My Absence, and that Number Debate.
Im back for another season... as if im running a show. School is crap as usual and its my last semester. My passion for science is now 0. My bo-chap attitude is showing and my headaches are also back for another season. Army sends letter and booked my med check-up ... 2 years to serve the nation. Got a few tests coming up but with my rubbish GPA and my long gone FYP, I dont think there is a point to labour so hard for that coverted 3.5 GPA anymore. Even if I get that 3.5, I still can't get into local (which is a point I realised since sem 2).
So now my options are overseas.... much more $ involved and of course the far from home factor. My intentions are to work overseas if I could ... but parents are not very happy about that. Thats the effect of globalisation maybe? The world is getting flat.... its that book again. Talking about books, I have recently read 1984 recommended by Kai, fantastic book potraying dystopia. I like the way Orwell potray the main characters and the great detail in every single chapter... (same guy who wrote the dreaded Animal Farm of those Secondary express literature lessons btw.) Somebody needs to collect the book too. E-learning week is coming up = hours at the bookshop scouting for books and FYP report needs to be done.
For the past 1 month, there has been nothing other than the issue of keeping or repealing that 377A of the penal code crimalising gay sex, all over in the newspapers. Every single week there is bound to be something that turns up in the papers.
I being an atheist, I have no religious obligations. That means that I am not tied to any religious organisation. That also mean that im not influenced by any herd mentality that spawns from religious organisation which is a good thing. Blind faith is something that I seriously detest, maybe its because I always have to see it/validate it for myself. Ok this sounds like an atheist "evangelism" all over again haha.
Put my feelings straight to the point... the law is old, ancient and I don't see why it should be kept. I also dont see why governments should interfere with matters of the bedroom between two consenting human beings, be it male or female. Its abit strange because the ones making the opposition to it are the non-gay people, and recently I noticed the christian right is coming up with their own battle lines. And they started calling themselves the majority ...
Being Atheist doesnt mean we got no morals ... our morals are just non religious thats all. Our morals are for human rights and human dignity the choice to choose. If people worry about moral decay so much they should look at themselves and check themselves for following others around blindly. Shock tactics work wonders, and the whole HIV issue about gay sex is so hyped up that I do not know what to say... if people would only find out their own facts and stop the massive assumptions and conclusion hopping habit. Well thats my view on that issue.
