It started when Lastrina's friend needed a sales assistant to tend the stall for the weekend. So I decided to take up the job for this weekend. The Social Innovation Park organizes their sales at Vivocity every first and last weekend of the month. Social entreprenuers come together to set up booths to sell their goods. I was really wow-ed by my boss when I met him and his parents and learnt about the history of his project. Simply put, he founded Art With A Heart when he was 14 and all his profits from the sale of his artworks go towards funding charity projects. He is currently working to fund a project that sends opticians to poor countries to prescribe glasses for the children there. His achievements are amazing.
If you are a Straits Times reader, perhaps you will find this name familiar for he has made the news a few times.
Paints are provided if the customers wish to paint the figurines on the spot.
Art With A Heart FTW! (:

I needed something to prop my music book against yet I have no real need for a music stand. So I made a trip to Daiso while I was out settling some stuff today and look what I found!
Don't laugh! I know it's a photo frame holder. But the support is there so I bought it. With a bit of improvisation (I had to place a hard A4 board behind the book), it works pretty well. All for S$2. Woohoo! (:
My next few weekends will be spent working. Helping to sell products for social entrepreneurship projects. Will be at Vivocity this weekend! Still looking for more jobs, preferably shift types. I think I have been giving my consultant at the job agency a hard time with my dumb schedule (it's beyond my control, really!).

Ok. I love my guitar. I love classical guitars. I love my weekly lessons. 30 full minutes of happiness. But it is fast becoming a nightmare memorising the chords on top of translating them into musical notations. I think I need to start spending more time for daily practice; 1 hour just doesn't seem sufficient anymore. Argghhhh! I can do this! I can do this!! *screams*
P.S. Yang Xuefei's rendition of Romance de Amor and Alex Chudnovsky's self-composed Russian Romance are some of the most heartwarming classical guitar pieces I've listened to. (:

Twestival Singapore 2011
Twestival, also known as Twitter Festival, employs the use of social media to organize fun events for a charitable cause. Many countries worldwide organize their own Twestivals, and the one I attended today is Twestival Singapore 2011! It was held at TAB Singapore and they are going to donate 10% of all their profits tonight to the selected beneficiary, Children-At-Risk Empowerment Association (CARE).
Door gifts received upon registration. And we bumped into some of the guys from hackerspace.sg from yesterday! Haha. Well, the sticker is actually for writing our Twitter ID. I don't even have my own Twitter account (which makes it ironic why I'm attending this event) so yeah, I'm writing my own name. I looooooooove my name. (:
Good thing we came early enough. All the booth seats and some of the other larger tables were reserved. Basically, the night alternated between performances by local bands and lucky draw announcements. Anyone who donated above S$50 was automatically qualified for the lucky draw, and they certainly gave away a lot of prizes.
There were hilarious moments too. Like, it was a Caucasian guy won pole dancing lessons. He has a good sense of humour too, for he danced suggestively while watching up to collect his prize. Hahaha! And then there was the grand prize, a weekend drive in a MINI Cooper Countryman. I think the host had to call out more than 10 names before the winner was selected. Because the winner has to be above 25 years old and owns a driving license.
Twitter bird is giving out the prizes! (: This pair of brothers both won prizes so the host is making them do a dance. Lol. Some simple, random dance moves put together.
Buffalo wings and homemade fries. The fries are super crispy and goes excellently with the Thai chili.

