Surprise

I didn't get time to post on Sunday because our power was out. However, we didn't do a whole lot anyway, so it will be a little skimpy...

We attended the Bee's game, where cpc found his new favorite activity and showed off his laugh and smile for everyone!

We also had dinner with one of pmc's mission companions and his wife and 4-month baby. We didn't get any pictures, but we did watch Dan in Real Life again (which we love). Both pmc and I remembered how much we love the music, so we noted the artist. And now I've found one of my new favorite songs...because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SURPRISES!

Home Again Home Again (Jiggety Jog!)

(If the title doesn't make sense to you, click here!)
So, I never knew until this post that this came from Mother Goose. I learned the phrase from my mother, who would often say it when we pulled into the driveway after a trip. It feels so nice to be back home after a few weekend trips. As you can tell here, cpc is very glad to be home too! Don't get me wrong... the time away was nice too, but three weekends in a row with a new baby began to wear on me a little. I have such an appreciation now for all the effort my parents went through to give us fun vacations as kids. I didn't realize how much effort goes into it from the parental end. Wow!
Alas, reaching the end of vacations isn't all rosy... it signals the end of summer too. And that means it's back to school. This should be an exciting semester as I finish up some of the required classes for my certification as a Family Life Educator. I'll be taking Psychology of Love, Family Investment Planning, Human Sexuality (no, this wasn't by choice... but I figure it's at least better than having to take 'animal sexuality' or something), Ethics, and to round it all out: Kayaking! Thankfully I'm down to my last two semesters... at least for my Undergraduate Degree. Still looking at lots of options for where to go next.
Work is still work, though I'm getting enough variation day-to-day to not be going crazy. These days I deliver furniture two days a week, work in the warehouse one day a week, and then switch over to doing work at the various apartment buildings that Sterling owns the other two days each week. So now I'm a "Delivery-and-Warehouse-Manager-Driver-Electrician-Cleaner-Painter-Serviceman-Locksmith-Gopher guy." I don't love it and I wouldn't want to do it for 35 years, but it is nice to pick up lots of experience in areas that are more hands-on than I'm accustomed to. It'll do until I graduate anyway.
Can't think of anything else to write about right now... it's kind of the dog days of summer and I don't have any profound insight into that to enlighten your world. I'll just wrap up with the things I want most in life, cause it's good to write things like that down somewhere. I want to provide a simpler life for my wife and family. I want to live away from Salt Lake City at least once in my life. I want to write at least one book. I want to see every major league ballpark. I want to help people be better. I want to witness my Dad's first Hole-in-One. I want to eat Belgian Waffles in Belgium, Swedish Fish in Sweden, and French Fries in France, even though they're just the same there! I want to learn how to truly remember more of the little things and appreciate life on earth.
Last thing... the new song has nothing at all to do with the post, I've just been wanting some Dashboard Confessional on Our Soundtrack for Life for a while. I wanted to add So Long Sweet Summer by said Dashboard, but it wasn't on Project Playlist.
(ATEC HERE, I FOUND IT, THUS IT IS ADDED TO THE PLAYLIST AS WELL!)

Viva Las Vegas

We had so much fun this weekend. Everything worked out just perfectly.

We stayed in St. George Friday night after attending the touring production of "Saturday's Warrior" and it's new sequel "White Star." Pmc's friend from UVSC was in it, and we were unable to attend while it was playing in Salt Lake, due to cpc's arrival! Brian did a great job! We stayed at my cousin's house that night and got a chance to take cpc swimming that morning. We met up with pmc's cousin (who had a little baby boy just two weeks after cpc was born) for lunch. Alas....no pictures of any of this.

Next we ventured on to Las Vegas! We attended the wedding reception of a mission friend. He was pmc's mission companion during the six weeks that pmc and I were both serving in the Frederick Ward. We are so excited for them!

Then, we finally got to do something I've been wanting to do for like 5 years.....spend some quality time with my friend Brook. We randomly became roomates my sophomore year of college, and only lived together for 3-4 months. However, we spent so many nights talking until 3am, I probably know her better than any of my other friends combined! I can hardly tell you how great it was to have a chance to catch up. Pmc could tell I was enjoying myself so much that he let us extend our vacation an extra day so I could have more time with Brook.

Cpc has taken an extra special liking to his father this weekend. It looks to me like he wants to be just like him!

