@ 6:18 p.m.
I thought I was seeing things when the hanging objects in my house started oscillating. That was before I felt the tremors. Turned out there was an earthquake in Sumatra measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale. It has been some time since I felt a tremor from my own home. The last time round, it was so bad it made me giddy.
@ 9:07 p.m.If I were to say I feel like there's a grey cloud looming over my head, then my father would be having a thunderstorm over his, complete with howling winds, lightning and roaring thunders. Can't say it has been a happy week. Haha.
Mom: (enters my room) What happened? Why your father's face so black (sic)?
Me: Don't know. Must be because of work. Just leave him alone.
Sometimes, men are easy to understand but women don't get it. I don't proclaim to be an expert on guys (far from it, actually. Neither do I care. Lol.) but I did realise some things about them based on personal experience.
1) Guy do talk. Guys do gossip. Guys do want to share their feelings, thoughts, and problems.
2) If a guy doesn't want to talk about his problem, don't push it. Just asking them once and letting them know you'll be there for them is enough. If they feel like talking, they
will. If you insist on getting an answer from them, woe betide you.
Pity that's the mistake women tend to make. They are concerned and want to make the guy feel better but end up making things worse.
Which was why I told my mom to leave him alone. I've tried it on my father before and it always work. Just like today. He's in a bad mood alright, looking grumpy and making agitated movements. All I had to do was stay silent and talk in a 'don't-worry-about-me' voice whenever he asked me questions, like whether I want more rice. Bingo! He calmed down after that and even made small talk. It's the least I could do for him. (:

Wow. Once again, I'm amazed by Esther's dreams. They are so cryptic, like stories being told through another's point of view. It's like the dreams are trying to teach her some important life's lessons through her subconsciousness.
This time, I'm doubly impressed. Because she saw me in her dream. Because she saw me doing something which I'm intending to do
next week. How clairvoyant! (:

I made it to the Student Affairs Office at Block E, Level 4 in exactly 10 minutes from Yio Chu Kang MRT Station.
IMPRESSIVE, RIGHT? LOL!
Let's see. I brisk-walked all the way to the Atrium in 6 minutes before I half-ran, half-briskwalked through the North half of NYP in the next 4 minutes. Woohoo. I wonder if I can make it in less than 10 minutes in future.
Nah. I'd prefer not to. It was only because I was late for a meeting that I'd to rush. I used to brisk walk to school in my secondary school days because I was always close to being late. Hahaha!
Quite a bit was discussed during the meeting. There is a lot of work to be done to prep the student leaders from GA and Geo Council for next year's Bayer Young Environmental Envoy and HSBC/NYAA Youth Environmental Award selection. I feel overwhelmed just by looking at the number of projects we'll be spearheading or be part of in the next three months.
1) Going around to households to conduct energy audits as volunteers
2) Project Earth
3) Project SCL (no fixed name yet so I made this up)
4) Project SBM (ditto)
5) Clean and Green Week
6) Camp Iluma
7) Open House 2010
8) GA Mentorship
I'm most worried about my group communication skills. Hopefully it will get better through all these projects. I've a long, long way to go. But if things go well, next semester will be insanely hectic but fun!
NYAA GA, I LOVE YOU! (:
The rest of the afternoon was spent in the club room, thinking up ideas for our activity proposal form. The crappy bit was that, we were too late in planning that the trip to Chek Jawa we had planned for was fully booked. That really sucked 'cos we had been looking forward to meeting and having fun with the juniors there. We had no choice but to search for another location.

The speech bubble was said by Woon Ching and written by me. (Can't you see my cute and neat handwriting? Lol.) As usual, Woon Ching and Johnson continued arguing on the right side.

Was supposed to go running with Esther and Ting Ting this morning. (Sweet heavens, when was the last time I saw my old schoolmates...) Unfortunately for Ting Ting, that one came up. So yea, she wasn't able to join us. ):
It was awful trying to run in the humid weather. The last thing you want when you're breathless is the further lack of oxygen. Couldn't run as far as the previous times. Aww man.
We went home to wash up before meeting again to go out. Went to Kinokuniya's first. There were a couple of books I want, mostly of which are dystopian literature. I can't get enough of it. I love humans who
think. Dystopian literatures are downright atavistic and animalistic, delving into the darkest human nature, laying out the ugly truth. The author challenges his own thinking as well as defy societal norms.
I would love to get George Orwell's works, 1984 in particular, as well as Animal Farm. But the story revolves around the Soviet Union and I know nuts about it. It would be a waste of money to buy it under such circumstances. I'll just borrow it from Esther in future. Instead, I bought Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, another famed work. Welcome to a world where dictatorship rules; where your status is determined the moment you're born; a world where kinship doesn't exist; a world where promiscuous activity is considered a social activity; a world where drugs are legal; a world where blah blah blah.
Oh my God. Such controversial, debatable topics are fun; it stimulates my mind. Dystopian literature FTW! :D
Esther finally finished reading the first instalment of Battle Royale. I'm not surprised we share the same favourite characters: Shinji Mimura and Shogo Kawada. Afterall, the traits I love most are logical and rational thinking, calm, efficiency and resourceful. I've been told I think like a guy by my friends. The truth is, I've been trying to emulate these guys. Haha. Better to be a girl who remains calm and think than one who loses her head and starts screaming like a beheaded chicken, which by the way doesn't even help to solve the problem at hand.