WorkCamp SG 2011
I wasn't quite sure what to make of this event prior to attending it. Lastrina and I found ourselves lost quite a few times. To put it more accurately, I would say it was more of a hackerspace event (go google 'hackerspace' if you don't get it)(hackerspace.sg was one of the sponsors). It was more of a gathering whereby the hackerspace community get together to discuss business ideas, though I wouldn't say they exclude others. Anyone and everyone is welcomed to join their events.
It was really a new experience for me and I really did learn good stuff about organizational structure, even if some of the other stuff are still kinda advanced for me at this point of time.
A list of suggested topics for the parallel sessions. There was a lot of free discussions and exchange of ideas and opinions during the WorkCamp.
And a random shot of some of the participants. Actually, that's Natasha in the photo. She will be the head facilitator of the World Leadership Conference 2011 and she was the one who invited Lastrina to this event (who then invited me). I was surprised she found me familiar from the first WLC volunteer training because we haven't talked before. Then again, this kind of situation has happened too many times before, people recognizing me and me not knowing them. Maybe I do have three eyes on my face, because I have no idea how to explain why people always notice my presence no matter how unnoticeable I make myself out to be. But it was a pleasure meeting her. I have met a lot of nice people through WLC 2011, indeed. (:
Tuesday, March 22, 2011 | 10:39 PM
Attended the "Addressing Climate Change and Development Together" talk by Professor Jomo Kwame Sundaram, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development, United Nations today.
Met up with Lastrina at Boon Lay bus interchange and we took 179 down to NTU. Alighted at the wrong place and couldn't find the auditorium at Nanyang Executive Centre. We arrived at an entirely different auditorium (it's even named Nanyang Auditorium, what the hell). I seriously hate getting around in NTU; I never fail to get lost. We walked around for 30 minutes (but hey, nice, cool weather!) before we found the place. We even took photos with the sign to celebrate our find. Haha!
A few others from the WLC organizing committee arrived subsequently. And I was surprised to see Susan and Yean Yang there. Didn't know they would be attending too. (:
I wish the talk could have been longer for Prof Jomo has plenty of valuable insights to share. It was quite heavy on economics and statistics. The whole lecture was enjoyable and my mind had a good workout (even more than during the final poly exams). It made me recall plenty of information that I'd read about years ago. But what I know is meagre. I need to follow up on political and economic news more seriously, and not just current affairs alone.
Lastrina and I grabbed a plate of pizza slices from the reception and walked back to the bus stop while munching away. Plenty of random moments today. Sure makes life more exciting.
Another talk tomorrow! Introduced by Lastrina. It deals with business management. And I thought, just go for it, lah! The information will definitely come in handy one day. It's all for the future. ;)

Eco-Carnival
Before I start my post about my awfully good Sunday, I'd like to ask you (yeah, you, dear reader) to help my friends complete a quick survey. They will be the Singapore delegates at the World Leadership Conference in July, and they are doing this public consultation as part of their research for the national policy paper.
10 questions. All multiple choice questions. It won't take a minute. Pretty please, and thank you very much! Your help will be greatly appreciated! (:
And no, it has nothing to do with the upcoming general elections. (One uncle actually asked me this while we were conducting the surveys at the eco-carnival.)
Now I shall officially begin my entry. The eco-carnival was organized by the youth clubs of Ang Mo Kio GRC and Yio Chu Kang SMC, and is held in conjunction with World Water Day and PAYM 40th Anniversary. ECO Singapore has a booth there to introduce the conference to the public.
When I arrived at the meeting point, I was alone. Dong Ying couldn't come 'cos she was down with a fever. Didn't see the other volunteers either. One of the delegates, Meng Yi, was supposed to pick us up but he was running late. Well, he arrived more than 30 minutes later in a cab and I hopped on so we could get to Anchorvale Community Centre. He owes me lunch to make up for the long wait lol.
Met the other Singapore delegates there, Ke Jia, Keith, Susan, and Yean Yang. There was one more volunteer, Harry. And they are suuuuuuuuper nice people. (: Really enjoyed myself chatting and joking with them! Went around asking people to do the surveys, which turned out to be an interesting experience. Met people from various careers and with different opinions. I would occasionally joke with them too. Talking to strangers is fun!
I met an old friend at the carnival too! I bumped into Keshia, who was a fellow Eco-Youth Mentor in the Dunk It at National Day Parade 2009, another one of ECO Singapore's programmes! She went MIA halfway through so I never got the chance to get her contact info. It's a blessing that I finally get to see her again. I recognized her immediately and went up to her. Had a good chat before getting back to work. And I finally got her contact details. :D
The trip home was amusing. We placed the props and survey stuff into the back of Yean Yang's car and then squeezed into the back. Got a lift to Seng Kang MRT and took the train home. Y'know, I've been living in Sembawang since 2000 and this is the first time I've a friend who I can go home with! Like, how many people do you know of who stays in Sembawang? Lol.
P.S. I'm seriously awed. I'm aware that I often use double entendres (a phrase with meanings that can taken either way, sometimes one of which can be dirty and suggestive) in my written and spoken language. I'd do it unconsciously, but realise it immediately after using it. Yet, twice, I've been outwitted by friends from that school. Not only did they saw through my words, they actually came up with a witty remark before I even realise it myself! Not even my close friends saw through my double entendres! Their minds are like steel traps. I wonder if all the students in that school are similar, not that I would be surprised if they are. Ok, I'm stereotyping now. Haha.
P.P.S. Must memorise music taugeys tomorrow! Must practise those 3 songs before the next lesson argghhhh!
P.P.P.S. I finally have the photos from the first WLC volunteer training session on 12 March!
Mostly taken while waiting for the rest of the volunteers to arrive. Had a hard time finding GRID New Media Studios at *Scape because it was such a nondescript room on the outside!
Yay. I love today. Awesome day. (:

