I think we should all be just "tickled pink" with how wonderful the "This Little Piggy" activity turned out! We had 5 presenters teach us mini classes on topics that went along with the nursery rhyme. So here we go, say it with me:
This little piggy went to market. . .and got a 72 hour kit.
Amy Jukes presented a lesson on what we can do to be prepared for a local disaster that included information on what to put in a 72 hour kit, what to carry it in, how to put together an emergency binder for your family, and information on how to have practice drills and rotate your supplies.

This little piggy stayed home. . .and got organized.
Kristie Cummings gave a lesson
filled with great ideas to help us get organized along with some great advice: Don't bite off more than you can chew. Break your organizing down into small projects so you aren't overwhelmed with the thought of doing it. Do it in a way that makes it fun for
you.
Here are links to her handouts.

This little piggy had roast beef. . .had summer smoothies.
Kim Strong presented us with some great ideas of how we can eat better and live healthier. We were able to sample 2 different highly nutritious smoothies - AND THEY TASTED GREAT!!!! Who knew?!?! There may have even been some spinach and flax seed hidden in them somewhere ;)

This little piggy had none. . .no stress that is.
Heather Evans gave us some tips on how to reduce stress which included ideas on the importance of getting a good nights rest (i.e. don't watch TV right before bed), eating well, and relaxation techniques - yes there are simple yoga moves we all can do. And GOOD NEWS there are great deals to be found on massages ladies - you may want to get one. She also taught us some aromatherapy concepts. When you smell an essential oil, if it appeals to you, it is most likely a compound that your body needs. The scent of certain essential oils can help us to relax.
Aveda has some great ones to try. There is also a company called
Aromaland that has some good ones - a few drops of "Take Five" in the shower before you turn it on will turn your bathroom into a steam therapy spa!

This little piggy cried wee! wee! wee! all the way home. . .as she discovered lots of fun places to visit in Dallas this summer.
Last but not least, Janette Church - a lifelong Texan y'all - gave us the heads up and howdy do on what to see and do (for free or close to it) around town. Here is a handout to help you track it all down:

Many thanks to all who presented and helped to put on this amazing activity!
I am super glad that
this little piggy did not stay home :)
