Real Total Enclosure Suit; My Specs

A few of the questions I have received pertain to my "ideal suit" for long-term, total enclosure. So, I figured that I would go ahead and lay out my "dream suit" as it were. (That's probably the shortest 'intro' I've ever done.)

As I've said in my past entries, in order to fully ascend to a permanence in Rubber-Space, one must be surrounded by, and consumed by as much Rubber as possible. The senses must be overloaded with it- everything one touches, sees, smells, and tastes must be rubber (or as much as feasible). I kept that in mind while researching and "designing" my perfect suit.

First, let me start with the thickness. I would suggest something no thinner than .45, and no thicker than .8 mm. Ideally, I would choose a thickness of .6mm to .65mm. There are several reasons for this. First, thicker suits are generally more durable with less chances of ripping/tearing/etc. Secondly, they are harder to "stretch" but still pliable enough to make movement comfortable, with only the slightest bit of a "springing" sensation during said movement.

Thicker latex also reduces, or rather changes, how one experiences the sensation of touch. With thinner garments, one basically touches/feels items, but the sensation is altered slightly. Essentially, "you are still touching a can, or a rope, or a table, with the actual sensation dulled or modified only slightly." With thicker grades of rubber, the sensation changes. One is no longer experiencing the sensation 'directly', but rather how the item affects the rubber. Essentially, "You aren't feeling the rope, or table, or can... you are feeling the impression of it through the rubber". I feel that this sensation is conducive to bringing one to Rubber-Space, and essential for the transformation to a permanence in said space.

Next comes the issue of entry. I've come across many "neck entry" catsuits, with the only 'drawback' being the fact that there is generally no collar. With the wonders of getting things custom made, one can request a collar with zips on the side that would unzip enough to let one enter through the neck. If whoever the vendor/seller of the item is can not customize it as such, I plan on having the suit be shoulder entry. Regardless of the placement of the zip, I would have two zippers on either side, which would allow me to lock them together to prevent me from unzipping it on my own, and thereby exiting the suit of my own accord.

After thinking about entry and creating a "tamper proof" way to 'seal me into the suit', I began to think about methods to access the vital parts of my anatomy (see: cock/balls/anus). A simple attached cock sheath mostly solves the issue of cock/ball access. Of course, I would either modify the sheath (via customization through the vendor, or by my own means) to include either a small reinforced hole through which I could ejaculate/urinate through. This hole would be reinforced, and complete with a thin, flexible (yet still pretty sturdy) tube. Over my cockhead I would wear a tubed condom, which would in turn connect to the small tube in the sheath allowing me normal ejaculation/urination capabilities.

To solve the problem of anal access I would include an anal sheath. Either through vendor or independent customization, the 'business end' of the sheath would be open which would allow me to defecate normally (or as close to normally as possible). Upon considering this, I realized a few problems, which were exascerbated by another chosen feature of my suit. (The problems & solution will be elaborated upon a bit further on).

Of course the suit would have attached gloves, and feet. However, I am unsure (even now) if I would prefer to have the suit w/o feet and manually attach a pair of rubber toe-socks, or if I would want standard "bootie" type feet/socks attached.

The hood would be separate, and would be designed in the following way: Every facet would be made to measure (distance from chin to forehead, distance between pupils, width of mouth, width/height of eyeholes, placement of nostril holes) so that it would fit exceptionally well and line up perfectly. The eyeholes would be lensed, ideally with dark tinted lenses (or mirrored lenses) which would keep my eyes hidden from view while still allowing me acceptable vision. I am still deciding whether or not I would want the eye-holes to be "larger" so I would have an unobstructed field of vision, or if the holes would be smaller which would give me a sort of "tunnel vision". The hood would come with an attached mouth feature (available from Rubber's Finest) which is actually a mold that sits over the lips & teeth with a sheath for the tongue.

It is at this juncture that the problem I mentioned earlier needed to be addressed. Eating solid foods requires chewing. Chewing will inevitably wear out the mouth-feature, as well as provide solid stool- which when passed, could result in my anal sheath being forced out due to the muscle contractions of my anus/sphincter/etc.

To remedy this, I did some searching and came across a very healthy liquid diet. In conjunction with liquid intake (protein/nutrition shakes) food is more or less liquified into a blender. The result would be softer, even totally liquid stool. (I put myself on the diet for a few days to test it out, and that was my result). This translates into virtually no chewing on intake (therefore less wear & tear on the mouth feature), and less physical strain/muscle contraction upon exit (less chance of forcing the anal sheath out).

As an additional perk, this diet can be administered through a feeding gag, meaning that I could be gagged for extended periods of time. Also, I could wear an anal plug for extended periods of time, providing it was inflatable (inflated so that minimal muscle contractions won't force it out) and had a small tube/opening for an enema attachment (which would allow the liquid to exit quite easily) which could be plugged or opened at my (or ideally my Owner's) discretion.

