Kolob Honeymoon

Our first night as a wedded couple we rode a carriage to the Anniversary Inn and stayed in the Anniversary Inn Suite. The next morning we drove down to Rick & Linda Eyre's cabin at the bottom of Kolob Canyon (between Cedar City & St. George in Southern Utah). We spent a couple nights there for a mini-honeymoon before school started back up for both of us.

After we got to the cabin, we decided to drive back up to Cedar to go to the grocery store. After we grabbed our groceries, we got caught in a wicked snowstorm as we drove back to the cabin. This is our little blizzard experience.
After we got home we discovered two dead mice on the floor near the bed. Needless to say it put a momentary damper on the idea of our sweet getaway!

The next morning the storm had ended, but it was very windy all morning. Once it finally stopped, we decided to take a trip down to St. George for a visit with cousins (Jared & Saren Loosli, and Jonah & Aja Eyre) and go out to dinner. When we tried to leave the property, we got our Subaru stuck in a snowdrift. We spent most of the afternoon trying to dig it out. Paul was such a diligent worker. After a while, I made hot chocolate for the two of us to warm up. Paul wouldn't even come inside to drink it, he just kept working, taking little sips here and there. When we finally got the car out of the drift his pants looked like this...
After getting dried off and warmed up, we finally headed down to St. George. After a good little visit with cousins, Jonah gave us a gift card for Outback Steakhouse, so we headed there for dinner. Aja also gave us the tip that we could go ahead and try out the horses back at the cabin.
So the next morning we saddled up those horses and went for a ride. However, we could only get one of the horses to allow us on it's back, so we didn't get to ride together. But we sure enjoyed the bit of riding we got to do anyway. I sure love this picture of Paul riding away on the horse (we can't remember it's name).
After our horse-ride we got a call from Outback. I had left my purse & phone down there, so we had to drive back down and grab it before heading back home.

We highly recommend the mini-honeymoon, no pressure to go see the sights in some cool place, just a chance to spend time with each other and learn how to live together!

The Newlyweds in Retrospect

So, when we were dating and very newlywed, we had not yet learned to blog. We have a few journal entries and pictures. But no details. So I'm going to attempt to give some details we remember from our first 4 months before we started blogging.

Mostly I'll just give some details that we remember that go along with pictures & video, and try to add any other stories that we can remember. Just know that up through the first "This Little Cundick Family" posts, everything is in retrospect!