Reflection #4: Kindness through suffering
I figured that humans learn to be kind to others once they have had a taste of pain, suffering, and loneliness.
When they have felt what's it like to be torn apart or dying slowly on the inside, they learn to empathise with others. When they have experienced the misery, awkwardness, and fear of truly being alone in this world, they will make sure others will never be left out again. Simply because they do not wish for others to go through the same suffering.
The greater the pain suffered, the more selfless the person becomes.

Just thought I should do a quick post about some reflections on my mind now.
Reflection #1: Everything's Part of a Bigger Plan
I would say the shit has hit the fan for Japan. I don't reckon the world has seen any series of disasters so horrific: In the span of a week, the Japanese had to deal with two earthquakes, a volcano eruption, a tsunami, a nuclear meltdown and mounting death tolls.
I've always thought humans are dumb creatures, always trying to play the God card and living on grandiose delusions. Yet, look at how easily we are at the mercy of Mother Nature.
Esther has this theory that this is what makes our generation different. We belong to the generation of crushed dreams and distorted realities. Our life is bombarded by wake-up calls. The more we refuse to listen, the greater its form and impact.
Which I thought was helluva ironic. The previous generations couldn't fulfill their dreams because of war, political depressions, etc. So they worked hard to ensure the next generation would have a chance to realise their dreams. But right now, everything they worked so hard for is falling apart.
This begs the question: What are we working so hard for? If it's for power and wealth, then maybe it's time we stop to think about the things in life we're missing out on. Instead of living such a miserable life, we ought to take life as it comes. The good and bad in life comes as a package. Might as well learn to appreciate them both, right?
If anything, I've learnt not to question God's intentions. I've come to the realisation that everything that happens is part of a bigger plan. Most of the major events in our life are fated; the rest are uncharted and left to us to decide how we want it to be.
Reflection #2: Perfectionism
I feel somewhat bitter after realising this. That perfectionism is essential for survival in Singapore. Living in this country will only get more expensive and competitive each passing day. My perfectionism is bound to worsen after realising this, because I'll be so much harder on myself now. It's like declaring war with myself to ensure I'll be ahead of others.
Reflection #3: Some Things that I'll Never Understand
Yeah, I don't think I'll understand.

Had a day out by myself. It's so fun going out by oneself. I'm starting to get hooked on it.
Kinokuniya is having a 20% storewide discount from 10-16 March as part of their "A Picture Paints A Thousand Words" promotion. I love it whenever there is a 20% discount. I would make sure to get a couple of books to make my money worth it. Unfortunately, I'm broke this month so I could only afford the books I can't do without. And very sadly, they do not take stock of the book I'm hunting for. The libraries do not have it either. Maybe I should try ordering it online. There are a couple of dystopian novels that I want to read and display proudly on my shelf. (:
Ended up getting myself a classical guitar guidebook and Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul. I am becoming a collector of the Chicken Soup series, in addition to borrowing them from the library.
I finally got my Cold Stone Creamery fix! It has finally arrived in Singapore, exactly one year after I first ate it in Taiwan. Been waiting for this day since forever! (Yup, I'm extremely happy about it.)
I've only praises for this ice cream boutique. This has to be the happiest eatery I've been to. The staff would break out into Cold Stone Creamery songs and cheers at random, sometimes even dancing! They are super friendly and when they serve you, they do it with a big smile. It was entertaining watching them do stunts with the ice cream too, like tossing it into the air and catching it in the paper cup/waffle. I could really give them 10/10 for their service.
Another thing I like is the ambience. The dim lighting, spaciousness, and cushy sofas lying around gives the place a cosy feeling. I can totally foresee myself spending lazy afternoons here, digging into rich ice cream creations while poring over a good book. Which was what I did today. I had a perfect afternoon. I'm totally enjoying life these days.
Peanut butter cup perfection. It was delicious! :D I ordered the medium size (they call it 'Love It' there) and it turned out to be a bigger portion than I'd expected. The whole deal was made sweeter (pun fully intended!) by the fact that I had 32% off my bill. It was part of their pre-launch promotions on Facebook. They gave out discount vouchers daily, with the value being the same as the number of days left to the launch day. Ended up paying $6.35 instead of $8.90. (:

