A SYMBOL OF OUR GENERATION

Patti Dezi took this photo and wanted to share her view of the size and scope of the Memorial. I tried to incorporate this into the previous post, but blogger is having a little hiccup concerning photo resizing. We don't mean to dwell on this part of our past, but the war affected us individually and as a generation. It is part of who we are. THERE ARE PLACES I REMEMBER.....ALL MY LIFE

This is the first line of one of my favorite Beatles songs and I can't get the words out of my mind as I start a rather long post with pictures. Pat sent me some very emotionally powerful photos. I encourage all of you to either comment or find your own photos to share with the people who were there in your life through the 60's.

In Memory of

Lance Corporal Richard Raymond Stolarun

Let us not forget Lance Corporal Richard Raymond Stolarun, casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Marine Corps, LCPL Stolarun served our country until October 12th, 1969 in Quang, South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. Richard died from an undetermined explosion. His body was recovered. Richard was born on July 22nd, 1950 in New Britain, Connecticut.

LCPL Stolarun is on panel 17W, line 071 of the VietnamMemorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

So many of us grew up in the Corbin Heights Projects. Seeing my home all boarded up was certainly a shock. . Such wonderful memories of life in the projects, this is one picture I will put aside. I am sure we all look better than they do now......Patti Dezi

Regrets

It does not look very promising for me to get back to Connecticut for the reunion. I was really hoping that by the 40th I would be independently wealthy and would be able to travel and lodge at my leisure. Ha! That's one of those old pipe dreams we all share. I'm still working my tail off and I'm in my second career. I retired as a Master Sergeant from the US Army Military Police Corps. Now I'm a Deputy Sheriff (once it's in your blood you never get rid of it) and a Lieutenant of Correctional Officers at the 4th largest prison in Texas. (also in my blood). I'm having a great time going through the yearbook photos and scanning them into this blog. I feel as if I'm giving our younger selves a platform where they can be seen. Do you know where your yearbook is? Is there a picture or a section that you would like to see brought back to life? Please let me know. It would be my pleasure to post your requests. I have some other ideas bubbling around in this old head and I'll share them with you as soon as I talk them over with Patti. In the mean time, tell us what you want to see and read on these pages. If you're not keen of on posting for yourself, send it to me and I'll work with you to get your words, pictures, etc, posted just the way you would like. Well, that didn't take long! Patti wants you all to know how helpful Phil Bruzas has been in tracking down all of you who are hiding from her. With help from Phil and others, SHE WILL FIND YOU. If I were you, I'd give up now.... What a great job Rosann Faiola is doing with this Blog. This is certainly a wonderful way to stay in touch with our classmates. Please network and tell other classmates to visit our site and bring that PULASKI SPIRIT we had 40 years ago with them. We may have aged, gained some weight, lost some hair, been thru difficult times, however friendships and old memories are what helps to keep us young in spirit. Pulaski Spirit will be with us on June 28th, imagine the pictures we will be posting after that.
