Veterans Day

On the Friday before Veterans Day, November 7th, our school put on our annual Veterans Day Program. Lisa and the girls were still here and Grandma and Grandpa Gibb came down to watch it. The Veterans were all acknowledged and those in attendance receive a long stemmed red rose. Grandpa gave Amber his red rose. She was very glad he came down and got one.

Desert Museum

While Lisa was visiting we took the Ashby's to the Desert Museum. We had so much fun. Sandi and Curtis and Jason and Carrie and there 2 little boys came down from Phx too. Amber and Jaron are buddies now! It was so cute. While we were walking back to the car for a lunch break Amber had to hold Jaron's hand, Amber said, " Mommy, doesn't it look like we are getting married?"

Family Pictures!

Lisa and her two girls came and visited us for almost 3 whole weeks but before she came we told her she had to bring her camera. So while she was down here visiting we went and took pictures. Here are some of the best pictures of each of us.

Las Vegas

We spent a wonderful weekend up in Las Vegas at the end of September. We went to go see Steven and Emily and their new little place. It is so cute. We had so much fun playing games with Steven and Emily and even Ken and his girlfriend came over. One of the most enjoyed game was Guitar Hero on Steven's Play Station 2. We don't have any video games so when we get together with Steven that is a favorite thing to do with them.

We also just found out the Emily is expecting and we are so excited for her. We won't know what she is having for a while still.

Constitution Program

Ashley and Nathan performed in their school’s annual Constitution Program. Grandma and Grandpa Gibb came down to see them and they really enjoyed the program. They did a great job and the singing and dancing was great. Ashley had a lead role as Miss Cardona from Arizona. The program was called “The Amerikids” and it had the appearance of being at a Convention with all the delegates from each State. It was really fun to see this because we have recently enjoyed watching the Republican Convention. The 7th and 8th grade girls performed at the end as the Clap Dancers and they are always fun to watch as the audience cheers and hollers. Great job and a fun evening.

Trip to the Grand Canyon

Labor Day weekend our family joined Aunt Sandi, Uncle Curtis, Jason and Carrie and their family in a fun trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The guys had a great time with their ham radios as we caravaned up there. We stayed in log cabins that were next door to each other. It was so much fun as we took hikes, played games, watched videos, cooked outdoors and just enjoyed being together. Everyone had a great time and we even built out vocabulary as we played Balderdash. We had rain, snow, hail, fog, sunshine and even thunder and lightening. We thought the Nielson's were very brave to vacation with us.

Go Lacey!!!

Lacey Nymeyer is in our ward. She is a senior at the U of A. She has broken a world record and has qualified to go to the Olympics. She was home for just tonight before she leaves for Stanford for more training, then on to Singapore and Beijing. They had a huge farewell for her tonight and Mountain View High School. The press was there and a packed gymnasium of friends and family to see her off. It was so cool! They had video set up of her qualifying meets in Omaha Nebraska. Her dad started the program out and then introduced Jim Click. He is a prominent business man in Tucson, who has made a lot of this possible for Lacey. He is also going to see to it that her parents are able to go with Lacey to support her. I think this is a really generous thing to do. Mr. Click spoke for a few minutes and then introduced Lacey. She gave a wonderful talk to thank everyone for all their prayers and support. She is such a wonderful woman and we wish her all the best. Go Lacey!!

4th of July!

We went to the Salt River for the Fouth of July! We took Aunt Sandi and Uncle Curtis with us. We had a blast! Here are some pictures of us floating down the river. It took us 4 hours. Our cooler had it's own innertube and was the center hub of our group. We put the camera in the cooler and it kinda got frosted and the pictures turned out foggy till the camera warmed up. You can guess who was taking all of the pictures. The one not in any of them. (Patti)

Sorry we don't have any pictures of the rapids. Mom had to put the camera away so it wouldn't get wet. They were kinda wild!!! HAHAHA

"Team Edward" NO "Team Jacob"

I (Ashley) made Michelle and I matching Tee Shirts.

Michelle's shirt said "TEAM EDWARD" but mine (Ashley's) said "TEAM JACOB" !!! (from the Twilight Series)

Mom and I have been working on our food storage room. Today, Nathan, mom, Aunt Sandi and I, canned 100 cans of food. It took us 3 hours to can all of the food. When we can home we sorted and organized our shelves and put labels on all the shelves. Here are some pictures of our hard work.
