Chingay 2010 M1C first outing! It was organised on a last-minute notice so not many people can make it. We decided to have dinner somewhere in Bugis. Took some time to decide where to eat. We settled for steamboat in the end. There are streets full of those in Bugis. :D

I like Ling Ying's expression. Hahaha.

A whole plate of meat. We had difficulty differentiating the three kinds of meat provided: pork, mutton and beef. The shop didn't label any of the food.

HAHAHA! I forgot what Ling Ying was protesting about. XD

The guy grabbed the hot plate and soup bowl like it was nothing! Omg.

We attempted to BBQ the egg that Jun Xiang accidentally broke for fun. But it got tossed around so much the contents all leaked out. We decided to try with a new egg next.

Ta-dah! Success! Doesn't it look good? (:

LOL THIS ONE ROCKS MY SOCKS! Kia Yi was bargaining with her mother to let her stay out longer and she won! Kia Yi rocks! :D

The bill.

The amount of scallops Ling Ying ate. The scallops really tasted great after being BBQ-ed!

We went to Cold Storage to get drinks because everyone got thirsty after eating the steamboat. Ling Ying decided to get a banana. We thought it had to be bought as a bunch. Turns out you can buy any amount, even if it's a single banana, 'cos Cold Storage sells them by weight, not as a bunch. $0.32 for Ling Ying's banana! :D

We ended up chiding Sacchi for paying $0.60 to get a chilled bottle of mineral water. That brand of mineral water sells at $0.50 for the unchilled one. And with $0.60, he could have bought a bottle of mineral water of another brand at $0.30 AND get a banana for $0.32, which is a source of fibre and helps to ease shitting. LOL. That's how Kia Yi phrased it. Damn funny!

Sacchi sponsored us all yami yoghurt! We got a huge one for all of us to share. Thanks Sacchi!

Ling Ying's a big Yami yoghurt fan! (:

We went to the arcade at the basement. Played the Starball game first. It's good for large groups because everyone gets to play. All you have to do is toss those plastic balls onto the targets on the large screen. Seems childish, but once you get into it, it's addictive!

There's the basketball game too. We had girls vs guys and the score was 138 to 137 respectively. Lol! A difference of 1 point!

Kia Yi and Jun Xiang played another round. I forgot which round they played until before they were tired and Ling Ying and Sacchi took over.

The LAST ball. The one that remains even after the game has ended. The one everyone loves to throw to finish things up. Also the ball that Sacchi, Jun Xiang and Ling Ying fought for. Rofl. They were struggling so hard too. (o.O) In the end, Kia Yi took the ball from them and tossed it. Lol!

Had to leave after that. We accompanied Kia Yi until her Pasir Ris train came before we boarded ours. Had a really fun Saturday night! (:

Woon Ching had to attend a briefing for another event in the morning so I met Ashsiqqin and her in the library at Esplanade later on this morning.

She was sleeping when I arrived. Ashsiqqin and I chatted and couldn't stop making fun of this couple who was at Esplanade's roof garden. They asked for it, ok? What with all the public display of affection. -.-

Woon Ching's having the time of her life watching them. It's "live", as she puts it. And the fact they're openly displaying their affections is tantamount to that they want people to look at them. Nice reasoning.

I had taken a damn close-up photo of the couple while shooting Woon Ching. But I'm not posting it here to respect their privacy (even though they really were doing it for the whole world to see).

Woon Ching and I had lunch at Jia Xiang Mian at Marina Square. I think it's the one that advertised on TV with the super catchy tune. Lawl.

Here's Day 2 of Chingay 2010!

Today's one is slightly different. We had to welcome the spectators at the entrance with Chingay cheers.

Thanks to Felicia for video-ing this!

Tonight's lion dance was especially loud. The firecrackers was deafening and the smoke made my eyes teared and it was hard to breathe. Gaaah! The entire road was covered with red paper after that parade. Hahaha.

