Here's some of Cdc's latest. My apologies for the naked bum in the background. That was the beginnings of Cpc's potty training - that's for the next post. We're a little behind by the way - this video was shot on the 10th.

Skiing the Beav!
Skiing the Beav on Monday was a BLAST!!! Well, for me that is. It turns out Pmc's ski boots don't fit very well and he ended up in the lodge most of the day. Ugh. However, the kids and I had a blast.
In the morning I took Cpc out on the bunny hill with the magic carpet, and though it took some coaxing, he showed me the "pizza" and "fries" that Aunt Cse taught him. His favorite part was when I'd ski down about 20 feet and then tell him to make fries. Then when he got to about 10 feet from me, I'd start shouting "pizza, pizza!" He would wait until 2 feet in front of me and make a pizza. In less technical terms, he thought it was really funny to run into me really fast instead of practicing stopping on his own. That's okay, he had fun - and that's what skiing is all about.
Then I took Cpc into the lodge and strapped Cdc to my front in the Beco and headed back out. He giggled the ENTIRE lift ride, even though it was snowing in his face a bit. He was just thrilled to be riding up in the air and he loved the view of the snowy trees. When we got off the lift, I switched him to my back which he was a little upset about at first. But once we started down the mountain he was back to his giggling. Each time I turned, he'd switch his head so he could see down the mountain. I don't think I've heard this kid laugh that much in 30 minutes EVER!!! I was so glad for that Beco. He was so comfortable - and warm.
After lunch I took Cpc out again, but he was not about to let me take him to the magic carpet again. He insisted on going on the lift. And he did awesome! I am still so proud of how much this beautiful little boy of mine LOVES to learn. Every day his personality shows more like mine, and Cdc's personality show more like Pmc's. No wonder Cpc is such a daddy's boy, and Cdc is such a momma's boy!
The funniest story of our ski trip happened as we sat in the lodge recovering and waiting for everyone to show up. Uncle Hdhe took Cpc outside for a couple minutes and of course Cpc was acting crazy as usual. Apparently Uncle Hdhe said "C--, you are CRAZY!!!" Cpc's response? "Your HAIR!"

Smithsonian Museum
I can't believe I forgot to post this!!!!! PLEASE READ!!!I just had to add something special in here for my cousin Eva Timothy, you remember, the one who took those awesome family pictures for us? Yeah, well, 5 of her photographs from the Lost in Learning project that just came out (in September) - they were just put in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Museum! WOW! Not to mention the other contests she's won (Paris Px3) and museums that have collected her works. Check out her blog, and the fantastic book! I know I already said this, but it is THE most inspirational book I've read lately (besides the scriptures!).
And in the time that has passed since then, she has started a new project on Freedom, I can hardly wait for it to be finished!!!
It's a Cabin Day
My heart filled with peace this morning even though we didn't make it to church. I don't know how anyone can gaze across the cold ice and deep blue water of Bear Lake without feeling that peace. Maybe it helps that there are other situations in life which contribute to that peace. But really I love winter at Bear Lake.
We drove up yesterday. We attended the Bear Lake Chocolate Festival. We forewent the chocolate dipped raspberries yesterday in favor of some spicy clam chowder in bread bowls at the festival. The chowder was great, but now I'm craving those raspberries. We entertained the boys at the pool and hot tub, where Cpc decided he LOVES jumping into the pool, and Cdc took a great liking to splashing.
As we drove to Momsey's cabin afterward, Cpc said "It's a cabin day." We thought that was quite fitting! Today is definitely a cabin day. After a rough night of coughing for Cdc, we choose to stay home from church to let him (and me) recover. So we've sat in the cabin all morning; relaxing, reading scriptures, watching "Johnny Lingo," and some nature/science shows on tv. We are grateful for those who research some of God's greatest creations on earth, providing us with insights into places and animals we would never have the means to visit. I love how at Bear Lake Sunday is truly a restful/holy day for me. I need that rest after the work we put in on the other days we're here. Maybe I should say "play" rather than "work." But we play hard here. In the winter we have always spent our days skiing at Beaver or snowmobiling, and our evenings swimming at Lava Hot Springs or the new pool. Summer we spend waterskiing, tubing, wakeboarding, swimming, playing volleyball, basketball and tennis. Any leftover time is spent preparing and enjoying meals. When Sunday comes we need that rest, and it's easy to find God in such a beautiful environment.
So, here's to our cabin today. And here's to our workout at Beaver tomorrow.
Speaking of Beaver - I have the best husband ever. How do those two relate? Well, you know that Beco I've been coveting? Well, I didn't win the giveaway. I was really disappointed. However, some good things have happened lately. Cdc officially grew too big for his infant seat, which meant he needed Cpc's carseat. I did research for quite a while on a carseat, and finally decided on one that only ended up costing 1/4 of the money we had set aside for it. So we decided to split the leftover money, Pmc got half to spend on me for Valentine's day, and I got the other half to buy a Beco. I know, I don't know how that's fair to Pmc - other than the fact that he seriously seems happy to spend money on me. Anyway, so I finally had enough money that I figured I could find one on ebay to buy. However, they suddenly started going for more on ebay. So on Friday, I still hadn't gotten one, and we discussed how it would be so nice to have one so I could stick Cdc on my back (because at Beaver they will let you ski with a kid on your back) while I help Cpc ski on Monday. That settled it, Pmc sent me out to the only place in the valley that sells Beco's to buy a brand new one. So now we are fully equipped for our ski day tomorrow, even without someone to sit in the lodge with Cdc! And since Cdc LOVES being attached to mommy, he is going to have a blast! And I know very well that I am the most spoiled wife on the planet.