Mexind's in Singapore!
We're missing Angeline; she was held up by other commitments. Mexind was our Indonesian youth ambassador when we went for the ASEAN Youth Wallacea Expedition last June. Now he's in Singapore to attend the World Model United Nations Conference 2011. We brought him around Sentosa for some fun on Sunday afternoon!
Very ironically, Yasmin's the only one who has tried the Skyline Luge (first time for James and I). I suppose people don't usually bother to visit their own country's tourist attractions. The ride up on the gondola is a short one. It was good we came in the evening. The weather was not too hot and it was breezy.
Going downhill on the Luge was awesome! Those go-cart/toboggan car systems were fun to zoom around on. As Yasmin puts it, "If only driving was as easy." The temptation to speed is there, but it would mean ending the ride in no time and having lesser time to take in the scenery.
Had plenty of time left so we decided to go for the MegaZip. It is somewhat costly at S$29 for a flying fox. But you know what? Go at sunset. The view justified the price for me.
We had to pay an additional S$2 for a buggy ride up to the site. I was sitting in the middle of the backseat of the buggy. Nearly flew out of my seat each time the buggy went bump or sped up! Had to be fitted with all the gears before climbing up a four-storey tower for take-off.
Hm, I'm in the extreme left of the photo. Was being suspended then, just waiting for the guides to release me. I love flying fox ever since the first time I tried it years ago in camps.
The sunset view was gorgeous and the cool air rushing past felt wonderful. It was an adrenaline rush and state of calmness simultaneously. First, there was the lush greenery of the trees, which then revealed the white sand and sparkling blue waters. Some of the beach-goers below called out to me and waved, and I gave them a huge grin and waved back. It was fun!
Landed at the tower on this small island just a distance away and made our way back to the main island.
Took the monorail back to Vivocity for dinner. Mexind was really interested to try our local specialties, and he has already tried a few since he arrived on Saturday! Dinner conversation was really interesting too. I think we were awed by his story of his school trip where his group stayed with a village house and two of the girls got possessed. That one was a riot.
James and Mexind left after that. I accompanied Yasmin as she needed to find a wedding gift for her friend. Couldn't find any decently-priced yet suitable gift. Gift shops are freaking overpriced. We tried finding handbags but couldn't find a good one either. Finally I suggested Tangs because the Vivocity outlet sells "lifestyle-concept" merchandises. And thank goodness we did. There was a wide variety of smart photo frames, with prices lower than in "some" gift shops. It's all about knowing where to look.
It was really late by then. Most of the shops were closed. Squeezed onto the train (so damn packed and it's Sunday, 10PM!) and finally reached home at 11PM.

I wonder if my mother was right when she said that I could have fallen sick due to stress. I bottle up all my negative emotions and thoughts, and it tends to take a toll on my health. The few times that I get angry, I would end up with a headache or eye pain. I chuck my own feelings to one side so I would only know how I feel after I really STOP to think about it, sometimes only days or weeks later. I think I'm feeling it now, and it's quite bad. So maybe I did fall sick because of my feelings? :/
Those two Panadol pills worked. But I'm feeling cold despite the warm, humid weather. In fact, I'm wearing my Uniqlo fleece jacket now. My fingers are icy.
Going out to Sentosa later in the late afternoon. Meeting up with Team Wallacea. We're bringing Mexind who is visiting Singapore to have some fun. Maybe the sun will do my health some good.

