Went back to the food labs to check on the orange marmalade our group did during Food Processing practical. Check out the difference between ours and the commercial sample.

Here's another LOL-worthy photo!

By the way, my parents like the orange marmalade. My father even took a few slices of bread spread with it to work. Sweet. (:

My father bought me this stylish clock while he was at work today. Do you know I have 4 clocks in my room now? ._.

I love the view from my room window on nights like these. I was about to sleep when I saw it. Next thing I knew, I jumped out of bed, grabbed my digital camera and took this photo. That's the moon and the dot above it is a star. It looks way better from my room, of course. (:

Joke of the Day:

Fiza: Your future lies ahead of you.
Nabilah: No, it isn't!
Me: It is within sight.

One of the best jokes in a long while. It's damn funny! I can't reveal the exact nature of the joke here. Those in my clique knows about it and we all lol-ed for the world to hear. I'm in love with my punchline! What made it triply hilarious was that my line: 1) rhymes with Fiza's joke (the words 'future' and 'within sight' are related) and 2) the entity we were referring to was really in front of us (hence my using 'within sight' was both a joke and a statement simultaneously). Take that! :D

I decided to buy one of these jelly lens. When you place them on top of your camera lens, they provide additional visual effects. Very unfortunately for me, the lens on my digital camera, handphone camera and even my laptop's webcam are too big for the tiny jelly lens. Fancy that, all three also can't make it. Pfft. ):

Woah. Charmaine got bored one Monday afternoon and decided to camwhore. I don't even remember when the last time I did was..

Pfft I wasted the weekend. Slacked throughout, hardly got any productive done.

I went for my monthly appointment with my orthodontist to get my braces tightened. My visit there got a little dramatic. My orthodontist was half-way through with the tightening and had to rush back to the next room because the previous patient was howling (and really loud dreadful howls at that) in pain. The tighening didn't take more than 15 minutes. When it was over, I went out and saw that patient. Super drama. The old lady's face was deathly pale and she was crying and moaning while clutching her right jaw. Whatever was hurting her must have been bad, because the pain drove her to her wit's end and she attempted banging the back of her head against the wall at one point.

Hm. I just stood there, wondering what treatment she had went for and what could have caused it. My mother, who had came to pick me up, on the other hand was disturbed by that scene. I could tell - she became subdued for the rest of the afternoon. Lol. Then again, I suppose most people would find such situations disturbing.

I also went to see a GP. The sandfly bites I got while at OBS are getting worse. They're spreading. Damn! The ugly red welts are nothing short of an eyesore. And they itch badly too. The only consolation I could find was that those sandflies that bit me are not pathogenic. I'll literally bang my head against the wall if I end up getting Cutaneous Leishmaniasis.

My visit to the GP was less dramatic. Turned out to be some relief doctor and a surprisingly young one too. Both my mother and I were expecting a middle-aged or older doctor. He prescribed me some cream to apply on the bites. After my mother and I left the room, she said the doctor kept looking at me or something along that line. Zomg. With all due respect, I think my mother is making her way to the other side of the hill. -.-"

Back to School with Woon Ching & Visiting Sembawang Park with Esther

There is no school today. I headed back to school because I wanted to use the food science reference books in the NYP library. I abhor researching for food science-related materials online. You'll never get anything - save for websites asking you to pay to access their journals. Woon Ching decided to join me in the library. I reckon we ended up talking more than working (no surprises here, lol). But I got some of the information I needed, so that's that. Had lunch at Koufu and we tried this new stall that sells ramen. We gave the sour and spicy ramen a go. It's pretty good for $2.50, you know. :D

There are pushcart stalls at all four canteens in NYP now, all selling snacks. The one at Koufu sells waffle hot dogs, roti prata hot dogs and cheese sausages. We tried the waffle hot dog and got addicted to it! The auntie even joked to Woon Ching: "If you like it, come back for more." HAHA.

I met up with Esther in the evening to take a walk. We finally found the way to get to Sembawang Park. The first time we tried, we got hopelessly lost and abandoned the idea. Bus no. 882 is the only bus that gets there.

