December

I have been horrible at blogging lately... so while I promise I will update soon, here are some of my favorite photos as of late:

Katie and I in the Christmas clothes fashion show.

Another photo. (Mom you're welcome for not posting the photo of you in your robe :D)

My favorite activity: Sledding behind the truck-and it doesn't hurt when your sledding buddy is Handsome Rob. Anticipate more photos to follow. (Of sledding...not of Rob)

The highlight of my was seeing this pretty little lady. She made a surprise visit from Texas. I am still her favorite... in case you were wondering.

I love Hallmark Christmas movies. I get incredibly giddy. I know real life doesn't happen like that-but I love them. The downside is I have to remind myself that Santa only lives in the hearts of children (and Hallmark Christmas movie loving girls like me) and not in reality.

I honestly forget. Or at least want to believe in that magic.

Thankful for these things

Lets talk about all of the things I loved about this last week.

Christmas tree hunting
Play Dough sculpture contest
Being home for longer than 24 hours
Riding horses with my dad
The sunset
Family time

Most of all I loved seeing this kid: 2 years was too long.

Paragliding on a Saturday morning

Yeah, this really just happened!

Some friends and I went to the Point of the Mountain this morning.
It was a brisk 35 degrees outside when I left.

Luckily it warmed up a little. I met Chris-my instructor. My brother told me not to get strapped to another person unless he was good looking. This guy was close enough :)

This is post flight. He was pretty awesome-so I let him stand in a picture with me :)

Can you tell what we thought about our time in the sky?

I'll tell you what was rad... it was the part where he let me take the controls. I was the one operating this non-motorized aircraft. I loved it!

Seriously. It was soooo cool!

Here is the whole crew. I am pretty sure another adventure is forthcoming.

Oh blast

I just discovered I didn't post at all in September. The funny thing is I kept looking at my blog, like I thought it would change without some work on my part. (Come to think of it, I think I approach my love handles with the same misguided view.)

Today I was talking to my niece. (It is her birthday) This exchange cracked me up!

A: Are you coming to my party?
Me: Of course. I'll be there.
A: Oh good. I'll make sure you're on 'the list'

What? 5 year old's birthday partys have lists? Glad I made the cut.

Also, today I received my very own YouTube tube socks. I am thrilled with them.

My life's been a country song

Sometimes, when I am making choices I think to myself, "Would this fit into a sad country song?"

If it does, I don't do it...

Oh good. I was wondering what these were...

20/20

You know, sometimes I should think before I speak. But sometimes, even if I thought about it I am not sure it would make a difference, I would still be awkward/insensitive/whatever...

Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl (who happens to be my sister) and her friend who she had absolutely no romantic interest in. He had a fatty crush on her most of his dating life. She is married now (otherwise he would probably still be in love with her). Let's call him Charley.

Two or three weeks ago I was at a ward function. A new girl in the ward and I were talking. I told her I was from Vernal. (I know, I know, technically I am not, but it is a lot easier to stick with that.) She asked if I knew Charley. I guess he was in her old ward in Logan. I said I knew him and that we were friends in high school. For some reason I also felt it was necessary to tell her how he had been in love with my sister for all of those years. I laughed and passed it off.

Today Charley shows up (visiting) in my ward. I haven't seen him in years, but I gave him a hug and invited him to come sit by me. We chat a little and I told him that there was someone in the ward that had just told me she knew him. He pointed to a girl a couple rows ahead, and calling her by name asked if she was the one. (yes) At the end of the meeting, she came up to him they embraced, he was wearing the tie she gave him. They began chatting it up.

At that point I awkwardly left.

Uhhh... remember how I told her all about how he cared for my sister? And how at that moment I realized she probably had feelings for him?

Yeah...

Random Funnies

I was visiting teaching the other day. I was fingering my necklace, and Sally* asked if I like beads. (Sure, I guess I do? I like necklaces...)

"Yeah."
"Follow me"

I love field trips. Next thing I know we are tromping across her back yard. She walks over to the garden and pulls up a few plants.

Oh. Beets.

----------------

I had an old guy named Ceaser hit on me in WinCo a couple months ago. (I was going to link to the blog post I was going to write about this. Only then I discovered I never wrote one, so here is the Readers' Digest version: He coerced me into drinking some of the carrot juice he was purchasing and wants to take me on a motorcycle ride.