Two volunteer events in one day! S'been a glorious day! :D
I'm not gonna talk much about the first one since I won't have much positive comments. Frankly speaking, I nearly wanted to play hooky but I decided that was simply irresponsible. I would see it to the end and then quit. Something good did come out of it, anyway. I made friends with another volunteer (Xue Li) much younger than me. Told her I was 19 and got called "old". Oh my God, lah. I'm starting to feel older than I am.
I had some time alone before the next event so I dropped by Far East Plaza to have my favourite SourMilk frozen yoghurt. Sitting on the bench by myself, eating frozen yoghurt topped with Fruit Pebbles, and people-watching was so enjoyable.
I signed up as a volunteer for World Leadership Conference 2011 waaaay back in December 2010. It was done on a spur of the moment. I was typing my resume for my Communication Skills II module and while filling up the activities/interests section, realized that I haven't done any volunteer work in months and that my life was getting as stale as old bread. Passed the interview in January and the first volunteers' training was today.
After signing in, I sat next to a girl (Dong Ying) and we chatted right away and all the way till the start of the briefing. This is damn special because I'm a person of few words. Got awesome chemistry with her. :D There was a briefing about the upcoming WLC 2011 and some pre-conference events. Then, we got split up into groups for icebreaker games. Played some name games and the 10 Fingers/No Life game and we had a good laugh out of it. At the end of the session. I signed up to volunteer for the pre-conference events. More fun stuff to look forward to!
Spent the rest of the day with Dong Ying. Bought Gong Cha and had dinner at Din Tai Fung (小籠包!). Had a leisurely stroll to Dhoby Ghaut for some window shopping after dinner. We have quite a bit of interests and tastes and opinions in common! I think it is second (but definately far) to what I've with Esther.
I had a splitting headache and felt feverish since afternoon. By the time I reached home, my nose had started itching and I sneezed once. Popped 2 Panadol pills and all the symptoms went away for now. Hope it doesn't come 4 hours later (which would mean I need to take the stronger Panadol).
Dental appointment with my orthodontist tomorrow morning. Wonder if the dinner with the Wallacea Team is still on tomorrow. Haven't seen them since the Indonesia expedition last June. :/