So here's to a fun day at Beaver - with both our kids out on the mountain!
Our Time as of Late
On Monday we took the kids to the temple to talk about forever families. Cpc's favorite song lately is "A Happy Family." The kids loved touching the doors of the temple, and we are grateful that we get to work together to become a happy and eternal family.

The kids and I have been enjoying ourselves immensely lately. We've been getting out of the house nearly every day. We've enjoyed sunny days at the playground with very few other children, and snowy days at McDonald's playground with some hot apple pie. We've played to our hearts' content at the new children's portion of the Church History Museum. We are so grateful to have a free alternative to Discovery Gateway, along with a fun way to experience the Book of Mormon. We also enjoy the free exhibits at the Clark Planetarium, library story time, babysitting for Grams' bowling league, daily walks, and playing our active wii games (Active Life Explorer, and EA Sports Active More Workouts). Grams was kind enough to go let us into the zoo one morning too. Cpc woke up one morning and said to daddy in his kid talk "I want to see the animals." Pmc said "what animals?" Cpc said "At the zoo!" as though it was obvious. So since it was a warm day we worked it out! We also simply browse the mall once in a while - and spend a little extra time "testing" golf putters. Amidst all of these fun activities, we're still very ready for spring and our own space. It has been so fun to have less housework so that we have more time for these fun activities, but I really appreciate work. We are also excited to get out on our bikes, and go for some hikes.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!

Isn't that a beautiful thing to see on the kitchen table each morning? We got to enjoy that for nearly a week - and now it's already growing again!

Cdc now has six teeth - and the two on the top right broke through about two weeks before the two on the top left. Can you tell?

This is how our car looked after our drive to Bear Lake!

We have started giving Cpc ten pennies each day to put in his new bank that daddy made him for Christmas. He gets to put one penny in tithing, one in saving, and the remaining seven he either "earns permanently" by doing jobs or having a good attitude, or "loses permanently" by being mean or not helping with his jobs. Anything leftover at the end of the day he simply gets to keep. Well, the other day we were in target, and Cpc decided what he's saving for - this little beauty of a tennis racket! We took a picture to help him remember when he's having a hard time.
I've been taking lots of pictures and video with my phone, instead of pulling out the camera. There are two problems with that - the quality isn't as good, and I didn't bring the cord to connect my phone to the netbook. So I don't have the pictures right now - which means I'm going to have to post this later, after we get home from the lake.
Pmc has been working his heart out for Lithium Storage Inc. He loves his job, and we are making ourselves content with that as we work out other details to move our lives forward. There are many details I do not care to share on this blog - but things are slowly moving forward. We are happy.