Esther took quite a few photos of me today (I didn't pose for them. She took it without my knowledge). Strangely enough, I'm displaying all my lesser known unique habits in them. It's not that I hide them. Somehow, I show them more often when I'm alone. My INTP personality shows entirely when I'm alone.

If you haven't figure out from the above photo what that habit is, it is reading labels and signs. INTPs will read everything because they believe knowledge is power. INTPs will analyse everything. I think one of these days I'm going to do an entire post on my INTP traits. Lol. But yea, I read like nobody's business. Food labels, clothing labels, electric appliances' stickers, soap bottles, the seating capacity sign inside the taxi, random Wikipedia articles, etc.

So... I've learnt that the height of the lamp post is 8.5m. I felt so small standing next to it after I read that. Haha!

She was standing in the middle of the road, taking photos without a care so I hollered: "Your grandfather's road, ah?" Look at how she responded in this photo. Lol!

Pretty, right? 'Cos it's taken by me. Muahaha (:

I love this place so much. A towering tree with its low branches and leaves swaying in the wind, and a solitary wooden bench next to it. I've seen pictures like this online but didn't expect to find this sight in Singapore. I finally found it. I really feel like I could sit there all day and find peace in my soul...

LOL.

You know, Esther and I took a grand total of 183 photos in a mere 1 and 1/2 hours. Talk about being trigger-happy! We tailed this cat for some time and took plenty of shots of it. I suspect it enjoys modeling for us. Haha. I remember this photo. I randomly said, "Look at me~" and oh me oh my, it turned its head to look me in the eyes. Crazy nonsense!

Another one of my lesser known habits: Looking upwards to observe something, like a tree, the sky, the moon or the stars. It gives me a wonderful feeling, as though I'm trying to comprehend something so simple yet complex, attempting to decipher the meaning of nothingness. I wonder how many people feel it too.

NYAA Green Ambassadors Orientation Trip

It may be late but it's finally here! Just two new faces. We don't have much year ones with us. But hey, this club rocks because everyone's nice and fun-loving! (:

Ashsiqqin, Shu Hui and I had lunch at AMK after the Kayak Kleanup before rushing back to school for this event. Talk about a hectic day. The coach we hired arrived and we're on our way to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. We had originally wanted to book a Chek Jawa tour but we were too late and the slot we wanted was fully booked.

The double scoop ice cream at the cafe there is worth it. It looked more like 4 scoops for 2 flavours to me. They have interesting flavours too. Just look at the blue ice cream. That's Ashsiqqin's bubblegum-flavoured ice cream.

The person second from left, that's Helen, our tour guide. We hired her to be our guide for today's trip. She's really good, giving detailed explanations of the biodiversity found in Sungei Buloh.

You can't really tell from the photo, but this fellow has a metallic bronze skin. Reeeally bronze at that.

Lol I'm wondering why I even took a photo of this. It's a entire cobweb full of baby spiders. At first sight, they resemble tiny yellow balls. Upon closer inspection, tch, spiders. Ashsiqqin blew at the cobweb - and all the baby spiders began scrambling. What a sight. D:

ABOUT ME

Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm Charmaine. I graduated from NYP with a Diploma in Food Science, but I'd rather eat a smelly sock than go into that field. I'm hoping to become a psychology undergraduate this year. In the meantime, I'm working as a waitress at SoHo7 Cafe & Bistro (I may just be the one serving you!). Do pop by for our freshly roasted coffee and yummy grilled food, and say hi to our cheery (and somewhat gaga) team! :D

CHARMAINE CHEONG.

I’m a somebody and a nobody. I’m rational and emotional. I’m critical but I’m non-judgemental.

I like my things categorized by types and chronologically. I like taking photos to preserve the moments of my life. I like dystopian literature. I like reading Wikipedia articles at random. I like travelling to foreign lands and seeing the world. I like long conversations over good food. I like pop and classical music. I like guitars. I like cats. I like writing random, mushy letters and notes to the people important to me. I have a whole long list of things that I like, but you’ve got to get to know me better to know them all.
