And the journey began. 2 cars on Halifax street. 10 adventurous jokers with high hopes to know how great an ocean-road can b. not jz another road by the ocean. It’s the Great Ocean Road!!! With not much plans we left Adelaide city in blue and white car (dun ask me what model, I dunno anything about cars). We had our terror navigator and road planner/which-way-to-turn-decider: ms. Mad
. Uncle timboon
behind the wheels of blue car (that’s not a fly on his face…). And lasagna banana tosai
behind the wheels of the white car. Camera men: all of us… (we’re trained posers and syok-sendiri-ist).
1st day:
B4 hitting the Great Ocean Road, we had to endure the slow one-day torture of the Great Dry-Grass Road. We went pass the borderline between South Australia and Victoria. The flies gathered at that place, contemplating whether to leave Victoria or not. (seriously… I think vic has a lot more flies than SA) Then we went thru Horsham and stopped at Caverndish for petrol. Man… the whole day, all we saw were sheep, fields, hay, more sheep, more hay, more fields. It was quite depressing to a certain point. If it wasn’t for james and ken, I think I wud hv made boon crash the car to a tree and end the journey there. We sang all day. Seriously. As long as the wheels were spinning, our songs kept going. and we took pix of ourselves every hour.
We ended up in a place called Warrnambool (correct spelling). We had KFC for dinner then we went to Flagstaff hill for a shipwreck experience. AUD20.25 to watch cool lights flash up to a fountain that visualizes how a ship got wrecked on the coast near by. Quite cool. We were freezing our heads off. Then we went to a cabin place to spend the nite. One cabin for the girls and one for the guys. We were satisfied with the facilities. All hail hot shower! I had a fun time getting rid of a moth in the room =)
Day 2:
Hotcakes at McDs for $1.75 for breakkie. Awesomeness! That was a great way to start off our day to the road that we’ve been longing for. We went to the Bay of Islands, Grotto, London Bridge, Lorc Ard, George, 12 Apostles… we stopped at almost every stop we can find, just to take pix with almost the same scenery. And it was really
worth it. The panoramic views were breath taking. The ocean, waves, gulfs, cliffs, sand, horizon, clouds, nature… walau…
We had lunch at Lavers Hill, then we headed to Apollo Bay, Lorne, and then to Erkskine falls. The road to the water fall was so misty it was eerie and cool at the same
time. Its like driving into the unknown. Then we headed to Torquay but missed the shopping bit. Got there too late for the factory outlet stuff. Ish… so we headed to Geelong and had dinner at this Chinese restaurant called Mei Ling. We were all so tired d, and we had to gobble down our food in less than half an hours time cuz they were closing. It was 10 plus and we had no place to stay that nite. Hahaha… funny experience. In the end, we went straight to Melbourne where our OCF friends saved us from sleeping in the streets that nite. Slept at about 2am… physically dead.
For me to word out everything we did on this 'journey to the east' is quite impossible as there were plenty of instances where words just cant express. I grew closer with 9 other posers and learnt about their habits and behaviors that I would never hv guessed would be. i love them all!
I think the road wasnt thhhhaaaat great. It's the Maker of every creation that's Great.