Did anyone manage to get their $1 Burger King Tendergrill Chicken today? I went to the one at the newly opened Clementi Mall around 11:30 AM with Shi Hui, saw the snaking queue and raised the white flag immediately. I'm not that desperate for a cheap burger. But I thought it was quite an interesting marketing campaign. Perhaps it would have been better if they had used "Limited to the first xx customers per outlet" or something instead of "Whilst stocks last". Sounds more specific, doesn't it?
Took 154 down to Singapore Institute of Management. I had to present my certificates and transcripts for verification. Instead, I got told that I don't qualify for the May intake 'cos my polytechnic graduation is in late May. They will get back to me again regarding the administration changes. Sigh.
Explored the campus a little and found their cafeteria. Awesome variety of food with prices that never exceeds $10. We got excited over the $5+ pizzas until we went inside and saw that it was not available. Lol. We ordered black pepper grilled fish and tom yum soup which came up to $9.30. This makes me miss the food in NYP for it was way nicer and cheaper. I miss lok lok! :/
Spent the rest of the afternoon at Orchard. Went to a job agency and submitted our applications for a job. Haha, I still remember Shi Hui exclaiming that the guy that attended to us look damn young! He reminded me of an acquaintance of mine because of their features.
Stopped at Central Hong Kong Cafe to rest.
Almond milk tea. Shi Hui tried a bit of it and pulled a long face, haha! I reckon I have quite a few friends who dislike the almond flavour.
First guitar lesson today! (: Really, really enjoying it! But the timeslot falls on a weekday evening. High risk of clashing if I were to find a part-time job or when school starts next time. To make matters worse, Cristofori Music School has a no refund, no make-up lesson policy. Argh. Maybe I will deal with that when it happens (can't do anything now anyway).
Wednesday, March 09, 2011 | 7:57 PM
Felt great to get out of the house after spending the last 2 days at home! I was beginning to get restless. The outside air is so much fresher.
Went to Sembawang Shopping Centre to help my mother check out some stuff at Giant before ordering my lunch on takeaway at Subway. I ate my sub while taking a slow stroll back to Sembawang MRT. Esther and I would always take this route after our dinners at Sembawang Shopping Centre. Although it is the same path, the feeling is somewhat different in the day. The feeling of having the sun's rays warm my skin and the wind tousling my hair is very comforting.
Took a train to Ang Mo Kio. Went to the NTUC Xtra at AMK Hub to help my mother check out more stuff. Did some shopping of my own there. Heh. Ended up getting myself a new pair of shorts and cottage cheese (ok, this is so random).
And YAHOO! I finally signed up for music lessons. For the first time in my life, I'm gonna learn how to play a music instrument apart from the recorder! I signed up for individual classical guitar lessons at Cristofori Music School at AMK Hub. First lesson starts tomorrow night. Exciteddddd! (:
I did think about learning how to play the piano. But I decided that I prefer to listen to people play it. I may consider taking up Cristofori's short term/holiday course in future to learn how to play the piano for leisure. And after doing a comparison between acoustic and classical guitars, I decided to learn classical.
I got a mini shock when I reached home, though. The Cristofori staff told me to bring my own guitar (thank God I already have one classical guitar and one acoustic guitar at home). The problem was that one of the strings was missing on the classical guitar! Felt bad asking my father to help me re-string it after his long day at work. Got to start learning how to do it on my own.
Father: Got a letter from Kinokuniya for you. Me: (deadpans at the envelope) Me: ... Must be asking me to re-new my membership, lor.
Argh. I'm broke enough at the moment. Still considering whether to re-new my membership 'cos I don't buy books that often now. ):
Quite a bit of stuff to do tomorrow but looking forward to it!
Sunday, March 06, 2011 | 10:10 PM
Chatted with my neighbours and found out that their daughter was in the first batch studying Bachelor of Food Technology (Honours) by Massey University at Singapore Polytechnic. She will be graduating soon with second-class honours. Good for her. (: My mother asked my neighbour to ask around if there is a need for a tuition teacher or something along that line. Lol, the benefits of having a neighbour who is a member of the Residents' Committee.
Gave away some of my old stuff to a relative of mine, including my huge Pikachu stuffed toy, cartoon VCDs and a small TV.
Headed over to my uncle's house at Tampines for family lunch to celebrate my paternal grandmother's birthday. There was talk about the young ones (like me) who would be entering university or looking for jobs. Got my uncles keep a lookout for a job for me too haha. Spent the rest of the afternoon reading the Straits Times while hearing the adults do hilarious parodies of their potential retirement jobs. (:

It was no joke getting to the Beyond Social Services (BSS) centre at Whampoa Drive. It's pretty isolated. And I used to wonder where St. Michael's terminal is, 'cos I would always see it displayed on the LED screens of passing buses. It's at Whampoa. Oh my God.
It was somewhat messy at first. I remembered feeling lost and next thing I knew, I was tasked to help a Primary 1 Indian girl with her Chinese homework. I could almost hear God laughing at me. Chinese! (-__-) The whole volunteer activity has been a joke right from the start. I'd applied for 3 types and ended up being assigned to BSS to help underprivileged children with their studies. And now, this. I can't help but feel that God was listening to me when I made all those decisions to change my life.
The best benefit to me (apart from improving my social skills with children) is that I get to have an idea of child psychology through first-person experience. (:
Took a bus down to Far East Plaza for lunch. I'll never tire of having the tomyum ramen and Sourmilk frozen yoghurt there!
I accompanied Woon Ching down to Ministry of Education at Buona Vista because she wanted to attend the Singapore Institute of Technology Open House. Saw a few Food Science students from our batch as well as other interested applicants for the University of Newcastle upon Tyne's Science with Honours in Food & Human Nutrition programme. The competition for food science programmes seems tough. Not that I think the one for psychology is any better. I remain unsettled until I get my confirmation letter. The sooner NYP releases the final results, the better. ):
Friday, March 04, 2011 | 11:49 PM
Spent the day shopping at Bugis (bumped into Shihui!) and playing at the arcade (Jubeat and Taiko no Tatsujin) and LAN shop (L4D2). I feel kind of guilty playing around so much. I will probably meet up with a few more people next week. And then, I REALLY have to start working. *inserts determined face*
How should I say this? It's not too hard to see where the future is headed. I'm going to prepare for the worst and I daresay I won't be the only one. I've more or less planned out my actions for the next 10 years. I finally understood why my father always said he is worried for my generation.
I better get to bed. Going for my first session as a volunteer at Beyond Social Services for their LIFE teaching programme tomorrow morning! (»'⌣'«)

