My belated Christmas present! :)

I was dragged out of bed at 9am by my mom. She wanted to bring Grandmother to get a haircut before Chinese New Year rolls round. Took 969 to Tampines and reached at 11am. I had breakfast by myself at the kopitiam while my mother, grandmother and the maid were at the salon. One of the few times i actually feel comfortable being alone. Thereafter, they ordered take-aways and mother and i sent them back home before heading to Century Square.

Spent my whole afternoon at the salon. Oh, i saw my ex-classmate, Mahdi! Couldn't recognise him at all. Sorry Mahdi. T.T My hairdresser told me not to do any more bleaching, meaning i can't get highlights. I can only do lowlighting. Hmm. I still want to do highlights. Next time then.

Hehehe. I got the Naruto plushies i wanted! Yesterday say want to buy, today buy. Tsk tsk. I got them from Urban Concepts at Tampines Mall. The shop didn't have stock of the Naruto plushie so they got someone from the branch at Changi Airport to send it over in half an hour. My mom and i went to makan while waiting. They called my handphone to notify me when it arrived. They're so nice, seriously. Thumbs up for their service. The shop deals mainly with Anime stuff. Maybe i should go visit their branches when i pass by Cineleisure or Changi Airport in future. I saw some Akatsuki plushies too. But i only want the main characters. ;/

メリークリスマス!
Merry christmas everyone!

Isn't that picture cute? I love anything chibi. Yay for Naruto chibi-ness! I read finish all 429 chapters of the Naruto manga in a week (Go ahead and call me a manga freak!). Amazingly, it's the first manga to make me cry four times while reading it. All the great characters keep dying. And i sobbed so hard for Itachi. I knew he never hated Sasuke but the ending was like.. Argh. Too heartwrenching. D:

I WANT TO GET NARUTO PLUSHIES ! :D

I want to thank my friends for posting nice messages in my cbox. Thanks for trying to cheer me up. I'm over it. I converted those emotions into strength. :)

Thank you nehneh Yingxue for being my never melting Ms Snowman. I say she is never melting because her motto is to be there for me 'Anytime, Anywhere'. Hehe.

On to my Christmas.. Carellynn invited the class over to her house. Woon Ching, Nabilah, Fiza, Wan Wen, Jasmine, Bixue and i went for the party.

Carellynn let us try out using mineral salts to scrub off dead skin.

Carellynn's mother conducts an experiment involving health supplements as an energy source to power a light bulb. It demonstrates the usefulness of certain health supplements in providing the energy we need. The more energy it contains, the brighter the light bulb will be. Interesting, huh?

Flicker, flicker..

Boom! Super bright now :D

A pile of christmas presents!

Excited about the gift exchange. Heheh. ;D

Time to draw lots..

Our haul for the day! LOL.

Went to my ex-babysitter's house after that. It is her husband's birthday tomorrow. Half of my childhood was spent with them so they're like my second parents. I grew up surrounded by adults, not people of my age. ;/

Since there won't be any class outing tomorrow, i'm going back to my hairdresser tomorrow. Part 2 of my hair works. Meh. My mother doesn't like my current hair colour. She said once the roots show up, all the hair dye and hairlights will be wasted. Hmm, my hair's.. light brown like those Japanese girls in the magazines. Not that i wanted it. That's the problem with DIY hair dyeing. But i can't helping thinking i look better with lighter colored hair. GRRRR. Colour dilemma. -.-

Toodles!

I know i'm slowly falling into depression even without having to notice the clinical symtoms of depression.

Loss of appetite? Yep.
Sleep too much? Forget it, that happens everyday!
Can't concentrate on easy tasks? I don't let emotions get in the way of my work.
Feel hopeless and worthless? Not really. It's something else.
Can't control your negative thoughts? I'm slowly losing control ;O
Constantly irritated or getting enraged over small things? YES. HELP ME!
Think life is worthless? Have suicidal thoughts? I don't believe in suicide! Three cheers for life! :D

Minor, minor depression. I won't ever get suicidal so no worries. I'm more worried about my temper. I nearly reach my danger zone a few weeks ago. I didn't say anything because i don't argue with my parents. Yet i was so pissed i lost control of myself. I bit my tongue, wishing it would bleed and hurt badly. Sounds crazy? I lose all sense of reasoning when i'm seriously pissed. When i calmed down, i thought, what the hell did i bite myself for? -.-

What is wrong with being simple?
Why do simple people get forgotten easily?
Is the presence of a simple person that small or even invisible?
What if i never belonged from the start?

I don't want to be forgotten. I don't want to be alone.

I feel like giving up expecting people to remember even my name. Because Charmaine's one of those insignificant wallflowers you can pass by and not notice. Because she's such a boring, simple, quiet, meek goody-two-shoes. The kind you forget as time passes by. Right right right?

I had a terrifying thought today. My thoughts ran wild. I thought i would die alone next time and no one would find out. Because i have no siblings and if no one else remembers me.. Oh my God lah. But then i told myself, all humans die alone anyway. Basket! Even when i counsel myself, it is by cold, cruel facts. I'm way too harsh when i'm being realistic.

