San Francisco Honeymoon

Since we wanted to have more of a "real" honeymoon - you know, where you go somewhere cool - we decided to go to San Francisco over spring break. We drove Paul's Dad's truck to California, and stayed at Chris & Hedy Eyre's house. Just before we left, I interviewed with the Stabile family to see if I could spend my summer nannying for them. On our way I called to ask if they had decided and they told me I had the job!

We enjoyed a day at Monterey Bay Aquarium. I really liked the starfish, and the penguins. Paul particularly enjoyed the Otters, who put on quite a show for us. Since our calling at the time in our ward was as Teachers for the Sunbeams, we had recently had a lesson on fish. So we made an extra effort to note all the amazing fish, and share the pictures with them. They especially enjoyed Nemo & Dori.
We also went out to the beach to explore. The water was so cold, but the rocks were enough to entertain us both for more than an hour.
We spent some time in San Francisco too, but weren't really enjoying it too much apparently, 'cause we ended up with zero pictures. We'll have to go back!

We did get a chance to visit my cousin Aleisha and her family. Chris and Hedy also organized a big dinner so that we got to see Dana & Aaron Benning, Ben & Ashley Eyre, and Aaron Eyre. Dana and I both lived with Chris & Hedy the summer before I left on my mission. At the time Dana was single, and Aaron was after her (they had dated previously). But she thought he was weird and would always finagle a way for me to come with them so she didn't have to "date" him. It was at this big dinner that I learned they had gotten married! No pictures of that either...

Before heading home, we took the opportunity to attend the Oakland Temple. I was excited to share this temple with Paul, since it's where I received my own endowment. Paul felt pretty bad that his hair was so long. He sure looked young with the long hair and braces. The braces he had gotten shortly after our wedding, so that his parents insurance would still cover them. He had grown out his hair for the first time in his life, now that he wasn't under his dad's influence, and just wanted to see what it was like! I did enjoy the curliness!

The New Snowmobile

During Paul's mission, his family's cabin burned down. Lucky for us, they rebuilt it before he even came home. However, both of the snowmobiles were burnt with the cabin. But for the family Christmas present in 2006, Grammie & Boba purchased a new one. Paul and I were lucky enough to go help Boba pick it up and take it to the cabin. The best part though was that there was still just enough snow to warm it up and use it once before it was put away for the spring/summer/fall. We each got a good ride on it. Paul was quite skilled with that machine. However, on my ride, I didn't quite get a corner correctly and I knocked it over. We took a picture, but it's on Paul's old phone which is long gone. I wasn't hurt, and the snowmobile was just fine (after Paul helped me turn it back up). We still haven't told Boba what happened though...