During the times I would be allowed to walk around (err... crawl around?) for times when I was not in bondage (doing chores, etc) I would also have one tube running from the opening in the anal plug (when worn, which would be whenever said hole wasn't being used) and another from the cock sheath (possibly by having a tubed condom over the sheath). Both of these tubes would run to collection bags that would be strapped to either leg, or if my Owner was feeling particularly evil, to a "Y" shaped joiner and then into an inflatable gag w/ feeding tube.

In addition to the mouth feature there would be attached nostril tubes of a thin, flexible rubber, which would slip up, preferably into my sinus cavities. Ideally these tubes would be flush with the nostril holes in the hood for the maximum "seamless" look.

The hood would have a long 'tail' so that it would tuck under the collar of my catsuit, and ideally would rest a bit on my shoulders in a similar fashion as a cowl. The back would be zip-up, or lace-up (and laced with a thinner string) with a zip-up flap over it.

The tail of the hood, as I mentioned would be tucked under the collar of my suit. Over the suit collar would come a simple rubber neck corset. Since most of them lace up, I would like to have one made (or do some modifying myself) for a flap that zips up to cover the laces. The zip flap would have 2x zippers which would allow it to be locked. Possibly, a thick rubber collar over the neck corset which would also be locked on.

And then comes the footwear. Ideally I would wear knee high ballet boots, or 'regular' knee high boots with a 5 inch heel minimum. A pair of strappy pumps with a comparable heel would work as well. All would have to be fitted with some method to lock them on.

And, there's my "basic" dream suit for prolonged total encasement. Of course things can be added as needed (arm binders, mitts, other hoods, gasmasks, harnesses, gags, cuffs & other restraints) but this would be (for lack of a better term) my "permanent" suit.

I have put a lot of time/effort into "designing" the suit, with the goal of maximizing the amount of rubber. I wanted to make it more than "total enclosure", I wanted to have as much rubber *ON* and *IN* me as possible, while still retaining natural body functionality. I believe I have accomplished it, and am currently saving to purchase the suit (and many other things), so as to begin my physical road to transformation.

My Wishlist

Continuing on my "not so serious" trend for the moment, what personal blog (despite how insightful and deep it is usually intended to be) would be complete without the obligatory wishlist? Certainly not this one.

Below I have listed some things I am absolutely DYING to have. Some of these are on the "less expensive" side, while others are can be QUITE pricey (All prices are subject to change at seller's discretion, and are listed EXCLUDING shipping). Hey, they don't call it a wishlist for nothing, right?

I've scoured the net to compile this list and have tried my best to find multiple places to purchase the items. If it is a rather "common, easy to find item" I will mostly just post a single link, denote it with an asterisk, and you can get it from wherever you want.

I certainly know that there are very few acts of altruism, and the understanding that the toys and gear I've listed will be directly used in my soon-to-be rubber conversion may not be enough. So, maybe I could provide something for you in return: Definitely a mention in my blog, maybe some pics or vids of me using the items, maybe a private cam session, or maybe something "more". ;)

I definitely want to stress that I'm not attempting to "be bought", or to come across that my writings/insights/etc come at a price. I'm merely showcasing some things I would absolutely LOVE to have, that I simply can't obtain at the moment or within the immediate/intermediate future. Consider it a donation, a way to say thanks, or just helping me in my ultimate transformation. Also, before I lay out my list- if anyone is interested in helping me out and the item is something that has multiple colors/sizes then PLEASE contact me at rubbertendencies@gmail.com to get my sizes/color preferences/optional accessories/etc. (hint on the color preferences: BLACK!)

Questions & Answers; A Respite

Hello everyone!

Today, I thought that I would take a break from my usual 'deep thoughts' about rubber, my introspection, my perverse philosophical pondering and do something a little more "blah".

I receive e-mails on occasions asking about things I've written in my blog. I usually attempt to answer the person directly, but thought to myself "Why not make these questions & answers available to everyone else?". And, that's just what I am planning to do.

If anyone has any questions about anything I write- please, please, please, feel free to e-mail me at rubbertendencies@gmail.com . I would LOVE to answer them, really! And, if you send me a really insightful question I will post it and the answer here. Oh, also, if I get enough questions and such, I will post an occasional entry that just deals with questions and answers. So, get to it- I'm anxious to know what's on your minds!

Rubberism, Rubberization & Rubber-Space; A Series of Critical Essays; Conclusion

Before I begin on my next endeavor, I think I should wrap up the previous essays with a conclusion. Something to draw all three facets together in such a way that the parts aren't seen individually, but as part of the long, all inclusive process that they comprise.

Rubber-Space is the ultimate goal. It is more than a change in one's state of mind. It is more than the crafting of an illusion, it is a change in one's state of being. Consider it the Rubberist's Nirvana. A state where the Rubberist forgets that they are a "person playing a role" or a "person experiencing a stimuli" but rather are an entirely new existence who is part of the stimuli he/she is experiencing.

If Rubber-Space is the destination, then Rubberization is the journey. If Rubber-Space is the finished product, then Rubberization is the assembly line. It is broad in the sense that it is a term which governs a set of behaviors, or thoughts- turning the consistent appearance of these behaviors and thoughts into a methodology, a discipline. It is also specific in the fact that while it can refer to one's overall ascension to Rubber-Space in the long run, it also is the act of moving through states of mind toward a state of being in individual instances.