I give up.
Just posted this. Maybe ranting would ease things up.
Right now, I'm going to find things to cheer me up! :D

I'm out accompanying people on shopping trips just about everyday this week. Today, it was my mother's day off so i accompanied her to go shopping too.

And mom's spoiling me by treating me to Sakae Sushi for lunch. She's so nice lah, wanting to make the outing enjoyable for both of us. :) We had kimchi ramen and the Sakae set lunch. I was struggling to eat because my recent appetite has decreased to a quarter of the original amount. Pffft! :/

We decided to go to Jurong Point because we heard about its new extension. So yea, the whole place is really big now. Just one thing, almost every corner of the new extension has a freaking shoe shop. Now imagine the gleeful faces of shoe lovers. -.-

My mom and i were walking around halfway when suddenly, SOMEONE POUNCED ON ME FROM BEHIND. Dun-dun-dun-dun! It was.. Shihui! Haha! What a small world, bumping into her at JP. She was there with her mother and brother too (didn't see them though). She then joined my mother and i in walking around.

Chatted with Shihui while my mother was checking out stuff for herself. It's good she finally bought something because she's one fussy buyer! I managed to get a shirt for myself too. Oh, and applied for This Fashion membership. $10 for 2 years worth of discounts. :D

Said bye to Shihui and headed for Westmall just to pass away the next one or two hours. I got my base hair dye from Watsons! I have swapped from Loreal to Hoyu. No lah, just kidding. I just wanted a more opaque base. My current colour is like a range of brown depending on the light intensity. The Hoyu Beauteen series currently gives a free tube of temporary hair dye with each box. The promoter was so sweet. She helped me get the pastel pink and blue ones because those on the shelf are all yellow. Yayness. :D

Oh oh. I found a super fun PSP game. Taiko no Tatsujin! It's a rhythm-based game. You know those drums used for Japanese festivals? Combine that with J-Pop songs coupled along with vibrant quirky animations. It's really addictive!

If we can't fly through the sky, there's no reason to not die.

Esther returned from Yunnan a few days ago. Met up with her for an outing today. Thanks for the keychain and candy! I was amazed by her group's drama-filled service learning trip. What with the police involvement, an old guy getting arrested for trying to get fresh with a female student, and the charismatic police chief. Haha! Drama lah! :D

Esther's friend recommended her this cafe called V8 Cafe. It's found at Level 3 of Bugis Junction, towards the far end.

Here we are, V8 Cafe!

I really didn't expect this photo to be so clear until i can read the description ._."

Woohoo, creamy corn soup and garlic bread.

Dun-dun-dun-dun! The V8 signature dish. ;O

Nice ambience for a cafe. There were many LCD screens broadcasting the film, Kungfu Panda too.

Walked around some shops after that. But every shop is selling christmas gifts so it's pointless to think of shopping there. Took neoprints before leaving for Clarke Quay.

The one shop we wanted to visit in Clarke Quay was Girl's Talk. A shop selling a wide variety of accessories which are expensive but unique in design. There was only a vacant unit there. Soooo.. I'm guessing they either 'dao bi' or moved.

We happened to catch a live performance at the concourse.

Four volunteers were selected from the crowd to hold the straps supporting the ladder while the performer climbs to the top.

The volunteers released the straps simultaneously and the guy is left balancing at the top. :O

The two of us along the edge and talked for a bit. It felt so good, sitting at a breezy spot and talking about life.

Headed for Liang Court. I love LC! Everything's Japanese here.

I had Esther try out the chocolate banana gelato crepe too. Hohoho. This time, i requested for green tea gelato!

I wonder why my dark circles seem so bad in this photo -.-

We explored Meidi-Ya as well. This time, i bought.. A packet of Japanese rice and seaweed sheets! I want to try making Japanese food. So first up, onigiri! My parents were amused by my random purchase. And my mother was like, why make onigiri and not sushi? Lol!

Had a bowl of pork chilli udon too. The stall with the chewy udon. We decided to share because we two were feeling full but wanted to try the udon. There was a young Japanese boy with his mother and brother, waiting for food. I noticed him looking at me so i smiled at him. Then he grinned back. :D

Just yesterday, i was smiling to a mynah on my way home. The mynah craned its neck to look at me while i walked past. Lol!

All my funny incidents when i smile.. :)

Yay for waterworks :)

Esther mentioned life in Singapore is boring and that she would like to work overseas. I can relate to that. Why are humans contented with living a mundane life? So afraid to be different from everyone for fear of being ostracised. There's no creativity or originality. Following the same 9 to 5 cycle, doing the same things everyday.. Why don't they get sick of it? Everyone follows the same fashion, follows the same rules, never doing anything taboo. BORING LA.

Nabilah told me in one of our conversations that i seemed a lot more upbeat compared to last semester. So it's true. Now that i'm not tied down, i'm free to fly. Free to do things my way and soar above everyone. It's like a drug that i can get addicted to.

