Oh, How Time Flies

My gosh, time has really flown by.  I have been so busy lately.  Sis and I just got back from a trip to Kansas City and before that I was frantically trying to get things done for the antique booth and a birthday present for Sis and Michael and I stained our upper deck.  Today I am going to try to get most of my pots planted for the deck.

We had a great time in Kansas City.  While we were at one of the shops in St. Joe we found out about a huge flea market in Sparks KS.  So off we went to find it.  An adventure in it's self.  The GPS  said there was no such place.  Finally stopped in a tiny town and I mean really tiny, wide spot in the road, at a little place called Ed's Station.  Not a gas station, just a little garage that reminded me of our Dad's old garage.  Inside 2 old gentlemen sitting in chairs visiting, that also made me think of how Dad and his brother used to sit and talk.  Really took me back in time and I loved it.  I asked where Sparks KS was and one of them said well you are headed in the right direction, just go 2 miles on down the road and when you see all the traffic you are there.   Finally we arrived and oh what fun we had.  Over 400  vendors and so many bargains.

The next day we went to the West Bottoms in Kansas City and more fun was had.  So many shops here, we spent the whole day.

This is what I made my sister for her birthday.  I call it the Family Tree.

The pictures are of our Great Aunt Belle and our Grandma Porter.    I want to share a piece that my Sis made for the booth.

Here a a few pieces I got finished.  I love using old book covers, as you know, so I really enjoyed creating this.

The last piece I want to share today is called Family Circle.  Something a little different for me.  Found this great piece of wood, just had to do something with it.

Enough for today, time to get started planting flowers.  Hope you all have a great day.

Spring showers

The weather has been so pretty here, then came a cold snap and rain.  I am not complaining we needed the rain, but I was really enjoying the summer like weather in March.  I don't have much in the way of a garden here as it is all rocks and not much dirt, but I do have a small garden next to the house.   Mostly hostas  since it is shaded most of the day.  The azalea is blooming and so pretty and my Japanese Maples are really pretty right now.

This Bridal Wreath bush is one of my favorites.  Growing up we lived next to a circle park and the whole park was circled with these.  They were beautiful in the spring.  Mine is still really small.

Love this old rusted bike.  I think I will plant  a Mandeville vine to grow on it this year.

Then came the cold snap, didn't hurt any of the plants but was a shock to my system.  The lake was really pretty in the mornings.

Our daughter and grand daughter came down last week end for a couple of days.  Maggie wanted to go fishing, she got a new fishing pole.  She graduated from the small pink one to a real one.  She loves to fish.  We didn't catch anything but had a great time.  Grandpa loves to go fishing with her.

Mom was getting out of the way of her casting her line, she is really pretty good at casting.

Not sure which one is the kid.  They were both watching the fish swim around the dock.  Guess this was the best vantage point for watching.

Maggie and I spent some time in the studio.  She made some pretty bookmarks for her books, she loves to read.  I did manage to get a piece finished when they went home.

Have a great weekend.  We are expecting more rain and possibly some storms but it is warm again.

Flea Market

Hi everyone, Sis and I went to the flea market this week end.  It was a beautiful day and we found a few things.  I found some lovely old buttons.  I love buttons, can't get enough of them.

The little round white one with the champagne rhinestones is all glass.  It is beautiful.  The photo does not do it justice.

I have been working on fabric brooches this week have a few finished.  They are really fun to make, kind of like a mini canvas to work on.

I will be listing these in my Esty shop later today.

Going to take a couple of hours from the studio today and go fishing with hubby, so many fishing boats out today it has given us the bug.  Have a great day.

Spring

I don't know is Spring is really here, but I am going to enjoy these beautiful days to the fullest.  It is so nice to open all the windows and go out on the deck with a cup of tea first thing in the morning.  I have just recently discovered that I would rather have a cup of tea than a cup of coffee.  Spiced Chai is my favorite, with a teaspoon of honey to sweeten just a little.

Our miniature peach tree is in total bloom, it has never bloomed this early before.  I hope we don't get a freeze that will ruin all the buds and blooms.   We have a set of bluebirds making a nest in an old bird house that we have in the yard.  Every year they come and nest.  I love to watch them.

My daughters  husband takes beautiful pictures and has created a website, if you would like to take a look at his photos here is his site Ed.  I also have it on my sidebar.  My hubby has started sculpting again.  He loves making Old World Santas from around the world.   He wants to make them authentic to the country so if anyone has any good information on the correct clothes, etc he would love the info.

I have been busy lately getting things ready for out booth at the antique mall.  The end of March they are having an event called March Back in Time.   Lots of demonstrations of crafts of old and a Civil  War encampment will be set up.  Hoping for a large crowd.

Here is a wall hanging I created for the event.

I made some new needle books as well, these will be listed in my Etsy shop later today.

My nephew works for an equestrian center in Texas that does unique therapy for children and adults with disabilities.  They are having a fundraiser in April.  I created this wall hanging as a donation for the silent auction.

Everyone have a great day.

I Missed the Sale

The Joann's store here in my area is moving to a larger space and I just found out.  They had all of the fabrics on sale at 75% off.  By the time I got there they only had 4 little racks left.  Oh well, the good thing is now they will have a larger store.

I did get some things finished this week.   I bought this photo from an Etsy shop and here is what I created with it.

I love the photo.  This photo does not show it very well.  Just look at how the boy is looking at the girl, so adoringly.  It made me think the boy was taking his new bride home to meet mom. What do you think?

Cricket our little dog gave us a scare this week.  She had an allergic reaction to something.  She had hives all over her body.  Called the vet and she said to give her Benadryl and to watch and make sure her throat did not swell.  The medicine worked but it made her very hyper so we were up all night long.  I didn't mind since it made her better.  She is back to her normal self.

Have a great weekend.

Hugs, Jackie
