Only What's Done for Christ Will Last

Only One Life, Twill Soon Be Past
by C.T. Studd

Two little lines I heard one day,
Traveling along life’s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart,
And from my mind would not depart;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet,
And stand before His Judgement seat;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, the still small voice,
Gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave,

And to God’s holy will to cleave;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, a few brief years,
Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its days I must fulfill.
living for self or in His will;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

When this bright world would tempt me sore,
When Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way,
Then help me Lord with joy to say;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep,
In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e’er the strife,
Pleasing Thee in my daily life;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Oh let my love with fervor burn,
And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone,
Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Now let me say, “Thy will be done”;
And when at last I’ll hear the call,
I know I’ll say “twas worth it all”;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
And when I am dying, how happy I’ll be,
If the lamp of my life has been burned out for Thee.

Not in Creature Comforts

"I have learned in whatsoever state I am therewith to be content."

 ~Philipians 4:11

Discontent! Was there ever a time when there was so much restlessness in the world as there is today?

We very much doubt it.

Despite our boasted progress, the vast increase of wealth,

the time and money expended in daily pleasure,

discontent is everywhere.

No class is exempt.

Everything is in a state of flux, and almost everyone is dissatisfied.

Many even among God's own people are affected with the evil spirit of this age...

This much is clear: contentment comes from within not without;

it must be sought from God,

not in creature comforts.

Bible Verses About God's Love for Us

Do you struggle with feeling loved?

You might be feeling alone and that no one loves you.

But I want to remind you that God loves you.

And He is there for you.

Who You Are In Christ

"Christ in you, the hope of glory" Colossians 1:27

When Satan comes knocking on your door and begins to accuse and attack you, don't let him have his way.

What Kind of Friends Shall You Choose?

To Take a Worm

"To take a worm of the earth

and make him a disciple of Jesus

is the greatest privilege God can bestow upon man.

To select an obstinate, ungodly, perverse rebel,

and place him in the school of Christ,

and at the feet of Jesus,

is the highest favor God can bestow upon any child of the dust."

~ J. C. Philpot 1802-1869

Good Grandmothers

Good Grandmothers...

...are tellers of stories. They open the faucet of the past to quench their grandchildren's story thirst, and are careful not to flood them with too many, "I remembers..."

...are askers of questions. "Is math any easier now? "What did you name your puppies?" Is your new dress finished yet?"

...are wielders of peelers. Their swift hands make the pear pile smaller, the kitchen less steamy, and the hours shorter on canning day.

...are noticers of everyday things. School art on the wall, birds at the birdfeeder, sandbox setus of farms and roads are noteworthy because they are part of their grandchildren's lives.

9 Lessons from God Concerning Sickness

Sickness is meant…

1. To make us think—to remind us that we have a soul as well as a body—an immortal soul—a soul that will live forever in happiness or in misery—and that if this soul is not saved we had better never have been born.

2. To teach us that there is a world beyond the grave—and that the world we now live in is only a training-place for another dwelling, where there will be no decay, no sorrow, no tears, no misery, and no sin.

Are You Letting Negative Thoughts Destroy You?

Ladies ~ focusing on ourselves or our trials is a very self-destructive way to live.
When we allow ourselves to focus on our trials and hardships, it has a damaging effect on our outlook of everything. As legitimate and as severe as our difficulties may be, there are no justifiable excuses to sin and not trust the Lord.

When People You Love are Making Bad Decisions

Ladies ~ When people that you love are making bad decisions and choosing to live in sin.....
When people that you love are making bad decisions and choosing to live in sin ... don’t allow your focus to be hindered by them. Pray for them. Love them. But don’t let them hinder your walk with Christ.
