Gibb Mountain

Monday we went to go visit Grandma and Grandpa Gibb.

Grandpa has been working hard grooming a trail out in the desert to Gibb Mountain. Of course we needed to take our annual trek. See the beautiful rock lined pathway.
Patti is calling for the rescue squad! lol

Uncle Jelly Bean challenged Nathan to a race up to the top of the mountain.

Do we look good?
Look at the view from the top of the mountain. It sure was nice weather that day.

Uncle Wayne took a picture as proof that we all made it to the top!

Ahhh! I can't stop, I guess we will race down the hill too.

Academic Decathlon

Can you believe that all of this is for ONE class? Ashley is in Academic Decathlon and they are studying the Great Depression. It worked, she is depressed!

She had a competition at a local high school and had to be all dressed up for her speech and interview. Curtis, Sandi and Patti went to the competition to be judges. There were 10 schools in attendance and we were judges for some of the interviews. What a wonderful experience. We had a great time and the culinary arts classes prepared and served dinner too. Thanks Ashley for a truly unique opportunity.

Christmas Card

I am really shocked at how fast this past year has raced by. So much has happened. The kids are all in high school and now it's Christmas time. I love this time of year. We've been busy shopping and decorating and wrapping gifts. I still need to do some baking, but I think we'll make it in time. Here's our family picture and letter for the year. We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. Please keep in touch.
Christmas 2010

Wow! I can’t believe another year has slipped away so quickly. We have so much to be thankful for because we have been blessed in so many ways. It’s been a while since we’ve written a Christmas letter and reconnected with some of our friends and family. We hope all is well with you and your family. If you’d like to see some of the details of our lives, please go to our family blog and spend some time browsing around at prodromides.blogspot.com.

Kevin is still at Honeywell working on cabin pressurization systems for the next generation of Airbus aircrafts and he also works at the U of A as a mentor for several teams engaged in their senior engineering capstone projects. Kevin is serving as 1st counselor in the Sunday School Presidency at church and he is also the Emergency Communication Expert for the Tucson North Stake, which allows Kevin to utilize his talents as an amateur radio operator. Kevin and Patti are serving as nursery leaders in our ward with 17 nursery age children for 3 years now.

Patti is still working at Cardiac Rehab at the Hospital and she really loves her job. She has enjoyed her grandma trips this year to go spend time with her 4 grandkids. (Lisa and Devin live in Salt Lake City and have three darling girls and another baby on the way. Steven and Emily are living in Las Vegas and have the cutest little boy.) Patti enjoys reading Anita Stansfield and school textbooks (lol). The family continues to ask for the coveted Patti blankets which keep her crocheting skills up to par.

Michelle is a senior this year and will be graduating from High School. She is taking honors and AP classes and also a certified nurses’ aid class. She is looking forward to school being out! She is also taking classes at Pima Community College. She plans to go to college but is still undecided as to what her major will be.

Ashley is fifteen and a sophomore in High School. She is taking several honors and AP classes along with her American Sign Language courses at Pima Community College. Ashley has been involved in Mountain View’s Academic Decathlon team this year and has attended several competitions. She is busy studying and learning all about the Great Depression this year, which has made her greatly depressed. She got her permit in September and has been Patti’s own personal chauffeur ever since.

Nathan is 14 years old, has graduated from Carden and in his first year of high school. He is enjoying his engineering class and is looking forward to his two week Philmont backpacking trip this summer. Since becoming an Eagle Scout, Nathan has learned to fly with them. His most exciting merit badges he has been working on have been Aviation, Nuclear Science and Fire Safety. He is close to completing his 4th palm.

This year the family enjoyed going white water rafting with Grandma and Grandpa Kinghorn down the Snake River at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was a blast! The kids all had the opportunity to enjoy EFY this summer, while Kevin and Devin enjoyed the Paul McCartney concert in SLC.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas and look forward to hearing from you. Take care and keep in touch. The Prodromides Family

Thanksgiving

Peter and Meggan hosted a wonderful Thanksgiving event at their home. It was so much fun to have everyone together, and for the little kids to get to play together. Lisa and Devin came down also. Their girls were surprised to meet so many cousins. We had about 38 people there of which 17 were 7 and under. Meggan is the most awesome, calm and patient mom I know. Thanks so much for inviting us and I hear this may turn into an annual event. Count me in!

Nathan and Michelle having fun and playing the Wii.

