Comte De Monte Cristo

Here rests the thoughts of an immortal, making of what the world hath thrown at him.

"My dear count," cried Morcerf, "you are at fault--you, one of the most formidable logicians I know--and you must see it clearly proved that instead of being an egotist, you are a philanthropist. Ah, you call yourself Oriental, a Levantine, Maltese, Indian, Chinese; your family name is Monte Cristo; Sinbad the Sailor is your baptismal appellation, and yet the first day you set foot in Paris you instinctively display the greatest virtue, or rather the chief defect, of us eccentric Parisians,--that is, you assume the vices you have not, and conceal the virtues you possess."

Questions...

People question about things they always thought was true and real. But in this world, there are many things that arent real and people still believe in them because out of fear towards ridiculous circumstances and rules. Religions fighting everywhere, whose God is greater than whose God(s) and such.

Im not saying the removal of religion will immediately alleviate such conditions of our world. I am also not discrediting all the contributions of religious individuals and societies. When it comes to choose, one must always look at everything and not just listen to propaganda or media. One must be able to discern and discriminate every single detail whether it may be books or the general media. The media is a extremely useful tool for information to the masses and as well as propaganda. So, discretion is extremely important.

I look back at my earlier days and those days in which I thought there was a God or higher being of some sort. I look back at those days where I cast my spells and dwelled in magick, and I look back at those times where I believed that spirits and gods can do almost everything and manifests in all objects present in this world. Well, those days are now over as I feel that religion has served its purpose and now we should advance to a society devoted to science and ethics. So therefore, my religious stance has changed in my years from Believer to Agnostic (not sure there is a God) and then to Atheist(No belief in God(s)).

The more I travelled down the road of religion, the more fustrated and annoyed I became... how can a God so powerful or spirits so great not prevent the loss of human lives. How can people who see millions of children die in parts of the world of starvation acknowledge that this is the will of God? Does God allow babies to waste their life days after they are born? Or does God create life to make it die the next day? It goes on and on to a train of complex thought that is going to be very long for this small blog.

.... I choose to believe that my future is in my own hands.

A little something.

You are an Atheist

When it comes to religion, you're a non-believer (simple as that).
You prefer to think about what's known and proven.
You don't need religion to solve life's problems.
Instead, you tend to work things out with logic and philosophy.

well, I do not know how accurate these test are but Atheist is what describes my religious stance best.

Music, Hair and Holidays.

I woke up at 1pm today, but actually I woke up at 10 am and subsequently slept till 1. Mother went for her checkup today for her liver and failed again. Well it is great to know there have been some improvements, though she did fail 2 of the tests. This is a matter of high concern for me as I had always valued health above all things in life. This also means that I have to push for healthier food to be prepared around the house.

Mother also commented that my hair was rather long already. When I was younger, my hair was even longer than this and had a nice tail to go with it, a very long tail. Long hair has its nice points and bad points, nice being no need to gel the hair or wax, easy to comb especially for my type of hair. Bad points being needing to spend more time to wash my hair and condition it accordingly.

Shaobabin also suprised me that he actually bought a cello end pin for me. Earlier in the week, I was hinting that my birthday was coming and I wanted red wine.... well an end pin is fine because my cello keeps moving and slipping anyway. Last year I recieved a violin shoulder rest. I also bought a new thumb drive 512mb and a keyboard last saturday at the IT show/convention held at suntec. Shaobabin accompanied me from orchard all the way to suntec, a great show of his immense loyalty, but also a poor performance on his sense of direction which pales in comparision with mine.

Piano teacher mentioned that I was not practicing enough for my exam, I agree with her but my hall is always so stuffy even though most of the doors are open and all windows too, I even opened my folding doors. But this week im going to practice more anyway, last week was a week to enjoy after the stressful exams the previous week. Cello practice on wednesday dictates that I will need to practice tomorrow, What a stressful holiday I have.

More to come as I want to keep my posts rather short and to a certain length.

Friends.

Its nice to be with my friends again, Ruth, Cheng, Qihui, Sharon and Kaiqing. Well we sure did had lots of fun, shouting and screaming. I sure did have loads of fun making fun of Cheng too. Simple pleasures in life, makes it easier to see the true meaning of our own existance. We will all submit to time and pass on one day but whether or not we want to make our time worthwhile is another thing.

Pour a little bit on Cheng's head

In view of all that, I might be going to purchase my books on saturday somewhere in Kinokuniya takashimya branch. Well I was wonder whether I should get the Bhagavad Gita or Leviathan, though choice, both are books that I want. But since I calculated the total cost will be around 72$, I can only have one of the two or else its time to pay by NETS. Will decide about that tomorrow.

Time waits for no one, and I wait not for time. I had always openly showed what I feel inside but now, I think that everyone should remain at what status they are. Because too much time has passed, and I have not thought too much, I will not advance further... though no matter how adventurous I may be.

Progress so far.

I have thus far read halfway through James Watson's DNA book, and also have reread confucius analects. I have yet to get the books I want especially thomas hobbes's leviathan.

Last friday, I travelled to eric's residence to practice on a song. Since im playing the cello part im finding some degree of difficulty since the instrument is relatively new to me.(although I played violin to some extent and also have a piano background) The weight of the cello bow and the cello itself poses some problem to my somewhat weak frame. And eric's room wasnt that huge, I had problems placing my cello in a stable position to prevent slips and subsequently dropping my cello on the floor.

Today I was reminded of my afinity for history and the arts. When I saw "Gedo Senki" I was immediately reminded of the phyrgian history and the anatolian regions as well as balkans. The phyrgian hat that the mage war reminded me of the magi of persia too. I immediately also draw similarities with the song with a phyrgian mode of music. My friend shaobabain agrees with me that If one was to shout questions of ancient histories to a crowd only I could answer the questions. Im flattered but I will never stop my aquisition of knowledge and wisdom.

Sage.

What does it take to be a Sage?(not the herb)....

It seems to be specified by a exemplary moral example that people will follow as mentioned by my master confucius. Its very intriguing to realise that all the philosophies are starting to make more sense to me now than when I was younger (like 13 years old when I stepped into the world of philosophy with ethics).

No wonder Confucius said: "At fifteen, I had my mind bent on learning. At thirty, I stood firm. At forty, I had no doubts. At fifty, I knew the decrees of Heaven. At sixty, my ear was an obedient organ for the reception of truth. At seventy, I could follow what my heart desired, without transgressing what was right."

I think this learning process is going to get tougher but It seems I can be able to understand more and draw more from my life experiences.

So many years ahead of me, so much more to learn. Great hope it isnt mathematics...
