One of the main things we had been praying for over this past weekend was for fair weather, specifically during 6 to 7pm at the Botanic Gardens, so that our gig at the Symphony Stage could go on. It started raining at around 11plus am on Saturday, and didn't look like it was lightening up, so much so that one of the members thought we would have to cancel the gig. But it stopped raining at the Botanics before 4pm. Yesterday, it stayed cloudy but without rain in the late afternoon. Then at about 5:30, it began to drizzle quite steadily when we were there after setting up and sound-checking. The crowds had already gathered, and one little boy continued running around with his kite in the drizzle. People were holding their umbrellas, and i guess it wasn't quite as fun having their picnic. But we started at 6pm, and amazingly, by the end of our first song, the drizzle had stopped. Praise the Lord! ...I must admit, my heart sank a bit when midway through the gig it seemed to be getting darker and when i looked up there were dark clouds over us. But they blew away and the only reason it got darker was when the sun set.
We are so thankful and amazed at God's faithfulness in answering prayers. On both days, the weather was cool and breezy, and especially yesterday, after ironing out the kinks in the sound and the mc script, it was a thoroughly enjoyable affair. As Marianne said, the amazing thing also was that we sounded better during the actual gig than at the soundcheck! It really was the Lord's hand of grace over us. Tonight is our final gig of the season at TTSH. Hope the visitors and some patients who are able to come hear us will be blessed by the singing.