If Rubberization is a process, then Rubberism are the boundaries and rules of this process. A Rubberist operates within these confines, adhering to these protocols as if they were an edict or an established methodology.

The following analogy sums the relationship up:

Think of the term Football (American football, as opposed to 'Soccer'). The term football has a set of connotations; punt, fumble, pass, rush, tackle, fan, touchdown, toss, kick. Many of these connotations are exclusive to the term Football, but many are not. However, the ones that are not (basketball has 'passing', all sports have 'fans', soccer has 'kick') each mean something entirely different when associated with football as opposed to any other sport. Think of these terms as various activities, or scenes, or fetishes; they can exist and overlap other broader schemas, but when paired with Rubber take on a distinctly different 'feel' and 'understanding'. This set of connotations, practices, and protocols is Rubberism.

Now, think of playing a game of American football. There are quarters, plays, formations, players, movements, scoring, turnovers, downs... etc. Each play takes the individuals farther into the game, closer to its completion, closer to the goal: winning. The act of playing the game "football" as we define and know it, and moving to the ultimate goal is akin to experiencing Rubber as we define and know it (Rubberism), and moving to the ultimate goal (Rubberization).

Finally, there is the ultimate goal. In Football, it is to complete the game with the intent of winning. In terms of Rubber, it is obtaining "Rubber-Space" an altered state of being.

Just as "Hinduism" is the study and practice of the Hindu religion (or any religion), Rubberism is the study and practice of the "Rubber". Just as Hindus (or any religious practitioners) have rites or rituals or traditions, so do Rubberists (Rubberization). And, just as Hindus (or any religious practitioners) have an ultimate goal, so do Rubberists (Rubber-Space).

In short: Rubber-Space is the goal, Rubberization is the actions taken to achieve that goal, and Rubberism is the discipline of undertaking those actions via a systematic, disciplined approach.

Permanence in Rubber-Space- What It Means & How To Achieve it:

Permanence in Rubber-Space- What It Means & How To Achieve It

Section 1- What It Means
Part 1: Preface

After taking quite some time to really iron out the concept of Rubber-Space, and writing an essay on it, I thought of something before posting it. If Rubber-Space is a temporary change in one's state of being, how can one go about lengthening the duration of that period of change? Obviously, that is the ultimate goal of most people.

And, why shouldn't it be? It is a realm of happiness, of content, far removed from the world as one knows it. No longer is a submissive a young business professional, or millworker, or teacher posing as a rubber object, a rubber doll, a pony boy/girl, a puppy or kitten, or a Rubber Master/Mistress... but rather, for a short period of time they ARE that rubber doll, that rubber object, that pony boy/girl, that pup or kitten, that Master or Mistress. They are free to exist without worry, without a sense of forced obligations. Their physical and mental capabilities are no longer spread so thin across so many various avenues. No, they are simply governed by the defaults of their exustence, if only for a short period of time. What a pleasant existence, to have but one overbearing desire, with (comparitively) limited duties.

If this becomes one's ultimate goal... the question that is inevatibly asked is "how long can it be extended?" I would postulate that it can be lengthened any amount of time, for only a few more minutes, to a few hours, all the way up to permanently. Yes, you heard correclty- I feel that this altered state of being, this occupance within Rubber-Space can be permanent. It is certainly one of my deeper, darker, 'less talked about' goals- but one that is never far from the top of my mind.

Upon coming to the conclusion that it can be extended beyond the realm of the temporary and into the world of permanence, the next question is how? How can one ultimately obtain this new state of being no longer as an "altered state" but rather the "default"? I realized immediately that it depends on the role (if any) of the individual, whether they are Dominant or submissive or switch, or neither. I again realized that I can only speak from a submissive's point of view, as I am more in tune with that state of mind as I have not only studied/researched it, but also experience it. And so, as per my norm I thought purely from obtaining this constant Rubber-Space immersion from the submissive's point of view, and therefore this will be written from that angle.

It was at that point that I began to think hard on bridging the gap between theory crafting and real application. It didn't take me long to realize that if gear is directly linked to the ascension to Rubber-Space, then it should in fact be essential to prolonging one's stay. Almost immediately I began to look back on a previous post of mine, entitled "Rubberization and Reeducation: From Fantasy to Reality" (which I have since deleted).

At the time I published it, I was composing the initial draft of my essay which focused on Rubber-Space. I had begun to see the link between "long-term encasement", "re-education", and Rubber-Space. Upon looking back on it now I see that the post was written from a point of view which was removed from the broader concept. In short, I was writing it from the perspective of simply wanting to experience it for its own merits. This was admittedly a bit shallow, or hasty of me. Only after sitting down and thinking and connecting the dots did I realize that I truly wanted to experience it for its integral part in obtaining long-term, even permanent Rubber-Space. Not wanting to misguide anyone, especially myself I immediately deleted it after the publication of my third essay in the "Rubberism, Rubberization, and Rubber-Space" series. And now, I plan on revisiting it, rewriting it in terms of both the steps which need to be taken and how these steps play a role in this permanent ascension into Rubber-Space.

