Meet Frederick

So we bought a new car. Okay, not new, but it's definitely the newest car I've ever owned. Since we name our cars, meet Frederick:
We decided that he had to be a male because he's charcoal colored. Many of you know that Pmc and I met in Frederick, MD. So we've talked for a while about giving the name Frederick to one of our kids but just weren't convinced. So this was our opportune time to use the name. We hope Freddie (yes he has a nickname) will treat us well for many years to come.

It was not easy to decide upon a make/model/price for our car together, we had many different opinions. But in the end we're both at peace and hope Fred (or two nicknames) will be a blessing.

Anyway, I don't have much time tonight. But I will say that I'm excited to announce that we made some big plans for keeping up with the blog. We both really want to get a blog post in every week because we feel like we miss recording the little things if we don't. Pmc has had a hard time balancing his schedule lately, but we think we have it under wraps finally....so hopefully next week we'll be back to our original methods....posting together.

The past couple weeks have been slightly eventful. Cpc's second tooth broke through, and it seems to reallllllly be helping with his whining. I was starting to just think I had a whiney child. Nope, he's back to his happy self! I haven't really tried to get any pictures of the actual teeth, because I assume it's impossible, but here's him brushing his teeth, which he LOVES to do!
He is also still THRILLED with water. His new favorite is sitting on his dad's shoulders in the shower so he can play with the shower-head and try to climb on it.
Last Sunday I was hoping we would get one more big snowstorm so that I could take Cpc out in his snowsuit one time before spring hit. Well, I had to wait 'til Thursday, but I got my wish. He TOTALLY loved eating the snow. He liked crawling in it at first, until he realized he couldn't move very well in his big snowsuit and faceplanted several times.

Total playtime in the snow=3 minutes. I didn't even get time to build a mini-snowman!
Most people tell us that Cpc looks just like me. I think so most of the time too. But I think he looks just like Pmc here:
So that's all this week. I know I thought of a thousand things that I wanted to write down to remember the past two weeks, but they are all gone now! ARGH!

The song is the one that Pmc told me he was wanting to put on this week. Classic favorite for us for sure!

WAIT!!! I LIED!!! I remembered a couple things I HAVE TO RECORD!!! Lately Cpc has become very adept at making the gurgling sound in the back of his throat, it's adorable. We still can't get him to do it on command. Pmc also taught him to kick bouncey balls, which he picked up on VERY quickly. He can walk holding onto only one finger with one hand, which is the skill that he proudly parades for all who will watch. He has started to laugh at things with a "Ha, Ha, Ha" with pauses in between each "Ha." He had his 9 month check-up and is officially 28.5 inches long, and 18.5 pounds. He is VERY adept at feeding himself anything and everything, except when it comes to his sippy cup. He sat in his high chair with his sippy cup on his tray this week, and would not use his hands, but tried desperately to get some nourishment from it for a full 2 minutes. Then he got frustrated and reached around it to grab a bit of hot dog and put it in his mouth. Last but not least he got his very first "Father and son" outing this week, while I got some much needed dusting, ironing and sewing done. I am so grateful for a husband who will do this. I felt so refreshed after doing housework for a solid 3 hours, go figure!

Outings & Teeth

BY THE WAY, the new song is by my friend Sarah from up at USU. It's so great to see how far she's come. We were in Music Theory & Aural Skills (learning interval recognition & such) together. We used to practice together! I'm thrilled to share her talent with everyone....she's very mellow.

Anyway, Cpc and I went on lots of outings this week.

Our first one was to the Park. Cpc got to experience the slide and the swing. We are very grateful that Lmze was around so they could both experience the swing together. They were both too small for it on their own, but together they sure had fun. They both laughed the whole time.
Our next outing was to the gymnastics meet. Lucky for us Hco and Ajo got to join us, and I finally got a picture. I'm guessing Jbc and Rvc didn't make it because of J's surgery.
Then, we got to go to the zoo with all the Cundick cousins, while Pmc went golfing with his dad. It sure was fun for Cpc to be around his cousins, but he couldn't really focus on very many of the animals. We want to try the petting zoo next time around. However, Cpc did really like the giraffe's. He could definitely see them better.

We wanted to share one video just for Uncle Sdc on his mission. I'm not sure when he gets these posts emailed to him if he's able to view the video's....but just in case:

We love you Uncle Sdc.

Lucky for us, Pmc is on spring break now, and we're enjoying a little extra time with him. The other day Pmc got Cpc dressed, and then realized that he had the same shirt....so I had twinner boys for the day.

Cpc has some new developments. His first tooth finally cut through his gums, and his nose has stopped running, but his drool has only doubled. Being around Lmze so much, he learned to wave and buzz his lips. He's such a good growler that we figured it would be easy to train him to tell us "What does a bear say?" But so far, no success.

As for me, I'm loving motherhood more and more. It's not that I didn't love the newborn & infancy stage, I did. I just had a harder time figuring out how to balance motherhood than I thought I would. It's really hard when he screams at me, or when all I want to do in a day is get laundry done and pmc can't figure out why it's so tough and doesn't get done. But it's amazing what sweet emotions I can feel just watching this little life take shape before my eyes.

