Not that anyone out there really cares - but may I remind you, this is our journal!
So - for those who remember, we attempted potty training when Cpc was 19 months old, right after Cdc was born. It was a disaster. He TOTALLY showed all the readiness signs - but he simply wasn't ready. Oh, and that was before we knew what sensory processing disorder was. We really did the "no more diapers", period. We did it for two weeks. It was a nightmare. I was exhausted. I just kept thinking - one more day and he'll get it. We tried underwear, we tried training pants, we tried naked. He just wasn't ready. He could go pee on the potty on command, but when he actually NEEDED to go? Nope. Clueless!
So, I sort of avoided it for a while. Pmc kept asking Cpc when he was going to quit wearing diapers, when he was going to get sick of getting diaper rash, and needing to be changed. I tried to ignore it. But, then we switched to cloth diapers, and I started thinking "cloth diapers are supposed to help kids with potty training - maybe this is our ticket." So we spent 3 months in cloth diapers and things were going along just about the same. I still kept avoiding the potty training topic, especially once we moved in with the in-laws. The idea of worrying about Cpc peeing or pooping on their carpet terrified me.
But then, Cdc grew too much. Meaning, he was ready for the bigger size of cloth diapers. I only bought enough for one kid - unless I wanted to wash them every single day. That didn't sound fun, and what if one of them had diarrhea? TMI? Sorry. What if both of them had diarrhea? AGH! That was it, Cpc HAD to potty train.
So, we did it the exact same way - except that we just went naked for the first 2 days, unless we were going out, which we didn't avoid because I wanted him to see that we go potty everywhere. It was ingenious. He was simply ready. He had very few accidents and he caught on super quick. In fact, just like the first time we attempted potty training - he was even dry at night (I still can't figure out how when he couldn't stay dry during the day, he could do it at night - literally ALL night). So, we did that 4-5 weeks ago, and he is our super-underwear-wearing boy. We put training pants on him still at night, although the only times he's been wet in the morning has been while he was sick. So how long do I keep putting the training pants on "just in case?" I don't know. I am getting him up to go potty right before we go to bed, and if I do that he doesn't wake up in the night muttering - which takes me 5 minutes to figure out that he's saying "I need to go potty."
I LOVE how I only have to change 1/2 as many diapers now. Glorious. I'm kind of glad now that I dreaded it so much though, because I think it was easier simply because of how I dreaded it!

Finding Freedom - The Light of Liberty
As many of you know, I am quite passionate about learning. Well, I know less than I want to know about our nation and our freedom. But I am nonetheless passionate about it as well.