Like my previous set of essays, this will be broken down into smaller sections so as to analyze each facet in detail. Additionally, I can only speak from the submissive viewpoint.

Part 2: What Is Permanence In Rubber-Space?

The idea of "permanence" in Rubber-Space could be considered more or less a complete transformation; physically, mentally, and spiritually. It is a transition from a person who merely attains and experiences Rubber-Space, into an entirely new entity whose existence is defined by it.

As I said, it is essentially a transformation. When one is in "rubber-space" they no longer are bothered by the toils of everyday life... these problems simply do not exist for that person, for that amount of time. Only sensation, limited understanding, a drive and longing for more Rubber. Of course, if one makes this transition from Rubber-Space being merely an experience, to it being an existence... these toils and troubles, these slings and arrows of daily life will simply cease to exist. The person is overcome and consumed by a greed for, and need of Rubber... a need to please, a rush of sexuality and debauchery.

Naturally, if these "human" thoughts become extinct, then the person can no longer be called "human" in a sense. It is similar to the debate over people in vegetative or severely mentally handicapped conditions; they are essentially devoid of any "human" thoughts. They may retain human features, human motions and bodily mechanics... but there is a part of them that is distinctly... inhuman.

In Rubber-Space, most "thoughts" are abandoned, discarded. There is no "conscious" thought, but rather it is simply a mass of urges that define the person temporarily. Bearing that in mind, if one attains a permanence in Rubber-Space, then they are in turn defined by these urges, they become their modus operandi, their reason for existing, the very definition of their existence. In short, Rubber Worship becomes their religion, Rubber-Space their Nirvanna, and Rubber their God. (I will elaborate more on this in a future post that may "intersect" the sequence of this series of essays.)

Essentially, the attainment of permanent occupation in Rubber-Space creates a being of its own...

... A Rubber Object. A creature who is governed solely by the need for Rubber, the need (from the submissive side) to please, to be used, the need (from the Dominant side) to control, to use Rubber to further that control.

Part 3: Preparation

As I mentioned before, a permanence in Rubber-Space is akin to a transformation. The transition is a harsh one, both in how it is accomplished as well as the end result. Consequently, it is something that one can not simply run headlong into during a fit of extreme sexual arousal. It requires heavy thought; it requires spiritual introspection; it requires a degree of physical preparation.

At the risk of coming across as "elitist", I will venture to say that the 'casual Rubberist' does not have the desire to undergo this "transformation", or may write it off simply as a fantasy, or is not willing to put in the effort and accept the sacrifices to obtain this permanence in Rubber-Space. However, I do not mean to insinuate that a "casual Rubberist" is in any way "inferior" to one who seeks this ultimate Rubber enlightenment.

To put it in the form of an analogy, imagine the "casual Rubberist" as a devout religious person. They regularly attend services, help out in their community, have a close relationship with their Diety of choice. Now, imagine one wanting to make transition as a nun, or a priest... one who is willing to extend themselves farther for a higher power. One is not "superior" to the other, though one is certainly more "devout". It boils down to merely choosing different paths. Neither is inherently "better", simply different, simply more "befitting" the individual.

But I digress. The decision is simply not for everyone. However, if one decides to pursue this aim, then they must undergo a taxing self-assessment, a period of preparation.

This introspection and thought *must* be more than simply asking "Is this what I want?". It must be taken in steps, with one answer leading to the next. If these series of answers do not end with a decision to surrender permanently to Rubber (with or without reasonable compromise), then the decision simply should not be made.

Some of these questions are obvious; "What will happen to the rest of my life?", "What about my family, my friends?", "Is there someone who can help me reach this goal, and if not am I willing to invest the time/effort/energy into searching for them?" Some are not, and it is these less obvious answers that are distinctly personal and must be addressed by each individual as they see fit.

Again, these questions can't be answered "on the spot". Each one takes painstaking thought and introspection. A deep soul search, an exploration of all the possible scenarios and outcomes. Unfortunately, many people (myself included at one time) more or less reach a 'wall' in answering them. That is to say, either one question or an aspect of a question will simply thwart them via indecision. The person wrestles with the two sides of the question's coin, wondering which side to call. Often times, this indecision can be what ultimately stops the dream, the desire, the need to attain permanence in Rubber-Space. I wish I could offer more advice, more instruction than simply "answer it in your own time, in your own way", but that is all I can reasonably say. However, I can additionally offer my own anecdote of how I ultimately came to my conclusion.

Disclaimer: this was simply what *I* chose, and I do not condone/recommend it as an option for anyone else, and undertaking this route comes with its own risks and hazards and responsibilities, none of which I can/will be held accountable for.

I read somewhere in my younger days of people using cough syrup to get high. Cough syrup contains a certain chemical (I will not list it, as I am not recommending trying it) which acts as a dissociative at higher dosages.