This is Brook's daughter, she's almost 2. She's trying to give the "peace" sign!

Did you know there is a place near Vegas that isn't deathly hot? Yup, we went up into the mountains for dinner Sunday night. I think Audrey wants to be just like Brook too.

It's extra fun now that we talk about husbands and children instead of dating!

Cpc improved his thumb-sucking skills on the road home.
Now we are thrilled to take a break from vacations, and just rest.....if you call going back to work and keeping house "rest".

Eyre Family Reunion

Well...I'm sitting here trying desperately to make sure I get in a post this week before we're off to Las Vegas for the weekend (didn't happen, we're back from Vegas...I didn't get the pictures added before I left...but alas, here is the post!). It's a little difficult though because not only am I trying to be a good mom and give my son the attention he needs and wants.....I'm trying to give my niece a little attention for a few minutes so my sister can go to the gym. Somehow, I got them to trade off crying moments for long enough to get them both to sleep though. WOW! Am I good or what?

Anyhow, my apologies up-front for the picture overload. We had a family reunion though, and we do have a son that is still new that we adore. However, I don't know if we'll get over taking pictures of him every five seconds. And why should we?

So...first, my sister from Canada came into town with her 4 kids. We went swimming the first night, then she and her husband skipped the country for a week, without their 4 kids.

Then it was time for a "This Little Cundick Family" vacation. We headed to Bear Lake and spent a very brief night at my cousin's cabin, before heading on to Jackson Hole. To say the least, we were both disappointed. It was way more commercialized than we both remember, and there was no fun shopping to be had! We did find one fun pair of baby sunglasses however!Next, we ventured on to Jackson Lake Lodge to see some wildlife, which cpc seemed to think was awesome!

We stayed the night at the Tent Cabins at Colter Bay. For a first camping experience with a baby, I highly recommend this option. Pmc made a delightful breakfast of French Toast, Eggs, Bacon and OJ.

To celebrate atec's 6-week post-op day, we hiked most of Inspiration Point at Jenny Lake. We had to stop at a lookout a little shy of Inspiration Point to feed cpc and ourselves, and decided it was beautiful enough for us to stop there instead of pushing atec too much. As we finished our nectarines, a chipmunk got a little friendly and took our pits right out of pmc's hand!

We loved the beautiful falls, and cpc seemed to really like the sound of it.....as well as his free ride in the Baby Bjorn. After a quick wade in the fresh water of the lake, we ventured on to the first official "K&M Eyre Family Reunion."

We spent the first evening playing a little "Lasso Golf" and collecting the GORGEOUS wildflowers (hint to my honey: I LOVE wildflowers!).

The next morning we just hung out around the cabin at Island Park, spending time just enjoying each other's company. Cpc took a nap that morning that melted my heart.

In the afternoon we rented canoes and paddled UP-river for an hour. Due to cpc's hunger, atec had to let her little sister help pmc row. :( She had been really excited to row the canoe....guess we'll have to assent to pmc's desire to buy one!

That evening we had a fantastic family meeting, in which the activity was to play charades with 1 prop each....a roll of toilet paper. The first round was to choose our favorite scripture story. Britt's family did "The Tree of Life," Britt was the tree, and Emer was in the "great and spacious building" mocking the partakers of the fruit of the tree! He's a good "mocker" huh? Our family, along with my other little sister's help, did the birth of Jesus by pulling cpc through the bottom of the bjorn!

The second round was our favorite movie....can you figure out what we're acting before they tell you?

That was all the activities we did with Grandpa as part of the fun.

Sunday morning we met Grandpa Don and Grandma at church, and then headed into Yellowstone. It was interesting seeing the park as an adult, as the last time I was quite young, and very afraid of falling into a hot-pot. Cpc did NOT enjoy the in-n-out of the car game. But he still enjoyed the short stints in the bjorn!

Before heading back to the cabin we took a little swim in the Island Park Reservoir. That night in an attempt to find my phone (which was never found) Howie and pmc enjoyed finding lots of coins ($2.00+) in the couches!

Finally before coming home we put all the grandkids together for a good picture!

On our way home we stopped to eat lunch near the new Rexburg Temple.

Once we got home cpc was entirely enthralled to be here! He looked around in awe at his familiar surroundings and slept VERY well!

Now, just to throw him off we're going to go on one more big road-trip before settling down for pmc's school year!
