How LOST Should Have Ended

Jack did get stabbed by the Smoke Monster. That was the highlight of the finale.

Why Lost is Still Lame

The last episode of Lost felt like a ripoff of the final season of Battlestar Galactica. The overriding theme of BSG's final season was if mankind and the Cylons could break the cycle of war. The hybrid child Hera was a symbol of that hope. The promotional photo for BSG was the main characters at the Last Supper. I wasn't the least bit shocked that the Lost producers would rip off BSG and do their own last supper. The makers of Lost do not have an original idea.

Lost Season Finale

Feministe has an interesting thread going on the lame season finale of Lost. The show Lost is like cigarattes and alcohol. It's bad for you but you keep coming back for more.

And what’s with Kate’s sudden change of heart from gun-wielding,”we’ve got to stop Jack,” to earnest eye-contact and then, basically, “whatever you say Jack”? Errgh. Could they make her character any more senseless?

I shared this with Cara. No one likes the Kate character. She is poorly written. JJ Abrams made it no secret he cast Evangeline Lilly to make the next Jennifer Garner. The problem is Lilly literally had no acting experience. I think Lilly was just grateful for the job and never had the nerve to walk into the writers' room and say "This is shit." I given up on Kate making sense. Abrams wanted a Maxim girl. He wasn't interested in an actress.

I feel sorry for Terry O'Quinn. His work has been fantastic. His acting in the episode "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" was most made it the best Lost episode. (Lilly's scene with O'Quinn was her best.) O'Quinn is now playing the smoke monster. That seems lame to me. I do hope O'Quinn receives an Emmy for the Bentham. Locke isn't a liable character. O'Quinn made me feel the pain of his death and we knew Locke was going to die.

I mentioned in passing, on another blog, Battlestar Galactica and The Wire had being character development and acting than Lost. Those shows were on during most of Lost's time and had complicated plots. I was told the acting on BSG and TW was subpar compared to Lost. I about shit myself. Those shows certainly had better female characters with Snoop, Kima, Starbuck and Roslin. And people stayed away from TW and BSG. Sigh.

Jacob seemed like a disappointment. A supernatural being is killed by Ben? WTF? The Smoke Monster knew everything about the island but couldn't find Jacob. Even though they sit and have conversations together by the statue. I will be happy when the Island is finally destroyed.

I think the producers acknowledged how much the fans hate Jack. Why else would Sawyer beat him up?

Is it me or are the Losties acting more and more like the Scooby Doo Gang. Substitute Dharma Initiative van for the Mystery Machine. The dog Vincent was in the episode. Don't be surprised if Jacob and the Smoke Monster are revealed as two gold prospectors trying to scare people off the island.

Jacob: We would of had the deed to the land...

Smoke Monster: If theses meddling plane crash survivors didn't come back.

Thoughts on Last Night's Lost Episode

I think the Losties and freighter people were suppose to go back in time and make bad things happen. Ben getting shot and becoming an Other is an example. My take is Locke is going to bring the people from the past to 2007. (If it is 2007.) The new people with the guns in 2007 will play a big rolein the final season.

Question: what happened to the Others in 2007?

I heard the Lost theory if you’re shot in the side (Desmond, Locke and Sayid) you live. A shot in the chest is death. Faraday is a goner. He could come back as a ghost or in a flashback.

So: is Obama really Jacob?????

Tim Geithner all the way. His secret plan to back AIG bonuses is the clue.

Eloise provided a character with Mommy issues. I didn’t want to see another character (Jack and Locke) with Daddy issue.

An interesting question I heard is who is the hero of Lost? It isn’t Jack. Sayid has done too many evil things to be the hero. Locke fits the Joseph Campbell hero myth. Sawyer fits the reluctant hero mode. The writers aren’t doing anything with Kate are Juliet this season. There are theories that Ben may turn out to be the hero.

I think Jack was suppose to be the hero. The character has the same problem as Ana Lucia. Too annoying and unlikable. Jack will be around to the end because of the Christian Shepard connection. The producers said the last episode will have a shocker about Jack. That plays into theories about Jack being Jacob. Although, I don’t see how.

