What's there for me Singapore? As the title goes. As a Singaporean and as I grow older, the answer to this question becomes increasingly important or so I feel.
In HC, I've heard of many planning or considering to pursue their studies overseas. Sometimes I wonder to myself, are they seeking better paper qualifications or are they seeking the excitement of meeting new people from other parts of the world and expereincing new culture hence they preferto educate themselves in a foreign land.
I've been thinking about going overseas to study alot. Actually, yearning. But the circumstances make me... feel that the chances are bleak. Nvm why now. I'd rather discuss about why I would want to study overseas here.
I guess it's mostly because I don't want to continue the mundane way of pursuing my studies any more. I'm not saying that I want that kind of excitement (the bungee-jump kind of excitement). No, I'm not that outgoing lol. I'm looking for an environment where I can be safe yet learn new things from a different persepctive, a wider horizon.
I'm not saying that local universities cannot provide me with good education. But having been under Singapore's education system for so many years now, seeing how exams take priority in all that we learn, I guess maybe experiencing a new education system elsewhere can ignite my passion for learning again.
The beauty of the foreign land, where historical sites prove to be more alluring than my own country's, the unique architecture of their buildings lol is this a case of the grass seems to be greener on the other side? Maybe it is.

Wow just came back from a 3 day 3 night chalet with 08S6T and my legs... are still recovering from the bad muscle ache. We went midnight cycling on monday night, reaching changi villgae at 10, we rented the bikes and waited for Matthew to learn cycling so he could come with us.
I have to say, he pretty brave. With all the pressure on him to learn how to cycle in 2 hrs, he did it and his first time cycling was at night lol. Alright, so we cycled from changi village all the way to ECP to watch the sunrise but well, we didnt see the sunrise and my legs were so painful especailly the muscles on my thigh above the knee. The guys were supposed to take care of the gals but when we were cycling they were more like racing each other. Haha luckily kuoxing was responsible and nice to be the sweeper. We reached the drive thru mac and had breakfast there before they cycled back. I, obviously cant cycle back so I took a cab back with xinyi. And for the whole of ytd's afternoon i sat on the sofa watching tv only to walk ard to get my cup noodles coz my legs were so painful. Yup and u can guess, they laughed at me when i was hobbling.
Overall, I enjoyed the chalet haha. Would be better if my legs didnt hurt so much but well, it was encouraging to see so many ppl at the chalet :)

My last post was about my last sabaticals experience and now I've alr enrolled into my next sabatical course after promos. Cooking and baking woots.
Today's celebration for Teachers' Day and it's pretty good. After a long day at school I went to my friend's house together with my other friends to bake cookies for our teachers :D It's pretty successful considering we dun step into the kitchen often lol :D Well by the time we packed everything it was almost 11. So you can guess how tired I was by the time I reached home.
Haha but I didn't feel very exhausted today except for the time when I was trying to rush my econs drq before watching the concert in the audi. Royston Tan & the crew of 12 Lotus came to my school to perform haha what a surprise. The concert was quite good though I think I've only watched a quarter of it.
The best part of the day has got to be gg back to zh to meet my friends and teachers. By the time I reached zh, many teachers have left. It felt good seeing them again after so long. Really missed them. For most of us I guess we're still the same haha which is good coz it feels familiar. Talked, took pics, waited for a long time for our food to come at fish & co lol.
I enjoyed myself today :) Thks friends for still being you. Let's continue to keep in touch and good luck for promos!!! :D

Tee Off! That's the name of the module for my Sabbticals I. 2 whole days of golf's really fun. It's more like a crash course for golf, the instructors were pretty nice, my instructor was quite cute to me lol. Anyway we had lots of fun putting, chipping & making fabulous shots with the drivers at the driving range( i had countless balls hitting the roof LOL).
Here's a$ shot of me hitting the balls :)

To the non-golfers golf look really easy almost effortless. That's the impression golfers give but when you do try it yourself, you'll realise that golf is definitely not a game for lazybones. It requires strategy & stamina(for walking a few km around the golf course). More importantly i think golf can shape one's personality. You'll know what I mean when you try to putt the ball into the hole but it always seem to miss by just a bit haha.
I had some frustration sometimes but lots of fun nevertheless :) Btw, the food at the clubhouse totally sucks. It's overpriced but i still eat there anyway coz i dun hv much of a choice unless i wanna bring my own food which i'm lazy to.
Well i hope this wont be my last time playing golf because i enjoyed it very much. It's not fast & exciting like most other sports but it's interesting & fun in it's own way. Besides the greenery helps to calm you down & it's very beautiful.
Hopefully you guys will learn golf sometime soon :) or better still, ask me along when you play golf :D

This week I had a 2 day phy camp at NUS. It's quite enriching. We had some lectures on the first day followed by seemingly endless number of expts. Lol seriously I think there are too many expts packed in 2 days le. It's quite fun at first to do expts that verify what we learn from tbs but gradually we got sick of the expts. Besides, it doesn't make my mood any lighter coz it takes me more than an hr to get to NUS & I had to change buses twice.
Anyway, here's something I wanna share with you from this camp :)
In the past, Greek scientists already had this idea that matter is made of tiny particles called atoms. They believed that things that gave a sour taste are made of atoms with jagged edges.

Similarly, they believed that drinks which gave a soothing feeling are made up of atoms which are round.

So, based on this theory, what do you think atoms of sweet drinks should be? =)

tada! Haha pretty interesting. Btw, this is not what they really thought haha it's just the lecturer's way of cracking jokes to keep us awake :)