Learning to Fly

We love family. We do, we really do. We enjoyed this last weekend so much, as well as most of this week. My sister Cdee and her family are in town. Cpc and Lmze have had SOO much fun being back together, especially now that they can actually play with each other. Their parents probably love it more though. We have thoroughly enjoyed making them play with each other to get cute pictures, but they have also done some of their own stuff. Here's the proof:

This is where we made them play together, they couldn't get out easily:

This is where they did it on their own. We were in the car and Lmze was starting to get sad, so Cpc reached his hand out to hold hers. They would hold hands for a few seconds then let go, over and over again.
We did do other things besides force them to be friends though.

We went skiing, Pmc for his first time!!!! He started out a little unnerved, but once we got his boots loosened a bit he could feel his feet and really enjoyed himself. I'm also slowing getting better again. I still think I look like a beginner though.
We had everyone in the Eyre clan but Bmem and her family on the hill at Beaver (although we didn't get pictures with my dad).
After skiing we stopped into Garden City to grab the "Old Ephraim" Pizza. That thing is 28" and we ALMOST ate the whole thing, plus 2 dessert pizzas.
We also went to Lava Hot Springs, which of course Cpc thoroughly enjoyed. He is getting WAY good at kicking when we put him on his belly. He tries to splash with his hands though at the same time.....maybe he's actually trying to row, who knows?

The bad part of the week though is Suzie. Our poor car is mostly dead, and we're not sure she has much to live for, so I'm not sure a chocolate-coated miracle pill will help her this time. We're trying to decide right now what to do. It would help so much if we could figure out where we're going to school, so that we know how much money we can reasonably afford to spend on cars. Ugh.

We were driving home from Bear Lake, and just as we approached Evanston, Suzie's timing belt blew and pretty much tore up the whole engine. Even though it's hard not to be pessimistic about this, we have much to be grateful for. We were out of the canyon so we could make phone calls, we were able to have someone look up phone numbers for bishops in Evanston so that we could take Cpc to a warm place while we waited for Grams to come pick us up, we were close enough to Evanston that the bishop was willing to come pick us up, Grams was able to come pick us up, we didn't get in an accident and we're all safe and unharmed, the tow-truck was a flat-bed even though we didn't think about the fact that we HAD to have a flat-bed for our AWD car, we were able to leave the car at the bishop's house until we figured out how to get it to SLC, our mechanic was kind enough to go pick it up without charging us an arm and a leg, the engine died BEFORE we renewed our registration for the year (which was due in March). So while we are hating the situation we're in, we are very grateful it's not worse. Now we just need to make some big decisions, and with a little prayer, we'll do so just fine!

Pmc says that the song "Learn to Fly" is because we learned to fly down the ski-slope, and that it talks about coming home, which we did.

Sweet Screams of Protest

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have the Oaks' over for dinner, along with C, who Pmc and Mo taught as missionaries. I really enjoyed finally getting to meet C, who I've heard lots about over the past 3 years. Cpc and Do are 2 months apart and really enjoyed playing together. We were also offered 4 tickets to the Utah Basketball game for that night, so after C went to work, we headed to the Hunstman Center. Cpc seemed to enjoy basketball more than the football games, as did I. I grew up attending plenty of basketball games, since all my cousins are tall and played. I get the game of basketball, football doesn't really hold my attention as well. So that was quite enjoyable.

I had (and still have some lingering effects of) a miserable cold, which Pmc has picked up as well...though he seems to be getting through it quicker than me (probably due to the sleep he gets). Cpc still has a runny nose, but his gums don't seem to be bothering him as much. But he can't breathe very well at night, so I'm getting a little less sleep. However, cpc is generally still his typical happy self. At some point during the last week my little sister came over with some Sour Patch Kids, and left the bag in our garbage can. Well, cpc quickly found the bag of course.....we turned around to find him licking his hand and then sticking it back into the pile of sugar in his lap, as pleased as punch!

Sadly we found an injured deer in our yard this week as well. It's hind leg had the top half of the bone completely exposed with the fur hanging off the leg. It had a couple other deer hanging around to protect it. But it seemed to be up and around just fine. We had the wildlife people come look at it, and they decided not to shoot it. So we watched it for a couple days, Cpc and I named it Bambi, and then it disappeared when it started snowing. We are sad that Bambi left us! It was a sweet deer! We hope it's okay!

For date night we went ice-skating. Luckily we were just in time to still go to an outdoor rink, which I LOVE! However, the rental skates were totally dull, and they didn't Zamboni the ice very well........but it was still SOOO much fun! We are very grateful aunt Cse came with us to let Pmc and I skate a little together! I am so grateful I married someone who loves to do all sorts of sports.... We have so much fun doing different activities almost every time we go out, and we learn so much together.

We have mixed feelings today as I post this.....we found out that Pmc didn't get into UCDavis. At first we both felt a little relief that we don't have to add it into our decision-making process. But we do both feel a little bad because we love California......Oh well, it is what it is!

Cpc is growing up WAY too fast. Our favorite things about him this week are: the way he has to eat his spaghetti squash off his tray (instead of the spoon) and also slurps it like actual spaghetti (which we didn't teach him to do), and how his new favorite toy is the nose squeegee bulb (I can't figure why he likes it so much when he screams everytime he sees me pick it up). Neither of us are enjoying the screams that have erupted from Cpc, although I'm sure when he's a teenager I will wish for his sweet screams of protest over the "mom you're so annoying" looks that are bound to come! We sure love our sweet little son!

Oh, and we randomly saw this singer on TV the other night. I can't believe that voice comes from this girl.....WOW!