Dissociative drugs are "a class of psychoactive drugs which are said to reduce or block signals to the conscious mind from other parts of the brain. Although many kinds of drugs are capable of such action, dissociatives are unique in that they do so in such a way that they produce hallucinogenic effects, which may include sensory deprivation, dissociation, hallucinations, and dream-like states or trances." -Wikipedia

Essentially, they 'close out' the conscious mind to a certain degree, varying among dosage levels. The "trip" induced by the chemical in cough syrup is characterized by 4 "plateaus" with markedly different effects. The higher plateaus (especially the fourth) are beyond 'recreational' use and result in almost "shamanic" experiences, and is used for meditative or creative purposes. Essentially, the conscious mind is blocked out. The "clatter" in one's head is erased, leaving behind no conscious thoughts. It is basically a "reversal" of the norm; instead of sitting with eyes closed and having to consciously block out all your thoughts, they are done so naturally; and one must purposefully think of something. It is one of the rare occasions where one can sit, eyes closed, and think of absolutely nothing unless actually WANTING to. Before taking anything, I suited myself up in my catsuit, slipped in my vibrating & inflatable anal plug, cock sheath, vibrating cock rings, hood, gloves, gasmask with rebreather. I wanted to make sure that my entire mind and body was focused on Rubber.

Upon taking the required dosage recommended for this plateau according to various physical attributes, I waited for the trip to begin. It took awhile, and during that time I made a conscious effort to think about Rubber, to think about my dilemma, my mental hang-ups, etc etc. I focus my conscious mind on the issue at hand. Slowly, as the trip took hold this conscious thought slipped away, and was replaced simply with "feeling" the remnant of that thought. As I ascended through the plateaus (which took a bit of time) I found that my mind was still. I once more brought myself to thinking about the issues at hand, and began to explore these issues. It was more of a 'soul-search' than an appeal to any level of reason or rationality. It is impossible for me to put into words what happened, or to describe the process to you (because I (a) can't remember that well and (b) because it is simply inexplicable). Suffice it to say that the questions weren't answered by a "yes or no" as we know them traditionally, but by feelings. I never once thought "yes" to a question, or thought "I should do ______" to a scenario, I merely FELT what I should do. To some degree, it was a very... spiritual feeling, in a way.

Upon deciding that one will undertake this as a 'life goal', one must understand that the preparation does not stop there. In fact, more preparation is required. It is far more than simply saying "Yes, this is what I want..." and haphazardly forming a plan to make it a reality. No, the spirit and the mind must be prepared. For, when these are prepared to accept and strive for the end goal, the body will follow suit.

I could go on for hours and hours listing every single facet that must be addressed, and how to address them in a somewhat universal way- but that would not only take an extremely long time, but it would also detract from the personal nature of this preparation stage. One must understand that the "finding" of these issues, and one's conscious resolution of them beforehand is a vital part of the process. They serve as progress markers, as points of reflection that let the person know how far they have come and that they are making progress. The more facets of preparation that one finds, the better. It forces one to devote more time and energy to the goal, and it will ultimately ease the transition.

Part 4; How To Obtain Permanence In Rubber-Space

Ah, now we get to the cruxt of the issue at hand. Now that one has made the decision, and has prepared one's self for the ultimate transformation, one can begin to undertake the physical journey.

As I mentioned before in some of my essays, Rubber-Space is obtained by traveling through states of mind to arrive at a state of being. You may recall that I stated that one must travel through these states in a progression to arrive at the ultimate destination for a single instance of Rubber-Space. The same is true for this "Permanent" position. That is to say, one must progress to that point and instead of being brought back down, one must be held there. During that time, the individual must be stripped, the concept of the "self" annihilated by any means necessary, the idea of a "normal" world eradicated from their mind. Essentially, once they are brought to that space they must be (for lack of a better term), 'reprogrammed' while there to continually operate at that level, to stay there - permanently.

To create an analogy, imagine you are upgrading the operating system of your computer. You insert the operating system CD, make a few choices and adjustments, and let the program do its thing. You are creating a "new" environment, an installation environment per se. If you abort the process before the repgrogram/upgrade is complete, the process fails. However, once the upgrade is complete, the computer system is successfully operating in an entirely new environment, on its own, with little to no trace of the old operating system remaining.

Of course it should go without saying that this is something that can not be obtained overnight. Nor in a few days, or weeks. It is a long, arduous, time consuming method. At this point, I will stress the fact that this must be done with the help of another individual, either in a strict D/s setting/relationship, or some sort of comparable relationship where there is an "administrator" and the "subject". For ease of use and understanding, I will refer to these roles/positions in common D/s terms; the Dominant, and the submissive.

As time consuming and hard as it is on the Dominant, it is infinitely harder on the submissive due to the training that it (the submissive) must undergo. Part of the preparation that I mentioned before includes creating a detailed, well thought out, well planned, and realistic training regimen. No stone can be left unturned.