I have walked past this Coffee Club outlet many times but this is the first time I'm dining here. The window view is wonderful.

Soft shell crab pasta for Esther. Mine's rather quirky. C'mon, just look at the garlic-marinated chicken fillet! It's green!

There were complimentary fruity smoothies for the meals we ordered. I like the Tropical Blast. The manga banana one was nice, although it's a weird combination.
Lol. I'd no idea Esther took this photo.
Our dessert. Ahaha! It looks so sinfully good! (: The whole thing's made of ice cream. We ordered it thinking it was a real chocolatey slice of cake. Lol.

We went to Far East Plaza on a whim. It turned out to be a good decision. We had a nice haul. I'm definitely going back to that shop.
Sorry for the lousy post tonight. Just having some depressing thoughts.. Feeling insecure, unloved and unappreciated for no reason. Maybe I'll feel better after sleeping. Could be the crazy hormones at work, you know. Happens sometimes. (:

This is brilliant! I received two pieces of good news today. I can't believe they waited a whole month to tell me just because they wanted to surprise me. Psssh!
This concerns my babysitter's family. They consider me as a daughter and younger sister though we're not biologically related. Yea, a decade with them fostered strong ties.
1. The eldest son is engaged. Probably marrying next month.
2. The youngest son and his wife just had their first baby. Woohoo!
I seriously can't believe I used to play pranks on the couple when they were teenagers and dating. Used to bluff the girlfriend (now wife) that the guy wasn't at home when she called. Was I that cheeky in my childhood days? Lol. Even now, ten years down the road, the adults won't let me forget it. I think they enjoy recalling my mischievous moments in my face.

Their son's named Skyler. Well, from what I heard, he seems like a pretty intelligent kid for someone who just entered this world not too long ago. I'll bet he's inherited his father's mischievous character too.
Everyone's grown up. Ah, the nostalgia.

I met Woon Ching at ION first before we headed to Wisma Atria to collect the goodie bags for the Reebok Pink Ribbon Walk next Saturday. The t-shirt was a darker shade of pink than expected. Shame, I think light pink would look nice. Haha.
We met up with Ashsiqqin and Shuhui at Cotton On. They bought a couple of stuff there before we headed to Cineleisure for lunch. On the way there, we kept making fun of Miss Singapore World 2009, Ris Low. I doubt she will keep the title for long, now that her past offences has been revealed. But seriously, "boomz!"? That's rich. I finally realise how low the standard of English in Singapore has sunk to.
Blackcurrant soda, peach soda and chocolate mousse. Yum!

It was the last prelim paper for Esther today. Haha. She was so happy about her econs paper. I can relate to that feeling. Anyone would be over the moon if everything they focused on came out and they know they will score for the paper. In fact, it is that feeling that's what motivates me to mug. I want to walk out of the exam hall, grinning like a Cheshire cat. Once, I even went "yay!" while the invigilator collected my paper. She laughed at me, all right.
We had a super interesting discussion about capital punishment and human experiments on the MRT ride to Orchard. I like reading Wikipedia articles on psychology, microbiology, and medical disorders or syndromes. Occasionally, I would touch on other fields too. It's so fun to know as much as you can (to me, at least). I recalled reading up on lethal injection months back. Heck, I still remember the first guy to be sentenced was named Charles something and another particular case whereby the entire procedure took two hours, which subsequently raised questions about the efficacy of this method of capital punishment.
My brain has an awful knack for memorising random trivia and statistics. It doesn't memorise anything instantly and permanently unless it's psychology or microbiology either. Great brain I have indeed. Sigh.
Onto today's outing: Swensen's Ice Cream Buffet! (:
Had a hard time finding the restaurant. It wasn't located within Ion itself. The map on the directory didn't help. I find the sketch inaccurate. Simply put, the restaurant is located on the upper floor on the Orchard MRT station. Remember there used to be a Popular outlet? It's around there.
Almost everyone there were there solely for the buffet. There's an on-going promotion. Two people dine for the price of one, provided you print out and show the staff the promotional coupon (go google it up yourself). The promotion is until 30 September 2009.
Ice cream, cakes, waffles, sundaes. It may seem worthwhile. But really, there's only so much sweetness the tongue can handle. You won't be able to stomach as much as you think you can. Still, it's about the thrill. Haha!

CAKES! CAKES! :D

Like I said, the sweetness got to us. It almost felt sick. We badly needed something salty to get rid of the aftertaste. So we bought Gindaco's takoyakis. Their takoyakis are really different from Takopachi's. It's more fragrant and crispy on the outside. (:
I'm getting miserable...