The below quote is from my current favourite manga. Perfectly summarises my beliefs in life.

If we can't fly through the sky, there's no reason to not die.

Off-topic: Neuro is hot hot hot! Lol ;)

I was interested in the Cambodia community service trip so i went for the briefing today. Two years ago, right after i had completed my community service in a rural Dabo village in Yunnan, i thought to myself that i want to do community service in Cambodia. It's nice to do your part for the world.

So yes. It's (sorta) disappointing. I was expecting something more grueling than my Yunnan trip. Being able to sleep and bathe in a motel everyday. Having proper toilet system. There's even a laundry service for us. And working 6 hours a day with long breaks. I had none of that basic luxury when i was in Yunnan ok. -.-

I still feel like laughing when i remember someone took a photo of the shit and fat, white, wriggling maggots in the toilets of the village. The kind with a hole in the ground for you to do your business. LOL!

Went to find some FS teachers after that because a couple of people wanted to get forms for the Sydney trip too. Bumped into Ms Lin and Ms Marlene and said hi. We ended up having to find Mr Khaw to get the forms. That done, we headed to South Canteen to makan.

Woon Ching, Nabilah, Jasmine, Wan Wen and I sat there chatting for so long. There was loads to gossip and joke about. Really had fun talking to them :) And now you guys know i'm not as simple as i look. I'm not neither an ally or foe. But i'll always be there for my friends when they truly need my help or company.

We suddenly hit on the idea of creating a new class blog since the old one's gone. So we headed to the library to get started. So fun lah, searching for blogskins, thinking of ideas to spice up the blog as a team.

To all FS0803 peeps, the link is:
http://foodscience0803.blogspot.com

The blog is still naked for now. Lol.

Two of the authors at work.

Look, we are playing around with HTML codes. Ooh la la :D

I bought this puzzle from Kinokuniya on Friday. There are many designs and different difficulty levels to choose from. Mine's level 3. It's a waste of money to buy level 1 and 2 since it costs $16.90 for one. Lol.

I happen to like lock-and-key designs so i got this one.

It's easy to find the solution to separating the two pieces. Just observe the design carefully. Every design is there for a purpose.

Took a few minutes to find the solution but 30mins to separate the two. Geez. I'm still trying to find a faster way to separate the pieces.

Solving these kind of puzzles really takes things off my mind. :)

Last common test, physics. Then the holidays officially began! Decided to go to Orchard for some window shopping. That said, i still ended up buying stuff. :O

That's a huge christmas tree!

The annual toys sale at the basement.

We couldn't resist taking a photo with the bear :)

Tsk tsk, Shihui is playing with the pens there ;x

/coughs coughs coughs.

A hot lover who is kinky, horny, suave, sexy and fit. Gosh, who's this hottie of a boyfriend? :D

Cat: Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooowww!!

Three cute little kitties.

Woon Ching's being mean to the kitties :O

Another cute design.

Aha! Caught someone admiring her 'flawless complexion'!

Bacon and cheese takoyaki, anyone? ;)

Woon Ching is attempting to pose with every christmas tree she sees. LOL.

There's always something amusing in taking photos of your reflection.

At the Heeren. Shihui didn't want to take the photo with us :(

A christmas tree made entirely from Coca Cola bottles!

Ok, Woon Ching and her christmas trees :D

Adorable :)

Finally got the arm warmers i was looking for. I regretted buying this design lah. Because when i went to the Far East Plaza, i saw nicer designs. Maybe i should get those too -.-

I went to Kinokuniya by myself after Woon Ching and Shihui took a bus home. I can spend a long time in a bookstore so i didn't feel like making them wait for me. Bought some manga before meeting my mom to take a train to Yishun. Met my father before having dinner at Ishi Mura, the new Japanese food court at Northpoint's new wing. It's not entirely Japanese. Somewhat local-turned-Japanese so don't expect too much. The takoyaki and Japanese pizza are nice, though. :)

ABOUT ME

Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm Charmaine. I graduated from NYP with a Diploma in Food Science, but I'd rather eat a smelly sock than go into that field. I'm hoping to become a psychology undergraduate this year. In the meantime, I'm working as a waitress at SoHo7 Cafe & Bistro (I may just be the one serving you!). Do pop by for our freshly roasted coffee and yummy grilled food, and say hi to our cheery (and somewhat gaga) team! :D

CHARMAINE CHEONG.

I’m a somebody and a nobody. I’m rational and emotional. I’m critical but I’m non-judgemental.

I like my things categorized by types and chronologically. I like taking photos to preserve the moments of my life. I like dystopian literature. I like reading Wikipedia articles at random. I like travelling to foreign lands and seeing the world. I like long conversations over good food. I like pop and classical music. I like guitars. I like cats. I like writing random, mushy letters and notes to the people important to me. I have a whole long list of things that I like, but you’ve got to get to know me better to know them all.
