On Saturday we got back from a super fun vacation to Vegas and Arizona. It was our first long car trip with the family-and the first in a long time for me. The kids did really good. H is an expert traveler and would sit in the car all day and color, watch movies, take naps, and eat. She cried when we got home and we told her she had to watch the movie in the house instead of the car. G is a work in progress but he did really well considering how much time was spent in the car. Here we are doing what we did for many hours on the trip. I would rotate between the front and the back depending on if G and H needed me.
First it was a 6 hour trip, with a stop in St. George at the Frost-op drive in, to Las Vegas. We went with our friends and had so much fun. An interesting clown made this hat for us on the streets after we enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner. We actually had 2 buffets in Las Vegas, because you can't go to Vegas and not have a buffet, and they were both amazing. Especially the desserts!
Of course we didn't miss a chance to go swimming-twice in Vegas and once in AZ-although the pool in AZ wasn't heated so G and I didn't go in! G loves the pool and by the end he was splashing and laughing and having the best time. H is getting better at swimming but we are still working on the getting your face wet part!
It was a long day and H was not exactly in the best of spirits by the end!
Then we drove 8ish hours to AZ-after an hour of traffic at the Hoover Dam and a seriously angry baby in the car. His screams however lulled H to sleep and she took a great nap. In AZ we went to the zoo and the botanical gardens which was super fun. Here a butterfly landed on G's hat and stayed there for a surprisingly long time.
It was so much fun to have P with us doing fun things. He hasn't had a spring break since high school so this was a real treat-I guess there is some real positives when your in your school even if you are broke in the meantime!
In the butterfly house, H was given a pamphlet of all the different butterflys and everytime she saw one she would open it up to figure out which kind it was. We thought it was so cute!
The botanical gardens were full of all different types of arizona plantlife-aka cactus! Thanks S for getting us in free and spending the day with us.
Baby G was all smiles at the Zoo and although he may not have really known where he was he had fun anyway!
H had so much fun with her aunt and uncle-and their dog too! She loves them and thanks for letting us come and stay.
After a few more visits with wonderful people and so many memories later we headed home. We stopped at the Hoover Dam so I could feed G and P and H went and walked around. Here is at this neat place. Then another 6 hours to St. George where we stayed with my Grandma and 4 more hours home.
Thanks to everyone who we saw and talked to on our vacation. We are exhausted but at least we know that the trip out East in 2 months should be fun and we have some tricks under our belt now to be ready for it!
Goodbye Arizona-until next years spring break!
