Family Trip to the Christmas Tree Farm

After a great field trip to Old Baker Farm on Thursday with Liam's class, we decided to go back as a family to pick a Christmas tree out for our own house.  Although it wasn't the fir tree that we wanted, we had a great time and found the perfect tree for our house.

Here are pictures from our adventure:
Searching and searching for the perfect tree.

Liam found a stick and was pretending to cut down trees on his own.

Liam and Isla thought they found the perfect trees however, they were bigger than our house!
And.....finally we found the perfect tree!!!

Deciding which angle will be the best to cut it down.

Liam showing Siggy how to cut it down with his stick.

Isla wanted to get in the action and help daddy out.

 Liam helping out for real.

 Shaking out the needles.

Taking a hay ride around the farm.

Liam had more fun checking out the tractor.

We stopped to visit the animals.

Our last stop, riding the train!

Both kids were very tired and passed out on our way home.

Our tree all decorated and ready for Santa.

Liam's 1st Field trip

Today Liam got to go on his very first field trip for school, and Isla and I got to go along.
This morning was nice and cold 30 degrees, to help get us in the spirit of Christmas. We bundled up and went to Old Baker Farm to meet Liam's class. We had a lot of fun getting treats, picking out a tree for his class, meeting new baby animals, hay rides, and play time.  Isla did great and hardly said a peep the entire time we were there.

Here are a few pictures from our adventures.
Getting warm inside before we head out to pick a tree.
Listening to a story and enjoying apple juice and a candy cane.

 Two of Liam's friends
Liam liked the baby pine trees.
It took these 3 and 4 year olds forever to find the perfect tree, everyone had a gripe about each tree.  Eventually this is the one that they all agreed on.
Liam still wasn't satisfied and he wanted to take this one home, he was okay with me taking a picture of him with it instead.
Ms Michelle and "Granny", one of the little boys grandmothers, cutting down our tree.
Watching them shake out our tree.
 Petting a baby lamb
Watching all the birds on the farm.
Enjoying our lunch up in the loft of the barn.

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, I know it's a little late but I am just getting around to downloading the pictures.
We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends or family.
We had a house full of family for the holiday and enjoyed every minute of having them around.  Liam and Isla couldn't get enough of playing from morning until night with their cousins and the rest of us enjoyed eating and being together!
Here are a few pictures from our few days together.

We cooked one turkey in the oven and Siggy smoked a turkey in his smoker. No it is not burnt its just the rub that was on the turkey.  The smoked one was a lot tastier and juicier, but both were good!

We also opened Christmas gifts with the Miller side of the family since we wont see them again until New Years.

We also went for a nice hike around the lake at Oak Mountain State Park.