Picture him 15 years after this photo was taken

Anyway, he gave me his business card so I could find him. I am keeping it in my wallet. Just in case.

Point of that trip down memory lane: Today a random fella that is 10-15 years older than me invited me to go to Phoenix with him in November. He gave me his card. He told me not to text that number and went to find a pen so he could give me his REAL cell #. Is giving out your business card an effective way of picking up dates? Maybe I should try it...

I think I will keep that card in my wallet too.

I seriously love slip n slides.

We had an awesome slide this weekend! When I suggested it to one of the Kathryn's kiddos he just looked at me like I was suggesting he play with dolls or go to preschool.  I told him it was going to be awesome. Grandma (aka Mom) backed me up and told him we would do it like the college kids do it. Well... we don't have a hill. Okay we do, but not one that isn't covered in sage brush....

After we barbecued (and I showered because it was looking stormy) we set up:

I think they liked it. Actually, I know they did.
We had a 50' slide, a boogie board and a whole bottle of dish soap. Sweeet!

What a beautiful day for a slip n' slide.

I am wearing my slip n' slide pants.
(Yep, I bought them specifically for this-after the "incident" of 2011)

Natalie was so cute on the slide. She is little, but she already knows how cool they are.

Here is the crew. I seriously love Caleb's face in this. *Yes, it is perfectly normal to have a tractor parked in your yard...

We all hung outside on the lawn and talked for a while after this. It was one of the best days I have spent in Tridell in a really long time. I loved it. Thanks everyone that came over to hang out.

This slide is from about a month ago with my ward. I loved this!
(Also I really love two things about this movie: 1) Jordan crashing while sliding on his feet. 2) at the end when someone says "wow! she is slick, we should ride on her" (instead of the floatation device we were playing on earlier.)

My make up looks good. Right?

Two Posts

I hiked up to Donut Falls with some friends this week for FHE.

Also I screamed like a girl and ran when someone saw a mouse.

My camera battery was dead when we happened upon a moose. Luckily it was a nice moose-otherwise I would be dead.

back log

Here are a few other photos I meant to publish:

My boss took us to an afternoon Bees game. It was awesome.

Scottish Festival

Santa Claus. Check

Root Beer/Creme Soda in an awesome flask (cause we're Mormons). Check

Interesting Characters. Check and Check.

Oh yeah, I got to hold a baby kangaroo at work. No big deal.

Whitney and I at a Bees game.

Snow Cones at a Stake Activity. (the kid photo bombing actually is supposed to be in the photo. He just doesn't look like it.)

I know, I look like I don't know this photo is being taken. But I took it. Go figure. This was right after Grandma Marj's funeral a couple of weeks ago-we went to lunch.

Lisa and I at the rodeo. Ahhh I miss Vernal some days.

(this photo was taken before half of the state was on fire.)

PS Click the post to see all the photos

So I connected my phone to my computer the other day. As it turns out I hadn't pulled off photos since March. Well team... welcome to the last four months of my life... installment #1.

My life seems to be entirely wrapped up in my ward or work.

I have become a fan of the taco stands. My friend Emily and I always talked about going in Ogden, but I was a little too afraid. (Dear females: don't get the burrito. It is freakishly large and you will wish you hadn't.)

I should have told these ladies that. I am pretty sure they are never coming back. But then again, I am also fairly sure a couple of these guys wont either...but that is because of the 4 block walk to get there.)

This was the day we had Sunday school outside. It was kind of fantastic. Throw back to my childhood...

First Bees game of the season. It was actually kind of cold. We lost though. Oh wait, we always do. (Or at least every time I have gone.)

Oh I did the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this year. It was really fun. My coworker David and I did it. Katie was going to do it too. (Darn the old lady hip :D)

I am getting fat. Our ward does a lot of fun things. They usually involve food. I go to all of them. This one is "Top Secret Shakes" after FHE.

Again: more food. We have Taco Tuesday every week. Remember Leatherby's? (the old fashioned ice cream shop.) Well in ghetto Midvale, Utah they also serve street tacos. Our ward shoves up to 40 people in 20x25 foot room. The service is slow, and the tacos are acceptable, the company is fantastic. I think we might double their weekly revenue on Tuesdays alone.

And this is my birthday lunch. (yep for my lunch we do SmashBurger.) My team was gone for the day and I am really glad I am an honorary member of the community team.  ;)