I have spent many, many, MANY hours developing a training regimen for myself for when I get the opportunity to realistically make the jump into permanence in Rubber-Space. This regimen (for example purposes) is pages upon pages long and details all sorts of things; from required gear, to design of my catsuit, methods of prolonged encasement, 'reprogramming' techniques, feeding and bathroom schedules/methods, etc etc. Again, preparation is the key.

At any rate, I personally believe that several things must be in place/utilized in order to maximize the efficiency of this transition. First and foremost is the presence of rubber, as much as possible for as long as possible. Secondly, is the creation of mental weakness, a prolonged period where the psyche is exposed, becomes vulnerable to manipulation and crafting. Thirdly, there must be a union between what is programmed and rubber. Essentially, the mind must be peeled back layer by layer until core is left, naked and vulnerable. This core must be then metaphorically wrapped in Rubber, and the layers must be replaced, one at a time, with Rubber.

The specific methods used are entirely up to the individuals who construct them, and I can not be held accountable for the results of any methods chosen. It can range from harsh and evil to mild. However, I believe that the "harsher" the environment/regimen, the more powerful the results. The more the mind and body and spirit is stressed and broken down, the more vulnerable it becomes- the more it can be molded and construed, plied and prodded to create a Rubber Being, one who dwells permanently in Rubber-Space.

Rubberism, Rubberization, and Rubber-Space: A Series Of Critical Essays- Rubber-Space

Rubberism, Rubberization, and Rubber-Space: A Series Of Critical Essays
Rubber-Space

This part has been a long time in coming, and I apologize for the delay in producing it. That being said, on with finishing these essays up!

As I mentioned in the previous essay, the process of rubberization is one of slow, gradual, and incremental acclimation and eventual transformation. The ultimate end to all of this, is something that I like to call "Rubber-Space".

Before I get into the specifics of "Rubber-Space", and the meat of this essay, I do want to take some time to make a few things clear. While I will explain the concept of "Rubber-Space", be advised that the explanation comes from my own personal experiences and the research I have done in regards to conversing with other Rubberists. I also don't mean to insinuate a sense of elitism inasmuch that "THIS is what Rubber-Space is. And, THIS is the ULTIMATE goal of any TRUE Rubberist. If you don't see it that way, then YOU are WRONG."

As I mentioned before, the goals of each fetishist differ from person to person, as does the steps they take to achieve that goal. I am merely stating that in any fetishistic endeavor undertaken by those that see it as a "lifestyle" as opposed to "just kinky sex", there exists this desire to push and expand one's own limits, and to achieve some sort of "other-planar" experience or state of mind. Most know the term as "Sub-Space" (for submissives), "Dom/me-Space" (for Dominants), or "Head-Space" (a more or less all-encompassing term). Again, while each of these "spaces" are exclusive to each person, and different across the fetish board- there exists some similarity between them all.

As evident by both the title of this series of essays, and the directions they have taken I am choosing to focus on the concept of "Rubber-Space" as opposed to its description. This concept is explained as I define it, not only through my own personal experiences but also the experiences that have been recounted to me by other Rubberists.

I see Rubber-Space as more than a simple "state of mind". Or rather, I see one's "state of mind" as merely a facet, more specifically a transition or series of transitions to a state of being. The state of mind is important, and the transition between these states are important and deeply meaningful and powerful- but still it is not the ultimate aim. These changes in mental states, or mental perceptions are the stepping stones toward a state of being.

Perhaps now would be a good time to differentiate between my definition of a "state of mind" and a "state of being". To me, a "state of mind" is nothing more than a mood, or a feeling, or an altered perception. It is more akin to a person becoming apprehensive, or frightened when watching a horror movie; feeling upbeat and content on a bright sunny day. Essentially, some sort of external stimulus results in an altered "state of mind".

It is these states of mind that result in an individual being more receptive to their surroundings which in turn affect their physical urges, their emotions. In short, these changes in states of mind can be seen as the process of Rubberization. Perhaps the best way to explain it would be to offer an example:

A rubber-submissive begins to be progressively layered in rubber; first a catsuit, then the gloves and hood, next a gasmask. They are then placed in bondage; a simple 'self-hugging' straitjacket, a slip on leg binder. Next comes the inner layer of an inflatable sleepsack, then the inflation.

With each addition, the submissive moves farther and farther away from 'itself' but still maintains a degree of consciousness about its true identity. It merely becomes more receptive of its feelings of submission, its feelings of sexuality and becomes increasingly accepting of these feelings. It becomes more aware of the Rubber; the tightness, the feel, how it must look. Each new level of realization is the direct result of a higher ascension, the mark of another transition from, between, and to another state of mind.

A "state of being" is similar to a "state of mind", only much more... comprehensive, much more all encompassing. A change in one's 'state of being' is an entire departure from the realization of what one was, a total transformation to what one is. It is akin to... a state of suspended disbelief. One becomes totally immersed into the scene, into one's own self. Everything else falls away. The submissive is no longer a "person in a rubber suit, made to look like a rubber doll", they are the rubber doll. The Dominant is no longer "a person dressed in rubber attire, playing with their partner, playing the part of bizarre, twisted Rubber Dom/me. They simply are.