Amber and Kerisa played outside the entire time. They were loving the weather!

The weather was gorgeous so we ate outside. Peter orchestrated getting lots of tables and chairs set up. After spending 10 days in Utah, if was wonderful to be back un sunny and warm Arizona.

Mom and Dad were there to watch 4 generations have a good time together. All of us kids were there and most of the grandkids and great-grandkids. Wow! That doesn't happen very often.

Little Miss Kerisa is very independent and enjoyed helping herself to a drink when she got HOT! Can you believe it?

Kerisa always tells me how much she loves Ashley and wants to be just like her. Of course, Ashley loves to hear that. Ashley spent a lot of time outside playing with the kids.

Here I am playing with Briley and Noelle. These kids are so darling. They do the funniest things and keep you laughing.

Dad got a new smart phone and he was showing it to Kevin. It didn't take long before Ashley's radar perked up and she spent time taking everyone's picture and programing Grandpa's call ID. Kevin is getting new ideas in his head about the benefits of a smart phone.

Nathan took some time to play some hymns on the piano. There was so much to do and so many people to visit with, that everyone just kept moving around.

Michelle and Kerisa love being in front of the camera, but Kerisa has learned a few new tricks. We're trying to find out who taught her this one.

Eagle Recognition Dinner

Once a year the scout council puts on a big sha-bang for all the new eagles for the past year. It was so much fun! Nathan was honored as 1 of 196 Eagles. Wow! Good things are still happening for the youth of America. Grandpa and Grandma Gibb, Aunt Sandi, Kevin, Patti, and Emily all went to support Nathan. What a great dinner, and program.
At the end they had all Eagles in the room (young and old) stand around the perimeter of the banquet hall and they took turns one by one lighting a candle, stating their name, year of their eagle, and the city in which they received it. That was fun, widespread and I think the oldest eagle got his in 1953.
They had a comedian and a cartoonist as the speakers for the program. That was so funny and entertaining. I came out of their floating. Those boys, who wanted to, could display their scouting memorabilia, their eagle projects, or whatever they would like. Nathan had a poster of his trail to eagle.
It was fun to see what the others brought to display. I'm so glad we got to go to this event. Thanks Nathan.

Emily and Wyatt come to visit

We have had a wonderful time with Emily and Wyatt coming to visit for long weekends. They came in October and November. Wyatt is really getting to know us and to get comfortable at Grandma's house.

We went to Foothills Mall and he found this wonderful fire engine. He was having fun!

We took him to the Zoo, but he wasn't to keen on sitting on a peacock.

The elephant looked interesting. Good thing this one doesn't move.

This was the most fun! He was crawling through the log tunnels and we spent a long time here. He did not want to continue on. We'll definietly go back there again!

Ashley.... driving now.

Oh NO! She's taken over my van! Ashley got her driver's permit and she drives us anywhere we want to go. I remember those days of agreeing to drive anyone, anywhere.

I have a full time private chauffeur! I may forget how to drive my van. She even drove us to Peter and Meggan's in Gilbert for Thanksgiving. She is doing a great job! Thanks Ashley.

Dog Sitting

We are dog sitting for a friend while she was out of town. This was a wonderful cute dog and didn't seem to be too worried about staying with us. We had fun with him.

Champ is helping me work at the computer.

Silver and Gold

Silver and gold, silver and gold
Ev'ryone wishes for silver and gold
How do you measure its worth?
Just by the pleasure it gives here on Earth.

Silver and gold, silver and gold
Means so much more when I see
Silver and gold transportation
In my garage, with keys.

Uncle Wayne did a great job finding Kevin a great car which now makes the Toyota available for Michelle and soon Ashley.

Happy Birthday Nathan

Nathan celebrated his 14th birthday at the Nymeyer home.
They played golf with putting on the greens.
They sat and visited with in the hot tub.
They a lot. We had a BBQ and cake and ice cream later.

Nathan and his buddy Aaron. Thank you so much for helping Nathan to celebrate in a BIG way. The party was a lot of fun.
Kevin did the BBQing and Ashley orchestrated the whole party. Great job!
Look the the sky. I watched the dark clouds poor and circle all around us, all day long. But, we didn't get any rain at all during the party. Nathan was so optimistic that everything would be OK. You can see the beautiful yard at the Nymeyers. What a gorgeous setting!
They were still playing pool basketball even after dark.
Michelle and Nathan starting dancing. What a fun party.
