeback mountain after reading its sypnosis. i guess e reasons for my excitement are:

30% - e leads are hollywood cutepies heath ledger & jake gyllenhaal
70% - it has high homosexual content

cant rem when exactly did my fetish for films with homosexual content begin, but i remembered it's cuz of tis hk show called bishonen. recounting e homosexual films tat i've watched...

1) 美少年之恋 Bishonen

lulu bought e vcd frm either hk or taiwan n lent e vcd to me (cuz u noe, daniel wu has been my no.1 heart-throb since forever).

daniel wu n stephen fung looked gorgeous in bishonen. however, tats abt all tat i can rem abt da show now. haha~

2) 17岁的天空 Formula 17

then... lulu bought e dvd frm taiwan n circulated it among us oso.

formula 17 is not as nice. it's juz a typical romantic story, except tat e protagonists are gays. e leads are not as gorgeous either, not in my opinion. but e pt is tat e show is also homosexually-powered.

3) 蓝色大门 Blue Gate Crossing

cant recall e plot, but i tink e it's abt tis love triangle between 1 guy n 2 girls, with lesbian love between e 2 girls. conclusion frm e blue gate is tat 桂綸美 is an exotic beauty.

lulu did not lend me e above dvd/vcd tho she do have it. but anywayz, she is known as our official supplier of homosexual films. haha~

coming up... my 4th homosexual movie!~

wahahahaha~ so looking forward to it! so far qing said it's pretty gd but ray said it's boring. i shall see for myself.

bak gua pork floss porridge!

e lazy me do not wish to go out n dabao lunch todae, so i scoured my hse for sth tat i cld settle as lunch.

i found some bak gua leftover frm cny & some pork floss. then i remembered tis dish tat my ah ma whipped up for me before...

1) wash rice with water twice. fill water to e brim of the bowl/pot/wateva n let e rice soak for 10min to prevent it frm sticking to e bowl/pot/wateva when boiling.

2) boil e soaked rice for abt 15min, stirring occasionally.

3) while e porridge is boiling, shred bak gua n get e pork floss & soya sauce ready.

4) test if e porridge's texture is to your liking, then turn off e stove. (duhz~)

5) add in bak gua & pork floss, together with 4/5 tablespoon of soya sauce.

tadah!~ yummy bak gua pork floss porridge as lunch! =)

tis dish is entirely innovated by my ah ma, to cajole picky kids (like me) to finish their food. aint she super creative?? haha~

life

a close fren received a bouquet of flowers frm a mister yesterday. but even tho she finds e flowers extremely lovely, she is realli unable to reciprocate e nice guy for that sweet gesture.

well... i guess tats life.

we are going down

true enough, today was spent entirely on the completion of my political econs report.

after completing e report, a feeling of despair came over me. cuz from all the info i've gathered for my report, it can be inferred that we have a bleak future ahead of us.

with China being a major challenger to Singapore and everything, it's as though we have one foot in the grave already.

give e communists another ten more years and we will probably have both our feet in the grave.

when tat day arrives, Malaysia would probably be more than delirious to attend our funeral.

a shot of tranquilizer is needed every fri, to sedate my raging nerves.

cuz every fri, i have to attend AB312 - Political Economy of East Asia lecture.

and every lecture, the professors never fail to attack me with an onslaught of praises for china...

and e list goes on with no intention to cease.

im guessing tat i'll needa spend e whole of tmr churning out my part of e political econs report. n in e report i would need to continually mention china's greatness.

fav holiday?

despite so looking forward to it, tis chinese new year is not an impressive one for me.

i nv go to any frens' house to bai nian (nearly went to ryan's hse tho) n no frens' came to my house to bai nian (cuz mc has to rush her lab report).

as for those who came to my house to bai nian n those whose house i went to bai nian, i barely knew how they r related to me. every yr, i ask my dad how those relatives are related to me, n every yr i will forget how they are related to me.

ang pows shrank too, for mysterious reasons. e economy is not in a recession, there is no hyper-deflation, n there's no such thing as rising fed rates in sg (tho sg is affected by it), but ang pow $$ nevertheless shrank. hmm~

e im-being-$$-faced issue aside, stimes i realli wonder why rich ppl put so little $$ in e ang pows they give kids. i mean... if u can afford to hire a HK actor (albeit not a super popular one) to endorse ur own label, im sure u can give abit more 压岁钱 to ur wife's niece rite?? haha~

on a related note, i had a small conversation with my relatives on chu yi...

tats google's key tenet.

after being tremendously impressed by google at e end of a case study tat i did on google for my strategic mgmt class, im now increasing my patronage of google (as a user) n advocating google to all my frens (google mainly advertises thru word of mouth). hehe~

e various things google impressed me with:

1) no info on search users is collected. some search engines collect info on their search users n sell those info to advertisers.

2) paid search results are not interspersed with nonpaid search results. google's superior search technology, PageRank™, will make sure tat e most relevant search results are displayed 1st, regardless of whether those results are paid.

3) hate pop-up ads? use google.

4) small advertisers can sign up with google for a $5 fee n there'r no minimum advertising expenditures required.

5) ads are allocated based on a bidding system. but e advertiser with e highest bid can lower their bid price if tat bid is significantly higher than e 2nd highest bid. i tink mercenary profit maximisers will nv allow tat rite..

6) for its IPO, google conducted a dutch auction. under e typical IPOs, brokers usually oni favour e big buyers, but dutch auctions allowed every potential investor (regardless of size) to place bids for shares.

7) google's shares once soared 95% within 2mths. how i wish im one of those early google investors!

8) page & brin's brilliance. e google founders put together a network of low-cost computers whose performance equalled tat of a supercomputer.

9) "googlers" are spontaneous, fun n chic. they are entitled to free meals, to bring their pets to work, unlimited servings of m&ms, on-site physician n dental care, on-site dry cleaning services, blahblahblah.

horrible nightmare

yester i dreamt tat NIS 2006 is a total flop!

NTU N(ational) I(nvitational) S(hoot) is biggest event in NTU ARC's agenda. countless shooters frm local schools n institutions yearn to compete in e annual NIS, but even after extending e usually 1-day event to a 2-day event, NIS still has to reject a number of shooting enthusiasts who signed up late.

with a total of 8 events, there are some 40+ medals to be won by e sharpest shooters among e 260+ NIS participants. due to e extensive manpower n effort required for e event, a special proj committee of 20+ members had been set up to organise NIS.

needless to say, tat committee has huge duties n responsibilities towards e successful execution of NIS. but in my dream....

1) alot of e key committee members are MIA on e day of e event! even calvinnnn (tis yr's chairperson) n tanny (co-chair) are MIA!

2) e level of participation frm e schools is extremely low! many lanes are empty, n there are oni a few spectators!

3) sub-standard participants! there's even a fella who dont even know how to load e weapon!

4) scoring is in a mess! n it's e most vital part of e event!

omg omg omg~~

ultimate nightmare.

i told calvinnnn abt tis dream, n he nicely n safely reassured me tat tis dream wld nv come true. *relieved*

as calvinnnn's favourite (and e oni) "minister mentor" wif regards to all NIS matters, im oso partly responsible for its smooth execution. i muz make sure NIS 2006 is a great success!

so frm now on, i shall ans calvinnnn's call n reply to calvinnnn's sms more promptly. hehe~