More confetti fun! We picked up the confetti from the ground and tossed them back into the machine that blows them into the air. The guy handling the machine then blasted it. Wheeeee! On top of that, we kept tossing handfuls of confetti on top of each other, stuffing each other's faces with it, etc. You might have thought we'd mistaken the confetti for snow. :D

We say goodbye to Chingay 2010!

We weren't in charge of sending the spectators off with cheers but we did it 'cos we were having fun, anyway. They love it, ok! I remembered Therena and Jian Hui went up and hugged some of them too.

Thanks to Sacchi for taking this photo!

C is for Chingay!

CHINGAY 2010 IS FINALLY HERE!

The motivators and ushers volunteers have to meet at the volunteers' tent under the Benjamin-Sheares bridge next to the F1 pit stop at 2pm.

I'm posing with the shaker can I'd made.

Some of the stuff that were provided to us.

1C!

We had the entire afternoon to waste 'cos there's nothing for us to do. 1C is one group that can not sit still. So we played the scissors-paper-stone split game. The one whereby you lose, you have to do a split that reaches your opponent.

It's no fun if it's just 2 people. The more, the merrier.

The entire group split into 2 teams to play the game. I was in charge of taking photographs. :D

The relief of winning and the argh-ness of losing. Lol!

Woon Ching's split.

Oh my God. We were given pom-poms to use while motivating!!

We had to station ourselves right in front of the spectators. Sing out cheers and get them into the mood for Chingay. (: We had 'front row seats' for the parade but we are not allowed to take photographs because it's unprofessional.

There was so much confetti. We couldn't resist picking up handfuls of them and throwing them into the air again!

Waiting for the debrief for tomorrow's session.

Happy Chinese New Year!

My dad's company van. YOG!

I went to my ex-babysitter's house first. They're my second family. (: Here I am with my nephew, Skyler. The adults keep telling me he's exactly like me - extremely difficult to deal with. Omg was I that jialat in the past? Haha!

(From left): Me and my 3 brothers, Alex, Alvin and Adrian.

I swear the family's getting bigger. Alex's married and has a family now, and Adrian is getting married some time in June or July.

Photos were taken with Alvin's professional camera. Makes me wanna take up photography too.

It's a damn quiet CNY on my biological family's side. -.-" Didn't even bump into any of my relatives because everyone came at different timings. But I'd a good time. I ended up chit-chatting with my uncle. Talked about lots of stuff. From university stuff to my upcoming trip with Esther. I can't believe the adults said we're daring. What's there to be scared of getting lost in this world? You have maps, you have streets sign, you have GPS. And for crying out, you have a mouth that you can open to ask for directions.

My uncle caught me checking out his guitar and when I told him I will be taking guitar up soon, he gladly taught me the basics! (: It was nice listening to him play the guitar and singing Christian songs.

In the evening, my parents and I went to meet up with my mother's sister and her grandson for dinner at Tampines' IKEA. Second time I'm there this week. Lol.

Lo-hei!

ABOUT ME

Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm Charmaine. I graduated from NYP with a Diploma in Food Science, but I'd rather eat a smelly sock than go into that field. I'm hoping to become a psychology undergraduate this year. In the meantime, I'm working as a waitress at SoHo7 Cafe & Bistro (I may just be the one serving you!). Do pop by for our freshly roasted coffee and yummy grilled food, and say hi to our cheery (and somewhat gaga) team! :D

CHARMAINE CHEONG.

I’m a somebody and a nobody. I’m rational and emotional. I’m critical but I’m non-judgemental.

I like my things categorized by types and chronologically. I like taking photos to preserve the moments of my life. I like dystopian literature. I like reading Wikipedia articles at random. I like travelling to foreign lands and seeing the world. I like long conversations over good food. I like pop and classical music. I like guitars. I like cats. I like writing random, mushy letters and notes to the people important to me. I have a whole long list of things that I like, but you’ve got to get to know me better to know them all.