If changes in states of mind (rubberization) is the journey, then the total change in being (Rubber-Space) is the destination. Again, perhaps an all encompassing example, from my (the submissive's) point of view, would better explain the notion.

(Picking up where the last example left off):
An indeterminate time has passed. The submissive has progressed through various states of mind. The discomfort of stringent bondage has set in. The frustration of being unable to relieve that discomfort grows. The frustration feeds a feeling of both hopelessness and anger. Somewhere along the line, these two emotions mix with the pure, dripping, sexuality of it all and morph into another feeling altogether. The inevitable paradox of bondage. The submissive wants release... while still relishing in the frustration of getting that desire denied.

Eventually, the cycle begins to blur. At first at a slow speed, as one transitions from one state of mind to another. But, at some point these transitions no longer occur. No longer can emotions and feelings be distinguished from one another. Everything melds together into a blur, and coalesces. No longer are feelings, or emotions, or perceptions "triggered", and then passed. They are summed together to create a new existence, creating something else entirely, a new "state of being".

In this altered state of being, everything simply melts away. All that is left is acceptance (reluctant or willing) of what they have become, and ultimately being perfectly content with it.

Of course, this altered state of being is temporary. At some point, it slowly begins to fade; either out of necessity (time constraints when playing, physical things which must be attended to, etc) or simply because the mind and body slowly experience disconnect. No longer are they one, together, holding this new existence together, but are instead slowly moving apart. It is this movement, that defines Rubber-Space's temporality.

Of course-the goal is to remain in this altered state of being for as long as possible. And, why shouldn't it? Why should one want to move from an entirely different, new state of being back to the hum-drum, ho-hum person they were before?

The question is... how? How does one prolong that feeling? How long can it be obtained?

I feel that, with hard work and personal sacrifice it can be obtained constantly. No longer will the change in the state of being, occupation of this Rubber-Space be temporary. Instead, it will overwhelm and trump the "old existence", and replace it.

Rubberism, Rubberization, and Rubber-Space: A Series Of Critical Essays- Ruberization

Rubberism, Rubberization, And Rubber-Space: A Series Of Critical Essays
Rubberization

If Rubberism is in fact the overbearing schema, set of rules and boundaries, or methodolgy and system of thought pertaining to rubber, rubberization (or rubberisation, used interchangeably) is the dual-process of moving through and operating in these systems of thoughts toward the ultimate goal.

Note that I referred to it as a 'dual-process'. In essence, it is an all encompassing process of moving through and operating within the realm of Rubberism, and yet it is the individual processes and acts of 'rubbering up' and 'playing' in rubber. Perhaps this can be more clearly illustrated (and therefore explained) by focusing first on the individual instances, and then shifting toward the overall process while tying the two together.

Let us first begin with the actual acts of putting on rubber, or playing/scening in rubber. Most any rubber fetishist can agree that the actual act of putting on rubber puts them in another state of mind, or at least puts them on the road toward that destination. What this state of mind, or destination is, is very personal.

As such, I can only offer my personal take on the feelings that surface, and hope that others can see the rationale behind it, and if not agree with me exactly, at least can identify their own personal feelings with the process.

The process starts when you actually get the rubber out of the closet, drawer, and slip it out of the bag, or off the hanger. To hear it rustle against itself, making that instantly identifiable slippery, sticky, slapping sound as it does so... to watch it catch the light in its glossiness, to catch sight of the distorted reflections its pristine surface can provide.

The act of applying lubricant to both one's self and the rubber garment is yet another level. To watch it get slicker and slicker, shinier and shinier with each pass of the hand or cloth is enticing. I personally associate it as some sort of living entity, its glassy black jaws slavering, awaiting to consume me.

As the lubricant is applied to one's self, there is this feeling of... preparation. As if, you in your 'normal' state isn't fit, or to some degree worthy. Of course, there is the 'selfish' aspect of preparing yourself so that it slides on easier, and doesn't rip... and feels better. While this 'selfish aspect' of wanting it to 'feel better' seems rather dull on its own, I believe (and the thought is there, personally) that this desire to make it 'feel better' is driven because you don't want to 'waste' the opportunity. Essentially, seeing the opportunity of 'rubbering up' as a pleasurable experience, which ties the argument back to my statement that putting rubber on elicits a certain degree of pleasure, of positive apprehension.

And then there is the actual application. The sight of watching a leg, or an arm being devoured by this... alien material, watching it transform before one's own eyes into something almost... otherworldly is an expereince that can drive many to lust-driven fits. I can't count the number of times I've watched people's eyes glean over, or felt my 'conscious' self slowly start slipping away.

The process is a slow one. Often times it is slow out of necessity (so as not to rip or tear the rubber), but at times this is just a guise. For some reason, there is just something more erotic, more visually appealing to a 'transformation' if its done slowly. Perhaps it has something to do with the way the eye, or the mind works in the sense that it processes it or 'sees' the transformation differently, or it allows for more cognitive thought to be more thoroughly focused on the act, or the delay allows for all sorts of wonderous fantasies to form in vivid detail behind the open, glassed-over eyes.

