So when Cdc was born we noticed he had the biggest "soft spot" on his head we'd ever come across (and I've come across a lot of newborns - remember, I have an addiction to babies!). Anyway, the doctor wasn't concerned (nor was I really) until this most recent visit. Cdc is now just 3 months shy of 2 years. She felt it and said "wow, that's still pretty big." But then she just said that there's nothing to worry about unless it's not closed by 2 years. Well, that was 3 months ago. Pmc and I were playing with him the other day while Cpc was sleeping and we randomly noticed that actually his soft spot is finally closing. I can't believe how fast it is doing so either.
Anyway, the reason I wanted to share this is to share the mere fact that we've really loved how that stick straight blonder-than-blonde hair sometimes starts pulsing on top of his head. When he's really running around a lot or something you can literally see his pulse through his hair on his head. It's stinkin' cute!
Thanks for reading my random thoughts!

Music by Pmc and I
I really want to do this for posterity - but it is really, extremely hard for me to post this for everyone to see. But I'm doing it anyway!
Pmc and I played together in church a few weeks ago, and I LOVE playing music with my husband. That and playing with my sisters are about the only times I actually enjoy playing my violin. Sorry, it's the truth! Anyway, I decided we should record it for posterity. Sorry it doesn't show my face. This was the only way we could fit both of us in since our piano is in our bedroom that's not very big.
By the way - one of the recent "tender mercies" we received is that piano. We were discussing how I'm struggling to move forward on some curriculum I'm working on because I want Pmc to write some songs for it, and how we miss playing together and the piano we enjoyed having while we lived in NY. So we decided we should start watching craigslist, ksl.com and the DI for a keyboard. So the next day I got on craigslist and lo and behold some guy was offering a free $3000 keyboard because the sound cuts out sometimes. We figured that's better than nothing for free and we were able to get that keyboard! We have so enjoyed having that music back in our home!

The Little Things
We're trying to drink in all the little wonderful joys around here.
Our last few sunny warm days at the park. Our boys who love their matching Boston hats.
Cpc who MUST have that hood on at all times.
Cdc who LOVES his hats. Particularly this one my friend Bwc made.
Having my little sister around to make us awesome treats. She slaved away for two days making these Lemon Basil cupcakes from scratch - in an attempt to make awesome use of the LOADS of basil her little seed produced! The best part were those candied basil leaves. Mmmm!

We're grateful for our little parking lot that we've had all to ourselves. It's great for those bikes and cars.

Cpc and I decided to try making his bike into one of those glider things, so we took off his pedals and training wheels. He wasn't convinced at first, but seems to be liking it better now.

Cdc also really loves the hat Grams and Papa brought back from Japan. I'm also really grateful for really simple, cheap toys like boxes that manage to whip out the creativity and imagination in my kids!
We treated ourselves to Arctic Circle the other night after I flopped getting everything I needed to ready for dinner. We ended up getting their Pumpkin Pie Shake, which was really delicious. Cpc particularly liked it so we asked him what flavor he thought it was and he said "Chocolate. (and then he thought about it a little harder)......no, not chocolate." So we asked him what it was then and he said "next to chocolate." I guess on the flavor wheel Pumpkin is next to chocolate - just like red is next to orange!

Power of Moms Workshops
So my first workshop was a great success. I was so relieved to see that even though I had been really nervous, there was really no reason to be because the pressure wasn't on ME. I think it's so great to gather together with a bunch of other mothers and really get some great ideas, feel good about myself, and feel like it's not impossible to be the mom I want to be.
I can hardly wait for the next one now! If you're in the area - I'd love to see you there!

Cpc quotes
The other morning around 4 in the morning Cpc came in and stood next to my bed and said "I'm havin' twuboe sweeping." (I'm having trouble sleeping) So I asked him if he needed me to come help him get back to sleep. To which he matter-of-factly responded "Sure - you up for that?"
The next day I asked him a question to which the appropriate answer would have been yes or no. He responded "Ya......badabadoo!" I loved how there was a little pause while he figured out that it would be funny to add the rest.
These kids are priceless.