This must be some poetic karmic justice for professing my hatred for all things Kate. The show's writers only purpose for Kate is use as the resident damsel in distress. That is a sexist excuse to create dramatic tension. God forbid the writers would make a woman the hero. Battlestar Galactica has women in action roles. Why can't the more popular Lost be more imaginative?

The problem might be Evangeline Lilly doesn't have the dramatic power or physicality as an actor to be an action heroine. Katee Sackhoff can overpower other actors just by showing up. Entertainment Weekly critic Gillian Flynn noted how how Sackhoff overpowered Michelle Ryan on updated Bionic Woman. Kate was originally envisioned by the creator to be the leader. ABC wanted the Jack character to live and be the show's protagonist. The network feared

Lost isn't about great acting. In fact, most of the actors are so bad that they unintentionally play their scenes for laugh. Every actor does the infamous Lost cry. The actors squint their eyes and open their mouth and start sobbing hysterically. The highlight of bad Lost is Harold Perrineau's work. I love it when Perrineau screams "WAAAAAAAAAAAALT!" in full overacting glory.

The appeal of Lost is that the show is so outlandish. John Loche's plan to move the entire island is ludicrous. Lost jumped the shark in credibilty (even by fantasy show standards) a long time ago. Analysis of plot points and clues is pointless. The best way to appreciate the show is for it's campiness.

Character's like Jack can only exist in cheesy television shows. No rationale human being would sit on the beach, tell the other survivors after a dead body washes up on the beach and the freighter have lied to them that they are going to get rescued. The characters actions are only meant to move the plot forward. Don't believe the producers bullshit that Lost is a character-driven show. The producers kill off characters callously. Charlie's death was pointless and avoidable. The no-name survivors gunned down at the barracks with as much thought as the red shirt crew members of the original Star Trek.

Trained mercenaries were able to gun down three no-name Losties. Sawyer runs into the open and doesn't get knicked. No character has deftly avoided bullets since Bruce Willis in the Die Hard franchise. Josh Holloway is also the Lost actor most-likely to become a movie star. (Don't kid yourselves about Matthew Fox.) The popular Lost characters can't die. Locke proved that by magically healing from a gunshot wound.

Blame Melissa McEwan for getting me hooked on the show.

Lost Open Thread: the Show Is Back

Ropers, tell me what you think about episode 9. Jack's gut feeling about getting rescued is really getting on my nerves. Locke is crazy, but he appears to be the better leader. I wouldn't have said that in earlier seasons. I don't think I would trust either of them with my life.

What did you like and dislike about the episode? I know there are lurkers out there. Feel free to comment.

Everything About Lost In 4:24 Minutes

A hysterical video summing up everything that has happened on Lost before Season 4, Episode 9.

Side note: I'm I the only one that cringes every time Hurley appears on screen. The character is physically repulsive, dumb, mentally insane and inarticulate. Someone should start a drinking content for every time Hurley mutters "dude" in an episode.

Worst Lost Character to Send On A Rescue Mission

The most unintentionally funny part of Lost is how Kate always wants to rescue another Losties. The only problem is Kate always gets captured and never saves anyone.

Kate was captured by the Others after Jack and Locke went after Michael. She was instructed not to follow them. She didn't listen to reason and was captured by the Others. She was used as a hostage against the Losties. Jack, Locke and Sawyer were forced to give up their weapons.

Kate was captured attempting to rescue Walt. She only escaped with the help of two of the Others (Juliet and Karl). Sawyer thought she was batshit insane when she wanted to immediately go back. My reaction was can any human being besides George W. Bush be both that incompetent and stupid.

Kate got captured again attempting to rescue Jack. This was after Jack told her not to come back for him and he made a deal with the Others to get off the island. Jack reminded her that he told her to rescue him.

Kate: I didn't believe you.

Naomi was stabbed by Locke. Kate went after Naomi and ended up her Naomi holding a knife to her throat. Thanks to Naomi getting the phone from Kate, Naomi was able to inform the freighter that the Losties hurt her. Why Kate neededed to take the phone to rescue Naomi is logic that only makes sense to a crackhead.

Every character gets captured on Lost. Kate is the only character that repeatly does it in such spectacularly bad fashion. How the hell she became one of the Oceanic 6 is beyond me.
