Kebun Baru Wellness Carnival

I had to meet up with everyone else at Yio Chu Kang MRT at 6.30am. When I told my mother to wake me up at 5+, she commented that she doesn't even wake up that early to go to work. Haha. I just realised I didn't get to sleep in late this weekend. Dang. (:

The cold morning breeze was lovely. The loneliness and serenity of the place wasn't unpleasant at all.

The day broke while we waited for everyone to arrive.

We chose to catch a ride on the lorry that will be delivering our game booth items to the community centre. Hence, we had to walk to school as the lorry was there.

We've arrived at the Kebun Baru Community Centre. Unloading the items.

Setting up the booth.

LOL.

The carnival ended at 12pm. Now we're hitching a ride back to school, along with the supplies.

One crazy ride back to NYP. Ashsiqqin kept on calling Johnson (who was in front with the driver) with the naggy mother voice. Like, Johnsooooooooon~! The rest of us laughed so hard. Just look at Woon Ching and you'll know what I mean.

On the whole, the carnival was all right. There were the slow, boring moments.. and the not so nice ones. I fail to comprehend how aunties can be so annoying with their overbearing, insistent and demanding personality. Argh! And I don't like the way the carnival officers raised their voice at us. They could have told us nicely. Not to mention they're biased. They didn't even admonish the other stalls even though they made same mistake. Whatever happened to professional work attitude? Sigh.

NDP DunkIt Dry Run

Ashsiqqin wasn't able to make it as she had to attend a National Youth Assembly meeting while Viknes overslept. I think Durga's really pissed with him over that. She was railing at him over the handphone after she found out he was still sleeping when he's supposed to meet us all at Bugis MRT. Haha.

The Eco Youth Mentors (EYMs) were briefed by the organising committee on the plans for the day. Mostly ice breaker games with the Eco Youth Champions (EYCs). We will be going to some locations around the Padang to enable them to know the area better as well (they will be needing it). As we were lacking time, we ordered Macs and walked to The Arts House from ECO office where we will be meeting the EYCs.

Waiting for the rest of the committee, EYMs and EYCs to arrive. In the meantime, we had lunch.

The EYCs were being briefed by the committee members.

Hahaha! I got teamed up with Nabilah, Durga, another girl (I don't know how to spell her name. Omg next week must ask!) and Hong Yi to be in-charge of this group of EYCs: Regina, Li Jun, Adalric, Jun Hao, Felisia, Weilu and Jacalyn. (:

First stop: the Supreme Court.

Here we go. Charades! The phrases used are related to waste management.

We played an extra round for fun, the phrase being "I'm a pig." Don't think they get the joke, though. :/

Ok. Currently heading to the second stop, the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM).

Seemed like there was some activity going on. Whole lotta Liverpool fans there. When Durga found out it wasn't Man U, she was really disappointed. xD

The EYCs have to create and act out a short story using six given words. Prior to this, we played a game whereby we have to count up to a certain number (we used 12 'cos there were a total of 12 people) without any two people saying the same number at any given time. Those who repeated thrice have to do a forfeit. I ended up repeating twice (aaah! I escaped the forfeit!). Hmm.. And someone did the forfeit by shouting, "I LOVE REXONA!!" Yea, yay for Rexona man! :D

- Storyline discussion in progress -

The six given words: Energy saving, paper, plastic bag, house, and water.

Mm, what's he gonna do with the skirt, I wonder.. (:

Played another extra game. This requires strategy. There are two groups of four facing each other. The point is to get all the members of each side to cross over to the opposite side. A person can only stand on one box at any one time. Oh, each person can only jump forward.

The final stop is the Lim Bo Seng memorial at Esplanade Park. We altered the game for this round as it was repetitive. Nabilah and I bought time by playing Chucky Chucky Bang Bang! with the EYCs. This game never fails to make people laugh. In the mean time, Hong Yi and the other EYM (I feel like crap for not knowing how to spell her name.. but the name and spelling is really eccentric) designed the landmine game. I was surprised to find out she went for the World Leadership Conference too. But she's in Education and Environmental Awareness while I was in Green Tech, lah. Not much inter-groups interaction that time. Anyway, we didn't play the game because we mistook the ending time to be an hour later.

Break time. Everyone decided to have ice cream 'cos it's one blazing hot day. Ice cream uncle earning big time, one shot 11 people buy from him. Lol.

EYMs need a break too! Nabilah had jokingly asked Hong Yi to sponsor us girls. But he really did treat us to ice cream in the end. Haha. Thanks for the treat! :D The four of us chatted about our schools (TP, SP, and NYP) over ice cream. It's really nice meeting new people.

Everyone headed back to the Arts House for the debrief. Woohoo, next Saturday's gonna be a super long day! Yet it'll be fun, lah. Feel free to say hi to me if you're passing by the City Hall/Padang area that day. Hahaha.

Nabilah and I decided to waste whatever's left of the day by shopping. We went to Funan IT mall to get memory card readers. I need it to retrieve the 2000+ photos in my old handphone's memory card!

We must have been a funny sight. Two girls sitting on a bench outside Prints at CityLink, having a long talk and drinking iced latte/coffee. We ended up buying notebooks at Prints. Not for ordinary purposes. (:

We went around Marina Square yet we still weren't satisfied. We couldn't decide between going to Esplanade for some sight-seeing or continue walking at Suntec City. So we drew lots. (I think Fiza will be laughing at us if she reads this.) Ended up with Suntec City, which turned out to be real enjoyable too. Especially those shops that sell quirky gift items. Had so much fun looking at those.

Haven't seen this for a long time. I think you can pay to have your personal message displayed across the waterworks. We happened to see one dedication. (:

Late dinner at Macs (second time today..). Hohoho, that's how my wallet looked like at the end of the day. I didn't fake this shot. :D

Thanks for the great day, Nabilah! I'm glad I got to know you so much better today!

OK, Kebun Baru Wellness Carnival tomorrow!

ABOUT ME

Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm Charmaine. I graduated from NYP with a Diploma in Food Science, but I'd rather eat a smelly sock than go into that field. I'm hoping to become a psychology undergraduate this year. In the meantime, I'm working as a waitress at SoHo7 Cafe & Bistro (I may just be the one serving you!). Do pop by for our freshly roasted coffee and yummy grilled food, and say hi to our cheery (and somewhat gaga) team! :D

CHARMAINE CHEONG.

I’m a somebody and a nobody. I’m rational and emotional. I’m critical but I’m non-judgemental.

I like my things categorized by types and chronologically. I like taking photos to preserve the moments of my life. I like dystopian literature. I like reading Wikipedia articles at random. I like travelling to foreign lands and seeing the world. I like long conversations over good food. I like pop and classical music. I like guitars. I like cats. I like writing random, mushy letters and notes to the people important to me. I have a whole long list of things that I like, but you’ve got to get to know me better to know them all.