I WANNA WIN A BECO
Ok, so I am going to any length I can find to get one of these Beco things. I realized a while ago that the Bjorn wasn't working out for me. I can't convince myself I'd be comfortable in one of those wraps, or a sling - but I do like carrying my baby (even if he is 1 year old) and he likes me carrying him. I need to get him on my back, and my cousin highly recommends the Beco. So I looked into it and I've been coveting it for some time. I've been trying to save up what little spending money I get (which isn't much - seeing as my husband doesn't have a steady job - although I'm grateful that he does have a job at least now - so I do have some spending money!). However, every time I set aside money, something comes along that can't wait and I'm not any closer to that Beco. My baby is growing up, and I don't want to lose this time. Plus - the carrier should last me through a few more kids, so I don't feel like it's extravagant. Am I babbling? Maybe. Anyway, I googled "Beco giveaway" and found this blogger in Canada who is doing a giveaway that ends this next week - and I am going through her entire list of ways to enter to win it. I even joined twitter. I am so anti-twitter. That's beside the point. I just thought I'd let everyone know how crazy I am for going through all these hoops to see if I can win it. Wish me luck. Don't enter because if you win and I don't I will be mad. No I won't. Go ahead and enter if you so desire - just make it up to me if you win! If you want to enter - click my fancy new button for the Canadian Natural Mama over there on the right!

Bear Lake for the Big Birthday
Lucky Cdc got to celebrate his first birthday at my mom's cabin at Bear Lake. He celebrated by going to the ski resort, the swimming pool, enjoying a dinner of ribs and red potatoes, and eating froggy cupcakes. He got a train set to add to the boys' train table, some bath boats, and an electronic phonics toy from Momsey & Grandpa Don. Cdc was perfectly content to watch me rip the wrapping paper too. He's taking about 20 steps at a time now - but only if he really wants to - no making this kid do anything he's not ABSOLUTELY comfortable with. He didn't really love us letting him go at his birthday cupcake on his own, he would definitely have preferred for us to cut it into bite size pieces to avoid the mess! Happy Birthday dude! We sure are grateful for the wonderful surprise of adding you to our family so soon!
There were a couple of special things about our weekend at the lake. First, it was SUPER foggy. The entire lake was covered in fog all weekend....which made getting to the cabin take twice as long as usual once we got into the valley. We also ended up hitting a huge white hare, after it weaved back and forth in front of us and off the road multiple times. We were so sad! Luckily Cpc was watching a movie on the iPod and didn't see! But the fog looked BEAUTIFUL from Logan Canyon Saturday morning when we headed out to ski the beav.
Isn't Cpc becoming a great photographer? Those last few are from his perspective - this is everyone at 8pm after a full day of skiing and swimming!
Cpc really enjoyed skiing for his second time (he skied a month or so ago at Snowbird - my all time least favorite resort - I broke my leg there in fourth grade and they didn't treat me very well). In fact, by the end of the day he could make a pizza with his skis all by himself, too bad Aunt Cse didn't get that one on film. Pmc also enjoyed his second day of skiing, and even attempted a black diamond with me and my mom and her husband! We are so grateful to Grandpa Don for giving Pmc his old skis! Oh, and I'm also very grateful for a ski-bum dad - we appreciate those free passes! Now we just need to round me up some of my own skis. See, after I broke my leg, I didn't ski for quite a few years, until snowboarding became the thing - then I took that up. Well, I lost interest after my mission, and decided to attempt skiing again. So far it's GREAT - but I still haven't attempted those mean moguls that broke my leg. But skiing with my mom was a great way to learn and improve my skills!
Have I mentioned how annoyed I am that our desktop computer is moody? Some days it works fine, while others it tells us it has decided to never work again. Only to work perfectly the next day. I hate doing pictures for the blog through the netbook - because we don't store our pictures on it, only on the external hard drive. But picasa takes forever to import those photos and then upload. So now I'm using blogger's upload feature, which doesn't allow me enough formatting options. Ugh. Why do we persist in this love-hate relationship with technology? I better not get started on that.
On other notes, did I mention we switched to cloth diapering? Yeah, Pmc calls me a granola. Think what you want, I'm saving nearly $100/month already. I may still be in the steep learning curve that is washing cloth diapers - but alas, I think it's worth it. Really, it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Besides that - with plans to have seven kids - I think we'll save lots of money! We also switched over from a pack-n-play to a peapod, and we're LOVING that choice. I still am working on saving up my spending money to switch from the Baby Bjorn to the Beco Butterfly. That's definitely a bit trickier. Why am I sharing all this? I don't know, 'cause it's what's been on my mind I guess. We are working on simplifying - and it sure is making me feel good!

Anniversary
We had an especially wonderful anniversary this year. My little sister worked out her schedule for us to be able to go overnight up to Logan to enjoy the "True Aggie Getaway." It was so needed, and so appreciated. We really took a good look at our family's needs and made some great adjustments. We have really learned to appreciate the fact that we are totally opposite in so many ways. I love my husband so much, and I'm not going to apologize for getting mushy! Love you honey!