Physically, this slow transformation process allows the wearer to feel it, to associated it with a more sensual sensation, to fully feel the effects of the lubed rubber sliding effortlessly across the slickened flesh.

And then comes the 'enclosing' where the zips are fastened, the buttons buttoned, the straps buckled, the wrinkles smoothed out. It represents the final step in this 'individual' rubberization process, this movement to this new state of mind. As I watch the zip of my catsuit slowly slide up my chest, I get an incredible rush, both physically and mentally.

The cold, lifeless material assimilates with the person, changing the relationship from a symbiotic one between to entities into a manifestation of a new entity altogether. One has discarded the 'normal self', has thrown their flesh aside and exchanged its imperfections and bland appearance for a perfectly smooth, shiny, flawless one. One truly gets the belief that they are no longer human, but something else entirely different, and to some degree entirely superior.

But, this is only the first step in the rubberization process on the 'individual instance' scale. One has only gotten 'dressed', and there is so much more left to do!

This is where the demarkation between submissive, dominant, switch, and 'non-polar' (for lack of a better word) attitudes in regards to rubberization becomes more prominent. Being strictly submissive, I can't elaborate in personal detail as to the dominant process, and so I will do the best I can to identify the relationship between the different, yet inextricably tied, feelings and thought processes.

From both ends, the 'rubberization' process is heavily influenced by play, whether in regards to a Power Exchange relationship (which I feel more dynamically impacts the process), a 'non-polar rubbery sex' relationship, or even solo play. That being said, different aspects of play drives different people, but all to the same goal.

For some, it is the systematic 'layering' of more rubber in conjunction with being bound and objectified into an 'artificial'... almost 'inorganic' object to a certain degree. Of course, the process of submitting and serving is just as important to this process as the rather 'static' process of being bound, and being left in this bound state. There are literally hundreds of other aspects of play that drive folks to the same end, however these hundreds of aspects still operate within the 'bounds' of rubberism (as defined in part 1). But, the cruxt of the argument, is that the process is there, and that play moves this process along.

And now we move from the 'individual instances' to the more long-term, overbearing process of rubberization. The best analogy I can come up with... is that it is very much akin to... a slow acclimation into the 'world of rubber' on increasingly deeper scales, leading to an assimilation into a sort of 'other' existence.

Just with anything in life, be it fetishistic, or vanilla, or anything in-between- one can not go 'whole hog' from the very beginning. It of course takes time, effort, constant self-evaluation (and re-evaluation), and the movement through different stages as new opportunities open and interests present themselves.

While rubberization happens on an individual, isolated scale to the person each and every time they 'rubber up' and play, it is the collective set of various 'rubber sessions' that form the broad scale of rubberization.

To draw off of the 'well' example from the previous essay, rubberization is the process which moves someone down the well, toward the ultimate goal. By the definition of the concept of the broad form of rubberization, it is the sum of the experiences which constitute steps deeper into the well.

Another way to analogize it, is to think of it as the production process of a car in an assembly line. There is the initial interest in the fetish, which is represented by the frame. Production has yet to start on the car, it is more or less lying dormant in the line, awaiting the various parts and accessories to be equipped and installed.

And then the frame is moved to the conveyer belt, where necessary items are put on, and features added. While I admit that I am not well versed in the intricacies of car assembly, I ask for some degree of leeway in forming the rest of the analogy.

As the car moves onto the assembly line, the fist things that are added to it are those which are vital to its construction, more or less 'base parts' such as tires, doors, seats, engine parts, etc. This is representative of experiencing the initial (and often times most important) steps in the rubberization process. Things like, trying on your first catsuit, shining your rubber for the first time, slipping a hood on for the first time; essentially, activities which are staples of the fetish, and staples in terms of helping the process move along. Just as in the assembly of a car, one can not move to the next step without experiencing this aspects first.

As the car moves along the assembly lines, additional items and features are installed. While not a necessity to the base functionality of the car, they in essence are 'improvements' to the car, and set it apart from others. It is the 'stops along the assembly line' that constitute the aforementioned 'individual instances', or 'scenes'.

Similarly, the individual experiences new and exciting things during this rubberization process. And with each new experience, the person begins to define their likes and dislikes, essentially deciding on what 'features' to equip themselves with, which helps them identify themselves in relation to other rubberists.

At long last, the assembly is finished...totally kitted out to a finished product. The production is complete. This rings true for the individual as much as the car. They have been... transformed from a 'blank shell' into something entirely different. Just as the car is entirely different from what the frame it had started out as, the individual has transformed into something else entirely.

The same analogy can be used for instances of play as well. As more and more layers of rubber, or activities, or... anything else, is introduced into the scene, the participants move farther and farther away from what they initially entered the scene as.

And as the individual is repeatedly 'transformed' into that new entity, they add to the collective sense of the rubberization process. And it is through this process that they have reached their final goal.

Rubberspace...

End Part 2; Rubberization