One Moment of Klutziness
Never thought this would happen to me, but it just did. I've always thought it was something that only happens to klutzes in comic books or shows. I seem more prone to bouts (albeit rare) of clumsiness as I get older.
I was leaning too far back in my swivel chair and it toppled backwards, sending me to the floor in an instant. Good thing I landed in a sitting position; anything otherwise would have been nasty!

Now That's It's Over...
My polytechnic years have unofficially concluded. No more dozing off in boring lectures and dimly-lit lecture halls. No more 1-hour tutorials at stupid timeslots. No more wearing of my pristine white lab coat. No more lugging home 2 KG of hard-cover library books for my research work. No more 50-pages reports or PowerPoint slides to compile. No more petty, immature arguments because of group work.
I don't harbour any ill-feelings towards any of the negative things that had occured all these while. Neither can I say I truly enjoy or love them. Yes, there were definitely good times of fun and laughter. But it all ends there; there's nothing more to it. I can only describe my feelings towards all the people I've met in NYP as apathetic.
Still, it was a nice feeling hearing the synchronised cheering of the Year 3's echoing throughout the indoor sports hall after the teacher declared the end of the last exam paper yesterday. (:
This wasn't what I wanted at all when I applied for my post-secondary school education. It's pretty common for polytechnic students to change course after the first year. But I stuck to FS on my father's advice: use the diploma as a passport to university. When a diploma is used that way, it is no different from an 'A' level certificate. Except that we're required to have a near perfect GPA to get into local universities.
Day 1 of my holidays and I'm already bored. Time to start registering for my stuff and part-time job to max out all 7 days of the week! :D
P.S.: I love the little girl my neighbour's babysitting! I would see her when I'm on my way to school and she would be there at the metal door grilles. The first few times she was too shy to acknowledge me. But she came out by herself to greet me when she heard me yesterday and waved me goodbye with a big smile! *heart melts to a puddle* My efforts to reach out to her hasn't been in vain. Wheee! (:

The Last Lap
I'm so incredibly lazy that I'd devise a strategy that would ensure minimal revision but maximum marks. It involves a combination of psychology, logic and foresight to predict the questions that may be coming out. And I would just study just that much, knowing the rest will not be tested. Even if an unexpected question comes out, I'd wing it by recalling as much as I can from the past 3 years of food science knowledge.
Yes, I'm THAT lazy. In fact, I only study the night before.
I really, really admire some of my peers (no, I'm not being sarcastic) for their hardworking attitude towards mugging. They can start mugging way before the actual paper and be so consistent and focused on it. I would love to emulate them, but I don't think I can ever be like them.
It's the final paper tomorrow! Go, me, go! Going to AMK Central for a meal and some rounds of L4D to celebrate after that.
Gonna have to start planning my schedule for the next few months to ensure nothing clashes! ><
Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm Charmaine. I graduated from NYP with a Diploma in Food Science, but I'd rather eat a smelly sock than go into that field. I'm hoping to become a psychology undergraduate this year. In the meantime, I'm working as a waitress at SoHo7 Cafe & Bistro (I may just be the one serving you!). Do pop by for our freshly roasted coffee and yummy grilled food, and say hi to our cheery (and somewhat gaga) team! :D

I’m a somebody and a nobody. I’m rational and emotional. I’m critical but I’m non-judgemental.
I like my things categorized by types and chronologically. I like taking photos to preserve the moments of my life. I like dystopian literature. I like reading Wikipedia articles at random. I like travelling to foreign lands and seeing the world. I like long conversations over good food. I like pop and classical music. I like guitars. I like cats. I like writing random, mushy letters and notes to the people important to me. I have a whole long list of things that I like, but you’ve got to get to know me better to know them all.
