Clearing leave days

Wow.. what a flood of posts this month, compared to the drought this page has experienced for the past few months ;P Must mean that i'm more relaxed and freer during this time 'in between jobs'.

It was a real joy being able to sing about Good Friday and Easter, both in church and in Agapella, and appreciate Yimei and Jing Ying for coming down to the gig on Saturday to listen, and for bringing their friends!! =)

And just to say that i'm absolutely delighted that i get to meet Vik in Harrogate on Friday after all! I'd definitely count her as my best friend in church growing up, and look forward to catching up in person in a few days' time!!

Also, if you are not buying this month's edition of Style Weddings, can take a look at Stan's blog to see... ;)

When God Ran

In some ways the Jewish culture could be seen to be quite similar to the Chinese and other Asian cultures.. I've heard that just as unlikely it is to see a grand old Chinese patriach in the act of running, so it's much the same for a Jewish wealthy and stately patriach to be running - quite unheard of. And yet, that's the picture the Bible uses to show how much the father loved his son. A parallel of how much God loves us. Even though we are the ones who rejected him first. Similarly, even as it's not very common for Asian fathers to express their love for their children directly in words, surely our Heavenly Father expressed His love for us in so many ways. Come hear Agapella's rendition of When God Ran at the YMCA Auditorium on Saturday 6pm, or at the UCC foyer on Sunday at 7pm.

Almighty God,
The Great I Am,
Immovable Rock,
Omnipotent, Powerful,
Awesome Lord,
Victorious Warrior,
Commanding King of Kings,
Mighty Conqueror..

And the only time, the only time I ever saw Him run
Was when He ran to me, took me in His arms,
Held my head to His chest, said, "My son's come home again"
Looked in my face, wiped the tears from my eyes,
With forgiveness in His voice
He said, "Son, do you know I still love you?"
It caught me by suprise when God ran.

The day I left home,
I knew I'd broken His heart
And I wondered if things could ever be the same.
Then one night
I remembered His love for me
And down that dusty road
Ahead I could see:

It was the only time, the only time I ever saw Him run...
It caught me by surprise
And it brought me to my knees
When God ran.

28 years 5 days 9 hours old

Yes, thanks for the many birthday wishes and gifts from dear friends near and far.. I have so much to thank God for, which i hope this blog is also testament to! Some quick updates...

Trying to clear work and gear up for my new position which i start on 1 April (no joke!) But before that i will be in Harrogate for the British Dyslexia Association conference! A bit sorry to go all the way and not extend my trip, but it's a bit hard given the timing, and also i'd really hope to bring Stan to see the UK properly some day.. Anyway, as my time at the DAS draws to a close, it has truly been an absolute pleasure and blessing to be able to work with such dedicated and able professionals, who have also become my friends. The team of psychologists, both before my time in Perth and after, have been great.. and i'm quite sorry to leave even the new batch who just started a month ago. So thankful for the opportunities given at the DAS, and will definitely try to keep the ties!

Other than work-wise, we have also been preparing for some Easter gigs (check out www.agapella.net for details!) and i'm absolutely loving ucn's arrangement of When God Ran, which i get to sing for the first time! Plus also involved in the Good Friday/Easter service in church :)

Saturday was Sam & Esther's wedding and it was real lovely to be able to witness their special day and be part of it, and especially to sing with my dear cousins and our band ;) Our version of Michael Buble's Everything was such fun!! Also, last week, got to check out Tim & Velma's new house, which is very near our new home as well, and got to admire their renovation work, and get some ideas for our own place as well!

Tomorrow we're going up to KL for a short break (be back on Saturday evening) so i'm really looking forward to catching up with Carolyn and Yvonne during this time. Although it's not a very long trip, will be nice to have a short break anyhow.
