Pirate Michael

We went for Michael's 6 month check up on his Lazy Eye last Thursday. I went expecting to hear these words, but they were still a little tough to swallow. . . Michael needs to do eye patch for the next three months. . . starting tomorrow.
He is now set to do patch therapy for the next 3 months... he wears the patch for a straight 48 hours, and takes it off for 24. It is a adhesive 'band-aid' type patch. The doctor said kids his age are too smart for the over the glasses patch.. meaning they realize they can move the glasses and see, and that is what they will do- so we have to go with the adhesive ones. He HATES, and I do mean every part of that word- HATES band-aids. I've never known a kid like that, but we are not saying the 'b' word, nor showing him the box they come in, because all though they are specific eye patches for toddlers, they look just like "band-aids".
The first morning was a little rough, but after that, he has done very well. We went with a pirate theme when putting it on.. calling him pirate Michael laughsalot. . . It amazes me how he just goes on with life, playing, running, enjoying life with only one eye (and not his 'good' eye) open.
It made me think, how often I stop or give up when things get hard, or perhaps I can't see the outcome clearly. . . yet here is a 2 yr old... who CAN'T see clearly with what he is being 'forced' to look through... yet he keeps going, and it hasn't really slowed him down. He trusts that mommy and daddy know what's best, and just keeps on going. . Oh how I long to do the same with my heavenly Father. . Trust even when I can't see clearly. . or easily. Trust Him because HE knows best... and is guiding the way.

Keep praying for Michael's eye to heal and for this patch therapy to really do the trick. We love you all!

Kaylee's first ballet recital

Well, Kaylee continues to amaze me and make me ever so proud to be her mother!
This year, she took Ballet from a local christian ballet company- Discipleship through Dance. They focus on teaching bible lessons, and that dance is a form of praise to Jesus. Its a great place for so many reasons!

Last night Kaylee had her first recital and it was so amazing! Here are a few pictures and a short video of her dance. They danced to the song "Worthy is the Lamb" and it was quite a blessing. I love that she has learned all the words to the song this year, and what it means as well. Enjoy!

Our Surprise Disney Vacation!

Well, its been a week, and I think I'm finally coming off my 'fairytale' cloud and back to reality, so time to blog about our WONDERFUL disney vacation!I'll start out by saying that surprising the kids, was the BEST way to go! It was so much fun for us as parents to plan it, and so wonderful to see their happy faces when they found out the news!We woke up early Sunday morning- 3:00am and were pulling out of our driveway at 3:55am. The kids were back asleep by around 4:30 and stayed that way till about 8am which was when we were down around the Perry area. We made incrediable time!We got to the orlando area around 11:30, and pulled over for a lunch/potty break.... got back on the road, and once we started seeing several Disney billboards, we knew we had to break the news to the kids (The can't read, but they DO know their disney characters!!They were SO thrilled! It was amazing to see them get so excited although I really don't think they knew what to expect untill we actually went!

We got to our condo at Wyhdam Bonnet Creek around 2pm but our room wasn't ready so we drove over to Downtown Disney- and they were having a Masters Car weekend with a Car show, AND the main characters from the CARS movie there! Michael was in heaven!!!Once we got to the resort we went swimming and when we got back to our room, we could watch the Epcot and Magic Kingdom Fireworks from our balcony! What a treat!! The kids were so excited!
We spent a total of 2 days in Magic Kingdom and it was amazing! The kids were just in awe of everything walking down main street- and then the first glimpse of the Castle was PRICELESS!We did SO much on our first day and the kids loved every second! For those people who say they want to wait till their kids can remember it all- I say- DON"T! Kaylee and Michael might not remember it all when they are older, but mommy and daddy will, and it was priceless! They are the perfect age to go! Michael LOVED Mickey- and I mean L_O_V_E_D! Kaylee enjoyed meeting all the Princesses' and riding rides. :) Her favorite ride was Splash Mountain and The Magic Carpet ride.
When we weren't at the park, we spent alot of time in the resort pools, which was really nice :)
We also did 2 character meals. One was at 1900 ParkFare in the Grand Floridian which had the entire cast of Cinderella there. Kaylee loved this and got to dress up like Cinderella for the dinner. The other one was at Ohana's located at the Polynesian resturant with Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch as the guests. It was quite a blast... of course Michael couldn't get his eyes

off Mickey!
I can't imagine our vacation any more perfect than it was. The weather was nice- sunshine every day, temps in the mid 80s with a breeze, the crowds weren't bad, and the kids were a blast and it was just perfect! Here are a few of my favorite pics from the trip. I can't post them all cause I took over 300!! But this should give you a good overview..

Projects completed!

Since we moved into this house Memorial day weekend, 2008, we have had a dream.
#1- to have a fence to make our yard safer (we live on the corner of 2 streets) and to 'keep up' with the kids better.#2- to finish the basement, or part of it.

July of 2010, my wonderful husband finished project #1.
He built our lovely fence all by himself and did SO much work, but man has it been SO nice to have!!! It is so nice to know the kids are safe... and not have to worry about them running out of my sight. This isn't the best shot of the fence, but you can get the idea :)
Our dreams for the basement have always been to have a playroom, media/'man cave' room, extra bedroom and bath (and of course a unfinished storage area).Valentines weekend, 2011, we finished a project we had been 'slowly' working on as we had extra $$.... the basement playroom. Chris also worked dilegently on this as well, doing most of the work himself. Due to some wonderful finacial blessings of refiancing our home for a lower interest rate last fall, we were able to speed up the process and complete this room. It is SO amazing, and I think we love it even more knowing that #1- we did it ourselves- #2, its paid for!

Here are a few pictures of our wonderful addition to the house! The kids have LOVED this playroom... and love going down there. We also have our 'workout' equipment in the back of the room, so we can use it for that as well (I even run on the treadmill now on some mornings while the kids play or watch cartoons...which is a GREAT thing!)

One of my favorite extras out of this- is I gained a dinning room!!! When we first bought the house, I was so excited to have a 'dinning room' as I've always thought it would be cool to have one and have the extra seating for entertaining.... but the week we moved in, we discovered #2 aka Michael, was on the way and therefore the dinning room became the playroom. Which was GREAT for the first 2 years while the kids were small.
However, I am in love with having a dinning room. I think I like that it makes my home seem 'grown up' now. . . yet the kids still have an 'amazing' space.... its just not the first thing you see when you walk in my front door now! ha ha.
I found this amazing dinning room furniture set on craigslist for only $450 and it fits my room and style so perfectly! Can't wait to have people over to eat on it!!!

So... what is project #3 you may be thinking..... NOTHING! We are taking some 'project' time off and enjoying the fruits of our labors for a while. We do hope to eventually finish the basement completly, but not at the moment.

My sweet boy- Michael

I can't get over how fast kids change and grow. Its amazing to me that my little boy is now 2 years old, and has changed so much in the last few months especially.
As most of you have probably noticed in recent pictures...he does wear glasses now. In October he was diagnosed with a lazy eye and fitted with glasses. He has done AMAZING wearing his glasses. I know they are helping cause he will ask me for them in the mornings. We go back in June to see if his eye is making progress or if we will have to be more agressive and use a eye patch. I think he is absolutly adorable in his glasses though :) He looks like a little man and is so cute. Although its only been 4 months with his glasses, I can barely remember him without them. He is such a cute little man!

A new year!

Can you believe 2011 is already here and that January is already over? Wow! Time flies by so fast!
I can't believe I haven't updated my blog since September. . so my goal is to update more frequnetly in 2011!
Here is a run down of things I missed blogging about from Sept-Dec. 2010.

October-
Michael was diagnosed with a lazy eye and fitted with glasses. . . he looks SO adorable with them I must say!
Kaylee turned 4. . yes 4! She had a mermaid and pirate party and really had a blast with her friends.

November-
Michael did well adjusting to wearing glasses.
Kaylee LOVES her preschool/morning out program and has made some great friends.

December-
we were really busy with christmas parties and events but it was a great month!!
Michael's first follow up eye appointment didn't show alot of progress, but the dr was pleased that he was wearing his glasses with no issues and LOOKING through them and not over them. We go back in June to see where to go from here.
Mommy and Daddy begin fervently working on completing our first room in our basement- the playroom!
Kaylee was so excited about christmas. She really got into it this year, and was thrilled on Christmas morning when santa came.
We had our FIRST EVER white christmas! It was quite amazing!!

Jan. 2011-
Michael turned 2!! I can't believe my baby boy turned two but it has happened. He had a train party and got a train table which he loves!!

Well, there is a quick rundown. Hoping to keep more updated this year :)
